Ch 6

After Bruce had left, Barry then met back up with his friend Iris back again at his apartment.

"Look, I really feel bad about earlier." Iris said, trying to comfort Barry. "I probably could have been less sensitive. I mean, I can't imagine what you've been through. It's like you lost both parents in one day."

"I did." Barry said regretfully.

And it wasn't far off from the truth either.

His mom had been killed and now his dad was wrongfully in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

"I lost my mom to a tragedy and I lost my dad to the failiures of the justice system." Barry summarized.

"Is that why you got into criminal forensics?" Iris asked. "To try and fix the system?"

"Yeah." Barry replied, glumly.

He didn't feel like he was making much progress in fixing the system though.

His boss always wanted to move onto other stuff.

"That's kind of why I got into journalism, too." Iris said.

Then Barry had a sudden idea.

He could just go back in time and warn them secretly and that would prevent the whole thing from ever having happened!

"I think whoever broke into the house thought it was empty." Barry recalled. "And then my mom was in there with the knife in her hand and things went bad, just this absurd chain of events. And it's like, this footage should've finally supported my dad's alibi. But instead... three lives ruined for a can of tomatoes."

Then Barry suddenly realized another thing and he didn't even realize that he was saying his plan out loud.

"That could be it! If my mom doesn't forget the tomatoes in the first place, then he never leaves and she never dies. Bruce said no interaction. This is just quick in, quick out, back to the present, like I was never even here. Oh my god, thank you, Iris."

Then Barry ran out, leaving Iris just confused and then Barry entered superspeed and went into the glowing Chronobowl again.

Now it was time to set everything right.

Then Barry zoomed back through the past way back until he was at the right moment when his mom was buying supplies from the grocery store.

Then Barry saw the can of tomatoes and put it in the cart.

"Don't forget the tomatoes." Barry said softly.

Then Barry entered back into the Chronobowl and things started again and this time it showed the alternate version of Barry living a happy normal life with his family.

But then suddenly everything slowed down in slow-mo and then a glowing purple version of himself came in and then punched Barry into a swirling golden portal.

When Barry got back up, he was no longer inside the Chronobowl.

He then looked around him and he quickly had a sense of dread.

All the buildings, all the stop signs, even the road.

It was all the same.

Barry was now trapped in the past.

"No, no, no." Barry said to himself. Then he super-sped to his alternate self's home.

Now he had to get back to the present or he would be trapped in the past, forever.
