Chapter 5: Mysterious Duo Revealed! A Warning From The Future!
(A/N: Sorry for the 2 & 1/2 month-long wait, everyone. If any of you took a look at my profile, you would understand why I have been away from this story. I really do love my idea for this story, but I can't help with school, and the assignments that they give out. This chapter is an extra-long one; just over 4,000 words. 4 times as many words as the last chapter. I hope you guys enjoy this new chapter, and let me know what your thoughts are on it.)
The lavender-haired man approaches Frieza, not showing any hint of fear. While the girl just sits back and lets him handle Frieza. Frieza, on the other hand, looks on at the man with an amused expression on his face with a slight chuckle, which slowly turns into a villainous laugh, unaware of what the man was capable of. Once the laughter dies down, Frieza tells the young man,"You're pretty tough, kid. Besting my men is one thing, but I'm a whole different story."
Clearly showing arrogance, the young man replies, "Maybe I haven't made myself clear enough. You're about to find out what it's like fighting a real Super Saiyan. And, I'm not talking about Goku," with that last sentence going from a neutral expression to that of a confident smirk. Frieza is taken aback by this statement at first, but calms himself, and turns to his father, King Cold. "You hear this, Father? He thinks of himself as a Super Saiyan. We better run, isn't that right?" saying that last bit with a hint of sarcasm.
The Frost demons begin to fall into hysterical laughter. As this is happening, the young man begins powering up, causing the Earth to rumble and shake. Frieza and King Cold stop laughing, with Frieza taking on a look of surprise on his face. The young girl gives off a smirk, knowing what's about to happen. The young man finishes powering up, and goes into something that makes Frieza feel the same fear he did on Planet Namek: That of Goku's transformation into that of a Super Saiyan.
King Cold looks at Frieza, still with his arms folded. Frieza is paralyzed in place, saying: "It's those eyes. They have the same eyes." The young man looks at Frieza, with a serious smirk on his face, asking with a hint of sarcasm: "Was it something I said?" Frieza then flies into the air, creating a Supernova. King Cold looks at his son with surprise in his face, asking him: "Frieza, are you insane?! You're going to kill us all! We're too close to the blast radius!"
Frieza responds in a yell towards his father: "This Super Saiyan must be eradicated at once! Regardless if it's Goku or someone else!" He then throws the Supernova towards the Earth. Just when he thinks he destroyed the planet's core, the Supernova rises back into the air; revealing the young man, still in his Super Saiyan form, holding the Supernova in one hand. As he looks at the Frost demons, more so at Frieza, he asks: "Is this yours? Have it back." The young man throws the Supernova back at them, forcing them to jump into the air, with the young girl also jumping into the air.
As Frieza attempts to evade the Supernova in the air, he fires another blast at the Supernova to try and detonate it. And, in a way, it does, but the young man is nowhere to be seen. But what Frieza and King Cold didn't know was that the young man evaded the blast by jumping up onto a rocky pillar from high above them, and the rocky pillar is … RIGHT BEHIND FRIEZA AND HIS FATHER!
As the 2 space tyrants chuckle at their supposed victory over the boy, said boy prepares one of his signature energy attacks, (some of which know it as,) Burning Attack. Just before he launches the Burning Attack at Frieza and King Cold, he calls out to Frieza: "HEY, FRIEZA!" And he fires the attack. Both Frieza AND King Cold manage to evade the blast by jumping into the air, with Frieza saying: "Why you… WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, I"LL–" As Frieza is cut off mid-sentence, he looks up to where the boy is, and the boy looks like he's about to slice Frieza. Which does end up being the case.
As the young girl, who has been sitting on the sidelines, watching the battle go on, and Frieza's unfortunate end, she goes into a little giggle. Feeling that it will be her turn to step in and finish King Cold.
As Frieza slowly falls apart into his 2 halves, King Cold looks on in shock at what has happened, and calls out to his son: "FRIEZA!" However, the King himself doesn't have much time to process this thought, as the young man continues to slice Frieza into smaller pieces before blasting at Frieza's remains, resulting in Frieza's complete obliteration.
The Z-Fighters, who have been watching and sensing the battle from afar, look on in shock at what happened to Frieza. Gohan and Videl in particular are especially surprised. Both of the young lovers were thinking the same thing: "Who are those 2 people fighting the late Frieza, and now his father, King Cold?"
