Chapter Five – Twins United
Sukko, being the King of Stealth, always made sure that his stupid antics, never backfired onto Sonic. He was incredibly careful, but that didn't mean he couldn't have fun. Since his date with Eggman, Sonic had that as a backup with Eggman. When it was eventually time to surrender, and the Human refused, he could become Sukko's plaything, something that Eggman was utterly terrified of. Just the words 'Eggi-poos' was enough to get the Human fleeing from the battlefield, and that included from Sonic. But the Blue Blur didn't wind the Human up over it, but Sukko did. But the Sorcerer loved being in the background of his brother.
It meant he could almost getaway with anything and regularly did. A professional male escort, sleeping round, being a major playing in the L.B.G.T. community, and fancying the tail off Shadow The Hedgehog. But another one of Sukko's favourite things to do, was dressing in Drag and he was insanely good at it. With his Magic, it could authentically recreate the female look, but the secret was to getting the boob-to-bum ratio correct, to look utterly gorgeous, and not topple over.
Sonic found Sukko dressed as a Drag Queen insanely funny, and twice to his knowledge, he'd fooled two completely straight guys to outright believing that he was genuinely female, only to find out, to their horrors, he wasn't. But not only did Sukko love mating, but he adored dating in general. He'd take anyone on a night out, Drag Queen, or not, and was always the life and soul of a party. But he only ever did that in disguise. Normally, as himself, he stayed away from parties, but when he did fancy one, he always dressed up, normally in Drag. His name. Lilly Beau.
It perfected described Sukko as the total dandy he was, in between fighting wars, and working. But Sonic just giggled, letting his brother have his fun, but he was also worried. His friends. Sukko was very intense, and too much for a lot of his narrow minded friends, and that especially included Amy. She'd recently severely upset him, when she openly ranted about hating anyone who swung 'that way', wanting them all gone, as well as recently attacking him. Sukko, normally didn't care about that. The L.B.G.T. community got a lot of abuse, so they just shrugged it off and carried on, but Sonic was very offended.
He adored his brother, and he wasn't going to stand to have his friend treat him like that. If she forced him to choose, between him and his friends, which Sonic would hate, then this brother, always. Sukko had sacrificed more for him then they ever had. So time to really test them, and 'cheat'. Well, sort of. Sonic had been dared several times to, for a laugh, do a full date with Sukko, in all-out Drag.
Up to now, he'd said no, but with Amy upsetting him, he said yes, and wanted it to be publicly known, to his friends as much as possible. Because Sukko was his brother, it wasn't technically 'cheating' but they didn't know that. He wanted to embarrass them, and Sukko was well up for that. So Sonic waited at Tails' House, telling everyone he had a date, and everyone believed it was Amy. Er, no. Sonic got dressed up and he looked good. Soon, his brother turned up as Lilly Beau, and even Sonic's jaw hit the floor, and he knew the truth.
Sukko was stunning, getting it perfect. His quills were tied up in a very high but long ponytail, his boobs were spot-on, he wore a low slung, spilt leg, long silver sparkly dress, over curvy hips, and matching heals. He had a silver shawl, and was all over Sonic, which had been agreed beforehand. Sukko attacked the Blue Blur, while shrieking at the top of his voice, grabbed his cheeks with both hands, and kissed him, with full bright red lipstick, all over his face. The net result left the Hero rather flustered, and insanely gooey, with a stupid cheesy smile, and was a bit of a running in-joke between the twins. They were brothers, they could get away with it, as family. But Sukko had done this to Sonic, in full male, jet black, goth gear, and still got the same reaction. It was very funny.
But oh my Chaos! Today, in full drag, Sukko smelled fantastic, exactly like a real female and Sonic forgot that the Sorcerer was even his brother, as he returned the intimacy, as they both ran out the door and were gone, before anyone could stop them. Amy was both astonished and livid, as she was promptly left in the dust. But they went to a very public bar, and Sonic, in the end, gave the control the Sukko, as the alcohol began to flow. Neither twin were old enough to drink, but that didn't stop the Blue Blur, especially when the tequila landed, which he adored, his absolute favourite.
