Immune:
Once Harry Potter finished explaining to the Dursley's just how much danger they were in, he walked to the door.
'Where are you going?' Petunia shrieked.
'I'm leaving. I'll be an adult in the wizarding world in a couple of weeks, which means the wards Dumbledore put up with fail. I'm going to be long gone. I told you what could happen but I really don't care if he finds you and tortures you. You made it perfectly clear I was not wanted or part of this family, so now, I look out for me, no one else. But I will say you should leave if you want to live. He will come here as soon as the wards fall and none of you will stand a chance. He is a sadistic cruel bastard that hates muggles so he will have his fun torturing you lot, before he kills you.'
Harry looked once more at the people he had lived with since his parents were murdered. He really did hate them for the way they treated him, now he was leaving them to their fate. If they didn't listen to his warning, they only had themselves to blame.
Harry walked to the door, slipped his invisibility cloak on, making sure it covered his charmed bag then walked away from number four Privet drive for the last time. Harry had been looking forward to this day for years, now he could finally say goodbye to Privet drive and the Dursley's, for good.
Harry had sent Hedwig off already and told her to find him in a few days. By the time Harry got to a hotel in London, the Dursley's were in a heated discussion. Vernon refused to be intimidated, he refused to leave and refused to allow his wife and son to leave as well. Vernon believed harry was just trying to scare them, he wasn't going to be scared. Petunia on the other hand was going to talk to Dudley and make him stay with his friends from July thirty. She wanted to protect her son even if Vernon was putting the three of their lives in danger by staying. Petunia was also going to make sure she had her will up to date and that Dudley will know where everything was, just in case her and Vernon were killed. She remembered stories that lily told their parents, about some of the magic she would learn. Petunia knew just how painful their torture could be, if harry was right and she knew he was right. It was time she did what she could for her son. She may not survive, but she was determined that her son would.
Harry made sure he booked a room for a week before he made his way to Diagon alley. He knew sooner or later Voldemort would have control of the ministry which could mean he would have control of Gringotts. It was time to almost empty his vault and make sure he had money for the muggle world along with money for the wizarding world. He would leave just a few galleons in his vault in case some miracle happened and Voldemort didn't win.
It took almost all day but harry had money, he had new clothes and shoes along with a few other essentials that he thought he might need. He finally returned to his hotel room where he called for room service.
Harry had been doing a lot of thinking and making plans ever since Albus Dumbledore told him about the horcruxes and about the prophecy. The old man wanted Harry to tell his friends about the prophecy as he believed they would help him. So far, harry hadn't told his friends. Both Ron and Hermione had either turned on him or betrayed him. Ron did during their forth year and Hermione did that during their third year, then just recently, twice during their sixth year, three times altogether. He stopped trusting them, until they earned his trust back, more Hermione than Ron. Ron was slowly earning his trust back.
Harry learnt early on in life to never trust anyone. He made people believe he trusted them but he never did. He had begun to trust his godfather, then he was killed but he was the only one at the time he thought he could rely on. He knew right now, he would have to talk to some people, it didn't mean he would trust them. He no longer was going to allow anyone to rule his life or put him in situations that put him in danger.
Harry thought back to the night that Dumbledore died. He had glared at Hermione and yelled at her. She had refused to listen to him when he told her that Draco Malfoy was a death eater. She refused to listen to him when he said Snape couldn't be trusted. He was finally proven right and Hermione couldn't handle the fact that she had been wrong, that was when she turned on Harry for the third time. It would now be up to her if they remained friends. First, she would have to apologise to him and second, she would have to admit that Harry had been right and she had been wrong. Not just about Snape and Malfoy but also about the half-blood prince's book. It's like what Ron tried to tell Hermione, families often passed down books and many of them had writing in them, where they changed things or created new things. The Weasley twins had shown Harry a few books that used to belong to Bill, before Bill, they had belonged to an old uncle. There were a lot of changes in some of the spells, it was the same with potions. It was normal in the wizarding world to use other peoples books and notes. No matter what Ron, Harry or the twins said, Hermione refused to believe harry was right to use the half-blood prince's book.
'What am I going to do with Hermione? She'll be at the Burrow soon but hopefully long after I've had a chance to speak with Ron.'
This was another reason he had not told his friends about the prophecy or the horcruxes. Hermione always believed she was right, yet if it was proven that she was wrong, she refuse to admit it or apologise. If he told her about this, she would begin to make plans and would expect Harry and Ron to do things her way. She would not listen to others, especially Harry and Ron. The prophecy meant him, so really, it was up to Harry to decide what to do.
Harry continued to think and plan over the next few days. He enjoyed his time alone but he knew with Voldemort and his death eaters around, he had to work with others so he would have to get to the Burrow.
It was five days after Harry left the Dursley's that he arrived at the Burrow. He stared at the strange but wonderful house before slowly making his way towards the house. He was expecting one of the Weasley's to confront him, as their wards would have told them someone was there.
Bill, Charlie and Arthur hurried outside but the three of them kept their wands pointed at the person who looked like Harry Potter.
'Um, so you know it's me Mr Weasley, you said something to Ginny about not trusting anything if you can't see where it's brain is, or something like that, that was after the chamber of secrets. Also, I was the one that told Ron that you had been attacked by a big snake at the ministry. Oh, and Charlie, you secretly told me what the four dragons where and gave me some idea's on what to do against each of them.'
'Damn Harry, you were supposed to wait until we picked you up,' Arthur said.
'I thought doing that would put you all in danger. It was simple for me to leave straight away. I did, I've been staying in muggle London for the last week and finally got around to doing some shopping. I warned the Dursley's of the danger but I really don't care what they do. I'm finally rid of those...people,' Harry glared, 'Anyway, how are you all?'
Charlie and Bill chuckled while they stared at Harry and how casual he acted.
'Come inside, I'm sure Molly will want to see you. As for your questions, apart from being a bit stressed, we're all fine.'
After greeting Ron's mum, he did ask if he could stay for a while but he would need to stay in his own room now. If she couldn't work it, then he would return to a muggle hotel.
Molly ended up getting Percy's old room cleaned up for Harry. She said with Harry and Ron being adults, or harry was about to be, they would need their own space. She would have given him the twins old room but there was a chance that they might need to escape and come to the Burrow.
Harry dumped his bag in the room before he went to find his friend. He found him lying on his bed, reading a quidditch magazine.
'You look comfy,' Harry grinned.
'Harry,' Ron said in surprise before he jumped up, 'What are you doing here so early?'
'I wasn't going to allow others to be put in danger just to get me from that place. I left straight away and stayed in London for a while. I desperately needed clothes that fit along with shoes. Oh, I got you some jeans and a hoodie as well.'
'I've told you before not to buy me stuff Harry,' Ron growled.
'Yeah, but i thought you would like these and since I bought a few for myself, I decided to get you some. I'll show you later, now I need to talk to you, seriously about something and we need privacy until we can work some things out.'
'Down in the orchard, we can say we're having a fly.'
'Good idea.'
Harry and Ron got their brooms and headed outside and down to the apple orchard. When they knew no one was watching them they ended up sitting on the grass. Harry was facing Ron but he was also facing the house.
'Is this about those meetings with Dumbledore?'
'Some of it, yeah. Even though I was told to tell you and Hermione, after the way she treated me, I decided not to. I would still like you to keep this from her until she finally admits she was wrong and apologises to me.'
'She was wrong. I might fancy her Harry but I know, just like you do, how stubborn she can be. I worked out that her main problem with the book was because you beat her in potions and she hated you beating her in potions. I also know how she likes to believe in people like teachers or parents. She refused to believe you about Snape and look what the slimy bastard did.'
'Exactly, if she would have listened to me, that might not have happened. It might have but at least we could have worked on some plans in the hope to prevent it. Anyway, the stuff Dumbledore was showing me was memories of...Tom,' Harry grinned at his friend, 'I know you hate hearing the V name so I'll say Tom from now on.'
