For the first time since she had known him. Lucas hadn't spoken or reached out to her.

Which meant they weren't even friends at this point. They were strangers.

Beyond that Lucas didn't care about her. She could see it. Feel it.

The reality of Lucas not being in her life for remainder of it.

Was more than she could tolerate and digest.

She knew now along with everyone else in town. Various fans on social media of the couple.

That a wedding would be happening. Sooner rather than later.

She wasn't a priority to him anymore. Not even an afterthought.

Peyton found herself waiting. In her entryway. Clinging to her cellphone.

Lucas regretted ever opening this letter. He didn't care about Peyton. He had finally moved on.

Brooke had his heart. And soul. His life was going better than he ever expected.

Which is why he tore up what she had written and went upstairs to shower and get ready for bed.

Once he showered and changed into his pajamas.

He reached for his cellphone. Called Brooke. And put the phone to his ear.

(How are you Pretty Girl?) Lucas asked.

Brooke smiled. (I had the best time. But now that I'm home. In my bedroom.)

(I miss you.) (You holding me. And us just being together. Shutting out the world.)

(Talking about the future we want have.) Brooke admitted.

(I'm missing you too.) Lucas replied.
