A/N: Please read and review?
Sorry for the delay, but if you've read my other stories, you'll know why.
In the Corazon apartment building, on Friday, September 23rd, Anya was being led by her dad Gilberto down a hallway.
"Papa, can't you just tell me what's going on?" Anya asked, who was blindfolded.
"Sorry, Anya, but I can't." Gilberto said.
They both stopped by their apartment door, then Gilberto opened the door.
"Right, take off your blindfold?" he asked.
Anya took her blindfold off and looked into the apartment, when the light suddenly came on.
"Surprise!"
Anya blinked and saw Peter, Gwen, Miles, Mary Jane, Harry, Gloria, Liz, Ganke, Flash, Randy, Sally, Lynn and Rocky all pop out from behind the furniture or one of the doors.
"Happy Birthday!" they all said.
Anya gasped, speechless as she smiled, as it was her 17th birthday.
"Man, I can't believe I forgot my birthday." she said. "Gracias, everyone."
Lynn and Rocky both laughed and threw glitter onto her, followed by Gwen and Mary Jane, while the others smiled.
"Da nada, Anya." Peter said.
Anya smiled as the four girls moved away so she could see some presents for her, before she turned and saw Miles holding his out for her.
"Here, Anya. Happy birthday." Miles said.
"Thanks, Miles." Anya said, taking it.
Miles blushed with embarrassment, something Peter and Gwen noticed, before they grinned at each other.
"He still likes her." Gwen whispered.
Peter nodded as he wrapped his arm around his girlfriend.
Anya tore off the wrapping paper, and saw it was a drawing of her, Miles, Peter, Gwen, Harry, Mary Jane and Ganke.
"Wow. Thanks. This is impressive." Anya remarked.
"Thanks, Anya." Mikes said.
Lynn and Rocky both came over and looked at the drawing, before Lynn whistled.
"Well, I gotta admit, not bad." she admitted.
"Yeah." Rocky agreed. "You major in art, Miles?"
"It is my best subject." Miles replied.
"Well, next time, can you add us in, or do one of just us and Anya?" Rocky asked.
"Sure, but I don't know you two that well, so..." Miles began.
"Understood." Lynn said. "We'll model for you in that case, or at least send you pictures."
Miles nodded, as Anya began to unwrap her other presents. Peter and Gwen had both gotten her a new microscope to help with her science work, while Rocky and Lynn had gotten her a box of her favorite chocolates, and Mary Jane had gotten her a new gymnastic leotard suit, which was colored black and white striped.
"I think your old one's getting worn out." she said.
"Well, it has seen better days." Anya admitted. "It's starting to teer in the arms and legs. Thanks, MJ, and you got it in my favorite colors too."
Mary Jane smiled, as Anya unwrapped Harry's present, who'd gotten her a new phone, surprising her.
"Your dad told me your last one broke, so I figured I'd get you the newest model." Harry explained.
"Wow. Thanks, Harry." Anya said.
While Ganke had gotten her some new trainers, the others had only gotten her a card, including one from Teresa and Janice.
"Thanks, everyone." Anya said. "Where's Teresa, Pete?"
"Oh, she's with Aunt May at FEAST." Peter explained. "Due to how it was at Miles' birthday, we felt it better she avoid it, due to her age."
"Oh, yeah. She's only 12, I forgot." Anya said. "Well, tell her I said thanks."
"Sure." Peter promised. "I guess Janice had other things to do."
"Um, she did." Miles assured. "She told me when I asked her she had some stuff to do for her dad."
Anya sighed. "I still wish she was here, due to her being my partner in science." she said.
"Well, either way, you should be happy, Anya." Gilberto said, getting her attention. "And here's my present for you."
He tossed Anya some keys, then opened up a door behind him, showing a white vespa scooter, making her smile.
"Ah! Is that..." she began.
"I figured you're old enough now to ride one, as long as you're responsible." Gilberto advised.
"Oh, many thanks, papa!" Anya cried, as she ran and hugged him. "I promise I'll be responsible on it."
"Well, now that's settled, let's bring out the cake." Flash said. "I'm starving."
"I'll bring the cake out in few minutes, just need to add something to it." Gilberto assured, as Anya pulled away from him.
"Okay, papa." Anya said happily.
Gilberto turned and walked off, as Anya pocketed her keys.
"I can't wait to test that baby out." she thought happily.
She smiled as she looked at her friends and guests, knowing this party was gonna be amazing.
Meanwhile, the Mad Bomber was in a meeting with four of his men inside a warehouse, all of which wore the black jetpack suits.
"So, I suppose you're all wondering why I called you here?" Mad Bomber began.
"Yes, Mr. Carlyle." the first said.
"Well, here's why?" Mad Bomber stated.
He held up a copy of the Daily Bugle, which showed a picture of his old building, with the title saying 'Carlyle Building ruins investigated for causing world pollution'.
"That's why you wanted to bomb your building, isn't it; to cover your tracks?" the second inquired.
"Yes. Jameson is gonna pay for what he did, along with all the other press and papers out there." Mad Bomber snarled. "You all know why my life's work has been ruined."
"We do, boss." the third said. "I can see why the Bugle's a target, but why the rest?"
