Only I can hope so!

Anyways, here's an omake/reaction story on DMI making an report to First Prince Hanse Davion and his trusted accomplices on the appearance of new BattleMech (Gungnir) spotted at purge of pirate clusters by mysterious Terrans. I'll start off with Federated Suns then Wolf's Dragoons.

New Avalon, Federated Suns

Fox's Den

At the Fox's Den top ranking members of the Federate Suns military and government are conducting a secret meeting discussing a new intelligence report that popped up after a encounter with a merc company called the Raynors Raiders in the Periphery. The Director of DMI named Nicholas Truston walks to platform and turns the projector on, revealing the image of a unidentified BattleMech.

Everyone in the room was clamoring at this new revelation. "It looks like an Warhammer to me. What's so special about it?" a officer scoffed as Director Truston shakes his head.

"I am afraid that you are wrong on this matter, Mr. Peterson. While this BattleMech looks vaguely similar to Warhammer, it is an entirely new BattleMech design that we have never seen before." Director Truston replied evenly. "This becomes especially noticeable with other variations that have been recorded. Like this one."

"Then by all means, please show us on what this new BattleMech is supposedly capable of." First Prince Hanse Davion ordered as the director nodded as taking an Battle-ROM on the screen, showing the new BattleMech in action.

"What the, look at how fast those projectiles move! And with that kind of rate of fire." One of the officers said. "Not only that look closely. It just shrugged of that hit from those PPC's that would cripple equivalent mechs. Its also moving at speeds faster than most heavy mechs I have seen." Said another one. "Wait a minute look at that. Those LRM like missiles just took out that Locust. But it was already to close for what LRM's should be able to target." Another officer replied in amazement. "Also, have you noticed that Mech has its own point defense system through materializing that drone out of the nowhere and blocking missiles, projectiles and even an PPC hit at some times!" Other officer exclaimed.

"What you are saying is correct but not quite correct." Director Truston bluntly replied. "From the information we have been able to gather and has been examined by our R department this mech has a large amount of lost tech or lost tech like systems." This statement caused the First prince to frown.

"The first two weapon we managed to identify as a form of magnetic accelerator weapon like the Gauss Rifle of the late Star League. The one on the right arm the "Railgun" as the Raiders call. It fulfills a role similar to the aforementioned Gauss Rifle. However it seems to have been based on Railgun prototypes from old days of Western Alliance that was discounted due to various issues like inefficiency and EM interference."

"Right now, it seems that railgun is far more powerful than what we remember about old railgun concepts during Western Alliance's time, as you can see in this footage, a single shot from that railgun tore off a massive chunk of the Banshee's armor." Director Truston continued on. "It seems that Raiders have somehow perfected railgun technology. The Railgun seems to perform much like the Gauss rifle of the star league but with a lower rate of fire. It makes up for this by far more powerful than the Gauss rifle was indicated to be by the reports form the Star League era. As seen it this footage strong enough to kill light mech out-rightly while crippling medium Mech and heavily damaging heavy and assault Mechs. Not mention that they fire a heavy slug accelerated to a discharge velocity of three thousand meters per second. The slug itself is charged with a plasma that disperses in a tightly focused cone from the point of impact."

"In other words, they were capable of firing heavy slugs at three kilometers per second and can turn to plasma, making it very effective at armor piercing." said Director Truston.

"I'm impressed that Terrans somehow has perfected railgun concept especially utilizing some kind of plasma slugs, as we see that railgun being fired repeatedly without having any issues at all." First Prince Davion commented. "Nonetheless, I shalt let you to speak more about that Mech further, Director."

"Yes, First Prince." Director Truston bowed. " Up next is the other Magnetic weapon which the Raiders refer to as a Gauss rifle not to be confused with the star league Gauss Rifle. The Raider Gauss rifle functions completely differently from the Railgun and the League Gauss Rifle. Instead of firing powerful shells with a lower rate of fire, it instead functions more like the humble machine gun. Causing a lower amount of damage per shot but making up for it with a incredible high rate of fire. Current estimates say that it has at least a fire rate of 20 rounds per second. This fire rate allows it to quickly rip through lightly armored targets and exploit the holes created by the Railgun".

Then one of the attending generals a short bald man stood up and asked "that's indeed an incredible rate of fire but that should also cause a massive heat buildup. Do you know how there able to cool this rapid fire Gauss rifle?

"Unfortunately we currently have no idea how the Raiders cool the weapon" responded Director Truston frowning. "The best our R department can give us without a intact example is baseless speculation."

Truston quickly collected himself before continuing. "The next weapons system are a set of 3 laser weapons. They seem to be the most similar to our own medium lasers but with more punching power. Experts estimated that these laser is roughly ten to twenty percent more powerful than our standard medium lasers. How the Raiders were able increase the effective damage of their laser weaponry is currently unknown."

"Next up is their point defense system as we can clearly see that mech has one drone that acts as point defense system with fairly powerful laser that can block everything including up to an PPC hit." Director Truston explained. "According to the R guys, they have an skeptical theory on how drone was even formed when we don't see any clear sign of drone platform. They explained that it's something to do with nanomachines."

"What?! Nanomachines is practically science fiction as that technology never got proven to be feasible at first place." Other officer exclaimed. "Honestly, experts says that it's only explanation for this drone to "magically" appear from nowhere after all." Director Truston replied in what-you-can-do shrug tone.

Suddenly the oldest attending general spoke up. "It seems your statement from at the start of this presentation holds true director. All the weapon systems show until now indeed seem to be Lost Tech in one form or another. The question then becomes where or how did they get all of this technology? Could these Raiders be descendants from SLDF defectors that fled the Inner Sphere?

"That could be possible but very unlikely." Director Truston admitted. "Because if they are really related with SLDF, Taurian Concordant wouldn't even think to hire them much less ally with them, considering their past with SLDF."

"The final piece of equipment that caught our interest was there missile weaponry. The Raiders seem to have figured out how to combine SRM and LRM technology into one weapon system. As you can imagen this greatly simplifies there logistics chain. Based on this ROM footage and other recorded engagements, these missile launcher systems have a wide range of viable engagement ranges. Be that short, medium or long range." Director Truston explained. "Analysts also believe that it has no minimal range and utilizes powerful anti-armor warheads that can shear half to an full ton of armor per hit. And from what has been observed in footage of multiple engagements it is far more accurate than our SRM/LRM. Close examination have analysts agree that it has around a 90% hit rate."

"Very interesting, this type of weaponry would greatly simplify on logistic footsteps." First Prince Davion mused. "Perhaps I will have to ask our R department about this idea."

"Director, what is name of that BattleMech?" The old general asked. "According to an former slave that was rescued by the Raiders, the 'Mech is called Gungnir." Director Truston answered.

"Gungnir? Fine name for such a powerful Mech." First Prince Davion replied.

EDIT: Overhauled this omake with help of Omega-Chris. Thanks to him, it looks so much better!
