Hello everyone; I'm back once again to bring you a brand new story. I decided I did enough Naruto fics for right now and I'll be doing one of my favorite video games; Telltales The Walking dead. This is a AU fic and just to give you some reference on what led up to this scenario here are the choices Lee (You) made. You saved Duck at Hershel's farm, you defended Kenny at the Drug Store, you saved Doug at the drug store, you tried to save Larry in the freezer, you killed all of the St.Johns , you didn't take the supplies from the car, you did not kill the woman in Macon, you sided with Lilly at the motor inn and you brought Lilly along after she shot Doug. This is my first TWD fic so I hope you like it; with nothing left to say, lets begin.
The Walking Dead: What Now?
Chapter 1:
In the RV by the Train Tracks: With Lee and Lilly
Lee was looking at Lilly wide eyed at what she just said; he came in here to find a pencil so he could use a tracing method to find out the instructions on how to start the train that was blocking the path of the RV.
Upon entering the RV, Lilly sat there quietly with Lee still thinking she was a prisoner; after finding the pencil Lily got up and snuck up behind Lee. Lilly had told Lee she wants to leave and take the RV which Lee agreed too; but what came next shocked him.
Lilly wanted Lee and Clementine to join her and abandon what remained of the group; Lee looked at her with a blank expression before saying a single word "Ok" Lee said and Lily went wide eyed.
"Ok? Really?" Lilly said and Lee nodded.
"Yeah, sure" Lee said not believing what just came out of his mouth.
Lilly with a firm nod looked at Lee and spoke "go get Clementine". Lee nodded and walked past her and out the RV; Lee didn't know what he just agreed to as he walked towards the group.
In a semi-circle sat most of what remained of the group; Clementine, Katjaa, Duck, Ben and the newest member Chuck. Kenny was in the train trying to find out how to start it and Lee saw this was a perfect chance; Lee walked up to the group and looked directly at Clementine.
"Hey Clem" Lee said nonchalantly; the young girl looked up at him with innocent eyes and smiled.
"Hey Lee" Clementine said and Lee felt a knot in his stomach as he spoke.
"Clem, can you help me find something in the RV?" Lee said calmly "I need one of the pencils you use so I can figure out something for the train". Clementine smiled as she got up and spoke.
"Sure, I think I know where one is" Clementine said as she began to walk towards the RV.
"Hey Lee" Katjaa said and Lee looked at her "can you get Ducky a bottle of water; he's a little thirsty?"; Lee paused for a moment and he looked at Katjaa and Duck. Duck was bit during their escape from the motor inn and from the looks of it the infection was spreading; the poor boy was pale and sweating profusely.
Lee felt a pang of guilt and nodded "sure Katjaa" Lee said as he turned around and began to walk away; his look of guilt making it look like he was sad for the little boy. Lee walked with Clementine back to the RV and upon reaching it both entered and Lee closed the door.
"There should be one in the cup holder" Clementine said as she began to walk over only to pause at who she say; Lily was in the drivers seat looking back at Lee and Clementine and Clementine got a confused look "Lilly?"
Lilly looking back at Lee and Clementine had a frown on her face as she started the RV; without warning Lilly reversed the RV almost making Lee and Clementine lose their balance as she was now parallel with the train.
Kenny rushed out of the train and hopped down "She's taking the RV" Kenny shouted as he ran over; for a fraction of a second he saw a guilt stricken Lee and a scared Clementine. Lilly didn't say anything as she turned the wheel and began to drive off "COME BACK HERE YOU CRAZY BITCH!" Kenny shouted as Lily turned around and went back up the road they came.
"What's going on?" Clementine said as she looked at Lee confused and scared; Lee was trying to find the words to say and before he could Lily spoke up.
"We're ditching Kenny" Lily said bluntly and Clementine looked at her "he's going to get us all killed".
"B-but what about Duck and Kenny and Ben and Katjaa and-" Clementine asked and Lily cut her off.
"Duck's going to die, and Kenny has his head so far up his ass he doesn't see it" Lilly said as she focused on the road "he doesn't care about anyone else, other than his family". Lilly looked over her shoulder at Lee and Clementine "I'm doing what's best for you two; my family" Lilly said as she turned back around and continued driving.