But the Blue Blur couldn't keep his hands off of the Sorcerer, and even though the twins were close, and tactile anyway, Sukko had to curb Sonic so the hugely fun night, didn't end in mating, which would have upset him, but the kissing was fine. Very public kissing. The following morning, Amy was angry. She tried to find this Lilly Beau, but failed so she retaliated by actually cheating on Sonic with another guy, different to the last one, doing the deed, yet again. She didn't get pregnant, but it caused utter uproar. Her intense obsession of him, was back, and Sonic realised that no amount of Telepathy was going to curb it. But the Blue Blur was stunned, his friends, especially Amy, completely missing the point, until he told them the truth. Yes, his brother was that weird, but it wasn't cheating. Everyone was gobsmacked, and then apologised, but regardless, it left everything very strained again.
But Sonic adored his identical twin brother, but knew, other then Manic, he was the only one who did. Literally everyone else either hated, or couldn't stand him, largely because Sukko always made it that way. He was irritating, condescending, convoluted, controversial, and very eccentric. Gothic and gory. The exact opposite of the Blue Blur, but he made Sonic just giggle. Not what anyone expected, and that was the point. Aside from working as an senior E.R. Doctor, who specialised in trauma, he'd recently made consultant, earning wings to his Rod of Asclepius, the Caduceus, the symbol of consultancy, or specialisms in medicine. But he couldn't decide which field, out of three, to go into, so he did all of them. He was intelligent enough, and Frank, allowed him to. Pathology, Gynaecology, and Surgery. So Sukko became qualified to deliver babies, to cut up someone on a table, and the chop their head off, in the end, after they died.
The Sorcerer loved working both the maternity ward, and the morgue, for completely different reasons, and as for surgery, Frank, his boss, suggested that, suspecting that he'd be very good at it. To get all three fields to consultancy level took a lot of work, and Frank put Sukko through the ringer, but ultimately, the Blue Hedgehog succeeded. Frank smirked, proud. He expected nothing less, then the identical twin of the Hero of Mobius. Giving up was not the Blue Hedgehog way.
Regardless, it didn't stop the antics. Around being a paid Doctor at the hospital, Sukko regularly moonlighted. He didn't need the money, but simply because he enjoyed it. He liked to keep busy. He'd done everything from a professional male escort, to a street Doctor, to nowadays, an opera singer. Sukko's incredible voice had caught the attention of the Mobian Operatic Society, and after being invited for an audition, he was hired on the spot. But Sukko, delighted, said, he could only late work nights, after the hospital, and that was his only offer. If they refused, he'd leave.
As the best singer they has heard in years, the Mobian Operatic Society were desperate not to loose him. Sukko's voice was unique. It range was incredible. It was ten octaves, ranging from a baritone to as high as a soprano and everything in between. Sukko could sing anything, and would randomly burst into song, especially at the main theatre at the Mobian Operatic Society. He did it quite regularly, but only in situations where he was extremely comfortable, such as the hospital, much to Frank's delight. It wasn't a confidence issue. He had the voice for it, mainly doing highly comedic songs. No, it was a matter of being goggled at, which he hated.
Sukko just giggled. Sonic would never do it, anywhere, ever. His singing voice wasn't that bad, not horrendous, just average, which the Sorcerer trounced, but the Blue Blur was just so embarrassed to sing anywhere, that he downright refused to do it. Sonic was all about playing his music, knowing multiple instruments to a professional level, including the piano. He learned it on the quiet, without telling anyone. Sukko knew but frowned, having no idea why. He suspected it was because as the Hero, he didn't want to be seen publicly as boastful, but the Sorcerer just shrugged. Music was Sonic's love, and talent. There was nothing boastful about it, and unfortunately, the Blue Blur didn't believe him, so the ability was left in the dark. Maybe things would change after the war.
Regardless, the Mobian Operatic Society had been struggling financially for years, but their tickets sale exploded when Sukko joined them. But the Sorcerer was much better then realised, when the cheeky Blue Hedgehog stood for a female singer one night, who was ill, and sung her part, in full drag, flawlessly.