The young man, who has defeated and killed Frieza as a Super Saiyan, sheaths his sword, and looks up towards King Cold, and then at the young girl; his facial expression telling her that it's her turn to step in, once he unsheathes his sword again. As he is sure that King Cold will want to examine it for himself. The girl nods at him, and is ready whenever he is.
As this is about to happen, the Z-Fighters internally debate their next move, with Vegeta taking the initiative on this, and flies closer towards the battle. The rest of the Z-Fighters take notice of this course of action, and follow through with it, with Piccolo leading, followed by Krillin, then Gohan and Videl simultaneously, then Tien and Chiaotzu. Yamcha is about to follow along, but Bulma stops him, saying that she doesn't want to be left behind again.
As the Z-Fighters are flying closer to the battle, the young man, the young girl, and King Cold all descend towards the ground. King Cold attempts to strike a deal with the 2 young opponents, and that offer is for them to join him and become supreme rulers of the universe, which they decline.
And as they both thought, King Cold requests to examine the young man's sword. The young man, who is still in his Super Saiyan form, grants the request, and tosses it to him. King Cold catches the sword, and examines it, just like they thought he would. He comments on the sword's craftsmanship, and tells the young man: "I have a hunch that you wouldn't have defeated my son, were it not for this sword. What do you two think?"
The young girl fires back verbally, saying: "Believe what you want to." King Cold acknowledges the girl's statement: "Alright then, I will. I SAY THAT WITHOUT THIS SWORD, YOU'RE NOTHING! THAT'S WHAT I BELIEVE!" The King proceeds to swing the young man's sword at the girl, but she catches it effortlessly with her left hand.
King Cold tries to use more of his strength to make the sword dig into the girl's skin, but it does nothing. As she holds the sword from its blade end, she asks this question to King Cold: "Did you know that my friend here isn't the only Super Saiyan present? That's right, I'm saying that I'm also a Super Saiyan." And, she transforms into a Super Saiyan, keeping to her word.
This shocks King Cold even further, but once again, he doesn't have time to process this revelation. As the young female Super Saiyan puts her right hand up towards King Cold's chest, and fires a Ki blast through it, severely injuring him, causing blood to spill out from his body, and letting go of the sword. As he rapidly falls to the ship's landing area, he tries to beg for mercy, but that doesn't work at all. And she kills King Cold, still holding on to the sword from its blade end.
She tosses it back to her friend, and he sheathes it once more. And with one last thing to take care of, they fire a combined blast together at the ship, causing it to blow up. With this done, both of them revert back to their base forms. Once they do, they look behind them and see the Z-Fighters floating in the sky watching the battle.
The young man takes initiative, smiles, and tells them that they're heading to where Goku is supposed to land. This surprises the Z-Fighters, even Gohan. Some of the Z-Fighters have their doubts on trusting the young man, most notably Piccolo and Vegeta. Tien chooses to follow the 2 young teens, but Yamcha expresses his doubts, agreeing with Piccolo and Vegeta.
Gohan takes the initiative and follows the pair of unknown Super Saiyans, followed closely by Videl. Seeing these two go after them, the rest of the Z-Fighters decide to follow as well, with Krillin saying: "You're all nuts. Can we even trust them?" After flying for a few minutes, the unknown Super Saiyan pair descend to Goku's landing spot.
The young girl takes a small container out of the young man's jacket, and opens it. She takes out a capsule, clicks the button on the top, and tosses it to the ground, revealing something that Yamcha is concerned about, as he doesn't know what it could be. The young man opens the door, revealing it to be a mini fridge with several cold drinks inside.
The young man asks and states to them: "How about a cold drink? Goku isn't due to arrive for another 2 hours. It's pretty hot and dry out here." Bulma expresses her opinion with a smile: "I don't see why not." With Gohan agreeing with her thoughts. And… Videl does likewise. Krillin, being the overcautious person he is, is hesitant. "Wait. Gohan, Videl…" But Bulma interrupts him saying: "Relax, Krillin. They're just sodas." Upon hearing these names, the young girl is taken aback by this revelation. "These 2 are my parents? Don't get me wrong, it is nice to see them again, but my father's outfit choice… It is what it is." Gohan comments on the soda choices. And Bulma starts taking a liking to the unknown pair, because … They have Root Beer. (A/N: Really, Bulma? Are you serious?)