'Thanks, I just couldn't help it when you said...that name. So memories, of him, why?'
'They started from when he was eleven. Even though I know enough about the bastard, I wasn't really interested in knowing more. I put up with the memories since I know how the old man worked. He only liked to give out information when he was ready. I figured he wouldn't tell me until all the memories were seen.'
'So did he have information that you needed to know? Also, did he show the order of the phoenix?'
'No, only me, which I don't agree with. This is the first thing I want to talk to you about. You know what i'm like with trust mate and right now, I don't really trust anyone. You made up for it so I began to trust you again. I care about your parents, yet they listened to Dumbledore even after you and the twins told them I was locked up and being starved. To me, they cared more about the old man than a child being abused. I just can't trust them anymore. The twins I do, I don't really know your other brothers that much. Also, I don't trust the order because they basically became my jailers just because the old man told them to. I'm sure they knew how wrong that was but they did it.'
'Too many people listened to him harry and we've seen enough to know that he didn't seem to care about protecting kids. Dad did speak with me and the twins about that, how you hadn't eaten. He wasn't sure if he believed us until the three of us offered to give a magical vow that what we told him was the truth. Um, sorry but the twins did tell him what was written on the wall inside the cupboard,' Ron said uncomfortably.
'I knew they saw it and worked it out. It's fine, I told the Dursley's i didn't care if they were killed now I was leaving. They didn't want me before, now I don't want them. Anyway, what did your dad say?'
'He finally believed us and said even if mum still listened to Dumbledore, he would be keeping a closer eye on you. He helped us send you food during the holidays. He also said to us that until...Tom Returned, you weren't in anymore danger than anyone else so you could have stayed here.'
'That's true, it also means I can trust your dad. Okay, I'll explain something to you, I need your opinion on this but also on something else I worked out that the old man didn't tell me. Just remember, this can't be spoken about, it would mean he will never be killed. It's that serious Ron.'
'I won't say anything unless you tell me I can.'
'Thanks,' Harry gave his friend a smile, 'Okay, he made dark items which keeps him alive, even if he loses his body like what happened when he killed my parents. These items have to be destroyed first, before he will die. His soul inside him can't move on while these items are still here.'
'So say if someone got a lucky shot at him, he could return doing that ritual again.'
'Yes, that could happen, if someone tries to kill him.'
'Well, we could get rid of the bones to stop that ritual in case it takes a long time to find these items.'
Harry grinned, 'That is a brilliant idea and I think you and I can do that as soon as I'm seventeen. Anyway, Dumbledore doesn't know where the items are, but two are destroyed. Dumbledore found a ring that Tom used, the old man destroyed it but it's what cursed his hand. Dumbledore put the damn thing on. Anyway, that was destroyed. The diary that possessed Ginny, that was also one.'
'You stabbed it. Did that destroy it?'
'Yes, so those two are gone. I have them in my bag. There are four more Ron, or four that Dumbledore told me about. He had no idea where they are or if his guesses were right. Now he figured all this out when I showed him the diary. It was then that he began to work on what tom might have used, which is why he had the memories. In four years, he only found one so I'm not sure how well we'll go. Anyway, I can explain what he believes they are but I have a problem.'
'Okay, so four items and why in the name of merlin didn't he tell the order? Isn't that what he put the order together for, to help with...Tom?'
'It was, yet for some reason, he only told me. I don't know why he never told the order, but I'm glad he didn't, when Snape proved he was really a death eater. If he told the order, Snape would have told tom. If he knew the old man figured out about these items, he would have got them and re-hid them or kept them with him.'
'You're right, Snape would have told him. So apart from trying to find them and figure out who we can absolutely trust, what is this problem?'
'I think there's another one that he didn't tell me about.'
'Why would he tell you about six and not the other one? That doesn't make sense.'
'No but in a way it does when I'm the other one. Think about it Ron. I get pain in my scar when I'm near him. I speak parseltongue. I saw your dad get attacked and I felt like it was me when it was the snake. Oh the snake is one. Don't you see, two connected which is why I was seeing your dad get attacked from the snake's point of view.'
'So we have to figure out a way to get this dark magic out of you. But I don't get how two bits of dark magic can connect when they weren't next to each other.'
Harry sighed, 'It's souls Ron, his soul, or bits of his soul and he was controlling the soul in the snake. That's what he did, he split a bit of his soul and put them into the items like the diary. He has to kill to do this, so I think I was an accident or he planned to make another that night. His body disappeared when he tried to kill me, if he split another piece, he wasn't there anymore to get it into the item he planned to use. It's either that or somehow it just split when he disappeared. Why I believe that I was an accident is because he keeps trying to kill me. If I was planned and he knew it, then he would want to keep me, not kill me. I don't know, I just know that he can't die without all of them being destroyed.'
'There's an easy way to find out if he meant to make you one mate. If he meant to make one that night then he would have had some item on him, right?'
'Right, which means it would still be in the house. You know, I don't even know where the house is or if it's still damaged. Dumbledore did say that he sealed it after getting my parents bodies out of there. He used my blood that he took from me that night. He said I might want to remove a few things from the house when I was older. He told me that during our second year, before he knew about the diary but when I asked where they lived, he refused to tell me. So you think we should find out where the house is, see what he might have used, if he was going to make another?'
'Yeah but Harry, everyone knows you were in the Potter cottage at Godric's hollow. I know you didn't want to read those books but it mentions that the Potter retreat was destroyed not long after your grandparents died, from dragon pox. Your father didn't want to fix it and live there so they stayed in the cottage that your grandparents bought your dad as a wedding present. But with magic, the cottage looks normal outside but it's a lot bigger on the inside. That's all it said about the cottage. It mainly went on about how the Potter family has lived in Godric's hollow for nearly a thousand years, from the time Gryffindor lived there. They weren't known as Potter back then though.'
'What was the name?'
'I don't know, I never studied anything to do with your ancestors. You could probably do a bit of research when you want to.'
'Yeah, I might, when this is over. Okay, so back to this problem, not just the items but me as well. Also, the prophecy, it might have broken but the old man showed me the memory of when the prophecy was made. It's basically me that has to kill him or he kills me. If this thing in my scar can't be taken out, then he has to kill me before he can die. I don't want too many to know or they might just kill me so they have a chance.'
'You know we wouldn't do that mate, but you are right, there are some who would do anything to save their arse. How about we talk to Bill? He's a curse breaker, he might know about these things or he might know someone that does. He does study the dark arts, it's so he know how to break dark curses.'
'Well, we have to do something which means trusting someone. How about it's just your dad and Bill, for now, maybe the twins can be told later.'
'I'll talk to dad later. Bill and Fleur are going to be here every day working on the wedding plans.'
'Do you think that's safe to have a wedding? I mean the rat lived here for years, so even if the Burrow was put under the fidelius charm, he could see landmarks that he knows is near the property. It's like the park across the street from Grimmauld place. I was taken there before I was given the note with permission to enter. Even if we put another fidelius around that house, Snape would know the park and know the house is there, he just can't see it or remember anything about it. It's the same with the rat, he knows where the Burrow is.'
'Maybe we can mention that to Bill and dad after we explain about these items.'
'Okay, so for now, let's have a fly. I could do with some stress relief and flying always helps.'
'You're on.'
Ron and harry spent the next few hours flying all around the property. They even went for a fly over to the Lovegoods place. They saw Luna, who was dancing around the garden so they gave her a wave. She waved back before going back to her dancing. After they began to get hungry, they flew back to the Burrow.
The two boys put their brooms over their shoulders and entered the house.
'Is that a Firebolt?' Charlie said with wide eyes.
'Yep, it sure is. Sirius got it for Harry,' Ron said giving Harry a smile.
'Is it as fast as I've heard?'
Harry grinned, 'Oh yeah, no one was able to catch me on this. From one seeker to another, you can have a go if you want. You would never ride a better broom than this.'