"Because they're all writing this stuff. The Bugle was just the first to do so, which exposed me and got me fired." Mad Bomber explained. "This entire city must pay for what they did to me, starting with all the paper buildings."
"What do you have in mind, boss?" the first asked.
"Simple. We're gonna plant bombs in all the paper buildings in the city, and blow them up tomorrow." Mad Bomber explained. "I can just picture all their faces when their buildings are destroyed."
He and his men all laughed.
"Any questions?" the Mad Bomber asked.
"Yes; why do we have to wait till tomorrow?" the first asked.
"Because tomorrow's Saturday, and the paper and press will be in for a shock when they see what we've done to their buildings." Mad Bomber explained. "The TV News can report it in, shocking everyone, and it will be all over the Sunday Newspapers, if they have any left."
He laughed evilly.
"I see your point, boss, and it's good." the third said.
The next day, in the morning, Peter was at the Daily Bugle, approaching Betty, who sat behind her desk.
"Hi, Betty." he said. "Everything okay?"
"Yes, Peter. Um, I think Mr. Jameson wants you." Betty said.
"Parker, my office, now!" Jameson barked.
"Uh, you better go." Betty said, pointing behind her.
Peter opened the office door and approached Jameson, who was reading a copy of today's paper.
"I need pictures for tomorrow's front page." he explained, throwing the paper down.
Peter looked at the front cover, which of the fire at the Carlyle Building.
"'Web-Headed menaces blots while building burns'?" Peter read, shocked. "But they saved everyone in there, Mr. Jameson."
"Maybe. I know they're not cold-blooded, but they still had a hand in burning it down." Jameson argued. "Besides, good guys don't sell papers."
Peter frowned slightly, when the phone on the desk rang.
"Jameson?" Jameson said, putting his phone on speaker.
"Hello, Jonah, I've got a catchy headline for you; 'Papers Blown to Smithereens!'" came Mad Bomber's voice.
Peter gasped, as Jameson got off his chair and looked at his phone.
"Who is this? What d'you want? And how'd you get my direct line?" Jameson demanded.
"You and your paper ruined me, now it's payback time!" Mad Bomber said. "I've planted bombs in all the Paper offices in the city, expect for yours for now as I want to surprise you. See you in the funny pages."
"Hello? Hello?" Jameson demanded.
Peter turned and ran out of the office, as Betty got up and looked at him.
"Pete, where you going?" she called.
Peter ignored her as he kept on running.
"Just what I need today, another whack-job? So, kid..." Jameson began, before noticing Peter had gone. "Parker!"
Peter ran into a bathroom and stopped.
"If every paper's got a bomb in it, I better alert the others." he thought, taking out his phone. "It'll be the only way to stop them all."
He dialed Gwen's number and put it to his ear.
"Hey, Pete. What's up?" she answered.
"Gwen, there's no time, but the city's in danger." Peter began. "The Mad Bomber's at it again."
He quickly began to explain the situation, and told her to tell Anya, while he would call Miles, as they were gonna have to act quickly.
"Understood, Pete." Gwen said. "Better let Ganke know so he can be in the Spider-Cave."
"I'll have Miles tell him." Peter assured.
A little later, Ganke was sitting at the computer in the Spider-Cave, working as he typed, hacking into the security buildings of all the paper buildings.
"Guys, I've found members of the H-Bombers at at least four paper buildings." he explained.
He looked up, as the corner of one of the screens showed the Web-Warriors masks.
"Guide us all to the nearest one we're all at, CAM." Spider-Man instructed. "We have to be fast here, which is why we've split up."
"Right." Ganke said, as he typed.
He brought up a map on the main computer screen, which showed four colored blips on, each representing one of the Web-Warriors. Spider-Man's was red, Ghost-Spider's white, Shadow-Spider's black, and Spider-Girl's was brown, each in a different part of the city,
"Okay, guys. I've got your locations." he explained.
"Really?" Ghost-Spider questioned. "Man, you must be great with computers?"
"He sure is, Ghosty." Shadow-Spider assured. "So, which buildings have the bombs?"
"Well..., I'll direct you all to the nearest one your at, but like Spidey said; they're all paper buildings." Ganke explained.
A little later, Spider-Girl was web-swinging towards the Daily Globe, as she was nearest, hoping she made it in time.
"I've gotta get there before that bomb blows, otherwise my papa's dead!" she thought frantically.
She turned right as she kept on swinging, before she landed on the rooftop opposite, seeing a large bomb on the rooftop of the Daily Globe, which was shaped like a large orb with three points on it.
"I've gotta disarm that thing fast." she realized frantically.
She jumped off the rooftop and somersaulted forward, before she held her arms out and web-zipped towards the rooftop of the Daily Globe, then landed on it.
"Hmm? This is weird?" she thought. "No sign of any-"
He thoughts were interrupted when the rooftop door got kicked open, and a H-Bomber dressed in orange, holding a staff and a riot shield.
"Spider-Girl?!" he gasped. "I thought I heard something up here."
He banged the shield with his staff, as Spider-Girl prepared herself, knowing she had to act quickly. She webbed yanked the shield from him, catching him off-guard, then she pounced forward and punched him with both fists, knocking him onto his back, before she flipped over him, and landed crouched down.
"OH!" he moaned.
Spider-Girl turned as the roof's door opened, and four more H-Bombers stormed in, two in orange, two in silver.