Krillin asks if they have Grape soda, to which Gohan replies: "Yep, there are 2 grape sodas." Krillin takes a sip of the soda, and he is amazed by the taste. "Jackpot." Bulma continues Krillin's thought: "Yeah, super."
A little while later, everyone is kind of scattered about, still at the spot Goku's supposed to land at. Piccolo with his back towards the group, Tien and Chiaotzu sitting side by side, Gohan and Videl doing the same, Krillin and Bulma doing so, Yamcha and Puar, the unknown Super Saiyan pair, and Vegeta, taking after Piccolo, is sitting by himself.
After waiting around for a while, the young man's watch goes off, signaling that 2 hours have passed. He gets up to his feet, and tells everyone: "That's it. 2 hours have passed. Goku should be arriving any second now." Hearing this, everyone jumps to their feet, minus Vegeta and Piccolo. Instead, Piccolo and Vegeta simply stand up.
As the young man had said, they sensed Goku's energy entering the Earth's atmosphere. As they're sensing Goku's energy, they see a tiny Space Pod coming to the ground from the sky. While Videl may have never sensed Goku's energy before, she has been told by Gohan the kind of feeling Goku gives off. With this confirmation, the Z-Fighters take off to Goku's precise landing spot.
They arrive at the spot just in time to see the Pod door open, and out comes Son Goku. As he gets out of the Space Pod, Goku looks straight ahead of him and sees the Z-Fighters. And let's just say, he is surprised to see them at the spot he was going to land, and he wonders how they knew he'd be there. With this in mind, he asks them this question. They explain that it was the unknown pair of people, and that they're Super Saiyans, and even how they defeated Frieza and King Cold. Plus, Gohan explains to his father who Videl is, and her origin story. He is surprised to hear this as well.
Goku is surprised to hear that they're Super Saiyans, but Vegeta butts in, saying: "Are you forgetting something, Kakarot? You, your son, Videl and I are the only Saiyans still alive." Goku looks back at the unknown Super Saiyan pair, not really caring about what Vegeta had just said, and says: "Well, if they say they're Super Saiyans, then that's good enough for me."
Bulma isn't too happy by this response from her longtime friend, and she replies: "Oh honestly, Goku. You take things WAY too lightly sometimes." Goku doesn't believe Bulma's words, saying back to her: "No I don't." This little conversation is interrupted by the young man, as he requests that he, the young girl, and Goku have a word just between the three of them.
Goku agrees with this request: "Alright then." As they walk away, Yamcha asks: "Hey, what exactly are these going to tell you that they can't tell us?" But Goku tells them not to worry, and he flies off with the unknown pair of Super Saiyans. They land a little ways away from the Z-Fighters, and Goku thanks them for beating Frieza and his father. But he also tells them that he could've been here in seconds, thanks to a new technique he learned: Instant Transmission. (A/N: With this technique, your body basically dematerializes and you travel as a mass of light. I bet you would be surprised at how much ground you could cover going 186 thousand miles per second. That's how fast you move.)
The pair were surprised to hear this information, and were beginning to think out loud towards Goku, saying if they had known about this, they wouldn't have bothered fighting Frieza in the first place, and they wouldn't have met the Z-Fighters. Goku is surprised to hear the way they are talking, making it sound like meeting the Z-Fighters was something they didn't want to do.
So, Goku questions them about this, and the pair reply, saying they don't mind answering that question, but they wanted to know something first, before they answer Goku's question. They ask him if Goku can willingly transform into a Super Saiyan. Goku explains to them that in the beginning, he wasn't able to, but after training with the form for some time, he can finally tap into the form willingly.
With this answer meeting their satisfaction, the pair of them unknown Super Saiyans transform into said form. Goku is surprised to see that their Super Saiyan statement is actually true. With this, the young man unsheathes his sword and intends to attack Goku, but the young man stops at the last moment. But, Goku didn't even try to dodge the sword, almost as if he knew the young man would stop his attack.
The young man questions Goku about this surprise, to which he replies, (A/N: Like we thought): "I searched your feelings. So, I knew you'd stop." The young man acknowledges this info, and tells Goku that this next attack isn't going to stop short of landing on him. And, Goku replies: "As you wish, friend," and powers up his Super Saiyan aura around his right Pointer finger, intending to block the sword with just his finger.
