Welcome back everyone! Today, we'll be covering two characters from the Dungeon Fighter Online Universe through Berserker and Striker, two of the classes from that game.
Specifically, the portrayals of the character classes from the fighting game spin-off, DNF Duel. While the game is made by Arc System Works, the characters still belong to Nexon and while the story is a Gaiden Game, it still has ramifications and ties to the Main Series.
As for the two characters, Berserker and Striker are essentially the faces of DNF Duel as they are usually fromt and center on the game splash cards for Game Store sites. Despite being named after their class, their characters in DNF Duel are very well developed and the two characters are likable. In fact, the roster has at least one likable trait, even if they are potrayed as villains or obstacles in each other's stories (including the antagonistic Inquisitor). This even carried into the five DLC Characters despite them not having a Story Mode.
Berserker is a man who wants better control over his demonic powers while fending off a persistant Vanguard, mainly to live longer and not lose himself to bloodlust so he doesn't destory and kill mindlessly again like he did with a village.
Striker is a confident martial artist striving to improve herself and use her strengh to protect while also wanting to avenge her dojo being destroyed by the Grappler. She's easily my favorite female character in DNF Duel.
Ultimately, the Berserker sub class is getting an upcoming Souls-like Spin-off called "The First Berserker: Khazan", focusing on the progenitor of the Berserker sub-class of Slayers, Khazan. Admittedly, I wanted a Spin-off focusing on Striker to be honest, but it's cool we get an origin story for the Berserkers.
These two will also be the first Korean Made characters to be included in this story as nearly every character in the roster is from a Japanese owned series (barring a few exceptions like Steve from Minecraft, which is Sweeden).
Also, to note, they have Description Bios from DNF Duel that I will use for them here. Lastly, there's no English Dub for these two sadly as the game didn't support a Dub. While the Game has a Korean Dub, they thankfully have a Japanese Dub, so I will use those Voices for them.
Lastly, while Berserker's attacks use blood, it can be kid-proofed to be 'Rage' instead of blood.
So, how does the Barrer of Khazan and the Aradian Martial Artist fair in Smash? Let's see how they do it.
Berserker
Origin: DNF Duel
Description: A warrior that ravages opponents with the power of bloodiness.
The Berserker is a Slayer that has fallen prey to the "Kazan Syndrome" which originated from Kazan, the God of Destruction. Although physical functions improve to astonishing levels as symptoms progress, those afflicted also become embroiled in a bloody rage and lose all sense of reason, destroying everything in their paths.
The Berserker is searching for a way to control his bloodiness after a brutal massacre which occurred when he'd once lost control. Now, being chased by soldiers of the De Los Empire, he finds himself headed across the border for the Principality of Bel Myre's forest.

Palutena's Guidance (Berserker)
Pit: "Whoa! Normally I would complain about another sword fighter, but this dude screams crazy guy!"
Palutena: "It's only natural as you're facing a Berserker, a sub-class of Slayers from the continent of Arad."
Pit: "Berserker? Slayer? You sure he isn't an Underworld demon?"
Viridi: "Based on what I can gather... Slayers are swordsman in which their left arm is possessed by a demon known as Khazan. That magic bracelet shackled on his wrist is meant to keep the demon at bay."
Viridi: "Or at least it was supposed too as Berserkers like this guy gives into the demonic power, giving them a wide range of power at the expense of giving into bloodlust. They use speicalized Rage Powers along with their big Zanbato to crush their foes."
Pit: "Rage? Doesn't that look like..."
Viridi: "Nope! Rage! Just Rage! If the Devs revealed what it truly is, we'll be on thin ice with the ratings board!"
Palutena: "This particular Berserker does at least have some honor and a remorseful side at least as he is searching for a means to control his bloodlust after destroying a village after losing control."
Pit: "Aw man... not being in control of yourself while doing evil against your own will has got to suck..."
Palutena: "As for the Berserker's tactics, he's a well rounded sword fighter with decent range and power. He can even increase his own strength by utilizing his Rage at the expense of taking damage until he uses a follow up attack or you strike him."
Palutena: "So make sure to keep on your toes and if he fires a Gore Cross, use your Guardian Orbitars to reflect it."
Viridi: "Yeah and one more thing... make sure your Will doesn't get crushed! You hear me!?"
Pit: "R-Right! Smash is a battle of Wills after all!"
Palutena's Guidance (Striker)
Pit: "I've seen my fair share of brawlers, but to see a woman brawler!?"
Palutena: "Shows that a woman can do what men can! This young woman is a Striker, a sub-class of Fighters from the continent of Arad."
Pit: "Fighter? Ah, so she's a martial artists. What's her story?"
Viridi: "To explain things, Fighters in Arad ares warrior who train in martial arts combat. They travel around Arad to gain newfound strength for one reason or another."
Viridi: "Strikers, like this one here, hones their bodies into a living weapon, focusing on on striking enemies with their rock hard fists and steel like legs, with their incredible speed and resilience making up for their short range attacks."
Pit: "Yeah... she... she definitely works out quite a bit..."
Palutena: "I see someone crushing on Striker here."
Pit: "No! No, not at all, I'm just impressed by her dedication."
Viridi: "As for this Striker, she continues to train for challenge and self improvement, sort of like Ryu. However, she also lives with the fact that the dojo she trained at was destroyed by a Grappler when she was young."
Pit: "What!? Why did that jerk do that!?"
Palutena: "The Black Pearl Ring targets Dojo's who extort villagers for protection money. Striker's dojo was hit as a result... it's unknown if there was a student doing so or if a false rumor led the Grappler there."
Palutena: "Considering Striker's beliefs about protecting people without any monetary reward in addition to believing in oneself, it certainly is a mistery. In the end, Striker is indeed a noble and brave hearted young woman."
Pit: "I hope she gets even with the Grappler when she can!"
Palutena: "As for how you fight Striker, she doesn't have any projectile attacks, but she more than makes up for it using her quick agility as Viridi mentioned a while ago."
Palutena: "She even has the unique ability to chain her normal attacks and her specials to create devastating Combo Chain Moves, outclassing everyone else in Smash in terms of technicality."
Pit: "Whoa... that sounds concerning..."
Viridi: "Hey, don't panic. As long as you keep your guard up and dodge effectively, you should be able to beat her. After all, battles are essentially a clash of Wills in the end. You just gotta prove your Will is stronger!"
Pit: "Right! I just need to believe in myself and I can do anything!"
The two Warriors from Arad have arrived at last!
See you next time for the next set!