'I'll take you up on that Harry, thanks.'
'Go clean up, dinner will be ready in ten minutes,' Molly said.
Both of them nodded but Ron did give his dad a look and gestured with his head towards the stairs. Arthur nodded back.
Harry and Ron did clean up before going into Ron's room where his father was waiting. Between both the boys, they explained to Arthur that they needed to talk to him and Bill, but privately and it was serious and about some dangerous information. Harry explained about his problem with trust so for now, he only wanted those two men to hear what he had to say. Arthur wasn't sure what harry was going to tell him but he agreed to get bill and they could talk privately after dinner.
Harry and Ron kept talking about quidditch during dinner, mainly with Charlie, who was the seeker for Gryffindor when he was at the school. Molly just smiled at the three boys at how excited they sounded, talking about quidditch.
Right after everyone finished eating, Arthur spoke with his wife in private. He explained Harry's problem with trust and since everyone kept listening to Albus even though Harry had been kept as a prisoner and starved with the Dursley's, it made harry wary about trusting any one. Arthur explained that right now Harry was reaching out to him and that he had some dangerous information that Albus told him so for now, Harry was only going to share that will Arthur and Bill. Molly didn't like it but she knew that Harry always kept a bit of emotional distance from everyone except Sirius Black. She decided to allow her husband to deal with this and just hoped one day Harry came to trust her and others.
As soon as Harry, Ron, Bill and Arthur got comfortable in the living room, Bill did cast some wards to prevent anyone hearing anything or coming in. Harry then began to explain about the meetings he had with Dumbledore and what they were about. Bill and Arthur were confused about why Albus would show Harry memories of Voldemort from years ago. They did not believe knowing the crazy dark wizard would help destroy him. It was when Harry finally told them about why Dumbledore showed him the memories, it was how he found out or guessed what items Voldemort used for his horcruxes.
After explaining about the horcruxes and how Dumbledore only informed Harry, Bill and Arthur had wanted to know everything. That's what Ron and Harry did, they told Arthur and Bill everything that had happened during their years at Hogwarts.
Bill and Arthur were shocked but they were also angry. Harry and Ron ended up having to drink a lot while they spoke, but they told the two older men everything that had happened that they had been involved in since they began at Hogwarts.
'Harry, I need to speak with Charlie about something. I won't say anything about those items, unless you give me permission, but I think he might be able to help.' Bill said.
'Would you trust him with your lives?'
'Yes, with Ginny's, Ron's, all of our lives, including yours.'
'Alright, you can tell him,' Harry nodded wearily.
'Even though we're all tired, it would be best to get all this out while we can,' Arthur said the moment Bill left the room.
'I'd rather get as much information out now then have to keep going over it.'
'What do you think Bill wants to talk to Charlie about?' Ron asked.
'I noticed Bill seemed to tense a little during one part of the information Harry gave. I'm not sure what this is about except it has something to do with the time in the chamber of secrets.'
The three fell silent. Arthur was trying to get his head around everything the two boys told him. He was also thinking about how lucky they were. So many times, harry, along with two of his own children could have died and he, along with Molly had no idea, nor were they told. They had trusted Albus with their children but it was Harry that had saved not only his life but Ron's and Ginny's life as well.
Harry couldn't stop wondering how they could stop Voldemort and if he would survive. His life has never been good but he had fought so hard for years, in the hope he would finally get a decent life. He wasn't sure if that was going to happen.
Ron kept thinking about what he and harry had been saying. He came to the conclusion that someone or maybe more than one person had almost caused Harry's death, along with his own death and that of his younger sister. Ron was beginning to understand why Harry stopped trusting Albus Dumbledore.
Arthur, Ron and harry looked at the door when it opened fifteen minutes later. Bill and Charlie walked in, but Charlie and Bill had a books in their hands.
'I had Fleur bring me a book on these items. We learn how to find them early in our career since they are dangerous. If they get broken in a simple way, the soul can leave and possess a person so we had to know how to handle them,' Bill said taking a seat, 'Once I spoke to charlie, he had a book that will explain something. Charlie, let harry read that part, then we can talk.'
Charlie flipped the pages, then held out the book, 'As you know, I am a dragon handler but I also studied all magical creatures. I got my masters in magical creatures. This is one of the books that only masters can buy. Read the both pages.'
Harry made sure Ron could read at the same time. The living room was quiet while they read the book.
Harry read it but kept staring at the words wondering why Charlie asked him to read this and why Bill believes it was important. Ron stared over at his brother.
'I don't get it. I mean, yeah, it's interesting and it's a miracle harry survived, but I still don't get it,' Ron said.
'Neither do I,' harry said as he finally looked up.
'Since you survived, thanks to phoenix tears, it means you are now immune to basilisk venom. You are immune to all snake venom since the basilisk is basically the king of serpents.' Charlie said.
'That's good to know. So is that why you wanted me to read this?'
'No,' Bill said, 'I had a theory and Charlie explained about this, how you are immune, I thought this could help. One thing that made me believe it will work is that a horcrux can be destroyed with basilisk venom. Then you told me how you stabbed the diary. Nothing else apart from fiend fyre would have destroyed that book and saved Ginny. And at your age at the time, you would not have known about it or be able to cast it. Anyway, we can get into big explanations later. What I believe is that now you are immune, thanks to Fawkes, I am positive that we could use some venom on your scar, which will destroy the horcrux but you will not be affected.'
'Oh, okay, now I get what this is about. So you put venom in my scar, the horcrux dies, we're one step closer to destroying him.'
'Are you sure harry will survive?' Ron asked.
'Yes, I'm positive,' Charlie said, 'It's happened once before. Hundreds of years ago, a woman was raising a basilisk, she was accidentally bitten when the snake went to bite a wizard who was there to kill her. Anyway, the woman knew she would die and stayed lying with her snake. A phoenix flew in and began to drop tears in her wound. She survived. She never found out where the phoenix came from or how it knew she needed help. She was bitten by other snakes, she was fine in every way, even when a few of those snakes were deadly. The woman and the snake went into hiding after that. No one saw her but she did write a book about basilisks, adding her story. It was verified that she was immune the day she died, of old age. Healers did a lot of tests on her blood. They wanted to find out if they could create a potion that would allow everyone to end up immune from snake venom. They couldn't work it but to this day, many healers have gone over the information to see if they can create a potion.'
'So we need to get to Hogwarts,' Ron said as he stared at Harry who was once again staring down at the book.
'It will have to be straight away. There are rumours going around that once he has control, he plans to have his death eaters at Hogwarts and one will end up headmaster,' Arthur said.
'We can go tomorrow. Um, since Charlie is the master of creatures, he would know how to remove the teeth and maybe we could take the venom from the sacks.'
'I've done that type of thing before, so that's no problem. We could probably floo straight into McGonagall's office.'
'It would be safer and no one will see us,' Arthur said.
'What about our idea about removing the bones?' Ron asked.
'It's a good idea and should have been done straight away,' Arthur said.
'Um, we could do it all tomorrow. I mean, me and Charlie could go to Hogwarts and the chamber of secrets while you lot do the bones. I only suggest splitting up because we don't know how long we have before he ends up in control,' Harry said.
'That works. I might get the twins to come with us, to keep watch. Since it was his muggle ancestral home, he could have people watching it,' Arthur said, 'I'll speak with them in the morning. It's late, we're all stressed, I think we should all get some sleep before we continue this.'
'Yeah, I'm knackered,' Harry said.
They spoke for a few more minutes before Ron and Harry headed upstairs. Bill and his father began to tell charlie what they had been told about Ron, Ginny and Harry's years at Hogwarts. By the end of it, Charlie was also furious at Albus Dumbledore and the staff of Hogwarts. He explained to his father and brother that only the basilisk can petrify. There were spells that could but they weren't as strong as the stare from a basilisk. The spells didn't make you stiff like a basilisk would. But Charlie went into a tantrum about why the staff didn't research, like what Hermione did. She found the information within hours. Bill had to calm his brother down but they were all furious. They almost lost Ginny, then Ron and Harry as well. They could have lost the twins along with Percy if that snake got up into the great hall during meal times.