Clementine looked at Lee scared and about to cry "Lee?" Clementine said on the verge of tears and Lee let out a sigh.
"Clem listen to me" Lee said as he kneeled down in front of her and grabbed her shoulder softly "Kenny's been… not good to me or anyone else". Lee took in a deep breath "he almost let a walker get me the last time we went on a supply run and wanted me to let a girl get eaten so we would have more time to scavenge" Lee said. "Kenny's… it's best if we leave now; before it gets worse" Lee said and Clementine looked him in the eyes "do you understand?"
Clementine looked around trying to gather her thoughts before she looked back at Lee "yes" she said in a unsure tone.
"Don't worry Clementine" Lilly said not taking her eyes off the road "you got me and Lee here; we won't let anything happen to you". "I promise" Lilly said sternly as she remembered her father Larry in his final moments 'I won't let anyone else die'.
Clementine nodded and Lee led her to the couch "take a seat sweet pea" Lee said as he sat her down "I just got to talk to Lilly real quick".
"Ok" Clementine said in a soft tone; Lee gave her a quick hug before walking up to the passenger seat and sitting down next to Lilly. "Where are we going? Lee asked and Lilly gave him a quick Look before looking back at the road.
"North I guess" Lilly said with a hint of uncertainty "the direction we were heading would've led us south; closer to the cities, which means more walkers". "I think our best bet is to head North" Lilly said "but other than that… I don't know"; Lilly looked over to Lee and spoke. "What weapons do we have?" Lilly asked and Lee took out his Glock 17.
"I got my pistol with two full mags" Lee said before looking back into the RV; up against the wall was the scoped 30-06 rifle Lilly used during the attack at the motor in "and we got your rifle; I think we only have three rounds left".
"Which means we'll need to scavenge some more weapons and ammo" Lilly said "along with food, water, fuel and anything else we can find". Lee nodded and looked back at Clementine; Clementine had a look of confusion and sorrow on her face and he hoped he made the right choice.
2 hours later
Lilly was still driving the RV when she spotted a building up ahead, it looked like a gas station which was no surprise to her; there were abandoned cars all along the road, most likely ran out of gas.
She drove around the cars and got closer to the gas station "Hey Lee, gas station up ahead" Lilly said; Lee was in the back with Clementine when he began to walk up and stood next to Lily.
"Hmm, probably not a bad idea to check it out" Lee said and Lilly nodded.
"Might have some gas; we're only at a quarter of a tank" Lilly said and Lee nodded; Lilly drove into the parking lot and stopped the vehicle "alright then; how you want to do this?"
Lee looked around the parking lot through the windows; he saw no walkers around but he wanted to be careful.
"I'll check out the station; you stay here with the rifle and cover me" Lee said and Lily nodded "and watch over Clem for me".
"Sure thing" Lilly said as she turned off the engine and began to walk to the back; Lilly grabbed the rifle and opened the roof hatch before pulling down the ladder. Lilly climbed up and Lee walked over to Clementine.
"Stay here Clem, I need to check the area" Lee said and Clementine nodded.
"Ok, be safe" Clementine said before giving Lee a hug; Lee returned the hug before walking out the RV and drawing his pistol. Lee looked around and saw a dozen abandoned cars and several skeletons lying around.
"Never get easier" Lee said as he turned and began to walk towards the gas station; Lilly was already on top of the RV pointing her rifle at the front, just in case walkers or bandits come out.
Lee slowly approached the front of the store and saw that every window to the building was smashed 'best not get my hopes up' Lee thought before walking in through the front door. Lee saw rows upon rows of empty shelves; what would've been there was now picked clean "of course" Lee said.
Upon walking into the store the first thing he did was check behind the counter for anyone or anything; behind the counter was another skeleton, this one wearing a gas station uniform. Lee walked past the counter and around the store checking every isle; other than the skeleton there was nothing left inside the building. Lee found the restroom and tried to open the door but it was locked; Lee walked past it and towards the front of the store.
"All clear" Lee said in a tone loud enough for Lilly to hear, but not too loud to attract anything else".