And that's exactly what happens. The young man swings his sword continuously at Goku, and he blocks everything with his finger. Each and every swing. The pair are satisfied with what they've been told about Goku, and revert back to their base forms, with Goku doing likewise. And the young man sheaths his sword.
They apologize to Goku for all of the secrecy they have been giving off, and they tell him to promise not to tell anyone else what they are about to tell him. Goku tells them that he's never had a problem with keeping secrets, so they have his word.
They thank him for the confirmation and tell them their names: the young man's name is Trunks, and the young girl's name is Pan. And they tell him that they came from 20 years in the future. Goku is amazed to hear this. Trunks says to Goku that Vegeta is right about what he had said: That he, Gohan, Videl, and Goku all have Saiyan blood. And Trunks got his from Vegeta. "Vegeta is my father." Goku is again surprised by the boy's words, and he looks back at Vegeta. Once he looks at the Saiyan Prince, he can immediately see the resemblance.
But Pan tells Goku that they have something more important to discuss. Goku turns to look back at Trunks and Pan with a more serious face on. Trunks takes initiative in this discussion: "In three years on the morning of May 12th, at 10:00 A.M., a horribly destructive duo will show up on an island 9 miles southwest of South City." Pan continues the conversation: "Once this pair surfaces, the Earth as you know it will be gone for good." Goku asks them if they're aliens, but the time travelers tell him that they are both Androids created on Earth. And they also tell him who the pair's creator is: Dr. Gero, the mastermind responsible for the late Red Ribbon Army. Trunks asks Goku if he remembers the Red Ribbon Army, to which he replies: "Yeah. I defeated them." Pan tells Goku that the Dr. Gero they are talking about is in fact the same person he faced so long ago, when he was just a child.
Goku looks to the ground in shame. Trunks picks up the conversation, saying: "Yes, that's one battle you're going to wish you had fought to the very end. Look, I'm sorry that we had to say that, Goku. We know that you're a good person, but letting Dr. Gero was a mistake that will come back to haunt you and everyone you know. He is probably working on those Androids as we speak. Neither of us are sure where his laboratory is. If we knew, we'd be paying him a visit instead of you. Nothing even comes close to rivaling the technology that gave them birth. It's mind boggling how strong they are."
Goku looks back up from the ground to the time traveling duo, and asks: "What is his plan? What is Dr. Gero trying to accomplish with them?" Trunks responds to the question: "No one really knows for sure. The very moment those things were able to think for themselves, they rebelled. And they've had their own twisted merciless agenda ever since. There is no rhyme or reason to what they do. They're machines of destruction. Their first act after being born was to turn against their own creator, Dr. Gero himself. They killed him. These Androids are ruthless. They delight in causing pain and chaos." Pan reenters the conversation: "Living on Earth in our time is like living in a nightmare. Always running, hiding, and looking for a way out."
Goku is shocked by this bit of information and adds his understanding of this new upcoming threat saying: "Man. Gosh… You both defeated Frieza and his father in a flash, and yet from what you're saying, these Androids are even stronger than the both of you."
Pan confirms Goku's assumption of the Androids' strength. "They are, for sure. Hunting both of us down is one of their favorite hobbies, but we may be even in numbers, two against two, there isn't much we can do against them except run."
Goku is especially shocked to hear this from Pan, and he asks about the Z-Fighters in their future. Trunks replies with what was the most shocking thing at the time of this scene in the original Dragon Ball Z episode: "They're dead. Three years from now, the Z-Fighters will be gone. We're all that's left. We're doing the best we can; they're all gone. Vegeta, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Piccolo. They're all going to lose their lives against the Androids in a horrible battle. There will only be two survivors. Those people are Gohan and Videl, but then, 13 years later, they finally get them."
Pan has a look of sadness on her face from remembering when she was told about this. This doesn't go unnoticed by Goku, though. Trunks continues on: "That was four years ago in our time, and as you already know, Piccolo is gone, so there's no chance of reviving anyone with the Dragon Balls. Making the time machine also cost us many, many precious lives. So many have suffered at the hands of those mechanical beasts. DARN THEM! MAN! They're just far too strong."