The three Weasley men realised just how much danger Percy, George, Fred, Ron and Ginny were in, along with Harry and every other student at Hogwarts. Albus Dumbledore did nothing to protect the students, any of the students, yet it took Harry, at twelve to save Ginny. They realised they had been taken in by Albus when they should have begun to ask questions. One thing they all agreed with, they would not be talking to anyone who had trust and faith in Albus Dumbledore. They threw around a few names of people from the order who might help them and who didn't automatically believe everything Albus Dumbledore said. Fleur would be told, she still feels she owes Harry but she also came to care about him, so she would help. Mad-eye was another one, they also believed Kingsley would be another.
Arthur asked about Remus, it was Bill that explained that Remus basically deserted Harry on Dumbledore's orders. The man who was supposed to be close to Lily and James Potter didn't even send their son a birthday card after his parents died. Even after they first met when Harry was thirteen, still Remus didn't do anything like write to Harry. He left and Harry never heard from him again until the order of the phoenix was formed, yet Remus hardly spoke to Harry, not like Sirius did.
Arthur realised Remus listened to Albus and if they explained about Harry, Remus might be one of those people who would see that killing Harry was the only way to save their world. The Weasley family will never allow anyone to kill Harry. Not only did he save Ginny, Ron and Arthur, he had been forced to live with people who abused him just because Albus Dumbledore said it was safer. Arthur knew that more would have been killed if it wasn't for Harry destroying Voldemort when he was a baby. It was time harry got a better life and he had people that supported him. They were going to be the ones that were going to help with. They weren't sure if they could find the horcruxes but they would try, that's all they could do.
From the time Harry woke the following morning and went downstairs, he noticed how Mrs Weasley seemed to be giving him more attention. She was being very affectionate. It took him a while to work out why, Mr Weasley or Ron must have told her how he, Harry didn't really trust anyone because of the way he was treated and no one helped him. He ended up giving Mrs Weasley a hug when she placed a plate of food in front of him.
'You and I can leave after we eat. Dad and the others can do that later,' Charlie said.
'Go where?' Molly asked.
'We can't say just now mum. Let's give it a bit of time and we might be able to explain. Just know this is important but harry has to go with me to do this. Don't worry, I'll make sure he's okay,' Charlie said.
Molly didn't like it but she knew it had to do with what Arthur told her. She decided to leave it for now.
It only took Harry and Charlie an hour before they were back at the Burrow. Fleur explained that Bill, Arthur, Ron the twins were gone to do that thing. Again Molly didn't like it and was going to talk to her husband and harry to find out what was going on.
'What's going to happen if he ends up in control?' Harry asked looking at Charlie, Fleur and Mrs Weasley.
'The fidelius charm would be good but because of the rat, he would know roughly where this place is. I'm not sure if there is anything that will keep them out,' Charlie said.
'There might be something but I would need to go to Grimmauld place to have a look. See, Sirius explained some things about his family. Now even though they were dark, there is something that could help. It's not illegal but it is considered almost dark magic. It won't affect any of us but it could save all our lives.'
'We'll do whatever we have to Harry, all of us will. We will not dismiss dark magic if it means saving lives. We just won't use it to hurt or kill someone. Many of us believe that all magic can be used but it's the intent of when you use a spell that could make it dark and illegal. Take the killing curse, it was originally invented to kill animals, like cows, pigs and chickens. It killed them quickly and painlessly. It was adopted by healers for people who were dying but they were suffering. If the person gave permission, then the healer could use that spell. It became illegal when dark witches and wizards began to use it to kill their enemies. But about what this dark magic is, can you tell us what you mean?' Molly asked.
Harry stared at his friends mother for a few minutes, going over what she said. He decided to explain.
'Around four hundred years ago, one of the Blacks created dangerous wards. No one, no matter who it was, could ever break them down.'
'It sounds good so far, keep going' Charlie said.
'Okay, the dark part, without it being illegal is that if someone tries to break them so they can get into the home, they die. The Blacks called them death wards. The ministry believed if someone wanted to break into someone's home, they were not good people so they never made these wards illegal. They just classed them as dark. Sirius said that the ministry today probably doesn't even know they exist. Anyway, Sirius told me that if anything happened to him that I would get everything, including the head of the Black family. He explained that we were distantly related so he was able to leave it to me. I checked with Gringotts when I was there and they gave me the key to the Black vault. I can access the book with those wards in it, I just don't know how to do them since I've never learnt any of that at Hogwarts.'
'Between dad, Bill and Mad-eye, they can do them. I would even bet the twins could.' Charlie said.
'I saw my father do the wards for our home, they are tricky but it's easy enough to learn,' Fleur said.
'I might study things like that since we're all going to be in hiding soon.' Harry said.
'Then after we all eat and after Arthur is back, I believe you, Ron, Arthur, Bill and Charlie go to Grimmauld place. I only suggest the others in case Snape brings death eaters,' Molly said.
'Can that charm be done again now that the secret keeper is dead?' Harry asked.
'Yeah but the owner would need to be in the house, which is you,' Charlie said, 'we could use it as another safe house because there's bound to be many that will have to leave their homes.'
'It's big enough to house a lot of people. It's not like I want the place but it is just sitting there. Okay, so I'll get your dad to look at the ward book, if he can do it or I can after he explains it to me, it would keep all of us safe having those wards. The rat might decide to sneak around again. If he did, he would die,' Harry said.
It wasn't long before Arthur and the others returned from removing all the bones from Voldemort's father's grave. They began to eat their lunch while Harry explained about the ward the Black's created.
'I've heard Sirius mention the death wards, they are impossible to break. I didn't know it was his family that created them. I know wards, so if it's okay with you Harry, I'll check it out to see if there are any faults or holes that might need fixing.' Bill said.
'That's fine with me. I just hope they work which will keep all of us safe.'
After eating, Harry, Ron, Arthur and Bill used the floo to Grimmauld place. They stayed silent but Harry did speak with Kreacher to find out if anyone had been there or is there now. Kreacher had no choice but to tell harry when he ordered the house elf to tell the truth. No one had been there and no one was there now.
Harry led the way to the library where the ward book was, which was one of the shelves. It just looked like a normal book. Harry only knew what it looked like because Sirius had showed it to him the last time they were at the house together. Only the person who was the head of the black family could remove the book from the shelf. It's why Sirius left it there as he knew no one but him could remove it. If he died, then Harry could remove the book which would keep anyone in the house safe. Harry took the book from the shelf and held it out to Bill. He wanted to see if Bill and Arthur could read it, they could. Both men studied the wards while Harry and Ron watched them.
'We should use these dad. They are actually perfect. It won't matter how powerful or how many curse breakers he had, they wouldn't get through. But if they kept pushing, the ones trying to break in will die.'
'I agree Bill. But we keep this between us, just the family. That means Harry and Fleur as well. Is that alright with you Harry?'
'Um, yeah, but what about people like Mad-eye and Kingsley. It could keep their homes safe.'
'What we can do with others is we do the ward. We tell them what it does so they know how deadly they are but not how to do them. This way they can give permission for someone to enter, others would end up dead,' Bill said.
'I like that. This way if someone else gets captured, they can't tell the death eaters about these wards.' Harry said. 'If this is ever over, then the wards can be removed.'
'Wouldn't Bellatrix know though harry, she's a Black by birth?' Ron asked.