Lilly nodded and went back into the RV; a few seconds later Lilly and Clementine walked out and towards Lee. Clementine winced and recoiled at the skeletons and neither Lilly or Lee could blame her; upon reaching the store Lilly spoke.
"What'd you find?" Lilly asked and Lee sighed.
"A skeleton and a locked bathroom" Lee said "we should try and get it open and check inside".
"What if there's a walker in there; like back at the store?" Clementine said and both Lee and Lilly looked at her; both of them remembered the incident when Clementine opened the bathroom door and a walker nearly got her.
"Damn, she's right" Lilly said not thinking of it earlier "ok, we open the door very carefully".
"Ok sounds good" Lee said.
"I'll get the key from behind the counter" Clementine said before Lee stopped her.
"Umm… there's another skeleton back there" Lee said and Clementine backed away "I should to it"; Lee, Lilly and Clementine all walked in and Lee hopped over the counter and took a look behind it. "Huh?" Lee said and Lilly looked at him.
"What is it?" Lilly asked as Lee put away his gun and bent down; when he came back up Lee had two objects in his hand. One was the bathroom key attached to a piece of wood while in the other was a wooden baseball bat.
"Looks like the owner of this joint was prepared for robbers" Lee said with a smile before hopping back over the counter "here, take the key and open it; I'll handle the bat".
"Sounds good" Lilly said as she shouldered her rifle and took the key; all four of them walked to the back of the store towards the bathroom. Upon reaching it Lee stood to the side of the door with the bat raised, Clementine stood a few paces behind Lee and Lilly slipped the key into the lock.
"On three" Lilly said and Lee nodded "one…two…three"; Lilly unlocked and opened the door before jumping back. Lee looked into the bathroom ready to swing but no one in there; but to their surprise there was something inside the bathroom.
Sitting on the sink was a black backpack which looked like it could've been used for school; Lee walked in and grabbed the back pack and opened it. Inside there was chips, beef jerky, water, soda and candy.
"This bag has some food inside" Lee said as he looked over to Lilly and Clementine "I guess the guy at the register packed up some stuff before dying".
"Probably put it in here for safe keeping" Lilly said "alright, we got some food; lets see what else we can find"; Lilly looked at Clementine and smiled. "How about you look around too Clementine?" Lilly said and Clementine nodded "we can go and check the cars for stuff".
"Ok, but stay close to me ok?" Clementine said and Lilly nodded.
"Sure thing" Lilly said before looking at Lee "see if you can find out if we can get any gas from the pumps; or if not we can siphon from the cars".
"Alright" Lee said as he shouldered the back pack "just try not to make too much noise"; both Lilly and Clementine nodded before walking out the store.
With Clementine and Lilly
Lilly un-shouldered her rifle as she and Clementine walked out of the gas station and into the parking lot "alright Clementine; where do you want to start?" Lilly asked and Clementine looked around.
Clementine had no idea what she was supposed to look out for but went on instinct; Clementine looked to an old, rusty, single cab Chevy pickup truck and pointed.
"How about that one?" Clementine said and Lilly looked over.
'Wow, a hillbilly deluxe' Lilly thought as she looked at the rusty truck "alright, lets begin real careful"; Lilly began to lead Clementine towards the truck, staying ready for anything that might pop out. As they got to the truck Lily looked inside and saw no bodies inside the cab; Lilly reached down and opened the driver side door which was unlocked "Hey Clem, go check the other side" she said.
"Ok" Clementine said as she ran to the other side and opened the door to the passenger side and began to look around.
Lilly began to look around the cab for anything useful while looking up every few seconds to make sure the coast was clear; on her side she found nothing of note. A single band-aid, a lone cigarette, a lighter and a can of dip.
"Uggh, nasty" Lilly said as she tossed the dip and cigarette over her shoulder "you find anything Clem?".
Clementine was looking behind the seat and reaching for something "I think I found a sock" Clementine said and Lilly frowned; Clementine then pulled out a sock from behind the seat "hey, something's inside it". Upon hearing this Lilly looked at Clementine and saw that there was something inside it.
Clementine opened the sock and looked inside it "what is it?" Lilly asked and Clementine handed it over; when Lily felt the weight she went wide eyed "No. Fucking. Way".