"Spider-Girl!" he gasped. "Stop her!"
They all charged at her, as she clutched her fists, knowing she had to be quick.
Meanwhile, Ghost-Spider was gilding down a street towards a paper building called the 'Queens Gazette', which was in downtown Queens.
"I've gotta get there and fast!" she thought frantically.
She landed on the wall of building, then turned to the Queens Gazette, and saw the same bomb Spider-Girl saw on the Daily Globe, only it was surrounded by three H-Bombers, all dressed in orange.
"Oh, webs!" she gasped. "I've gotta stop them before they arm that bomb!"
She jumped off the wall, spread her arms out to glide down, then landed on the rooftop, making the three H-Bombers turn to her.
"We got company!" one gasped. "Change of plan; activate the bomb now!"
One turned and rushed towards the bomb, before Ghost-Spider webbed up his legs, making him trip up onto his chest.
"Oh!" he moaned.
"Have a nice trip." Ghost-Spider joked, pulling on the web. "See you next fall!"
The other two H-Bombers came at her, before she put her hands on the roof, bent forward and kicked her legs out, split-kicking them both, sending them flying away.
"OH!" they moaned, hitting the roof on their back.
"Well, that's that." Ghost-Spider smirked, getting to her feet.
She turned as her Spider-Sense tingled, seeing more H-Bombers storming onto the rooftop, one in silver, one in black, and two in orange.
"Ghost-Spider!" the one in black gasped. "Get her!"
They all charged at her, as she prepared herself, knowing she had to stop them quickly to disarm the bomb.
At the same time, Shadow-Spider was web-swinging towards a paper building called the 'New York Bulletin', which was one of the oldest papers in the city. He turned left through the city, then landed on a rooftop near the New York Bulletin, which was near the East River, and saw the same bomb from the other rooftops.
"Whoa. That's nothing like from the Carlyle Building." he thought.
He jumped off the wall and spread his arms out, before he landed on the rooftop, but saw no sign of any H-Bombers. He began to approach the bomb, when the rooftop door up, and two H-Bombers in orange came out, before they spotted him.
"Shadow-Spider!" one gasped.
"Oh, so, you know me?" Shadow-Spider joked. "Some people often get my name wrong."
"Get him!" the second H-Bomber yelled.
They both charged at Shadow-Spider, who jumped over them both and turned invisible.
"Huh?" they both gasped.
They stopped and looked around, seeing no sign of him.
"Where'd he go?" the first questioned.
"Shadow-Spider's the one who can turn invisible." the second explained. "He could be anywhere!"
"What?!" the first panicked.
They both stood back-to-back and looked around, before they both got shocked.
"AHHH!" they yelled.
Shadow-Spider turned visible, holding his Venom blast on them, which made them fall onto the roof, knocking them out cold.
"Now that's shocking." he joked.
He turned as his Spider-Sense tingled, and saw at least five more H-Bombers storming onto the roof from the door, two in orange, two in silver, one in black.
"Don't let him stop the bomb!" the black ordered. "Take him down!"
Shadow-Spider prepared himself as they all charged at him.
"I better make this quick." he thought.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man was web-swinging towards the a Newspaper building called the Herald-Star, before he landed on the wall of the building opposite it, and saw the same bomb from the other rooftops, with two H-Bombers in orange near it.
"We better arm it." one said. "Reports are coming in that the Web-Warriors are attacking the others."
"Right." the second understood. "This whole building will be nothing but rubble when this goes off."
"Not on my watch." Spider-Man said, shaking his head.
He jumped off the wall and gilded down towards the rooftop, as the two H-Bombers turned to him.
"Spider-Man!" one gasped.
"Oh, you know me, eh?" Spider-Man asked, landing in a three-point stance.
"You won't stop us this time!" the second growled.
He charged at Spider-Man, who jumped over him like a leap-frog, hitting his back with his hands, knocking him onto his knees, then he turned and webbed him up in a cocoon.
"AHH! Let me go!" he demanded.
"Sorry, can't do that." Spider-Man joked. "Once that bomb's deactivated, you'll all be going to prison for a very long time."
He turned and ducked as the other came over and tried to punch him, before he uppercut him, knocking him out cold onto his back, then he webbed him up.
"Right, time for the-" he began.
His Spider-Sense tingled, making him turn as the door opened up, seeing four H-Bombers storming out, one in black, one in silver, two in orange.
"Okay, them first, then the bomb." he thought.
(Daily Globe)
Spider-Girl ducked as one H-Bomber in silver tried to punch her with his shock gauntlet, before she uppercut punched him in the jaw.
"OH!" he moaned, stumbling back.
Spider-Girl spun around and kicked his chest, knocking him onto his back, out cold. She turned as the two in orange came at her, before she jumped over them both, twirling around, then she kicked them both in the back, knocking them onto their chests.
"OH!" they moaned.
Spider-Girl landed with her hands on the roof, and her legs out, due to her gymnastics training, before the other silver H-Bomber came at her. He tried to punch her with his right shock gauntlet, but missed as she back flipped and landed on her feet, before she pounced forward, landing right near him. He tried to punch her with his left gauntlet, but missed as she rolled over, before she tripped him up by kicked the back of his legs.
"OH!" he moaned, hitting the roof on his chest.
