It had been two days since Spinelli and Mikey found out that their lives were gonna change forever. And while they were excited about it, they were also nervous since there was a lot of planning to do. They didn't know where to start. Till one day...
Inside their living room, Spinelli was watching wrestling on TV, while Mikey was laying down, his head resting against Spinelli's lap. Spinelli couldn't help look down at Mikey sometimes and roll her eyes...but she was smiling. It was actually kind of cute that Mikey was giving their kid attention already. But she'd never say that out loud. She didn't want to look like a softie.
"Titanium Thunder is the best leg grabber." Spinelli said, laughing.
"Are you sure we should even be exposing our baby to this much violence?" Mikey asked, looking up at Spinelli.
"Hey, the kid might or might not like wrestling, but it'll come in handy kicking serious butt with bullies on the playground when they're bigger." Spinelli pointed out.
"Maybe." Mikey replied, shrugging.
Spinelli could still see Mikey looked skeptical. Spinelli smirked and then laid her hand on Mikey's chest, while her other stroked back his hair, gaining his attention yet again.
"You learned to put up with me, remember?"
"I could never 'put up' with you. Whatever our kid wants to be, I'll be happy for them." Mike assured.
Spinelli nodded in approval then leaned back against the couch. Only a few seconds later, Mikey looked back up at Spinelli.
"Spinelli?"
"Yeah?"
"I think what would make our baby happy now is giving them some food."
Spinelli heard a faint growl coming from her stomach, making her chuckle, followed by Mikey. Mikey sat up and then kissed Spinelli's cheek.
"You keep watching the match. I'll take care of the food."
"You're a prince, Blumberg." Spinelli said, winking, making a clicking noise with her tongue.
Mikey chuckled then gave Spinelli another kiss on the cheek then got up from the couch. As Spinelli kept watching the TV, her eyes then focused on her flat stomach. For some reason, she felt like...it shouldn't just be her and Mikey knowing about this. There were other people they'd wanna tell eventually. Why not start now? Spinelli thought, now smiling.
Later that night, Mikey and Spinelli were in bed. Mikey was lowered down to Spinelli's stomach and running his hand over it, while Spinelli watched. Their moment of relaxation was interrupted by the phone ringing. Mikey looked confused while Spinelli reached over for the phone.
"Hi. Who is this? Oh, hey V, glad you called back."
"Is that Vince?" Mikey asked, looking up.
Spinelli did the hush single then turned her attention back to the phone, while Mikey waited patiently and continued stroking Spinelli's stomach.
"Yeah, it's true. We're psyched about it. No, we don't know if we're signing him or her on for sports camp yet. But if we do, we'd make sure you're the counselor. Yeah, looking forward to it too, buddy. Mikey sends his best too. See ya at the shower. Later." Spinelli said.
Spinelli put the phone back. Now curious than ever, Mikey moved back up towards Spinelli, then stroked her bare shoulder.
"So... That was Vince, huh?"
"Uh-huh."
"Why was he calling so late?"
"I, uh...might have told T.J. who told V about our little stranger." Spinelli said, smiling sheepishly.
"Oh, really?" Mikey asked, blinking in surprise.
Spinelli nodded, then Mikey chuckled, then wrapped his arm around Spinelli, then began caressing her arm instead, then shrugged.
"Well, I really couldn't hold back on telling somebody about this either. So...I went ahead and told Gretchen and Gus while I was in the kitchen fixing your snack." Mikey confessed.
"No kidding?"
"Nope."
Spinelli smiled then snuggled up to Mikey, feeling a whole lot better. She then laid her head against his chest, then kissed his cheek.
"So... How did they take it?"
"Gretchen was already thinking about pregnancy books from the library tomorrow. I... really didn't hear Gus's reaction. But I did hear a thud."
"Go figure." Spinelli said, shaking her head amicably.
"I imagine Teej and Vince are also ecstatic."
"Does a cow belong in a bull pen without being checked first?"
They both laughed then Spinelli yawned and fell asleep against Mikey. As Mikey continued letting Spinelli sleep at his side, he couldn't help but wonder if they were ready for the next big step. Telling their parents.