"Swear" Clementine said and Lily looked at her.
"Sorry" Lilly said as she opened the sock and pulled out the object; it was a old .22 snub nose revolver in a small leather holster, Lilly took it out of the holster and examined it. It was clean, and looked to be in great shape despite it being possible fifty years old "you found a gun?" Lilly said not believing the luck "check the glove compartment for ammo".
Clementine opened the glove compartment and saw there was a bunch of papers inside it; she too out everything until she spoke up "hey I found some" Clementine said as she pulled out a small box and read it. "Remington, Twenty-two L-R" Clementine said "five hundred and twenty five count".
Lilly's jaw almost dropped "hand it over" she said excited; Clementine handed over the box and Lilly examined it. The box was still sealed and she opened it; inside she saw hundreds of rounds of Twenty-two bullets. "Clementine, I have ever said this before to you" Lily said astonished "but I love you so much right now". Clementine smiled with pride as Lilly put the revolver in the back of her pants and the box of ammo in her pocket "come on; let's check some more cars" Lilly said as the girls began to move to another vehicle.
With Lee
Lee was gripping the baseball bat while he went behind the gas station looking for a way to get the pumps working again; as he approached the corner he heard a noise. Raising the bat he slowly turned the corner to see a walker on the ground behind a chain link fence that surrounded the back of the gas station. This walker, was wearing a gas station uniform much like the skeleton inside.
The decaying undead corpse with half it's body removed was crawling on the ground until it saw Lee; the walker let out a snarl before it began to crawl towards him once more. Lee approached the gate and unlatched it before walking in until he was within striking range and swung the bat downwards.
With a loud 'thwack' Lee split the walkers head open, killing it with a single blow; Lee looked around to see anymore but didn't see anything else. He bent down to check the walker for any thing useful; Lee found a set of keys on the body and looked behind the walker.
There was a door which might've been a utility room of some kind; Lee walked over to the door and put the a key in and unlocked the door. Lee opened the door and stepped back just in case there was a walker inside; the room was empty, except for what looked like four five-gallon gas cans.
Lee could hardly believe his eyes as he walked up and felt the weight of the cans "all are full" Lee said surprised before looking back at the turned gas station attendant "guess you and your buddy decided to take gas and food before ditching?"
Lee put his bat under his armpit and lifted up two of the five-gallon cans and began to walk back to the RV "sorry this happened to you" Lee said as he walked past the walker he just killed.
……
Lee walked back around the corner of the building when he saw both Clementine and Lilly looking over their haul of goods 'seems like the girls had some luck' Lee thought. Lee approached them and Lilly looked at Lee with a smile.
"You found some gas?" Lilly asked and Lee nodded.
"Yeah, four full cans" Lee said with a smile "what you two find?"
"Clementine found this" Lilly said as she produced a small revolver "who would've thought a rusty piece of crap truck would have this".
"We also found some other stuff too" Clementine said pointing at their haul "I found a hoodie for me, some aspirin, flashlight and batteries". Clementine held up the hoodie she found "look, the hoodie has a picture of a super hero" she said.
Lee looked at the hoodie and studied it; it was a grey hoodie with a yellow and blue superhero on it with the words 'Invincible' in big bold letters.
"That seems like a cool jacket" Lee said with a smile which Clementine returned before putting on the hoodie; the hoodie was a little to big for her but Clementine rolled up the sleeves so they don't get in the way.
Lee looked at Lilly who walked over and took the gas cans from him "go and get the other cans; we'll leave once we filled up the RV" she said. Lee nodded and went back to get the other cans.
Later that night: On a bridge overlooking a highway
The RV was parked in the middle of a bridge going over a stretch of highway as they decided to make camp for the night; Clementine was inside the RV asleep while both Lee and Lilly were on tope of the RV.
Both Lee and Lilly couldn't sleep as the events of the day were still fresh in their minds; Lee decided enough was enough and spoke.
"Lilly, we need to talk" Lee said and Lilly not looking at him spoke.
"What about?" Lilly said.
"You shot Doug, Lilly" Lee said and just like that Lily's entire demeanor changed.
"I didn't mean to" Lilly said looking down at her hands "I was trying to shoot Ben".