He turned over onto his back, before Spider-Girl bent down and picked him up, holding him up by the collar.
"What you gonna do; kill me?" he snarled.
"No. You should count yourselves lucky; we all pull our punches." Spider-Girl joked.
She punched his face, knocking him out cold as he hit the roof.
(Queens Gazette)
Ghost-Spider back flipped away as the one in black, aimed a blaster and fired at her, making him miss, then she landed on her feet.
"Ha, you missed. Here's my repayment!" she joked, shooting a web at him.
She pulled him towards her, before she punched him hard, knocking him onto his back. She turned to the silver one, who came up behind her, before she grabbed his forearm as he tried to punch her, then she threw him over herself as she got onto her back.
"OH!" he moaned, hitting the roof on his chest.
Ghost-Spider turned as the two in orange came at her at the same time, before
two in silver, one in black, and two in orange.
(New York Bulletin)
Shadow-Spider jumped over one in orange, who tried to stab him with a staff, before he wrapped his arm, then activated his Venom Blaster, which shot through the staff, shocking the H-Bomber.
"AHHHH!" he yelled.
He fell onto his back, before Shadow-Spider turned and kicked the other one in orange, knocking him onto his back. He turned and jumped, split kicking the two in silver as they came at him, before he turned to the one in black, who held a high-tech blaster. He jumped as the H-Bomber fired it, hitting the rooftop, putting a hole in it, before he dived and kicked the H-Bomber with both feet, knocking him onto his back, out cold.
(Herald-Star)
Spider-Man turned around as the one in silver came at him, before he punched him in the face, knocking him out cold onto his back. He turned and jumped up as the one in black fired a high-tech blaster at him, before he shot two webs from his hands, which hit the H-Bomber's chest, then he dived down.
"Hey, what the-" he began.
Spider-Man kicked him with both feet, knocking him onto his back, out cold, before he landed in a three-point stance. His Spider-Sense tingled, making him turn as the two in orange came at him, before he back flipped, and split kicked them both in the chest, knocking them away, before they hit the roof on their backs, out cold, as.
"Well, that takes care of that." Spider-Man said. "Now for the bomb."
He turned around and approached the bomb, but then stopped and saw it had started ticking, as it had been armed by remote.
"Uh, guys, tell me your bombs haven't been activated have they?" he asked nervously.
(Daily Globe)
Spider-Girl looked at hers, hearing it tick down.
"Yeah." she said.
(Queens Gazette)
Ghost-Spider looked at hers, hearing it tick down as well.
"Same here." she replied.
(New York Bulletin)
Shadow-Spider looked at his, hearing it tick down too.
"Ditto." he said.
(Herald-Star)
Spider-Man looked at his.
"What are you guys gonna do now?" Ganke asked.
"It's time for plan B. If we can't defuse them, we'll have to toss them into the sky." Spider-Man realized.
"I can toss mine into the river." Shadow-Spider said.
"Right. Just do it fast before they blow!" Spider-Man ordered.
He shot a web at the bomb, then began to spin around, pulling the bomb up and spinning it like a hammer thrower. He spun the bomb around three times, before he bent down and threw the bomb up into the sky, before it blew up, shattering a few windows of nearby buildings, but other than that, no damage at all.
"Phew, did it." he sighed, rubbing his forehead.
(Daily Globe)
Spider-Girl shot a web at her bomb, then began to do the same, spinning around three times, before she threw the bomb up into the sky, which then blew up, creating no damage.
"Well, that was close." she sighed.
(Queens Gazette)
Ghost-Spider shot a web at hers, then began to do the same, spinning around three times, before she threw the bomb up into the sky, which then blew up, creating no damage.
"Okay, that takes care of that." she thought.
(New York Bulletin)
Shadow-Spider shot a web at his, then began to do the same, spinning around three times, before he threw the bomb up towards the river, which went into the river, before it blew up, creating a splash.
"Phew, I did it." he thought. "I hope Jameson doesn't try to trash us all for me having to dump in the river, and the others for damaging buildings."
Back at the Daily Bugle, Jameson was in the main room, as all his employees in the room stared at him, including Robbie, Betty and Ned, all of whom looked frantic as Jameson had explained what had happened.
"You're saying, there might be a bomb around here?" Robbie inquired.
"That's what that man said!" Jameson said frantically. "He's planted one in every paper building in the city! Whoever this guy is, it's the same guy who blew up the Carlyle Building. He told me and Parker that himself!"
"Well, where is Peter?" Ned asked.
"He was here, but he took off after the phone call." Jameson explained. "Don't know why?"
"Maybe he's gone to find out more." a man said.
"Perhaps." another said.
"Well, I hope he knows what he's doing." Betty said.
Robbie suddenly heard his phone ring, making him take it out of his pocket and put it near his ear.
"That kid may be a bit annoying, but I hope so too." Jameson admitted. "Would've been nice if he'd let me know where he was going."
"What?" Robbie questioned.
Everyone turned to him.
"Are you sure?" he asked. "Well, I... Thanks for the news, Captain."
He put his phone away and turned to the others.
"What is it, Robbie?" Jameson asked.
"Jonah, that call was from the Police." Robbie began. "Four explosions have gone off in the city."
