Hinata gently tied her hair back, her lavender eyes focused as she approached Sasuke. "Let me see your arm," she said softly, kneeling beside him to assess the damage.
Sasuke grunted, lifting his injured arm with visible reluctance. The wind swept through the open window, rustling the hospital curtains and bringing with it the fresh scent of the outdoors—a stark contrast to the sterile smell of antiseptic that filled the room.
The perfect weather outside taunted Sasuke, who would much rather be anywhere else than here, dealing with an injury inflicted by a Hyuga. He cursed under his breath, but the feeling of Hinata's cool fingers gently tracing over his broken arm interrupted his thoughts. The sudden sensation sent a chill through his body, raising goosebumps along his skin.
As Hinata's chakra began to flow into his arm, Sasuke couldn't help but steal a glance at her. She was entirely focused, her brow furrowed in concentration as she worked to mend his bones. Despite himself, Sasuke's thoughts drifted to the idea of Hinata as more than just a comrade. 'Hinata as a wife?' he mused. 'Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all.'
A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, but it quickly vanished when Hinata, without looking up, pinched him sharply. "Stop fidgeting," she scolded in a soft, but firm tone.
Before Sasuke could respond with a retort, his gaze shifted to the doorway. A familiar figure stood at the other end of the room, slightly blurred but unmistakable. Sasuke narrowed his eyes. 'Naruto?' he muttered under his breath, confusion and irritation mingling in his voice. 'What the hell is that idiot doing here?'
Naruto's blue eyes scanned the room as he entered, searching for the familiar sight of a certain violet-haired Hyuga. But his gaze stopped abruptly when it collided with a pair of cold, dark eyes.
'Teme?' He thought, momentarily stunned.
Before Naruto could shout and demand why his rival was there, he noticed Hinata kneeling beside Sasuke, her hands glowing with healing chakra as she worked on his arm. Naruto's curiosity quickly turned into concern, and he began walking toward the pair.
"Hinata-chan?" he called out, his voice softer now, laced with confusion and a hint of worry.
Hinata glanced over her shoulder and froze when she saw Naruto standing there. "N-Naruto?" she stammered, her cheeks flushing slightly. Her grip on Sasuke's arm tightened instinctively.
Sasuke bit back a curse as he felt her hold strengthen. He could feel the tension between them, and it only fueled his irritation. 'What the hell is with these two?' he thought, clenching his jaw. It was infuriating not understanding why they acted so strangely around each other, and it only served to heighten his annoyance.
Naruto, oblivious to Sasuke's growing frustration, chuckled as he took in the sight of his usually untouchable friend getting patched up. "Teme, who beat you up this time?"
Sasuke's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Nobody beats me, Usuratonkachi," he spat out, his pride bristling at the very suggestion.
But Naruto wasn't one to let things go so easily. "Bahaha! Someone really did beat the shit out of you, didn't they? You look like you got your ass handed to you!"
Sasuke's patience snapped. "Before I beat the shit out of you, get out."
Naruto, unfazed by Sasuke's threat, scratched the back of his head and grinned sheepishly. "Actually, I came here to talk to Hinata."
The tension in the room thickened. Sasuke's eyes flicked between Naruto and Hinata, the pieces slowly falling into place. Hinata's earlier shock, her tightened grip, Naruto's sudden appearance—it all made sense now, and Sasuke felt a twinge of something unfamiliar in his chest.
Without waiting for Sasuke's response, Naruto turned his full attention to Hinata, his expression softening. "Hinata-chan, can we talk for a minute?" he asked, his voice gentle but insistent.
Hinata glanced at Sasuke, torn between her duty to finish healing him and the unexpected request from Naruto. Sasuke, sensing her hesitation, released a low, annoyed sigh. "Just go," he muttered, looking away, though his eyes betrayed his annoyance.
Hinata nodded hesitantly, her hand finally releasing Sasuke's arm as she stood up to follow Naruto. Sasuke watched them go, the room suddenly feeling much colder without her presence.
.
.
Naruto scratched the back of his head, a rare moment of uncertainty crossing his face as he struggled to find the right words. "Hinata-chan, I just... I wanted to apologize. I shouldn't have done what I did back then."
Hinata's eyes softened for a moment before hardening again. "Naruto, stop. It's been years. There's no point in digging up the past now."
"But I have to," Naruto insisted, his voice tinged with regret. "I know I messed up, and I shouldn't have..."
Hinata looked into those familiar blue eyes—the same ones she had once adored so deeply. She remembered how those eyes had made her heart flutter, but they had also made her cry more times than she could count. Her old self would never have believed that Naruto, the one she admired so much, could be the source of such pain.
"Why now, Naruto?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why are you coming to say sorry after all these years?"
Naruto hesitated, the weight of her question hanging heavily in the air. "I know it took me time, too much time, but I was hoping... maybe we could go back to what we wanted to become. What you wanted us to become."
