The day dragged on and Xander spent most of it lost in thought, going over everything he could think of, trying to figure out what he'd seen that warranted the pain and need for vengeance the crow said his soul had carried with it. Lots of bits and pieces but nothing adding up to an ah ha! moment. He absently noted Buffy and Willow whispering to each other but neither spoke to him. He'd need to talk to them eventually, find out for sure if Buffy had used him or if either knew Angel had left him on the street last night. And what to do about Faith, because he was damn sure she wasn't going to trust any of them after learning that Giles had told everyone except her that what happened with Finch was an accident. He was so lost in his thoughts he hadn't realized he'd bumped into Cordelia until she hissed an insult at him. He was frozen as he felt her pain and rage at his betrayal. Even now, nearly two months after catching him kissing Willow in that factory when she'd rushed to rescue him from Spike. She had moved passed him before he'd managed to recover from the onslaught of emotions. He continued on to his next class having no idea how he could fix that mess or why he'd been so stupid in the first place.

Meanwhile in the Library Giles moved to return some of his reference books to the stacks and stumbled almost literally over the young girl asleep on the floor.

"Miss," He gently shook her shoulder. "wake up, you shouldn't be sleeping here, you shouldn't even be in the High School, I should think."

"He's in pain, can't you feel it?" The girl mumbled, reluctantly opening her eyes. "Giles? Why are you in my bedroom?"

"This isn't your bedroom, Miss, this is my Library and have we met before?"

"Oh great, it happened again." She groaned. "I can't wait until they figure out how to keep this from happening."

"What happened, Miss?" He helped her stand up.

"My name is Dawn and I portaled from another reality. That's my superpower, you see, making portals. But it started happening while I'm sleeping and the Scoobies have been trying to help figure out why and a way to stop it from happening. Don't worry, I won't be here all that long, Xander'll find me, he always does."

"You know Xander? And how will he find you?"

"Of course I know Xander, I know all the Scoobies, I'm a Junior Scooby. I've even fought demons, well used my power to send them to another reality, but that still counts! Xander said so. And he'll find me by using Magic, duh."

"I wasn't aware that Xander Harris could do Magic, at least he's not involved in Magic in this reality, here Willow does Magic. Do you have any way of proving you're from another reality?"

"No, but I'm sure if you checked me using Magic you'd find something that might prove it. And Willow doing Magic isn't a good idea, she thinks Magic's like math or something."

Giles frowned at that statement, wondering if it was true, because he'd thought Willow understood, but if she didn't all kinds of problems could develop. "When I approached you, you mumbled that someone was in pain, who were you talking about?"

"I don't know." She shrugged. "Must have been dreaming about something, but I don't remember it. So, can I wait here in the Library with you until Xander finds me?"

"Well, I suppose for now it wouldn't hurt. The group's lunch period will be starting before too long, I'll have messages delivered to their classrooms telling them to meet us here."

"All of them, Xander, Cordelia, Buffy and Willow, Harmony, Johnathan, Amy and Oz?"

"Not all of those people are part of the group here, but I will notify the ones that are, along with Angel and we'll see if we can't help you."

"Angel's here too? Just how many realities does Buffy date dead people in? Doesn't anyone get how gross it is?"

"Well, he has a soul and is occasionally helpful."

"Has the curse broke? Because it has in other realities and it's always badness when it does."

"Um, yes but the situation was remedied."

"Right, okay I'm just going to sit at the table here and wait and maybe we can compare realities and see how different we are from each other. Aside from the fact that this is yet another reality where there's no me, which is so a bummer."

"Why do you believe there's no you? Just because I don't recognize you?"

"If you're here, you're here because you're Buffy's Watcher right?"

"You know about her being the Slayer?"

"Of course I know, she's my sister. Well in the reality I come from anyway and at least one other, but apparently not here. So, like I said, bummer."

"Well, I was her Watcher, I was fired recently and another's been assigned to her."

"Bummer for you."

"Yes, quite." The bemused Giles studied the young girl for a moment looking for any likeness to Buffy and not finding any. Buffy was small and blond, this girl was tall and a brunette. "I'll just see about getting a message delivered to everyone and call Angel." He went to his office to take care of it and then returned to continue talking to the girl. Angel was the first to arrive, followed by Buffy, Willow and Xander. Xander had just pushed through the doors when Angel stiffened and stared at him.

"Angel? Something wrong?" Buffy asked and Xander wondered if Angel really had expected him to be dead.

"Who the Hell are you? Because you don't smell like Xander!"