'Sirius said the book had been lost or hidden for a couple of hundred years. He found it when he came back here so the order could use it. He opened all the rooms up, including his parents room. No one could enter his parents room if either of them were still alive. Once they were dead, he could. His parents died while he had been in Azkaban and no one had been able to open the house during that time. Sirius began to check for dark object but he found a secret compartment, which was where the book was. He thinks since that wardrobe has been in that room for hundreds of years, that's how long the book was in there. It was his parents room and that room was always used by the head of the house. He wasn't sure if he was right but he believed since he was head of house, it allowed him to open the secret compartment. Also, he doesn't know for sure if his parents found it but Sirius said no one ever mentioned it when he was younger so he didn't think they did. He was always listening in to things his family talked about. He said by the look of it, no one had opened it in a long time, he was talking hundreds of years.'
'Then hopefully, no one but us know about this,' Arthur said, 'But even if she did see the book, I doubt she would remember all of it now, not after all the years she spent in Azkaban. Alright, let's get this house done then we can do the Burrow and Shell cottage. We will have to do Muriel's place as well.'
'We can offer it to the Lovegood and Diggorys as well,' Ron said.
'Yes, we'll explain to them then it is up to them if they want these type of wards,' Arthur said.
It didn't take Bill long to put the new wards around the house. He taught Harry how to do them at the same time. They decided not to worry about the fidelius charm. If Snape tried to get in, then he would die. Since Harry was the owner of the house, he could give permission for anyone to get in and pass the death wards, then they would be safe. Harry didn't say it but he hoped Snape did try to enter the house then their would have one less death eater. If he did come to the house, he probably would not come alone. Harry hoped Bellatrix and Pettigrew would be with him. One good thing about the ward, if anyone was inside the property when it was cast, they were automatically given permission to enter.
Bill did the Burrow the moment they arrived, then he picked up his soon to be wife. They went to shell cottage to do their home. Arthur spoke with his wife, then went to explain to the twins about the new ward which meant Arthur would have to bring them in the first time. Once he explained to the twins, Arthur went to Muriel's to do her home. They would speak with the Lovegoods and Diggorys the following day.
Arthur arrived back with Ginny. Bill and Fleur arrived not long after. Arthur said they would contact Mad-eye and Kingsley the following day. They would also speak with Remus and Tonks about the wards. Both of them were also in a lot of danger.
'I think we should do Harry's scar straight away,' Ron said, 'That way we know he's safe,' he stared at harry.
'Then how about after dinner. We're not sure if this could hurt or make him tired. As I explained before, there wasn't anything written about how she felt.'
'I would like it done as soon as possible. The ache seems to be getting worse. It gets hard to concentrate,' harry said.
'Then right after we eat, we'll get that out of you,' charlie said, 'You know, with all his years of experience, you would think that old man would have heard of this or maybe tried to find another way, but he didn't.'
'Will you be able to explain all this to me soon?' Molly asked.
Everyone turned to look at harry who nodded, 'All of it though, it would be best if she heard the truth. It's under the fidelius charm now so it makes it impossible for anyone to find out about this if they were questioned.'
'Then after we have dealt with Harry's scar, we will talk Molly.' Arthur said.
Ginny had been watching and listening. She had no idea what was going on. She also noticed that harry hadn't looked at her or spoken to her. He said they had to break up, she hadn't liked it but he never really explained why. He said he had a job to do, now he was here, staying at the Burrow so she couldn't understand why they couldn't be together. She realised she was going to have to speak with him, somewhere alone. By the sound of the conversations going around, it wouldn't be that day, she would have to wait until the following day. Then she was determined to get harry back.
Everyone decided to just enjoy the company and the good food while they can. They knew things were going to change soon and they knew just how dangerous their world was about to get. They decided to be together and enjoy their time, while they can. They were safe inside the wards but they all knew they could not stay like that forever. Sooner or later they would have to go out and get things, like food or clothes.
Right after dinner, Bill, Charlie and Ron went with Harry up to the room he was using. They were going to get rid of the piece of Voldemort's soul from behind Harry's scar. Arthur took his wife into the living room and began to tell her everything that Ron and Harry had explained. At first Molly was in tears when she found out what three of her sons and Harry was doing. Then she began to get angry when she found out exactly what Harry's life had been like with the muggles. By the time Arthur explained about the dangers their children and Harry had been in at Hogwarts, Molly was furious. She was so angry that she swore, she was cursing so bad and all at Albus Dumbledore, it took Arthur a while to to calm his wife down. Arthur knew that if Albus was still alive, he would be facing a very angry Molly Weasley.
Bill and Charlie had entered the room to hear their mother swearing. They were shocked. They had never heard their mother swear before.
'How's harry?' Arthur asked the moment he saw his two oldest sons.
'Fine, a little sore and tired but fine. He said he felt a surge of something like electricity going into him before he sagged. It bled a bit so he went to have a shower. Ron was staying close, just to make sure Harry was okay,' Bill said, 'I'm heading home but me and Fleur will be back tomorrow. We have to work on having the guests get here for the wedding, without putting them or any of us in danger.'
'Bill, maybe we can work on having the wedding at Fleur's families home. I know i would love to have it here, but right now, it may be too dangerous. We won't know if a guest is in their right mind or someone might be using polyjuice potion. You explained that these new wards, we're safe now but we might accidentally bring in someone that could kill,' Molly said.
'That would be easy to arrange. We can also have Fleur's father organise portkeys. We just need to work on how many and where they will leave from and return to.'
'Let's talk tomorrow, it's been a long stressful day,' Arthur said.
After Bill and Fleur left, everyone drifted off to their rooms to get some sleep.
Harry was sitting at the table early the following morning, talking quietly to Ron's parents. They asked harry about the surge he felt, but he couldn't explain it, just that he felt like he got a lot of energy or something for that few seconds right after it was destroyed. None of them could explain or had any idea what it meant. Harry went on to explained more about his meetings with Dumbledore, he also explained more about Hermione and why he didn't want her to know anything or be involved in anything. They agreed that Hermione will not be involved in any meetings.
'Harry, we were told that you and Ginny dated, but you broke up with her. Can you tell us why?' Arthur asked.
'Um, well, I knew I would be busy and because of the prophecy, I figured it wasn't worth getting involved with anyone. But really, I don't like Ginny in that way. I mean i like her, she's a great girl but i don't like her in a romantic way. I never said anything, she just kissed me and from then on, we were dating. I've been trying to find a way to break it off without hurting her too much. As you know, I like all of you, all of you red heads, but I figured out years ago that I don't want to date a red head.'
'With the way our daughter acted around you, I would say she will eventually speak with you about dating. It's best to be honest with her straight away. I did hear from Ron that she dated another boy, Dean,' Molly said, 'From what Ron said, they seemed to get on very well.'
'They seemed happy when I saw them but to be honest, I wasn't taking any notice. I had so much on my mind, romance or who was dating who wasn't something I was thinking about.'
'Yes, after you explained about the meetings and what Albus told you, I could understand how all that would consume you,' Arthur said.
None of them knew it but Ginny had overheard what everyone said. She now knew there was no use talking to harry. For a quick second she thought of dying her hair but she realised she couldn't. She had to be herself. She also wasn't sure if harry would like her just because she dyed her hair. He said he didn't, not in a romantic way. She finally realised she should have stayed with Dean. She really liked him and it was her fault that they broke up. She wondered if Dean would talk to her if she sent him a letter. She knew that all she could do was try.
No one at the Burrow knew it but the previous night, not long before Bill began to take the soul out of Harry, Severus Snape lead a large group of death eaters to Grimmauld place. One of Voldemort's spies had seen movement through the window so Snape believed Harry Potter was hiding in the house. He still had the note that Albus Dumbledore gave him, so he allowed all of them to read the permission note. The moment anyone entered the house, they dropped dead. Twelve ended up dying before the others realised that a deadly ward had been placed on the house.
Severus, Bellatrix, Rodolphus, Rabastan, Lucius, Narcissa and many other top ranking death eaters died at Grimmauld place. They were found by the muggles, who saw the people or bodies lying just inside the open door. They instantly called the muggle police.