In fact, he did it better then her, and the Mobian Operatic Society didn't know at the time that Sukko could sing soprano. They do now as they then lead 'female' singer in the show with him, and had their first runaway hit in years. No one knew, it was drag, which tickled everyone.
Sukko normally loved his privacy, as himself. However, he occasionally adored being the centre of attention, masquerading as someone else. But never as himself. He wore disguises a lot. This wasn't a self confidence issue, is was just he was an intensely private person, which was why he and Shadow got on so well. But Sukko had done some weird, wacky and wonderful things in his time. Including, knocking Eggman out four times. Twice punching him and twice running up his chest and karate kicking him, in the face.
One day, Sonic was out of town in Holoska, and had been for several weeks. They had had trouble in the far north and needed help. But Tails wasn't alone. Sonic's twin brother, his Uncle Sukko, was visiting, on a medical conference in Westopolis, from Robotropolis, after getting back from his honeymoon. He was on a rare day off, on this quiet sunny day. As Tails was happily working in his workshop, Sukko was flat out, fast asleep, on his front, on the sofa, his long, black coat spread everywhere.
Sukko got into the habit of calling Tails, 'Fox', because as a child, with a mutation, Tails very wrongly believed he was a monster. By his uncle simply calling him that nickname, which was what he was, it felt normal, and it helped hugely. So therefore the name just stuck.
Suddenly, Rouge and Blaze, burst in through the front door, screaming for Tails, but more specifically Sonic. Tails, comes running, greeting them in the lounge. He gulped.
"Hey, what's up?" He wondered, but Rouge rounded on him.
"Several thousand miles away from here, an Eggman battle had just been dealt with, but it has left the local dam damaged. It was threatening to burst, flooding the entire area, and killings thousands. Shadow, Knuckles, Amy and Silver, were helping as much as they could to get people out, Silver holding back the dam with Psychokinesis, as best as he could. They desperately needed Sonic, as he was the only one fast enough to get everyone out in time." She stammered, but Sonic gulped.
"Er, but Sonic isn't here. He's in the far north, helping out. But he'll never make it, all the way from Holoska, to the dam, in time, before it burst." He panicked. But Blaze's eyes fell on someone else. He had a air of familiarity about him, but they had yet to formally meet. Tails noticed but immediately shook his head.
"Oh no. Not Uncle Sukko." He pleaded. But Rouge frowned.
"Uncle?" She questions, the Sorcerer's constant memory wipes casts of himself, on her, working perfectly. Tails nodded.
"Yeah, Sonic's brother, but he'll be annoying as hell." He squealed, the girls eyes's widened, but seeing their desperation, Tails heaved, and looked towards his Uncle. If this was anything other then an absolute emergency, he'd leave his uncle well alone. But Sukko was awkward and irritating as heck, and despite the fact Tails loved his uncle to bits, he drove the Fox bonkers. Though just waking him, in the first place, was a challenge. But with Sukko, being a Sorcerer, and the fact that he used Magic, and it's resulting drain, slept extremely deeply. So deep, in fact, that he was almost impossible to wake. Unless you were Sonic, who could always wake him up. Tails, jumped on him, shook him, screamed at him. Nothing. The girls just stared.
Suddenly, he remembered. The family whistle. He tried several times, failed, but not giving up, he finally let one rip. The loud, intense noise, finally awoke the mighty Sorcerer with a start. He squealed, extremely groggy.
"Whoa! Who, where, what...?" He puzzled, as he blinked at the Fox who went for him, grabbing the collaring of his coat and pulling him up. He squealed.
"Come on, Uncle Sukko, we gotta go. People are in danger, a dam is about to burst." He panted, but the Sorcerer just blew bubbles at him, rubbing his eyes and running his fingers through his head quills.
"But that requires moving!" He groaned, perfectly illustrating his extremely opposite nature to the Blue Blur, as he desperately wanted to go back to sleep. But Tails held him firm, shaking his head.
