"I think I can answer at least part of that question." The group assembled in the Library looked up at the sound of a voice by the doors to the Library and saw a second Xander and two Cordelia's. "We ran into the local Cordelia while looking for our little Dawn Patrol. Imagine our surprise when we discovered a second Xander and Cordelia busted up because Xander suddenly out of no where found himself attracted to a girl he's always thought of as a sister. An attraction that vaporized the moment they got caught. First time is an accident, second time is coincidence, third time is enemy action. But I'm suspicious of coincidences, they're way too easy to set up and remind me of prophecies. Prophecies only come true if you make them come true. If Buffy had never marched into the Master's lair because a book told Giles she was going to, she wouldn't have died and the Master wouldn't have risen. And even if he had, there were far better ways to deal with him than by taking a single crossbow bolt to fight him. Like a flamethrower or a flaming bottle of alcohol."
"So is breaking the local Xander and Cordelia up part of the price for your power, Willow or just a bonus as far as you're concerned?" One of the Cordelia's asked. "Local me claims you spent a lot of time ranting and raving about them being together and saying cruel things about her behind her back to Buffy. Our Willow struggled a little bit in the beginning but becoming a werewolf and being a mated pair with Oz made her more willing to accept a truce. So, are you responsible somehow for them breaking up? Was it on purpose or an accident?"
Willow snarled and glared at the newcomers before throwing up her hands. "Okay, fine, it was on purpose, but it's for a good reason, not just because it was a way to get even with the bitch for years of making my life Hell."
"You really like to exaggerate don't you, Willow?" The local Cordelia glared back. "The worst thing I ever did to you was make fun of your weird clothing choices, you tried to start a literal hate club against me."
"Of which Xander is the Treasurer!"
"Math is the only subject I ever needed help in, Willow, I'd never willingly be Treasurer of anything." Local Xander muttered.
"Same here." The other Xander agreed. "That's why I have an accountant Mr. Chase recommended. Let him deal with the headache of all those numbers."
"You have enough money that you need an accountant?" Local Xander asked.
"Well, I sort of inherited stuff...like a mansion and billions and a boatload of responsibility."
"From who?! There is no one on either side of our family that has that kind of money, not even our cousin Rigby, they're not even millionaires, let alone billionaires."
"Well, let's just say Halloween changed my life. Along with the whole world."
"Ethan Rayne Halloween? That Halloween?"
"Yep."
"What did you go as?"
"Dr. Strange, turns out the Montesi Formula is real."
"What is the Montesi Formula?" Giles asked.
"A spell that wiped out every vampire on Earth in our reality and was powered by the Hellmouth. Which it drained. Remind me to give you a copy before we leave, just make sure you anchor it to the Hellmouth or it's very likely it'll corrupt your soul." A gaping Giles and an astonished Buffy and Angel were staring at him. "And Angel's curse modified it and made him human, but he can also be made human using the blood of a Mohra demon. I found that tidbit of info in Giles' books."
"Back on topic please." Local Cordelia demanded. "What exactly could the good reason be for breaking me and Xander up, Willow? It had better be damn good or I'm going to pound you into a sticky paste."
"I could do more good helping Buffy than Xander ever could." Willow insisted. "Even with the Seeing he does, but the Power wanted him neutralized."
"Neutralized?" Local Xander asked. "Is that why Buffy seems to have forgotten everything I've done to help her and decided I should be 'fray adjacent'. Why she seems to no longer trust me and is leaving me out of things? Why she doesn't seem to care that by using me as part of her plan to expose Faith last night Angel left me alone, unconscious on the street and never checked to find out why I never came back? Does neutralizing me include killing me?"
"No! I don't want you dead, Xander and I'm sure the Power doesn't either, she just doesn't want you involved, that's all. Buffy and myself and even Cordelia can do more good than you can. Cordelia can be the Mother of Peace, the Power said so. And Buffy and Angel can change the world together, they can destroy all the vampires and demons and the Hellmouths. You'd just get in the way of it."
"Where you really trying to cast an antilust spell on you and me when I caught you trying to do a spell on me without my permission?" Local Xander asked.
"I was trying to cause Cordelia to not want to be with you." She admitted. "The clerk at the Magic store directed me to better ingredients than I was planning on using."
Giles looked horrified and then asked Willow to explain just how Cordelia could be the Mother of Peace and Buffy and Angel could change the world. The horror grew as Willow explained.