"Four?" Jameson gasped. "Anyone-"
"No one's been hurt, Jonah." Robbie assured. "One got throw into the river, the others into the sky."
"But I take it there's a catch?" Jameson assumed.
"Yes. They're all paper buildings, including the Daily Globe." Robbie explained.
"So, whoever this guy is, is making good on his threats." Jameson realized. "I take it the bombs couldn't get disarmed and had to get tossed."
"Looks like it." Robbie deduced. "The Police have no other suggestion as to why."
"Hmm?" Jameson muttered. "Those Web-Warriors maybe menaces, but at least this proves they won't take things as far as this Mad-Bomber. They'll steal and knock out people, but they won't kill and create massive destruction."
Robbie sighed and shook his head, before he turned around.
"What do I have to do to convince Jonah they're making this city a better place to live in?" he thought.
Back at the Herald-Star, Spider-Man was rubbing his hands, looking at the knocked out H-Bombers, before he turned to the doorway, as one in silver showed up.
"Nice try, hero, but our boss always has a backup plan." he smirked. "He's planted bombs all over the walls of the building. No one can get to them in time, not even you."
He tried to ponce on Spider-Man, but Spider-Man bent down, grabbed him and threw him away.
"OH!" the H-Bomber moaned, hitting the roof on his chest.
"What part of 'Whatever a spider can' remains unclear to you?" Spider-Man asked, jokingly.
He turned and ran towards the left edge of the building, seeing there were indeed bombs along the wall, before he touched the side of the masks.
"Guys, if you've dealt with the main bomb, be careful." he advised. "The Mad Bomber's planted bombs on the wall of mine as a backup plan. There might be similar cases on your ends."
"Understood, Spidey." Ghost-Spider said.
"Roger." Shadow-Spider said.
"Check." Spider-Girl said.
"I'll see what I can find and direct you all to the bombs." Ganke promised.
Spider-Man turned and began climbing down the wall towards the first bomb, before he slammed his right elbow against it, disabling it.
"What kind of sick person puts bombs on walls as a backup plan?" he wondered.
He turned and crawled down towards the second bomb, then slammed his elbow into it, disabling it.
At the Daily Globe, Spider-Girl looked amongst the knocked out H-Bombers, before she jumped off the roof, then landed on the wall, looking down and seeing three bombs all along the wall. She shot a web at the building, pulling herself forward towards it, before she landed on all fours near one of them, then she banged it with her forearm. She turned and web-zipped down the building towards another, then she banged that one with her elbow.
At the Queens Gazette, Ghost-Spider looked at the H-Bombers, before she ran to the edge of the roof and jumped off it, then she turned and web-zipped towards the wall, before sticking to it, landing right next to one of the bombs.
"These guys really are crazy." she thought, as she banged it with her elbow, disabling it.
She turned and web-zipped down towards another, before she slammed her elbow against it, disabling it.
At the New York Bulletin, Shadow-Spider looked around, before he ran to the nearest edge and jumped off it, before he turned and dived, before sticking to the wall. He looked around and crawled towards one of the bombs, which was nearby, then he slammed his fist against it, disabling it. He turned and web-zipped down towards another, landing beneath it, then he turned and banged it with his elbow, disabling it.
Meanwhile, the same black Chinook helicopter the H-Bombers owned, was flying close towards the Daily Bugle, while inside, were about a dozen H-Bombers, one in black, two in silver, the rest in orange, plus the two pilots.
"Well, boys, this is it, the big target." the one in black explained. "The boss wanted Jameson caught with his pants down."
"That's why the others are bombing the other media places, to create a diversion?" one in silver inquired.
"Yes. With the Web-Warriors occupied, this place is all ours." the leader said. "Let's do it."
The Chinook's back lowered itself, then three at a time, all 12 H-Bombers jumped out and dived down, the orange ones holding a piece of the bomb, which together made up the same type as the ones on the previous buildings. They all activated jetpacks built into their suits, before they landed on the rooftop, then the orange ones began to assemble the bomb, as the Chinook flew off.
"We'll be back in 20 minutes." the pilot explained.
"Roger." the leader said, nodding.
He turned as the orange ones continued to assemble the bomb.
In the Spider-Cave, Ganke was working on the computer, trying to find out if anymore media buildings were under attack, picking up camera footage from various buildings.
"Guys, have you dealt with all the bombs on the walls? There should be seven per building." he explained.
(Herald-Star)
Spider-Man crawled towards one right below him, before he slammed his elbow into it, disabling it.
"That's my last one." he reported.
(Daily Globe)
Spider-Girl crawled down towards one beneath her, before she slammed her elbow against it, disabling it.
"I'm all clear." she reported.
(Queens Gazette)
Ghost-Spider crawled over to one on her right, before she slammed her elbow against it, disabling it.
"I'm done." she reported.
(New York Bulletin)
Shadow-Spider crawled over to one on his left, before he slammed his elbow against it, disabling it.
"Same." he reported.
(Spider-Cave)
"Have you found if there's bombs on other buildings?" Spider-Man asked.
"I'm still searching, but..." Ganke began.
He looked at the screens, one of which coming from a camera of a building near the Daily Bugle, seeing the H-Bombers on it, still assembling the bomb.
"Guys, it's not over yet." Ganke explained.
"What do you mean?" Spider-Man asked.