"Hell, no, come on." He insisted, as he physically pulled, a very wobbly Sukko, to his feet, and shoved him out the door, as asked the rather bemused girls to physically drag the Blue Hedgehog to where he needed to be. Tails ran back into the house, to grab a flask, as Sukko just exploded.
He whined and complained, mainly about excessive expenditure of calories. But by the time, they made it, Tails was on the verge of ripping his own fur out over his Uncle, and the sheer lack of get-up and go. This was simple the fact that the Sorcerer just wasn't awake yet. Suddenly, everyone ran for their lives as the dam burst.
But Sukko just smirked, as he walked towards the rushing water, and with an almighty surge of power, he explodes his Telekinesis, and expands it out for miles, creating a huge shield, stopping the water in his tracks, allowing it to build up behind it. The Sorcerer then slowly trudged forwards, pushes the water backwards, with incredible power, his Telekinesis going crazy, repairing everything along the way.
Back up the hill, Sukko surged thousands of tonnes of rushing water, to back behind the dam. When he reached it, he took to skies, activating his Super-Flight, as he expertly repaired the dam, as he rose up in front of it, pushing the water behind it, and as he landed on top, as the repair finished, of which Sukko then just stamped his foot on the top, causing the entire dam to shake, as an huge magical seal slivered and swept across it, his mighty dragon became burned onto the front. This dam was never going to break again. Tails and the others came running up, gobsmacked, their jaw, very much on the floor, but the Fox was giggling.
He knew Sukko could do that. But the Sorcerer was swaying on his feet, as the Fox grabbed him, as he floated down. He yawned, as Tails offered him the flask.
"Tea!" He smiled. Sukko grinned, grabbing the Fox, and kissing him all over his face, making him go scarlet. The Sorcerer grinned.
"I love you." He sniggered, as he grabbed the flask, downs it in one, as the Fox, shoved everyone aside, and pushes Sukko back to his house. But Sorcerer sneakingly casts a memory wipe cast, so no one would even recall him being there. Once at the house, Tails shoved his uncle inside, and back to sleep on the sofa. The Sorcerer collapsed, fast gone. Tails giggled. He knew Sukko wouldn't even remember, in the morning, the fact that he'd just saved thousands of lives today. He just did it. No credit, not hassle, nothing. That was why he loved his Uncle.
But the Fox severely underestimated the Sorcerer, not noticing the memory cast. Him definitely not wanting be remembered by anyone, outside of family. There was greater plans afoot, as the Magic must never be known.
Sometime later, the bond between the Blue Hedgehog twins would be put to the test. It was written on a wall.
'It is foretold among the Babylons of old, of the ultimate treasure for the mightiest Hero. For him and him alone. When he was ready, he could come forth and claim his prize.'
For thousands of years, this story was told, the wall mural of said prophesy on a long forgotten temple on Mobius. In a elaborate courtyard, back when the Babylons, used to live there, before they were forced to leave. Jet of the Babylon Rogues, was desperately trying to get himself his hands on that treasure, believing it to be bestowed with magical powers that would grant equal status with Sonic the Hedgehog.
Neither Wave nor Storm, his teammates, believed him, but Jet was so persistent, that he dragged the three of them, plus the Babylon Gardens to the ancient temple to see the mural for himself. But when he got there, his jaw just dropped. There was the mighty Hero being worshiped by the Babylons, and handprint depression in the wall, which actually concealed a door, to the treasure, and the handprint was the lock. Jet tried everything.
Nothing.
His handprint didn't work, no one's did, and forcing the door open also did nothing. It was heavily re-enforced. Only searching the wall, had the answers. Who was the hero, and could they bring him here, and then steal the treasure from him. The Hero wasn't a Babylon native, hence the door did nothing for them. On closer inspection, it appeared to be a Hedgehog. A certain Blue Hedgehog.
Jet growled, but Wave wasn't that surprised. Outside of extreme gear racing, Sonic was a real hero. It did make sense, but now she was very curious herself. But how to get the Blue Blur here. Jet knew exactly how. Setting up a breadcrumb trail for them to follow them. Wave dropped a missive hint to Tails, which got Knuckles interested and soon they had dragged Sonic to the temple in question. Tails was fascinated, but Sonic was very unconvinced.