Charlie had gone to see Remus and Tonks that morning while Bill and Fleur went to visit the Lovegood's and the Diggory's. Arthur planned to go see Kingsley and Mad-eye after breakfast.
'So while they are speaking with others about these wards, I wanted to ask if you knew or even guessed where these other items are?' Molly asked as she stared at harry.
'No but I had a thought about this last night. The diary, it was given to Lucius Malfoy. It could mean he gave some to the other death eaters. Now Ron and I found out that Lucius Malfoy had a hidden room under the drawing room. For all we know, many of the death eaters had hidden rooms,' Harry said.
'There's also the possibility that they do what a lot of other people do when they want to protect something, Gringotts,' Ron said.
'If there is one at Gringotts, we will never be able to get it,' Molly said, 'I see why you believe this is hopeless Harry, because I'm beginning to believe it is.'
'Yeah, I'm not sure what we can do, if anything. I mean it could mean staying in hiding then sneaking around to get food. With no one being able to work, it would mean stealing from the muggles since there is no money coming in for people like Mr Weasley and Bill.'
'Yes, money will be tight. Eventually it will run out,' Molly said sounding worried.
'I know we can expand things like the vegetable patch and maybe add some other fruit trees. It's getting things like meat and milk that could be impossible,' Ron said.
'Yes, but if we do expand our fruit and vegetables, at least we can eat. Also, we will have eggs from the chickens.'
'I'm not sure if you can buy this in the wizarding world but you can get powdered milk or even canned milk. From what I know, it's not as nice as real milk but it would be better than not having milk in a cup of tea,' Harry said.
'We do not have that here. It might be sold in the shops not far from here but I have not taken much notice of other products. I mainly buy things like meat, spreads, sugar and bread,' Molly said.
'Harry and I could get some of that from one of those supermarkets that Harry mentioned,' Ron said. 'we could use his cloak so no one see's us, then take it off not far from the shop.'
'Yes, alright, but it might be a good idea to have others there as well, to keep a look out while you are inside this shop. We'll talk it over with your father when he returns. I thought he would be back by now,' Molly said again sounding worried.
'I'm sure they just got talking Mrs Weasley. They are probably talking over plans as well. You know what Mad-eye's like.'
'Yes, you are probably right but I believe all of us worry when one of us is out of sight.'
Ron and Harry nodded. They did worry, about everyone and hoped nothing had happened.
It was almost another hour before Arthur walked into the house with Mad-eye, Kingsley, Remus, Tonks, Bill, Fleur and Charlie.
'Snape took a group of death eaters to Grimmauld place. The muggles found the bodies blocking the open door,' Kingsley said, 'My contact in the muggle police told me. Bellatrix along with her husband and brother were with Snape. The Carrow twins along with Lucius and Narcissa were with them as well as Greyback. All dead.'
Ron instantly turned to Harry, 'Did you feel his anger?'
'No, so it must have happened after or he didn't know.'
'We'll get back to what that meant in a minute, but there is more news,' Mad-eye said, 'My spy, the one who pretends to be a death eater, he said about ten minutes after Snape and the group left, you-know-who, screamed out in pain before he collapsed. He said that you-know-who seemed to look like something was pulling him, like a portkey yet he didn't move. He was still unconscious when my spy left.'
'I worked it out Harry, that happened right when we were doing that,' Bill said. 'You probably didn't feel his anger as he would not have known they died and it was right about the time we began.'
'So it hurt him. The one I did was before he got a body. The one Dumbledore did was after he was back but as far as I know, nothing happened to him then, so why now?'
'It could be because the first one that you did was one of the largest yet he did not have a body to feel anything. Then this last bit was too much for his body. They are still connected to him, so when he lost the first two, it probably weakened him and why he hasn't really done a lot since it was known he was back. For all we know, Snape never told Albus that he felt anything. But this last piece was just too much for him. It might not mean he died, but it could mean he's to weak to do anything. Add to that, he lost a dozen of his most deadly death eaters.' Bill explained.
'Is there anyway we can find out exactly how he is?' Ron asked.
'My spy is going to keep an eye on him to find out exactly what happened to him. We just might have to wait. First though, what are you lot talking about?' Mad-eye asked.
'We have some information that is under the fidelius charm so it's up to the secret keeper if you get told,' Arthur said but he stared at Harry, 'While I was talking to Alastor and Kingsley, they agreed that all of us should be questioned using veritaserum. We did and all are trustworthy, but it's up to you.'
'Harry's the secret keeper of this information?' Tonks asked.
'Yes, I am,' Harry said then turned to Ron who shrugged.
'It's up to you mate, but you're safe now, that was the main thing.'
Everyone watched as Harry looked down at the table and they could tell he was thinking.
'Before I decide if everyone knows or only some of you know, I would like to ask everyone a question, using veritaserum. But depending on the answer, some might need to be obliviated, of just the question.'
'We get why you would like that questioned answered Harry. It took a lot for you to trust me and Bill with this,' Arthur said, 'I agree with Harry, if you lot want to know what is going on, then you'll have to agree with this.'
'So you'll only ask one question yet because we've used the truth potion to find out if we're all against you-know-who, you still need to know something,' Kingsley said.
'It's not really important now, but i have to know and it's basically two questions, about the same thing, sort of,' Harry said.
'Once you get the answer and depending on the answer, you could tell us what this is about?' Mad-eye asked.
'Yes, but again, it will depend on the answer, which is a simple yes or no.'
'I don't have a problem with that,' Kingsley said.
'Neither do I,' Mad-eye said.
'I'll do it,' Remus said.
'Me too,' Tonks said.
'Okay, but I would also like everyone in the order, along with Hermione and the twins to do this as well. I just need to know,' Harry said, 'We can do all of you now, the others later.'
'Then let's do it. How about you and I do it Harry, in the living room? We can seal the door,' Bill said.
'Okay. We might as well start with Mad-eye because if there's anyone that might know about this, it could be him. I also believe I know what his answer will be.'
'Then lets do this,' Mad-eye said then stomped off towards the living room with Bill and Harry following.
'Is this question really important?' Remus asked.
'It's important to Harry,' Molly said. 'I happen to agree with him. He needs to know.'
Mad-eye, Kingsley, Remus and Tonks answered the two questions and their answers meant they would not be obliviated. They would be able to be told what is going on.
'So we'll do the rest of the order, along with the twins and Hermione. Once we do that, then Harry can give permission to fill you in,' Arthur said.
'I'll go contact everyone,' Mad-eye said. But he already knew what was going on, Harry Potter was a horcrux.
It didn't take long for the entire order to arrive at the Burrow along with Hermione. One by one everyone was taken into the living room where they were given veritaserum. Hermione and doge were the only two who tried to argue about taking the truth potion. They were told that they either take it or they would not be allowed in the order or at the Burrow, that also included places like Grimmauld place.
It took a couple of hours but everyone was questioned using veritaserum.
They were all asked the same question, by Harry.
"If Dumbledore told you I had to die or Voldemort could not die, would you kill me, whether you knew the reason or not" only three had to be obliviated. They also lost the memory of being at the Burrow that night. Arthur, Bill and Mad-eye took them home before obliviating them.
'Where you surprised with Hermione?' Ron asked as Harry stood staring out the window.
'No, her, Doge, Diggle were three I figured would kill me if Dumbledore told them to. I wasn't sure about the others mainly because I didn't know them. At least I know the truth.'
'Yeah but I also know it means you won't have anything to do with Hermione ever again.'
'No, I won't. Apart from her answer, it's also how she acted at Hogwarts but how she always agreed with Dumbledore. She showed she supported him over her friend. She always refused to listen to me if Dumbledore told her the opposite to what I said. To me, that is not a friend, it's not one I want.'
'I don't blame you. Also, after hearing her answer, I can't be with her. She always said she cared about you, yet she said she would kill you if Dumbledore told her to. She could turn on anyone if someone like Dumbledore told her to. It means I can't trust her either.'