Hinata blinked, confusion and disbelief etched across her face. "What?" she asked, her voice sharp, almost incredulous.
Naruto reached out as if to close the distance between them. "Hinata..."
But Hinata stepped back, shaking her head. "No, Naruto. You can't just act like everything's okay now. Do you really think I forgot everything you did? I don't want to blame anyone, but you said you had feelings for me. And then... then you went and told Sakura how you only said yes to me because you pitied me during the war. You made me feel like I was nothing more than a burden, something you had to deal with because you felt sorry for me."
Naruto's face paled as the weight of his past actions crashed down on him. "Hinata-chan, I didn't pity you, I promise. I was just confused. I know what I did was wrong, and I've been ashamed of myself ever since."
Hinata bit her lip, trying to hold back the tears threatening to fall. She remembered the humiliation she felt when she learned that the entire village knew Naruto wasn't truly interested in her. She had been the last to know, the last to realize that her dreams of being with him were just that—dreams. "You made it seem like it was genuine, Naruto. You talked about us to everyone, and I had no idea that the whole village knew the truth. I was the only one who didn't know. I was so naive back then."
Naruto's heart broke as he saw the pain in Hinata's eyes, the pain he had caused. "Hinata-chan, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you like that. I just... I didn't know how to handle everything. I was stupid, and I regret it every day."
Hinata took a deep breath, steadying herself. She knew she couldn't let her emotions get the better of her. "Naruto, I'll forgive you for what you did to me, but I can never forgive myself for what happened to nii-san."
Naruto's eyes softened with understanding. "Hinata-chan, what happened to Neji wasn't your fault. You know that, right? He's alright now, and he wouldn't want you to blame yourself."
Hinata shook her head, tears finally spilling over. "I know he's okay, but I still get nightmares, Naruto. It's never been easy. I thought maybe you could help me through it, but you were never there! You weren't even present in the first place!"
Naruto stared at the ground, his mind racing with the flood of emotions he had kept bottled up for so long. "Then why Sasuke?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, but laced with a bitterness he couldn't hide.
Hinata paused, taken aback by the sudden mention of Sasuke. "What about him?" she asked, her voice cautious.
Naruto clenched his fists, trying to make sense of it all. "Hinata-chan, you said I was never there for you. But why Sasuke? Of all people, why him? He deserted me and Sakura-chan long ago, left us all behind. He wasn't there for anything important! So why do you think he would be there for you?"
"Because he knows how it feels, Naruto. He knows what it's like to stand utterly helpless, watching the ones you love perish, and being powerless to stop it."
As Hinata turned to walk away, Naruto felt a pang in his chest, a tug at his heart that he couldn't ignore. He watched her leave, her figure growing smaller as she walked into the distance. A small, bittersweet smile tugged at his lips as he turned to face the sunset over Konoha.
For the first time, Naruto realized the true depth of what he had lost.

Hinata walked away from Naruto, leaving the past behind as best she could, but her heart still felt heavy. The conversation had reopened old wounds, and even though she knew she needed to move forward, she couldn't help but feel the sting of what had been lost.
Returning to Sasuke's room, she found him sitting on the bed, his gaze turned toward the window. He didn't say anything as she entered, but his eyes flickered to her briefly before returning to the view outside.
Hinata approached him quietly, unsure of what to say. The tension in the room was palpable, and she could sense that something was off. Before Hinata could say anything, the door to the room suddenly swung open. Sakura entered, her eyes widening with a mix of surprise and confusion.
"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura's voice wavered slightly as she saw him sitting there with Hinata. She had been wandering the halls, her mind racing with thoughts of him. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight of him but then dropped as she took in the scene before her. The sight of Hinata, standing close to Sasuke, stirred a storm of emotions in Sakura.
Sakura's feelings for Sasuke were still very much alive, and seeing him with Hinata, of all people, left her feeling unsettled. She had hoped to find a moment to talk to Sasuke alone, to offer her support, but now, she was caught off guard by the unexpected presence of Hinata.
Her hands trembled slightly as she set down her medical kit, trying to mask her confusion and hurt with a forced smile. "Sasuke-kun, I didn't know you were here. I, um, What happened to your arm? I can help."
Sasuke barely acknowledged her presence, his expression stoic. Hinata watched as Sakura began to work on his arm, her hands glowing with healing chakra. The room was silent except for the soft hum of Sakura's healing jutsu, but the silence was anything but peaceful.
Sasuke's eyes were hard, his jaw clenched as he stared out of the window, seemingly more focused on anything but Sakura's presence. It wasn't long before the atmosphere became suffocating.
"It's done," Sakura said quietly, stepping back after finishing her work. She looked at Sasuke, hoping for some acknowledgment, but he remained cold and distant.