"There's bombs at another paper building." Ganke explained.
"Which one?" Spider-Man asked.
"It's the Daily Bugle." Ganke explained.
"The what?" Ghost-Spider exclaimed. "I thought the Bugle wasn't gonna be attacked?"
"These must've all be distractions to keep us away." Spider-Girl deduced. "Whoever's in charge must've wanted Jameson not to know."
(Herald-Star)
"So, the Bugle was a target after all." Spider-Man realized. "The Mad Bomber must've wanted Jameson to be caught off guard."
"So, what do we do now?" Ghost-Spider asked.
"CAM, who's nearest to the Bugle?" Spider-Man asked. "We've gotta stop them before they blow."
"You and Spider-Girl are closet." Ganke explained.
"Right. Spider-Girl, meet me there." Spider-Man instructed. "Ghost, Shadow, try and find out if there's anymore targets from the ones you've delt with."
"Understood, Spidey." Ghost-Spider said.
"I'm on it." Shadow-Spider said.
"I'll meet you at the Bugle." Spider-Girl assured.
Spider-Man jumped off the rooftop and began to swing off, knowing he and his team had to be quick.
Meanwhile, Spider-Girl was web-swinging as fast as she could towards the Daily Bugle.
"This Mad Bomber must really be crazy." she thought, as she turned left. "I just hope either me or Peter get there before the place blows up, or Jameson will really be mad at us all."
She turned right as she kept on swinging, hoping and praying to get there in time.
At the Queens Gazette, Ghost-Spider was looking around at the H-Bombers she'd defeated, before she approached the one in black.
"Shadow, I'm gonna start my interrogation." she explained.
(New York Bulletin)
Shadow-Spider was looking at the H-Bombers, before he ran to the edge of the rooftop, seeing several Police cars down below.
"Right. I'll check with the Police as they've arrived in my area." he explained.
"Understood." Ghost-Spider said.
Shadow-Spider jumped off the rooftop and dived down towards the Cops, before he shot a web at the building, then swung down and landed near them.
"Shadow-Spider?" one said, shocked.
"Yeah." Shadow-Spider said. "They're all knocked out on the rooftop. Same with the other media places."
"Even the Bugle?" a voice inquired.
Shadow-Spider turned around and saw Gary Taylor from the crime lab approaching.
"Spidey and Spider-Girl's heading there now." he explained. "Ghost's over at Queens Gazette interrogating some of the H-Bombers."
"Good to know." Taylor sighed. "These bomb threats have got the Crime Lab working overtime, trying to find out who's in charge of these H-Bombers."
"He calls himself the Mad Bomber." Shadow-Spider explained. "We don't know why he's doing this though."
(Queens Gazette)
Ghost-Spider looked down at the H-Bomber in black, who woke up and looked at her, before he found he was webbed up, unable to move.
"Hey, what's the idea?" he demanded.
"Can't let you get away now, can I?" Ghost-Spider frowned, putting her fists on her hips.
"Ah! What do you want?" the H-Bomber growled.
"Why does the Mad Bomber want these paper buildings destroyed?" Ghost-Spider demanded
"Why should I tell you?!" the H-Bomber snarled.
"Because if you do, maybe you'll get a lighter sentence than your friends." Ghost-Spider offered.
The H-Bomber growled and hissed at her, before she came over and stomped on his left forearm.
"AH! Fine, the Mad Bomber wants revenge against them for ruining him, and that's all I'm saying." the H-Bomber hissed.
Ghost-Spider glared at him, before she kicked him in the face, knocking him out cold.
"Well, that's better than nothing, I suppose." she thought, before looking at the other H-Bombers. "Maybe one of the others will talk more."
Meanwhile, Spider-Man landed on a rooftop near the Daily Bugle, seeing the H-Bombers on the rooftop, almost finishing assembling the bomb.
"Oh, great! I better get over there fast!" he thought, before he jumped and began web-swinging towards it.
Inside the Bugle itself, Jameson was in his office, when he turned left and saw Spider-Man web-swinging towards it with his rooftop.
"Spider-Man?" he thought. "What's he doing here?"
He turned and ran off, with Robbie, Betty, Ned and several others looking at him.
On the rooftop, the H-Bombers all turned to the black one.
"We're all set." one in silver said, holding his thumb up.
"Arm it then, quickly." the black one ordered. "Then we can get outta here."
He turned around just as Spider-Man landed on the rooftop.
"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't let you do that." he said, waving his right forefinger.
"Spider-Man!" the leader gasped. "Get him!"
All but one H-Bomber in orange charged at Spider-Man, while the last one stayed near the bomb.
"I've gotta make sure they don't activate it." he thought frantically.
He jumped over the eleven H-Bombers, then shot a web at the one near the bomb, but missed as he rolled forward, hiding behind the bomb. His Spider-Sense suddenly tingled, making him turn and back flip as two in orange came over and tried to punch him, making them miss, before he kicked a third in the chest with both feet, knocking him onto his back.
"Don't let him near the bomb!" the black one ordered.
One in silver came at Spider-Man, who activated his gauntlets and tried to punch him, but missed as Spider-Man ducked and turned around, who then punched his belly.
"OH!" he moaned.