'No, I also think your parents will not want her here anymore. What if she turns up like she said she would?'
'Its too late to stop her obliviating her parents, she was going to do that straight away. Once that was done, she was going to sort out to keep some of the money from the sale of the house. I'm not sure how she planned to do it. If she has got some money, then she can stay somewhere else. I'm sure dad will talk to her.'
'Yeah, but see how much influence that man had on people without bothering to look at his decisions or actions. Even your dad said some of the things he did or said weren't right. But he also didn't speak with people who might have been able to help. About this though, it's like with me, making me stay with the Dursley's even though Voldemort wasn't back until I was nearly fifteen. I could have stayed anywhere and could afford to pay whoever to care for me when I was young. But Snape, the danger at Hogwarts, I just don't get why people trusted him with all that.'
'Unless we can question them with the truth potion, I doubt we will ever know.'
'Harry, the others are gone,' Bill said.
'Okay, we'll come down now so we can explain.'
Harry and Ron walked down the stairs until they came to the very crowded expanded kitchen table.
'I've charmed the room so no sound can be heard outside the room nor will things like the twins ears work from outside the room,' Bill said.
'At least it's safe from others hearing this,' Ron said.
'It's up to you now Harry,' Arthur said.
Harry nodded and took the seat beside Ron, 'It's about how Voldy was able to survive that night in Godric's Hollow. First, there is a prophecy about him and me. I told Mr and Mrs Weasley along with Bill and Charlie, Ron naturally knew straight away. They all agreed that the prophecy was fulfilled that night but because he used dark magic to cheat death, he lived but it doesn't change anything to do with the prophecy. I won't be telling you what it says mainly because it would put all of you in danger. He is determined to hear the whole thing. He only heard the first part, from Snape, which was when he went after me as a baby.'
'Snape did this,' Remus growled.
'Yeah, he did, only a couple of months before my parents were killed.'
'Did Dumbledore know it was Snape?' Mad-eye asked.
'Yes, he knew the moment Voldemort decided the prophecy meant me.'
'Do you know why Dumbledore kept saying Snape was trustworthy when he knew this?' Kingsley asked.
'No, I have no idea. But what I am about to tell you is more dangerous than knowing the prophecy. It's about the dark magic he used so he wouldn't die.'
By the time harry finished explaining about the horcruxes, most of them were in shock, some were scared. Harry couldn't blame them.
'That's what the question was about, you are one,' Mad-eye said.
'Harry was one, I was able to destroy it without killing Harry,' Bill said.
'Harry was bitten by a basilisk when he was twelve, then healed with phoenix tears right after. Harry is immune to all types of snake venom. We got some of the venom that was still in the dead basilisk at Hogwarts and Bill used it on Harry's scar, which is where the horcrux was,' Charlie said.
'So right at the time he screamed and collapsed was when you were destroying that one?' Mad-eye asked.
'Yes, Harry was in pain for about a minute then he got a surge of energy. Apart from that, he was just a little tired. His scar did bleed but that's all,' Bill said.
'So out of the seven, three are gone. Yes, I could see that having an affect on him. You said earlier that the first one would have been bigger. Can you explain?' Kingsley asked.
'It was his diary that was slipped to Ginny to open the chamber of secrets. I saw a young Voldemort or tom as he was still known back then. He had a prefect badge on his robes. I think he looked like he was sixteen or seventeen. He was head boy but it wasn't the head boy badge. Dumbledore worked out that he made that while still a student,' Harry said.
'It would have been his first or at least, his second, which means, it was one of the largest. If that was destroyed now, it might have killed him outright. It might be the reason he has not done a lot, that one and the one Dumbledore did weakened him, a lot. Now the one in Harry is gone, it's weakened him more,' Bill said.
'Maybe you could tell us what the other items are, in case we come across one or hear about one?' Tonks asked.
'Hufflepuff's cup, no idea where that is. Maybe Ravenclaw's diadem, again, we're not sure if it's one or where it is if it is one. Slytherin's locket, Dumbledore and I went to get that the night he died, but it turned out to be a fake. Someone took the real one with the plans to destroy it, yet we have no idea if that happened. The last is the snake, Nagini.'
'I can get my spy to deal with the snake. But the locket, how did you know the person who took it plans to destroy it?' Mad-eye asked.
Harry dug the locket out of his moke-skin pouch, then opened it.
'I saw that at headquarters,' Molly shrieked.
'That's right, it was there. We all tried to open it but it wouldn't open,' Ron said.
'How did it end up there?' Tonks asked.
'Harry, how did you know the person planned to destroy it?' Remus asked.
Harry took the note out of the locket and handed it to Remus.
'Now it makes sense,' Remus said, 'Regulus Arcturus Black, Sirius' younger brother. He became a death eater but Sirius said he wanted out. He died only a couple of months after telling Sirius he made a mistake. Sirius said he heard that Voldemort killed Regulus himself.'
'So he found out Regulus took the locket. It would be at house. All of it was thrown out but it was still in those bins in the basement,' Ron said.
'Unless Mundungus stole it. He did steal a lot from the house after Sirius died,' Harry said.
'Harry, I think a few of us should go to the house. We can look but you can also order Kreacher to tell you anything he knows about it. He might know more about Regulus as well,' Remus said.
'If Regulus got this, it meant drinking a potion that would cause a lot of pain and weakness. It also makes you thirsty. You can't conjure water so you would drink from the lake, which was filled with inferi. So, how did it end up back at the house if he drank the potion or got caught by the inferi?' Harry asked.
'Kreacher was very loyal to Regulus, maybe he had Kreacher take the locket or the elf was able to get Regulus out of that place,' Kingsley said.
'Will the muggle police still be there?' Ron asked.
'Probably, we can apparate into the sealed library,' Mad-eye said, 'But I think we should just obliviate all the muggles and get them away from the house.'
Bill, Mad-eye, Tonks and Kingsley took care of the muggles while Arthur, Ron, Charlie, Harry and Remus began looking for the locket. When Harry called Kreacher then ordered the elf to tell them what he knew of the locket and Regulus Black.
They were shocked when Kreacher pulled the locket from under his tea towel. Even though Harry still hated the elf for setting Sirius up, he took the real locket before handing Kreacher the fake one.
Charlie had brought one of the fangs so they decided to use the basement to destroy the locket.
'Give me twenty minutes. My spy can be there to see if anything happens to him when you destroy that thing.'
'We'll wait until you return,' Arthur said.
When Mad-eye left, Ron turned to his friend, 'You said diadem harry. What is a diadem?'
'It's a crown or tiara,' Tonks said.
Everyone noticed that harry sat up straighter, 'What is it Harry?' Arthur asked.
'Um, when I almost killed Malfoy, Hermione said I should get rid of the book. I didn't want to but I was shocked at what I had done. I hid it in the room of requirement but the room where it turned into something like a storage room. It was huge and filled with so much stuff. I put the book in a wardrobe but I used a tiara to mark the spot. It had a big blue stone on the front.'
'Ravenclaw's diadem had a big blue stone. Inside was her inscription. Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure,' Kingsley said.
'We need to get to Hogwarts. We could destroy both at the same time. It could mean this is just too much for his body to handle,' Bill said.
'I'll go with Harry, Ron and Remus. You lot remain here to wait for Mad-eye,' Arthur said.
Not long after they left, Mad-eye arrived back. Tonks explained where the others had gone and why.
'My friend is going to take care of the snake the moment he gets a chance. He is going to try to do it at the same time you destroy that locket.'
'If we do the two at once, then he does the snake, it might be too much for his body,' Bill said.
'Let's hope,' Charlie said.
It only took another twenty minutes before the others arrived back. Harry was holding a bag.
'It's her diadem, it has her inscription,' Arthur said.
'Let's destroy those things,' Kingsley said.
