A/N: Been neglecting this fic for a long while now, so I suppose I should get the next chapter out.

Super Saiyan Crash: For now, let's just say that Star Fox are among the heroes that fought against the Regime but were captured. It's possible I may change my mind on this, but that's what I'm going with right now.

Chapter 10: Insurgency Wolf

Wolf and Samus materialized in the teleporter aboard the Space Colony ARK, which, unbeknownst to Samus, was that the ARK's exterior was redesigned to resemble Mario's face instead of Gerald Robotnik's. Samus accessed the computer inside the room they were in as Wolf kept guard at the door.

"That's it! Got control of the ARK's teleporter," said Samus.

"It can't be that easy," Wolf contested.

"When your Samus tried to hack my suit, she exposed her security protocols."

"You stole her password? I'm actually beginning to like you."

Wolf stepped out the room as Samus continued working. "Where are you going?" she called out. "The plan is to stay…"

"I won't be long," Wolf reassured her before leaving.

Wolf made his way into the ARK's central control room, spotting Sonic and Sora monitoring the space colony's main computer. He remained out of sight, stealthily planting Motion-Sensor Bombs around the room as the two Regime members conversed.

"I don't know. It made sense at first. The bad guys got what they deserved. But now I'm not so sure," said Sora.

"I get what you mean, Sora. But then I ask myself what I would do if what happened to Peach happened to Amy. And I already nearly lost her during the Starfall Islands incident, which is why I made up my mind and confessed to her afterwards."

Sora smiled. "Yeah. It's pretty much how I feel about Kairi. When Xehanort struck her down, I used the Power of Waking to save her despite Chirithy's warnings of what would happen to me."

"So you should understand why we have to do this, then."

"But it's just...ever since Mario took over, it seems like the Heartless are growing in numbers more and more. It makes me wonder the reason why so many hearts are falling into darkness. And then there's that other Link Mario plans on killing…"

"He's not actually going to kill Link," Sonic tried to convince Sora, though he wasn't entirely confident of that himself. "He's just bait to catch the real Link."

"And then what? Remember what he did to Pit, Palutena, and the others?"

Sonic hung his head down, not having a comeback. Sora then noticed something unusual on the computer's monitor.

"I don't know why they keep assigning us to monitor duty when neither one of us knows how to computer, but I'm pretty sure that red X shouldn't be there," said Sora.

Sonic looked back up, following Sora's gaze. "You're right. I'm pretty sure it means that the teleporter's offline."

"Somewhere you need to go?" Wolf asked mockingly, finally revealing himself.

"How the!?" Sonic exclaimed. He knew that if Wolf tried flying to the ARK with an unauthorized space vehicle like his Wolfen, the alarms would've sounded as the space station's automated defenses activated. To get answers, Sonic sped towards Wolf, only to get blown up by a Motion-Sensor Bomb on the bridge. Sonic was knocked into a second Motion-Sensor Bomb, sending him spiraling down the hole in the bridge caused by the first explosion. Sora summoned his Keyblade and flew towards Wolf, but was unprepared for his Wolf Flash attack, meteor smashing the Keyblade wielder down the hole in the bridge. Wolf jumped down the hole to a lower level to confront a recovering Sora.

"You're going to lose, hero," said Wolf.

The fight began with Wolf shooting from his blaster, which Sora deflected back with a Counterattack. Wolf rolled to avoid the reflected shots, getting close enough to claw Sora several times. Sora drug Wolf upward with an Aerial Sweep before juggling him with a Sonic Blade combo. As Wolf fell, he shot in Sora's direction with an energy-infused flying kick, grounding the latter with a kick to the midsection. Before Sora could get up, Wolf pulled out two Machine Guns and mercilessly gunned him down. In a last ditch effort, Sora rose his Keyblade and casted Thundaga, but Wolf dashed forward to avoid the three thunderbolts, again slashing Sora with a Wolf Flash, this one taking Sora down for the count.

"Still just a kid," Wolf said dismissively. With the ARK's main computer unguarded, Wolf approached, pausing to take in the sight.

"It's payback time," Wolf said to himself while grinning wickedly.

Not long afterwards, Sonic came to and saw Sora unconscious not far from him. "Wolf!" Sonic snarled before racing off.

Wolf typed in a sequence of commands on the main computer, finishing just before Sonic sped into the room and grabbed his wrist.

"Stop what you're doing!" Sonic commanded.

Wolf smirked before elbowing the hedgehog off of him. "It's not what I'm doing. It's what I've done."

Sonic curled into a ball, charging for a Spin Dash. Anticipating Sonic's attack at the right moment, Wolf erected his Reflector right before Sonic made impact, electrocuting the Blue Blur. Wolf grabbed Sonic by the throat and slammed him into the floor, but Sonic slipped out of his grip and literally ran circles around Wolf until he created an updraft that sent him upward. While Wolf was disoriented, Sonic rammed into him with a Homing Attack, launching him across the room. Wolf stumbled onto his feet and, predicting Sonic's next move, performed a sweeping kick, tripping the hedgehog as he blitzed towards him. Sonic crashed into a nearby wall and Wolf swiftly kicked him in the back of the head, knocking him out cold.

"The finale's coming, and you have a front row seat," said Wolf before heading back to the teleporter.

"We gotta get moving," Wolf warned Samus as he reentered the room.

Samus frantically typed away, not looking too happy. "What did you do, Wolf!? The Eclipse Cannon's reactor's gone critical!"

"First rule of warfare. Take out command and central. This space colony's the key to Mario's regime."

Samus slammed her fist on the keyboard in frustration. "You just jeopardized the entire mission!"

"Sticking it to Mario is my priority, not saving your Link," Wolf said nonchalantly. Samus grumbled as she contacted the Insurgency Link.

"Link. This is Samus. We have control of the ARK, but we have a problem. The reactor's going to blow."

"What!? What did you do!?" Link asked accusingly.

"Why does everyone think I'm constantly blowing up every planet or space colony I step foot on!?" Samus complained. "...OK, so I am responsible for a few of them exploding, but it's not always my fault!"

"Well, can you stop it?" asked Link.

Samus looked toward Wolf, who shook his head. "No. It's a runaway. You have 90 minutes."

"We're almost in position. Link out," said Link before hanging up.

"I'm going to have to teleport everyone off the ARK," Samus said aloud.

The computer displayed a holographic image of Bowser as it received a transmission. "Good work, you two," Bowser complimented.

"Got my hands full, Bowser. What do you want?" Samus asked.

"I need Wolf," Bowser admitted.

"For what?" Wolf asked.

"I just learned that the Halberd has prototype technology that Iggy and Ludwig believe can fix Link's weapon. I need you to bring it to me right away," Bowser explained.

"Does Link know about this?" Samus asked.

"No. He would've stubbornly insisted on using the weapon himself. I need to do it. Morale within the Insurgency has already been bad since Zelda's death last year. If Link dies, the Insurgency dies with him," Bowser answered.

"Bowser Koopa. Risking his life to protect Link. I want to believe it," said Samus.

"Send me the coordinates," Wolf requested.

At the Insurgency's base of operations, Twinrova stood guard over Ganondorf's cell. After locking him in the Arbiter's Grounds' magically sealed jail cell, Link, through no small feat, ripped the cell with Ganondorf inside clean out of the walls using Magnesis and drug it all the way back to the Insurgency's base.

"Get your clan into position. Distract as many Mii Gunners as you can," Link ordered Twinrova as he and Pit traversed the Mushroom Kingdom sewer system, communicating from afar through their Sheikah Slates.

"On it," Twinrova nodded before hanging up. Ganondorf, watching from his cell, scoffed.

"Are you going to bring his lunch and do his laundry next?" Ganondorf asked sardonically. "Or will you remember who you've pledged your unwavering loyalty to?"

Twinrova hesitated, Ganondorf's words striking a chord. Though Link's orders were quite clear, in their hearts, Koume and Kotake just couldn't abandon their master, not even an alternate universe variant of him. So, against their better judgment, Twinrova approached the cell and unlocked it.

"Link's going to kill us for this," Twinrova muttered as Ganondorf emerged from his cell.

"If you're so certain of that, then maybe you should worry less about Link, who has already made up his mind about killing you, and worry more about me, who's still mulling it over," said Ganondorf, glaring down at a terrified Twinrova.

In the other universe, Tails and the other scientific minds frantically worked to repair the warp gate as Mario and especially Sonic paced around Peach worryingly.

"Can it be fixed?" Peach asked.

"Maybe, but I don't know how long it would take. Parts of the warp gate were designed to only work with Samus' Power Suit," Tails explained.

"In retrospect, it was kinda dumb of us to design it like that," Mechanica admitted.

"We have to keep trying. This may be their only way home," said Peach. Mario nodded in agreement.

In the Regime Universe, Regime Leaf impatiently stamped into a room inside the Halberd.

"Make this quick, K. Rool. I'm needed at Isle Delfino," Leaf said irritably.

While standing in front of large computer monitor displaying a map of Hyrule, K. Rool smirked confidently. "Everyone knows me as a king, a pirate, and even a boxer, but people tend to forget that I'm also a scientist, and with my brilliant mind, I made quite the intriguing discovery," K. Rool bragged.

"Just get on with it!" Leaf yelled.

Taken aback, K. Rool cleared his throat. "I discovered anomalies."

"'Like tears in the fabric of space-time'. I got your message. Get to the point."

K. Rool pointed to an area on the map. "These dots are where I believe the duplicates arrived." He glided his finger over to a nearby building. "And there are energy readings here that match those of the space-time anomalies. It may be the source of the transfer."

"The Insurgency," Leaf guessed.

"I don't know yet. It's just a theory. A Game Theo…"

"K. Rool, I swear to Arceus I'll make Charizard Blast Burn you if you finish that sentence! Mario doesn't want theories, he needs facts! Why did you come to me with this!?" The two of them failed to notice Wolf sneaking up on them as Leaf sighed and rolled her eyes. "Send the coordinates to Sonic. He can confirm your theory faster than anyone."

K. Rool typed briskly on the keyboard, blissfully unaware of the commotion behind him. "Done. Is there any..."

He turned to see Wolf standing over Leaf, tied up in her own Escape Rope.

"You really figured out where our base is? I'm so FLATTERED! BUT YOU'RE TOO LATE!" Wolf suddenly shouted.

Wolf immediately pounced at K. Rool, but was countered by a Gut Check that bounced Wolf off of the crocodile. To Wolf's surprise, K. Rool took to the air in his Propellerpack and dropped a bomb at him that he narrowly avoided. Wolf dove behind a nearby steel barrel as K. Rool somehow fired a bolt of electricity at him. The barrel harmlessly absorbed the electricity and Wolf promptly threw it at the Propellerpack, severely damaging it. K. Rool panted as he bounced around the room until Wolf jumped up and cut the Propellerpack's straps with his claws, sending the crocodile hurling to the ground.

As K. Rool got up, he slammed his bottom down, sending green shockwaves through the floor. Wolf jumped to avoid the shockwaves, but was socked in midair by K. Rool's boomeranging boxing glove. K. Rool leaped high, preparing to crush Wolf with a splash, but Wolf kicked him in the side at the last moment, knocking him off course. In desperation, K. Rool fired his blunderbuss, but Wolf erected his Reflector, redirecting the cannonball into K. Rool's face, knocking him out cold.

"Too easy. Your tactics are one-dimensional," said Wolf.

"Squirtle Squirt!?" yelled an angry Squirtle with a few cracks in its shell as it waddled into the room. Unknown to Wolf, Leaf had earlier sent out her Squirtle to patrol the hallways. The Pokémon rushed to untie Leaf.

"Don't worry about me right now, just get him!" Leaf commanded.

Squirtle dutifully stopped fiddling with the rope and turned its attention to Wolf. "Squirt Squirtle Squirtle Squirt Squirtle Squirt," it said, pointing at Wolf.

"What's it doing? Cussing me out?" Wolf shrugged.

"He said you should've took our offer at amnesty," Leaf translated.

"And miss my chance of humiliating Mario's rebound girl?" Wolf said with a grin.

"How dare you! I'm a Pokémon Master! Squirtle, Withdraw!" Leaf yelled.

Squirtle retreated into its shell and spun rapidly as it slid towards Wolf, but the mercenary simply caught the shell, stopping Squirtle in its tracks.

"Ah yes, the master of obsolete creatures so dumb that they need to be told how to fight," said Wolf as he spun around and threw Squirtle behind him. "Give me a real challenge. Surprise me."

Leaf ordered Squirtle to use Bubblebeam, which Wolf reflected back at it, and though it didn't hurt Squirtle much, the attack did lower its speed enough to allow Wolf to stab Squirtle with the bayonet of his gun. Wolf pulled the trigger, shooting Squirtle at blank range with his Blaster for super effective electric damage. Squirtle knocked the Blaster out of Wolf's hand with a Water Gun attack before he could fire again and tackled the space animal to the floor.

"I got you! Bite!" Leaf yelled.

Squirtle bit Wolf on his cheek, and the latter howled in pain for several seconds until he activated his Reflector, repelling Squirtle off of him. In retaliation, Wolf clawed the Tiny Turtle Pokémon in a frenzy until Squirtle washed him away with a Waterfall attack.

"That's it, Squirtle!" Leaf cheered. "Now use Hydro Pump!"

Squirtle spat out a blast of high pressure water that narrowly missed Wolf as the latter took out his Machine Guns and opened fire. Even with his protective shell, the pain was too much for Squirtle to handle and it fainted next to its Trainer.

"Squirtle, no!" Leaf called out.

"You should've let your pet untie you when you had the chance," Wolf scolded as he walked away, with Leaf glaring at him, unsuccessfully trying to break out of her restraints.

Wolf entered a vault filled with experimental weapons still in various testing phases, but the one Wolf was there for was placed on a pillar at the center of the room. Wolf turned on his comm-link and contacted Samus. "Wolf here. I've got it. Send me to Bowser."

"Roger that. Hope it was worth it," said Samus. As she teleported Wolf to Koopa Village, she again opened communication with Link. "Are you ready, Link? We're down to 45 minutes."

Deep underground in the Mushroom Kingdom, Link and Pit finally reached a Warp Pipe directly leading them to the inside of Isle Delfino Prison. "We're in position. Commence assault," Link declared as he and Pit jumped into the Warp Pipe.