"That's not the point Lilly" Lee said and Lilly looked at him; Lee had a look of anger on his face "you killed one of our group, whether he did it, or Doug did it or anyone else; it doesn't matter, you pulled out a gun and shot someone". "If it was Ben, we should've left him on the side of the road; not kill him" Lee said.
"Lee, please" Lilly said with a hitch in her voice "I know I fucked up".
"I know how you feel Lilly" Lee said and Lily looked at him wide eyed "come on, you knew what I did… crime of passion is still a crime". Lee looked down at the bat in his hands like they still had blood on them "you can never wash it away or block it out; no matter how hard you try" he said before looking at her "all you can do it move past it and focus on what's important".
Lilly began to silently cry as she looked down at the rifle in her hands "All I have left is you and Clementine" Lilly said as she began to wipe her tears "as long as Clementine is safe… that's all that matters". Lilly looked at Lee with a sorrowful expression "I can't do this alone Lee; I promise that I'll-" she began.
"Hey, are you guys alive?" Came a shout from am man at the other side of the bridge; in a flash both Lee and Lilly spun around with Lilly raising her rifle in the direction. There was little moonlight but Lilly could see two figures at the end of the bridge.
"What the hell are you doing?" Said a woman's voice as she and the other figure disappeared behind a car.
"Come out and show yourselves" Lilly shouted while holding her rifle; Clementine moved through the RV until she was looking up through the roof access.
"What's going on?" Clementine asked scared and Lee looked down at her.
"Clem, move out of the way and stay in the RV" Lee said; without saying another word Clementine ran into the RV's bathroom and hid while Lee began to climb down, he looked at Lilly and spoke "cover me".
"I got your back" Lilly said with a nod; Lee climbed down and exited the RV taking out his Glock. With the bat in his left hand and his gun in his right hand Lee began to carefully walk to the other side of the bridge.
As he did so he heard the voices of the two people "come on, they could be nice" "don't be fucking stupid; we don't know these people" the voices said in whispered tones.
Lee stopped at about fifteen yards away from the vehicle and paused; Lee thought about it and put his pistol away and raised the bat above his head.
Lilly saw this through her scope and went wide eyed "Lee, what the fuck are you doing?" Lily said in frustration.
"Hey, I'm holding my weapon above my head; come on out and talk" Lee said in a loud voice "We don't want to hurt you; but if you try anything, my friend will start shooting". After a few seconds of silence the man spoke up.
"You promise?" The man said.
"Yeah, I promise" Lee said with complete honesty; after a few more seconds both figures got up and slowly walked out from behind the car and into view of Lee. Lee took note of them and their appearances.
The man was a shorter than he expected and appeared middle-eastern; he had light brown skin, brown eyes and a face with stubble. What made Lee more comfortable was the fact he had a wide smile that showed no animosity.
The woman meanwhile was taller than the man and was African American; she had dark skin, brown eyes and an athletic build like she was a track runner. Unlike the man she had a look that showed she was not happy about the situation.
"Hey" the man said giving Lee a wave and a smile.
Lee looked at the man, lowered his bat and gave him a smile back "hey" Lee said in return.
"I'm Omid" the man now revealed as Omid said before pointing to the woman beside him "this is Christa"; the woman gave a quick head nod at Lee who nodded back. "Nice to meet you; what's your name?" Omid asked.
Lee relaxed and spoke "I'm Lee" Lee said before looking back over his shoulder at Lilly; Lee gave her a wave and after a few second Lilly lowered her rifle. "You guys hungry?" Lee asked "we got chips and beef jerky".
"Hell yeah man" Omid said with enthusiasm "lead the way".
"Omid" Christa said grabbing his shoulder "we don't know these people; we can't just go over there".
"Come on Christa, have a little faith in humanity would you?" Omid said and Christa rolled her eyes "sorry about that; she's a little uncertain about being around new people, we been on our own for a while".
"That's alright, I understand" Lee said "I promise, we aren't going to hurt you"; Lee turned and began to walk back to the RV. "Come on, I'll introduce you to the others" Lee said as Omid and Christa began to follow Lee back to the RV to meet Clementine and Lilly.
