So I've been getting more and more into Super Sentai recently and as such, I think this story islong overdue. If it helps, think of it as an alt universe to my other fanfic Izuku Midoriya: Morphin Master. There will be some new concepts here that won't be in Morphin Master (If I ever get back to writing that) so I hope I do it justice! As of right now this will include everything up to Episode 4 of No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger as I haven't watched anything beyond that.
"Do yourself a favor and take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a Quirk in your next life"
Izuku grit his teeth as he flashed back to Bakugo's last words to him as he leaned over the roof's railing. He had no real intention of jumping, of course. The roof just happened to be one of Izuku's favorite places to go. It was quiet, almost peaceful up here, and really gave Izuku time to just think.
Think about how bullshit Aldera High School actually was. If the verdette actually jumped, they'd no doubt actively sweep it under the rug so they can maintain their squeaky clean image.
Sometimes the injustice wanted to make him scream.
You...
Izuku whipped his head around, searching for the voice before suddenly being enveloped by pitch darkness. Oh great... He thought with a minor annoyance. Someone decides to attack the quirkless kid. Again.
You, who witnesses the injustices of the world... Do you wish to make this world a better place?
That was when Izuku saw it. A pair of glowing blue eyes staring right at him, almost mechanical in nature. He couldn't exactly explain it, but he knew this wasn't a Quirk. No, it felt almost... Holy.
To make the world a better place... Immediately, his mind thought to All Might and others like him. Heroes...
"It's all I ever wanted." He found himself saying.
Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and Izuku realized he was standing on the hand of a giant robot, the one he's been speaking to this entire time. Looking around, he realized he was no longer in Musutafu, but instead what looked like Tokyo, but not the Tokyo he knew. No, this looked like if Tokyo had been a war zone.
I am Tega Sword, the last of the Mechanical Giants. I would offer you, Izuku Midoriya, a contract. While the people of this reality have done well defending this world from evil using what you know as "Quirks," I fear that the time is soon coming where no Quirk could stop what is on the horizon. War is coming, and should you accept, I would request you to be my champion. In doing so, you would claim the power of those who came before you, known as the Sentai.
Suddenly, Izuku's brain was flooded with images, memories of worlds that were not his own. He saw an alliance of kings, a group of friends who decided to take life by the wheel, a team of thieves working with a team of police to achieve a greater good, multiple teams reminiscent of dinosaurs and finally, witnessing the Great Legend War.
It was then and there that Izuku knew he needed to be a part of this. If all of these people could become great heroes, even without powers, and would be willing to fight even when their Sentai powers failed them, how could he ever hope to be a hero if he didn't do the same?
"Tega Sword..." He said, verdant eyes looking into those blue mechanical ones. "I accept this contract."
Toshinori Yagi was rather glad it had been a slow day thus far. Since he didn't have to stop any crime today, he could give One For All a rest and run some errands without interruption. It was good, he had pushed himself quite hard yesterday and didn't think he could afford to risk his buff form this morning.
Then he heard the explosions.
Running outside, he immediately saw a crowd forming around a nondescript alley, and he immediately understood why: Some sort of slime monster had taken a kid with an explosion quirk hostage. To make matters worse, there was nothing he could do to help, transforming now would do nothing but damage his body further. Why?! Why did he have to be so weak?!
That's when he saw it: A young man with thick, curly green hair ducking under Backdraft's water and running straight past Death Arms and Kamui Woods. What the hell was he thinking?!
What the hell was he thinking?! Why did he run straight into the battle? He had no plans at all, it was as though his feet began to move on their own!
You know what to do, Izuku Midoriya...
Tega Sword's voice echoes in his head and with a sudden flash of light, the very thing he needed was on his hand, fashioned as though it were a gauntlet... or a wolf's claw.
"ENGAGE!" He yelled, hearing some voice from beyond respond to his call ("Clap your hands!"), putting his new ring into the gauntlet and swinging it to his left side, holding it vertically by his head and clapping twice. Izuku then moved his feet, placing them in specific positions while swinging the gauntlet to his right, holding it vertically on the opposite side of his head and clapping once.
It was at this point that the Slime Villain started his attack, using Bakugo's explosions in an attempt to decimate Izuku. Amazingly however, it didn't work. It was as though Izuku's strange little dance was protecting him... Almost like whatever Izuku had put in motion couldn't be stopped.
Izuku then swung the gauntlet in a circular motion 360° clockwise once and another 270° clockwise from his point of view, drawing a wide circle and pointing the gauntlet horizontally to their left while holding it by their hip, clapping twice, causing the ring to glow with a powerful red light. He finally twirled 360° to his right while pointing the gauntlet upwards, drawing and manifesting a gold-colored energy ring to manifest above the user. And then, with a final clap, Izuku did the only thing that made sense to him, as though Tega Sword himself was willing him to do so.
He began to howl.
Gozyu Wolf had awoken.
A shorter chapter to essentially serve as a prologue, how'd I do? What Sentai do y'all wanna see next?
In any case, next time will be Izuku's first battle as Gozyu Wolf! If you can't tell, I am taking heavy inspiration from both No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger as well as Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, though I plan for every Sentai to have their time in the sun.
Who knows? Maybe I'll let some Kamen Rider in too ;)