Spider-Man back flipped and kicked him in the jaw, making him fall onto his back, out cold. He turned as two more in orange came at him, before he back flipped and punched them both in the face, knocking them out. He landed crouched down, then turned and saw the one by the bomb.
"No, can't let them activate it!" he thought frantically.
He turned as his Spider-Sense tingled, seeing one in orange coming to punch him, but he grabbed his forearm and threw him over himself.
"OH!" the H-Bomber moaned, hitting the roof on his back.
Spider-Man turned around and saw the bomb had been armed.
"We've got it." the H-Bomber near it sneered. "See you, Spidey."
"Oh, shoot! I better get this over with fast!" Spider-Man thought.
He bent down to jump up, when the one in black body tackled him as his Spider-Sense tingled, knocking him down onto his chest.
"OH!" he moaned. "Uh, didn't come in time!"
The black H-Bomber got up as Spider-Man rolled onto his chest, before he aimed his high-tech blaster at him.
"I'll never be able to miss at this range." he sneered.
The remaining six H-Bombers all laughed, two of them cracking their knuckles, while the one in silver activated his gauntlets.
"The boss will be pleased if we kill Spider-Man too." he said.
"Oh, yeah." the leader said.
He prepared to pull the trigger, when Spider-Girl came diving in from behind and kicked him with both feet.
"Ha, have a nice trip." she joked, as he hit the roof on his chest. "See you next fall."
The leader fell unconscious upon hitting the roof, as the other six gasped.
"Spider-Girl!" the one in silver gasped.
"That's right, and you're going down." Spider-Girl joked, shooting a web at him.
It hit his chest, before she pulled him towards her, then she punched his chest hard, knocking him away, before he hit the roof out cold.
"You okay, Spidey?" Spider-Girl asked, turning to him.
"Yeah, but they activated the bomb." Spider-Man explained.
"Then let's finish this quickly?" Spider-Girl suggested, helping him up.
She turned and charged at two, as Spider-Man charged at the other three, before he jumped and dived, kicking one hard, knocking him onto his back, out cold. Spider-Girl jumped and twirled around over her two, before she webbed them both up by the legs.
"Hey!" they complained.
Spider-Girl landed crouched down, then pulled on the webs, pulling both H-Bombers down onto their backs, then she pounced forward and landed one-footed one both of them, knocking them out.
"Ha. Down for the count." she joked.
Spider-Man stared at his remaining two, who both came at him, before he shot web at their faces, blinding them.
"AH! I can't see!" one complained, as they tried to pull the webbing off their masks.
"Me neither!" the other groaned.
"Well, too bad, boys, 'cause it's lights out." Spider-Man joked.
He punched one in the face, knocking him out cold, then turned and punched the other's belly, then elbowed his back, knocking him onto his chest.
"Nice moves." Spider-Girl remarked.
"Thanks." Spider-Man said, as they held their thumbs up. "Now, we need to stop the bomb."
They both turned and ran towards it, as it kept ticking down, before they stopped near it and examined it.
"Oh, great! No time to disarm, just like the others!" Spider-Man frowned. "These bombs must only have a short time fuse."
"So, we do like before?" Spider-Girl assumed.
"You know it. Care to do the honors?" Spider-Man asked.
"My pleasure." Spider-Girl grinned, cracking her knuckles.
She shot a web at the bomb, then began to spin around, pulling the bomb up and spinning it like a hammer thrower. She spun the bomb around three times, before she bent down and threw the bomb up into the sky, before it blew up, causing no damage.
"Right, we need to figure out the back-up plan." Spider-Man said.
"I doubt they've had time to plant bombs all along the walls." Spider-Girl argued.
"I agree." Spider-Man said. "Take a look around while I check with the others."
Spider-Girl nodded before she turned and looked at the knocked out H-Bombers, while Spider-Man touched the side of his mask.
"Ghost, Shadow, have you found anything out from the ones in your area?" he asked.
"Not from mine, but the CSI's and Cops have arrested those in my area." Shadow-Spider reported.
"Well, I have, Spidey." Ghost-Spider assured. "Turns out the Mad Bomber hates the papers for what they've said about him. That's all I've gotten however. The Cops are arresting them right now."
"Okay. CAM, what about those at the Globe and the Herald?" Spider-Man asked.
"Cops are there now, but I can't see any sign of movement on the roofs." Ganke explained. "I'll keep my eyes open. Cops are defiantly heading your way now though."
"Right." Spider-Man said.
He turned around as Spider-Girl came back towards him, while also noticing all the H-Bombers were webbed up.
"That was quick." he remarked.
"Ha, it was easy. One of them told me they didn't have time." Spider-Girl explained. "I webbed them all up for the Cops."
"Good. Let's get outta here." Spider-Man said.
They both turned and ran along the rooftop, before they jumped off it and began to web-swing off, just as Jameson came onto the rooftop and looked at the H-Bombers.
"Just what happened here?" he wondered, scratching his head. "I am seriously gonna need answers for tonight."
Later that day, Peter and Gwen were having dinner together in a Italian restaurant in Times Square called Times Square Diner & Grill, having a grilled streak each, with Baked Potato & Grilled Asparagus, and a chocolate milkshake each as well. Miles and Ganke were sitting having a soda together at the table right behind them, sitting beside each other.
"Man, this has been one long day." Miles sighed.