Just before Bill and Harry was about to stab the two items, Ron reminded Harry how no one could open the locket and maybe it has to be open for it to be destroyed.
'If that's true, I would say it will need parseltongue,' Bill said.
'Then if Harry opens it, I'll destroy it,' Remus said.
'Sometimes they can fight. You have to make sure you don't hesitate,' Bill said.
'I'll be fine,' Remus said.
Bill and Remus both held a basilisk fang while Mad-eye was ready to do a shield, if it was needed. Kingsley and Tonks were ready in case anything happened. Charlie had another basilisk fang in case his brother or Remus hesitated.
When they were ready and Mad-eye knew it was time for his friend to kill the snake, he nodded to Harry who nodded. Within seconds, the locket sprung open and Voldemort's smokey image came out. Remus brought the fang down just as bill did the same. Like before with the diary, there was an almighty scream from the souls before they vanished.
'I'll go wait for my friend.'
'Meet us at the Burrow,' Arthur said looking at Mad-eye who nodded.
'Let's get out of here,' Bill said as he picked up the two items.
Ron spoke with his father before they left, about Hermione and her parents. Arthur, Remus and Tonks decided they would go speak with the girl. If she had already obliviated her parents, Tonks will be able to restore their memories, mainly because Hermione wasn't a trained obliviator nor was she overly powerful.
Bill explained to their mother what happened and about the other items that Harry remembered seeing.
'So there was one of those things at Hogwarts. Wouldn't the wards alert the headmaster about a item so dark?' Molly asked.
'He didn't know about the diary,' Ron said gesturing towards his sister who was eating lunch.
'I would say some of the wards are either not working or they have been removed,' Bill said.
'Think about it. Dumbledore had Snape as a teacher and his dark mark is classed as a dark item,' Charlie said.
'Which means he must have removed that ward to allow Snape into Hogwarts,' Harry said.
'Makes sense but that was putting everyone inside that castle at risk just to allow Snape to teach,' Bill said.
'Malfoy also had a dark item called the hand of glory. He brought that to Hogwarts,' Ron said.
'We should let Minerva know, if he doesn't end up taking the school,' Bill said, 'I'll go see her after dad returns.'
'Where did Kingsley go?' Molly asked.
'He's gone to check in with a few of his contacts. Some of the aurors he worked with that he knew did not support him,' Bill said.
They decided to have some lunch while they waited for Arthur, Remus, Tonks and Mad-eye. Molly even suggested to Ron and Harry to have a fly instead of waiting around. Neither boy felt like doing anything, not until they heard what was going on.
'We got to her before she obliviated them,' Arthur said as he stepped into the house with Remus and Tonks.
'We explained that there wasn't as much danger but until we hear from Mad-eye, we weren't sure how much danger there was. It would be best if she just confunded them if he began making trouble. Also, we told her that all her parents would need to do is go somewhere else, to another house, which wouldn't be known to anyone in the wizarding world,' Remus said.
'I spoke with the Grangers to explain more about the danger but also how it was best to be cautious. We figured they wouldn't like to hear that their daughter was going to obliviate them so they would believe they were other people,' Tonks said.
'Since we're just staying here, at least for now, Hermione knows it would be best to remain with her parents, until they found somewhere else to live or we hear that the danger has passed. She can do more there in case anything did happen. I also made it seem like the family wanted to be together, without anyone else here. She asked about Harry, I said he was staying somewhere else but I refuse to say where that was,' Arthur said.
'After she answered that question Harry asked her, we all felt she should not be around us, especially Harry,' Remus said.
'Good, now sit and have lunch. This lot has just finished,' Molly said then began to put more plates on the table. 'You know you can go fly. We might have a wait until Alastor arrives back.'
'We might go outside, but stick close to the house, until he does turn up,' Ron said looking at Harry who nodded.
Arthur waited until the two boys left the house before he spoke.
'I know Ron fancied Hermione but I could see that he and Harry seemed to relax when they knew she would not be turning up. She still might turn up even after what I said. But if she does, it won't be soon.'
'I sometimes wish she did not want to spend so much time with Ron and Harry. Boys like to spend time together without a girl hanging around all the time. But especially now after she answered yes to that question. The girl could sometimes get very bossy, like it was her right to continuously tell them what to do and how to act. I know she has always helped them with their school work but I feel they could do better without her always harassing them like she does. But knowing she would kill Harry if she was told to, I really don't want her here,' Molly said.
'She sometimes says things that make it seem like they are stupid, when they aren't. Ron and Harry both study, they just like to do other things than read all the time,' Ginny said.
'With everything we heard about whats been going on at Hogwarts, I think that's why they like to do other stuff instead of studying. All of you have been in so much danger, Harry more than most, then Ron because he was always with Harry during these things that kept happening,' Arthur said.
'Well, they can talk about girls or farting, like most boys do without having a girl to tell them off,' Charlie said with a grin making Bill, Tonks and Ginny laugh, the others smiled, even Molly. She raised six boys so she did know what they were like.
It was nearly two hours later when Mad-eye arrived back. He saw Ron and Harry so he waved them towards the house.
'Did your friend get the snake?' Harry asked anxiously as he hurried inside.
'Yes, right when you must have destroyed the other two. His body jerked a lot before it literally exploded.'
'He's dead?' Tonks asked.
'Yes and no. His body died or was destroyed, like what happened before. A wraith escaped, but nothing my friend did was able to destroy it. He did hear some of the others talking about the ritual again. They said that the moment they saw his body explode.'
'After Ron suggested removing the bones, that won't work anymore,' Arthur said.
'What if he used another family member instead of his father?' Molly asked.
'Ron thought of that as well,' Arthur said giving his son a smile, 'We removed the bones of everyone in that graveyard. We hid them under the fidelius charm inside one of the old crypts from a couple of hundred years ago. Ron is the secret keeper.'
'That means he really can't come back,' Tonks said.
'I searched through the Black library after he returned. Sirius thought we should check for any other type of ritual that can give someone a body. We did not know of the horcruxes at the time but we did find a few books that mentioned them. All of them needed bone of the nearest family, like parents or siblings. Grandparents wouldn't work, neither will uncles, aunts or cousins,' Remus said.
'So the only way for him to return would be if they found out where the mother is buried,' Bill said.
'That won't work,' Harry said, 'He was born in an orphanage, the mother died right after he was born. Those places either cremate the poor or unknown people or bury them in unmarked graves. I did check after Dumbledore explained. She never gave her name and died quickly. The only file that could have been hers was marked as cremated.'
'So, that's it, it really is over,' Molly said.
'Yes, especially now we know he can't use any relative and that is the only way he could return using the ritual for someone that makes horcruxes,' Remus said.
'We'll work with the ministry to get the death eaters,' Arthur said.
'No need. It was twenty minutes later that everyone at the house that had the dark mark collapsed. My friend checked, they died. We believe he was trying to stop himself dying by using the dark mark. We're not sure how but the only person who did not die that was at Malfoy manor was three teenagers, around thirteen or fourteen years old. I contacted Tim and Gawain, it's so he could get anyone that supported him but wasn't marked. Gawain is going to send someone to the house to get the children,' Mad-eye said.
'If Harry didn't decide to trust a few of us, none of this would have been possible. We all joined the order to work against him yet Albus kept this a secret, then he only told Harry who he should known had trust issues,' Bill said giving the young man a smile.
'I almost didn't. After I left that house, I kept thinking there was no one I could trust and I never figured I could do it alone, so I did seriously consider leaving the country. I'm glad I decided to talk to Ron, who suggested talking to his dad and Bill.'
'We better go speak with the rest of the order so they know what is going on,' Remus said.
'It also means we can still have our wedding here,' Fleur said giving Bill a smile.
'Then we'll get back into your plans,' Molly said happily making everyone smile because they all knew that this wouldn't just be a wedding, this would be a celebration that their world was safe once again.
The end:
