Yu-Gi-Oh: The Lord of Red-Eyes.
Chapter 1: The Choice.
Darkness, all I can see is darkness around me. It feels like I've been here, for sometime now and yet I'm not afraid, more confused than anything else. I remember climbing onto the plane, getting comfortable, listening to the safety instructions and the plane taking off. Then there was shaking, screaming, fire and then, waking up here, wherever here is and realising I died. As I sit there, coming to terms with the fact, that I died, I start thinking about, my family and friends, wondering how they will come to terms, with my death and thinking, will I see my loved ones soon. My confusion grows, as it appears, I'm alone here and nothing is happening. If this is what the afterlife looks like, it's very disappointing.
Suddenly, a blue screen appears in front of me, the shock of it's sudden appearance, makes me take a step or two back. As I look at the screen, all it says is, System Update Complete, please touch screen, User. Reaching out slowly and cautiously, I touch the screen. The previous message fades from the screen and as if, someone is typing, a new message appears on the screen. Welcome User, Beta Test (your previous life) Complete, System Now Ready for Main Launch, Generating Options.
Suddenly the screen expands and a list of names appear. The strange thing is, they are not the names of people. They are the names, of different, cartoons, anime, computer games, TV series, comics, books and other mediums. The thing is, they all have one thing in common, at some point, I watched, played and read all these, in my previous life. As if sensing my thoughts, another blue screen appears to my right, with a new message. Detecting User Confusion, User Query Interface, Active. Please Enter Any Queries User.
Realising that this new screen, is a help screen, I reach out to touch it and a holographic keyboard appears. Using the keyboard, I type in my question, Where am I?, Loading Area, Purpose of Loading Area, Generating New User Life. My eyes widened, after reading that statement, looking back at the screen with the different names, I slowly put two and two together. It's asking me, which of these worlds, I want to live my new life. Taking a few minutes, to let this new realisation settle, I start going through the list.
As I'm scrolling through the list, certain names standout to me, causing my imagination to run wild. Dragonball, I imagine myself, turning Super Saiyan and facing off with Vegeta. Transformers, I imagine, I'm a valiant Autobot, transforming and facing the Decepticons. Pokemon, I'm travelling across Kanto, with my loyal starter Firestorm the Charmander. Gundam, I'm wearing a pilot suit and climbing into my Gundam, ready to sortie. As I continue scrolling, I see another name, that causes me to stop, Yu-Gi-Oh.
My imagination once again, makes me think, I'm a duelist, facing off against the likes of, Pegasus, Marik and Bakura. Taking part in the, Battle City Tournament and summoning my all time favourite monster, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. After that, I finish scrolling through the list and finally make my decision, slowly reaching towards the screen, I touch Yu-Gi-Oh. As soon as I touch Yu-Gi-Oh, all the other options fade and Yu-Gi-Oh, moves to the top of the screen. Soon a new list appears under Yu-Gi-Oh and I realise, it's listing each and every series from the original to the most recent.
Having gone through the list and making my decision, I touch the option for, Yu-Gi-Oh Original Series. The other options fade away and then a new message appears, Yu-Gi-Oh Original Series Selected, Confirm Selection User, Yes or No. Knowing that once I make this decision, there's no going back. Turning to the still active, Help Screen, I type in a new question, Question, once I select, new world for my next life, what happens, after series is over?, User will be offered, to either stay in chosen world or leave and select new world. Reading that statement, I realise that after the series is over, I can leave and choose another series or choose a completely different world.
With that, I turn back to the main screen and touch Yes. Once I touch it, the message fades from the screen and a new message appears. Selection Confirmed, Generating Character Creation Options. Suddenly the main screen splits, into a number of different screens, with different messages, Character Gender, Character Age, Character Appearance. Going through the different screens and making my choices, when I come to the screen with, Character Appearance, it presents me, with a number of different options, but before I choose any of them, I turn back to the Help Screen.
