Nine years later...
Mirabel sat in her bedroom, painting her nails, and listening to music as she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in!" Mirabel called out.
Sam entered Mirabel's room as she turned to her and took out her earbuds and asked, "Yes?"
"You might wanna pack your stuff, Mira," Sam started.
Mirabel turned confused and asked, "What?"
"We're leaving," Sam continued.
"What?! Why?" Mirabel exclaimed in shock.
"Not permanently," Sam corrected.
"Oh, but why?" Mirabel asked.
"A weather report, and you have to come," Sam replied.
"Fine, but leave here and go where?" Mirabel asked.
Sam cleared her throat and explained, "We're going to this island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean called Swallow Falls."
"Swallow Falls," Mirabel repeated.
"Yeah, there's gonna be a grand opening of someplace called "Sardine Land". Yep, this town is famous with sardines," Sam replied.
"Ugh," Mirabel exclaimed in disgust at the thought of sardines.
Sam nodded and said, "Yeah, the people there need help, but we still gotta go. So pack anything you wanna bring."
Mirabel nodded and packed some stuff.
They both walk to a news van as a short man holding a TV camera sat in the passenger seat.
Mirabel sat in the back seat as Sam got into the driver's seat and started driving the van.
"Can you two believe it? Temporary professional meteorologist," Sam said as the cameraman held the wheel.
They travel on a ferry on the ocean as Sam said, ""Welcome, America! I'm Sam Sparks!", "Hello, America! Sam Sparks here!", "America, hi! I didn't see you there! It's me, Sam Sparks!""
Sam turned to Mirabel and asked, "How was that?"
"Fine,"Mirabel answered.
Sam gave Mirabel a thumbs up and said, "Cool. On our way, across the ocean!"
The ferry stops at a dock and Sam, Mirabel, and the cameraman board off as Mirabel prepared herself for the nasty smell of sardines.
When the enter the town of Swallow Falls, Mirabel sniffed the air in confusion, places that have sardines usually smell terrible, but that was a good thing.
They see a crowd gathered at a large tarp. This must the grand opening of that place Sam talked about.
"Manny, are we ready?" Sam asked.
The cameraman, Manny nodded as he stood on a crate, held up his camera, and started filming.
"Hello, Sam Sparks, I'm America. It's Swallow Falls degrees and…uh, let's just go to the mayor," Sam said as Mirabel heard her line get wrong and rolled her eyes.
The mayor, Mayor Shelbourne played music and said, "Here to cut the ceremony ribbon, Swallow Falls' favorite son, Baby Brent!"
The mascot of the sardines, Baby Brent walked out and ripped off his blue jumpsuit, revealing a white diaper as Mirabel and Sam stare at him.
"I'm the best person in the whole town!" Brent said and kicked over a wagon full of sardines as he exclaimed, "Uh-oh!"
The crowd stopped applauding as the mayor said, "So here it is, the attraction the whole world has been waiting for, Sardine Land!"
Brent cut the ribbon with the giant scissors and the tarps fall, revealing the theme park.
"With rides, and exhibits, and featuring Shamo! The world's largest sardine and his flaming hoop of glory!"
Another tarp fell revealing a tiny sardine in a very large fishbowl with a ring of fire for it to jump through.
The sardine did not look excited about the ring of fire.
"Those of you in the splash zone, look out!" Mayor Shelbourne finished.
"Yeah!" A man shouted.
As Mirabel was about to walk out of the crowd, she saw a cop running to a man with unruly hair and a white lab coat in his twenties with a machine.
"Flint Lockwood!" The cop shouted.
"Just a second! I'm in the middle of a-"
The man was cut off as a spark sent the machine shooting off horizontally like a missile with him dragged behind it, hanging onto the cables for dear life.
Mirabel watched the man bounce everywhere as he bounced off a building, two cars, and the Swallow Falls sign, knocking the F off.
As the man held into the machine tighter, he saw Manny holding the camera ahead.
"Well, it looks like things in Swallow Falls are sardine to get better, for-"
Sam was cut off when the machine knocked Manny's camera into her as the lens smush up against her face.
"Sam!" Mirabel exclaimed and ran to her.
Mirabel saw the machine flying at her as she ducked under and watched it whip into Sardine Land, knock around out Shamo's fish bowl, and pass by other people.
The man struggled to stop the machine by planting his feet, waterskiing on his shoes, tearing up the sidewalk, and is finally stopped by a STOP sign.
The machine broke away from the jumper cables as it shot up, disappearing into the sky.
The man looked up at the machine that he lost and said, "No."
The cop tackled the man and said, "You're under arrest, Flint Lockwood! Thank goodness you only caused minimal damage to Sardine Land."
But behind them, there was a noise.
They both look at Shamo's bowl scaffolding and….KRAAAAAAK!
The scaffolding broke, making the bowl topple over, and splash its water everywhere, but the splash zone.
The bowl started to roll around the town like a giant wheel of destruction as it smashed a museum and a ride.
The mayor jumped off the stage as the bowl smashed into it.
Sam got up and saw the bowl rolling to Mirabel.
"Mira!" Sam exclaimed and moved her out of the way, only to saved by the lip of the bowl, leaving her unharmed.
The crowd ran for their lives as Brent held the ceremonial scissors and said, "I really shouldn't be running with these!"
Mirabel and Sam watch the bowl continue its destruction through the town as people scream and run.
The bowl bounced through a parking lot, exploding a car, which propelled the bowl up and threw Shamo through the flaming hoop, towards the ocean, and freedom.
"Yippee!" Shamo happily shouted and then got snatched by a rat-and-bird hybrid.
Mirabel and Sam watch the bowl trap the man as the crowd around him start yelling at him as a man with a mustache looked disappointed at him.
As the crowd walked away, the man hit his head against the glass in despair as it sent a crack up to the top of the bowl and the whole thing shattered.
The man stared at the crowd and quickly ran away as Mirabel and Sam watch him.