"I know. It's a pretty several of those H-Bombers escaped." Ganke sighed, who'd kept his eyes on cameras from buildings near the media buildings, and saw those from the Herald and the Globe had escaped.
"At least we saved the Bugle and the other paper buildings from being destroyed." Peter said.
"Yeah. Hopefully Jameson might actually praise us for once." Gwen hoped.
"I doubt it, Gwen." Peter sighed. "He saw me and Anya on the rooftop before we left to deal with the backup plan. If anything, he'll just say we were we're not as low as they are."
"Well, we're about to find out." Ganke said. "Look?"
They all turned to a nearby TV screen, which showed Jameson's latest News broadcast.
"...and regarding the latest from the so-called H-Bombers, who tried to destroy not only the Daily Bugle, but other paper buildings as well, I...reluctantly admit, without the Web-Warrior menaces, they could've been destroyed, with many lives lost." he sighed. "While I still think their menaces, this act proves they're not killers or will cause massive destruction on purpose. But that's all I'm saying that's good about them."
Peter sighed, making Gwen touch his hand.
"At least he didn't say we had a hand in it." she reasoned. "That's a slight improvement."
Peter smiled. "Yeah, you're right. That's better than nothing."
"Like how he admitted we're not cold-blooded killers like the Sin-Eater?" Miles assumed.
"Yeah." Peter sighed.
"Hey, we'll see you guys later." Miles said, as he and Ganke finished their drinks. "We'll leave you two alone."
"Sure, go ahead." Gwen said. "Peter and I can finish up our date while you two go on to do whatever."
"Yeah. We'll see you." Peter said.
Miles and Ganke both waved as they left the restaurant, leaving the couple to finish their meal, Ganke closing the door behind them.
"You sure you're not hungry?" he asked.
"Yeah, but I think they deserve to be alone." Miles said. "They are dating after all."
Ganke turned and saw Peter and Gwen giggling through the window as they kept eating.
"Fair point." he said, turning away.
They both turned as they heard a noise, before they saw Anya riding over on her vespa, wearing a helmet.
"I see you're enjoying your new ride." Miles joked, as she pulled over.
"Oh, I am." Anya assured. "I've been riding this thing ever since I got home and showered after we dealt with those H-Bombers. You?"
"We all came here, but Peter and Gwen are having dinner together." Miles said.
"Well, I can't say I blame them. I worked up quite an appetite myself after all that." Anya said. "You guys hungry?"
"Yeah. We just think Peter and Gwen would rather be alone right now." Miles said, waving his hands.
Anya looked through the window, seeing Peter and Gwen laughing and touching each other's hand.
"Well, I think I know a place for us so we don't disturb the happy couple." she joked. "You guys in?"
"Uh, actually, I've gotta get home. Got some stuff to do." Ganke said. "I'll see you later."
He turned and walked off, leaving Miles and Anya alone, who both looked at each other.
"Guess it's just the two of us?" Anya assumed.
"Yeah." Miles blushed. "Do you have a spare helmet?"
Anya smiled and took out a spare helmet from her backpack, which she tossed to him.
"Thanks." he said, catching it.
He put it on, then got onto the bike behind Anya, blushing as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Don't want to fall off." he stated.
"Fair enough." Anya assured. "Now hang on?"
She revved up the bike and drove off, unaware Peter and Gwen had been watching the whole scene.
"And that's how they're off to their first date." Gwen smirked.
"I wouldn't say it's a date, Gwen." Peter said. "We don't even know if Anya likes Miles."
"I know, Pete. I'm just kidding." Gwen assured, before she touched his hand. "You know, a bike ride together would be romantic."
"Pity I haven't got one." Peter sighed, putting his hand in hers. "Maybe one day, since I need a license first."
Gwen smiled as she leaned closer to his ear.
"Maybe start working on that this year, for that way we can in college." she whispered, kissing his cheek.
Peter smiled, liking that idea, before they went back to their meal to enjoy the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, in their warehouse, the Mad Bomber and three of his top men were all standing together.
"So, our plan failed?" Mad Bomber gritted. "Why?!"
He slammed his fists into a desk as his men all looked at him.
"The Web-Warriors, boss." one explained. "They're a lot faster than we thought."
"From what our men who escaped reported, they seemed to have split up to take care of them all." the second explained.
"But how'd they find out so quickly?!" Mad Bomber demanded. "I mean, they weren't there when we were setting any of the bombs?!"
"Uh, boss, this might explain that." the third explained, who held a copy of the Daily Bugle. "Look at the picture."
He tossed it onto the desk, then the Mad Bomber picked it up, seeing the picture had the Web-Warriors on, which had in the corner 'Photo by Peter Parker'.
"So, the Web-Warriors photographer must've been there when I called Jameson." Mad Bomber deduced. "No wonder they found out so quickly. A slight miscalculation on my part, I must admit. That still doesn't explain how they knew I was targeting the Bugle?"
"Boss, I've been hearing rumors the Web-Warriors have their own base, just like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four." the second explained. "It is possible they had someone there checking cameras of nearby buildings."
"Meaning, they wouldn't have found out till it was too late if this Parker hadn't tipped them out." Mad Bomber deduced. "Next time we strike, this city will pay, and if the Web-Warriors show up, we'll be more prepared."