Question, for Character Appearance, can I use, an image from my previous life?, User, may use image from previous life, so long as, it's not the image of a main character, Generating Images. Suddenly the Help Screen, displayed images from my previous life, drawings and pictures I downloaded. Going through them, I soon found the image I was looking for, it depicted me, as if I was a character, from the Yu-Gi-Oh series, standing beside my favourite monster. Looking at the image, I can't help but smile, thinking about the dear friend, who drew it, Thank you Spidey, I will always be grateful, my dear friend. Touching the image, all the other images faded away. Image selected, does User wish to use this image for, Character Appearance, Yes or No.
Touching Yes, the image faded away, before a new message appeared on the Help Screen, Image uploaded to system. Turning back to the previous screen, the previous options have faded away and a new message appears. Character Appearance Selected, Rendering Image Now. As I read the message, suddenly there is a flash of light, that takes me by surprise, instinctively I close my eyes. After a couple of minutes, I slowly open my eyes and what I see shocks me, standing there is another person, but their appearance is based off, the image I selected. Slowly, I reach out my hand to touch them, but as I make contact, my hand passes through, yanking my hand back in surprise, I look at the other person and realise, it's a hologram.
Realising that the system, has created a life like hologram, for me to see, the appearance I have chosen, I slowly start walking around it. Taking about five to ten minutes, checking everything, I nod in approval, as if sensing my thoughts, a new blue screen appears in front of the hologram. Character Appearance Selected, Confirm Selection, Yes or No. Reaching towards the screen, I touch Yes, as soon as I do, the hologram fades away, along with the message on the screen. After that, the screen changes, turning into what looks like a I.D card, with a picture of my character on the left and on the right, rows of lines, some displaying information and others not. Character Creation Process, Almost Completed, Please Enter, Vital Information, User.
Seeing, that I have to fill out, the blank rows, I reach out to the screen and the holographic keyboard appears. After a few minutes of typing, I filled out all the blank rows and looking over everything, I nod. Confirm, Entered Information is Accurate, Yes or No. Touching Yes, the screen changes, showing a completed I.D card. The I.D card fades away and a new message appears, Finalise Character Creation, Yes or No. Reaching out, I touch Yes, the message fades and a progress bar appears in its place, Generating User Deck. Brimming with excitement, I patiently wait, while the system generates my deck, trying to guess, what kind of deck I'll be using. Soon, the progress bar is full and after it fades a new message appears, Character Deck Generated. The message fades away and then, the screen changes once again, now displaying the deck I will be using, scanning over the cards, I can't help but smirk.
The cards fade from the screen and are replaced, with a new message. Final Confirmation. Below the message, the screen expands and after a few minutes, of new messages appearing on the screen, a literal summary of all the choices I have made appear. Taking the time to go through everything and making sure, that everything is the way I want it, I look to the bottom of the screen. Yes or No, knowing that after this, there'll be no turning back, I turn to the Help Screen one more time. Question, is it possible to posses, one of the seven Millennium Items? No, Millennium Items Have Predetermined Destiny, User May Not Interfere. Knowing, that it was a long shot to begin with, I think for a few minutes, before a idea comes to mind. Question, possibility of creating, new Millennium Item? Calculating, ERROR ERROR ERROR! Suddenly the blue Help Screen, turns red and flashes with the word ERROR, appearing on the screen.
Suddenly the Help Screen dissapears, taken back by this I think to myself, well that was something, guess no Millennium Item for me, all well. Turning back to the main screen, I slowly reach out and touch Yes, suddenly the darkness that was around me, turns to light, but as this is happening, I look towards the screen and my eyes widened. There on the screen, is the ancient mystical symbol known as, The Eye of Wdjat, suddenly a golden beam shoots from the eye and hits me on my forehead. Pain the likes of which, I've never felt in my life wrecks my body and as the light engulfs me, all I can think is, MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE!
