[Unknown Dimension
POV: Midoriya Izuku]
"Don't die on us…I don't think I could live if you did…"
Izuku's eyes snapped open and he found himself… somewhere. Truthfully, He couldn't quite make sense of where he was. The world around him looked like a watercolor painting made of shimmering gold and white light. He stood up and looked around in confusion.
The last thing he could recall was talking to…Tokoyami Fumikage?
Izuku held the side of his head with a wince.
Why was it so hard to remember?
"Because you're dying for good, dimwit," a female voice rasped out from behind him. Izuku turned around at the sound of the voice…only for a foot to collide with his face, sending him flying back into the air and then landing on the ground…or what made for a ground.
"To think, when Koenma offered me a repeat, I would be stuck being reincarnated into a good-two shoe."And of course, green is your color…" the voice continued. Izuku slowly lifted himself off the ground and saw…a small-built aged woman with light, wavy pink hair that stopped at her shoulders and brown eyes.
She wore a red sleeveless tunic with green trim and gold flowery designs, and a thick purple lining on the right area of the chest that was folded under a green sash. Underneath her tunic is a long-sleeved white shirt, matching white martial arts pants, and purple shoes.
"Wait? What?" Izuku asked. "D-Did you say I'm your reincarnation?"
"You were," the woman corrected. "Until you decided to rush into a situation without doing your homework and now? You're paying the price for your impatience." The woman sighed. "And to think, I thought I left reckless idiots behind when I finally kicked the bucket."
"I-I had to do something!" Izuku defended with a noticeable frown. "Dark Shadow was out of control and causing a lot of d-damage! If I didn't help—"
"That grim reaper would have dealt with it," the woman interjected. "It would have taken more time, but she would have succeeded. But thanks to your savior complex, you decided to rush in without hesitation, ending in this result."
"I-I don't have a—Ow!" Izuku exclaimed as the woman's knuckles collided with the back of his head. He turned to see her standing behind him in confusion before he turned back to where she was standing previously, where he saw the fading image of the woman.
She was fast.
"You can lie to everyone else, but you can't lie to me, idiot," the woman told him. "Did you forget who you are?"
Izuku rubbed the back of his head with a frown. "I-I don't have one…" Izuku softly repeated. "At least…I don't think I do…"
The woman let out a small hum of displeasure. "Reckless and dumb. What did I do to have such a foolish reincarnation?" the woman plopped down beside him and crossed her arms.
"I-I'm sorry," Izuku softly apologized. "For wasting this chance to live again…B-but I'm not sorry for saving people…" Izuku took a deep breath when he noticed the woman's sneer. "F-For my entire life, I-I've heard people apologize to m-my mom for m-me being born Q-Quirkless…" Izuku lowered his head, tears filling his eyes. "M-My own f-father…abandoned us because of it after blaming M-Mom…W-We've always b-been seen as useless to o-our Quirk-filled society…"
The woman's sneer somewhat softened.
"M-Maybe you're right," Izuku continued. "Maybe I do have a c-complex…maybe it's because I want to p-prove that a Quirkless person l-like me can be a h-hero too…T-That we aren't just genetic failures t-that are s-seen as worse than dirt…W-We deserve more than that!"
The strange realm remained quiet for a moment before the woman smirked. "At least you actually mean it and didn't bullshit out an excuse," the woman replied. "Your mother raised you well."
"S-She did…" Izuku murmured.
"And yet, you repay her by being so foolish," the woman countered.
Izuku's eyes widened.
"…Listen up because I'll only get the chance to say this once," the woman warned. "Society says a lot of things that can affect a person. My brat was deemed a failure because his mother was a prostitute and he grew up in the streets, uncaring about authority. In the end, he wound up as someone extraordinary and saved the world more times than even you can imagine. He always had something to prove because of his upbringing…but he never forgot nor took advantage of the people that cared for him."
Izuku's slowly turned and looked at her and to his surprise, she was no longer old. Her visage was that of a young woman with large brown eyes and vibrant pink hair, which was now styled in a braid.
She was breathtaking.
"You want to prove that those without these…Quirks are important. Good for you, but don't allow yourself to lose sight or take advantage of the people who do see you as important, Quirk or not. Got it? At the end of the day, you matter. Don't forget that," the young woman told him.
Izuku's eyes glistened.
That was the first time anyone had ever told him that…
"I-I won't…I p-promise," Izuku said.
"I know," the woman said. Without warning, the world around Izuku pulsated with white light.
"Oh, I guess time is up," the woman announced as she stood up and placed her hands behind her back. She took a few steps forward until she suddenly stopped and turned her head to look at him out of the corner of her eye. "…I should also mention, I lied to you," the woman revealed. "You aren't quite done yet with your life. Lucky you."
"W-Wait! So that means I still have a chance?!" Izuku exclaimed as he rushed to his feet.
"Of course. It was touch and go but you managed to pull through. Well…more like that egg of yours helped you pull through," the young woman confirmed. "Now, get going. You have a life to go back to." The woman fully turned around to face him. "And If I find out that you've half-assed what I said, I'll be back and that kick I gave you will look like a love tap compared to what I'll give you."
"I won't! I promise!" Izuku saluted as the world around him started to brighten. "Oh! Wait! Your name! I never got it!"
The woman grinned and she morphed back into her older state. "And you never will. Farewell, Dimwit."
[Human Realm – Midoriya Residence (Morning)
POV: Midoriya Izuku]
Izuku slowly opened his eyes and found himself staring at a familiar ceiling….Well, part of his vision was the ceiling. The other part was looking up at Hinageshi.
"You're finally awake, that you are," Hinageshi tiredly greeted.
"You look exhausted," Izuku murmured. "Heck, I feel exhausted. Is this normal for spirits?"
"It can be when considering the situation," Hinageshi answered. "But, we were able to do it…I was able to keep Dark Shadow at bay and somehow, you were able to get the boy and his Quirk to get along…"
"A-Ah! T-that's good…" Izuku said, relieved. "W-Where is he, anyway?"
"He is resting in the hospital, that he is," Hinageshi answered. "However, he will recover from the minimal injuries he received…"
"Whew…I-I'm glad he's okay…" Izuku said.
"Yes. However, it seems like you were very close to death…If not for your spirit egg, you would have ceased to exist," Hinageshi revealed.
"I know…" Izuku murmured. "I'm sorry. I must have given you quite a scare…"
"Not just me," Hinageshi said before she motioned her head.
Izuku turned his head and he saw a sight that made his heart break. Sitting around his bed in bloody clothing was his mother, Chikuchi, and Tōru. They looked so exhausted…
"For now, rest," Hinageshi advised. "We will talk about your recklessness soon, along with your next steps, when you recover…"
Izuku nodded and slowly drifted off but as he closed his eyes, Tōru's head slowly lifted, and for a moment, their eyes connected, before his eyes closed.