Sakura bit her lip, frustration evident in her eyes. "Sasuke-kun, you should rest. Your arm needs time to heal properly."
Sasuke abruptly stood up, brushing past Sakura without a word. The sudden movement caught Hinata off guard, and she instinctively reached out, but Sasuke was already heading for the door.
"Sasuke-kun, wait!" Sakura called after him, but Sasuke ignored her, his anger barely contained as he stormed out of the room.
Hinata hesitated for a moment, torn between staying and following him. But something in Sasuke's demeanor told her that he needed her now more than ever. Without another word, she hurried after him, leaving Sakura standing alone in the room.
Sakura's eyes darted between Sasuke and Hinata, her heart aching as she saw the way they went together. She couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy and frustration. What was Hinata doing here? And why was Sasuke with her?
.
.
Outside, Sasuke moved quickly through the corridors of the hospital, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. Hinata caught up to him just as he stepped outside into the cool evening air.
"Sasuke-kun!" she called out, her voice filled with concern.
He stopped but didn't turn to face her. "What do you want, Hinata?" he asked, his voice low and edged with frustration.
Hinata took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice steady. "I just want to understand. Why are you so angry? Especially at Sakura? She was just helping you."
Sasuke's fists clenched at his sides. "You don't get it, do you? I don't need Sakura or anyone else trying to fix me."
"Sasuke, Why can't you see how much she loves you? Isn't it a blessing to be loved and cherished?"
"I don't need such f* blessing. You are giving this shity speech here since you couldn't ask the same to that dobe."
"W-what did you just say?"
"I said it loud and clear, Hyuga"
"How dare you drag my feelings for him into this, Sasuke?"
"So you still hold on to such stupid feelings for him, then go to that blond idiot and give your damn speech."
"Don't you dare turn this on me. I don't have any feelings for .., Wait, why should I say this to a impudent person like you who doesn't share anything with me ?"
"Wow, that's rich coming from you, Hyuga"
"What do you mean?"
"You are a bloody hypocrite. You didn't even speak a word to me about what you talked with Naruto and you dare call me impudent."
"If so, what happened between me and him is none of your business."
"No, you're pathetic—pining after a guy who clearly doesn't want you, and now that your love confession failed, you're taking it out on me."
"You're the one who's truly pathetic, Sasuke! You're so wrapped up in your own misery, you wouldn't know love if it stared you in the face. You've never truly loved anyone, never felt the agony of losing someone you care about. You're incapable of love."
The words hung in the air like a blade poised to strike. No sooner had the harsh words left her lips, Hinata slapped a hand over her mouth, horrified at what she had said. Her pale eyes widened as the realization of her cruelty hit her.
Sasuke stood there like a rock devoid of emotions. But inside, the words she had thrown at him cut deep, slicing through the fragile barriers he had built around his heart. The memories of his family, his brother, everything he had lost, flashed before his eyes with every painful syllable.
He couldn't figure out what was more hurtful.
For a moment, he was paralyzed, unable to process the emotions that surged within him. Was it the words themselves that hurt him, or the fact that they came from her? Of all people, it was Hinata—the one person he had begun to trust—who had managed to strike at the very core of his being.
Without thinking, He swung his arm, shattering a nearby tree with a powerful burst of chakra, the sound of splintering wood echoing through the air. The ground beneath them trembled, as if mirroring the turmoil in his heart.
Hinata gasped, watching in shock as Sasuke's anger and pain erupted in front of her. The sight of him so broken, so utterly consumed by his emotions, sent a chill down her spine. She had never seen him like this before—so vulnerable, so human.
In that moment, the gravity of her words hit her like a ton of bricks. She had pushed him too far, struck a nerve that should have remained untouched.
"Sasuke... I... I didn't mean..." Her voice trembled as she tried to reach out to him, but he flinched away, his eyes wild with a mixture of pain and fury.
"Just... leave me alone, Hinata," he spat, his voice rough and raw. "I don't need your pity."
He turned his back on her, walking away with heavy, deliberate steps, his shoulders hunched as if carrying the weight of the world. Hinata stood frozen, tears streaming down her face, her heart breaking for the pain she had caused him.
She wanted to call out to him, to apologize, to take back everything she had said—but she knew it was too late. The damage was done. All she could do was watch as he disappeared into the darkness, the sound of her own sobs echoing in the silence he left behind.
As the night closed in around her, Hinata sank to her knees, overwhelmed by the depth of her regret. She had tried to break through Sasuke's walls, but instead, she had only driven him further away. Now, she was left alone with nothing but the haunting realization of her mistake.
"I'm sorry, Sasuke... I'm so sorry...", she whispered to the empty air, hoping that somehow, somewhere, he could hear her. But there was no response—only the cold, unforgiving night, and the distant sound of Sasuke's footsteps fading into the shadows.