The next question Goku has is something he didn't think to ask about: "Something came to mind that I didn't ask. What happens to me in your future? Do I die in the battle as well?" Pan answers his question: "Nope. You actually die before the battle even happens, 6 months before the Androids arrive, to be specific."
Trunks tells the full-blooded Saiyan that he is supposed to die from a Heart Virus, apologizes to Goku for both himself and Pan for being the bearers of bad news, and explains the specifics of the Heart Virus. "It's a radical virus. You'll start hearing about it soon. Not even a Super Saiyan can overcome this virus."
Goku expresses his thoughts on what he's been told: "What a bummer. Being killed by a stupid virus. What a waste. Darn it. I want to fight those Androids. I don't even get to take a crack at them." Trunks and Pan are surprised to hear this from Goku. Pan asks Goku: "You mean after everything you've heard, you still want to fight them? Aren't you scared of them at all?" To which Goku responds: "Well, yeah, a little bit. All challenges are scary at first. Maybe I can make a difference."
Trunks gives Goku a smile and says: "A guy like you probably could; you're a true warrior. My mother, Gohan and Videl were all right about you, Goku." After he says this, Trunks gives Goku an antidote for that Heart Virus. Once Goku is given the antidote, he asks Pan about her origin, seeing as Trunks told him his origin story.
"Well, Goku. I suppose I can tell you. My parents are Gohan and Videl, the same kids that are standing with the rest of the Z-Fighters. I was born seven years after the Androids killed most of the Z-Fighters. The specific age/year was 774, which is ten years from now." Goku is kind of surprised by this revelation, but not by much, because in the few short moments he saw Gohan and Videl together, he knew that they would eventually marry and have kids of their own.
Of course, he knows what this implies, and internally thinks to himself: "Pan is my granddaughter." And he continues out loud: "'Grandpa Goku' has a nice ring to it. Revelation aside, I appreciate you guys warning us about the Androids. Speaking of the Androids, could you guys describe what they look like? I want to be sure of what we need to look for; I don't want us to go in blindly finding them and making unnecessary assumptions. That, and I want to know if we can sense the Androids."
Trunks answers Goku's first question: "Their names are Android 17 and Android 18. Android 17 is a young teenage boy with black hair that reaches down to his shoulders, with an orange scarf around his neck, a black T-Shirt with the Red Ribbon Army logo on the left of it, he wears a white long-sleeved shirt underneath the black shirt, blue jeans, and a holster with a gun in it.
Android 18 is a teenage girl with blonde hair. She wears a blue denim vest and skirt with the Red Ribbon Army logo on the back of the vest, dark blue tights, a brown belt, brown boots, and a black shirt with white and black striped long sleeves. Something else to mention about the Androids is that they are twin siblings.
As for the second question... The Androids can't be sensed, because that's what they are: Androids. They aren't organic life forms like us. Anyway, we should be thanking you, Goku." Goku asks Trunks what he means by that, to which he replies: "Well, Pan and I felt alone since Gohan and Videl both died. But meeting you was like meeting a long lost relative, and in Pan's case, that's mostly the case.
Pan and I now have to return to our time, but we will return after the three years pass by for you. It will take roughly 10 months or so to refuel the Time Machine. So, if nothing happens to us, we will return to assist in the battle. Good luck with the training preparations."
Goku replies: "You said Vegeta was your father, Trunks, but you didn't say who your mother is." Trunks answers Goku's last question: "She's also standing over there with the rest of the Z-Fighters. Bulma is my mother."
For the last time, Goku is shocked, and falls backwards to the ground in a hysterical laughter. "Wow, Bulma and Vegeta, huh? Unbelievable. I thought Bulma was going to end up marrying Yamcha, but man, Vegeta?"
Trunks explains how Vegeta and Bulma end up together. As Trunks explains the details, Yamcha sneezes. After Trunks finishes explaining everything, he and Pan take their leave, feeling grateful for having the chance to meet Goku and the Z-Fighters in person, as well as seeing Gohan and Videl again.
(A/N: The next chapter will shift the story's focus to Mirai Trunks's timeline, as likes to classify him in DBZ. Hopefully, chapter 6 won't take as long as chapter 5 did. I can only pray that time will be in my favor.)
Edit: I had to revise this chapter a couple of times to avoid confusion with the anime's main events.