"An super old prophesy about me specifically, that's highly unlikely." He wondered, but Tails just shrugged.
"You don't know that for sure, Sonic, plus there is no harm in looking." He pleaded, until the Blue Blur eventually agreed.
After much searching, soon they found the mural, the hero looking uncannily like Sonic. Now the Blue Blur were intrigued, but when his put his hand in the handprint, all eyes watching including the Babylon Rogues, which had followed them, and were now in hiding. Nothing happened. Tails frowned, scanning the ruins with his handheld.
"Ok, that's weird." He heaved. "But the mural looked so much like you." He gulped. But Sonic growled, getting annoyed.
"I told you, it's 'not' about me." He insisted. But the Echidna, who went with them just smirked.
"Maybe, this will work." He wondered, as Knuckles's attempted to break the door. It did nothing. Soon they gave up and went home. Jet just got frustrated, as he ran for the door. He glared at it.
"Hey, I'm the real Hero, not that Blue Hedgehog. I'm the one who deserves the treasure." He heaved, pleading with the door to open, but no. Soon, he'd also given up and left. He never went back there again.
But Sonic had noticed something about the mural, that no one else did. A large section of the wall mural had been damaged and was missing. But the way the hero was depicted in the wall, heavily suggested that there in fact a second person, also worshiped, but whose imagery was now no longer there.
He frowned. Why? There was two Heroes, not one, which meant only one thing. Twins. Brothers. Also the handprint seemed a little large for just one hand, but perfect for one hand on top of another. Both heroes were needed to open the door. Upon realising the door wouldn't open for him alone, and what the wall actually showed, he panicked, but he knew was being tailed, so he said nothing.
He was one of twins, and as soon as he was alone, he ran to find Sukko, squealing down the Psychic Link. The twins had yet to the find the limit of their incredible connection, and could be heard anywhere on the planet, and even on the Ark. But Sonic gulped.
{Sukko, where are you?} He asked, but the Sorcerer frowned.
{At home, why?} He responded, but the Blue Blur stammered.
{I think our existence and exploits have been foretold, I seen it written in a mural.} He sniffed. Sukko deeply frowned, and feeling his brother's fear, he immediately took action.
{Show me.} He ordered, as he came to see the wall, for himself, perfectly orbing in. Sonic met him there, on a beautiful clear night, a stunning full moon, in the star filled sky, his long black coat, flapping int the wind. They hugged, as the Blue Blur dragged his twin, alone, to view the wall. Sonic was right, the mural did indeed show two heroes. Sukko was fascinated, but not at the treasure within but with the mural itself, trying to work out what the missing sections could possibly show, and why the depiction of second hero had been torn from the wall. But the Sorcerer frowned.
"The damage here was no accident, it had been vandalised." He growled. "But whomever did it, seemed to have missed the point of the mural. It looks as though it was done out of fear." He added, somehow reading deeper into it, then anyone else. Watching his twin closely, Sonic tried the handprint. Nothing. But Sukko frowned, as he placed his hand over the on top of his twin brother's. The slightly large depression, a perfect fit. But still no response.
But then the mighty Sorcerer understood. He gasped and hard, backing away, removing his hand from the wall.
"Magic." He spat, desperately looking around the mural. "The wall, it is indeed about us. But how, and who saw us coming? These are old depictions. But I now know why the second hero had been destroyed from the wall. He's me, the Sorcerer. Whether I'm helping you, here, in the mural, or hindering, I have no idea, but the fact that I have Magic, and the intense fear of it, was enough to vandalise the wall." He heaved, but Sonic growled.
"Hey, that's not fair. They don't know you." He defended. But Sukko sighed.
"No, it's not, but I suspect the door needs, the both of us and Magic, to open." He hissed, but Sonic frowned, his hand still on the door.
"I wonder what's inside?" He gulped, but the Sorcerer smirked, as he returned his hand to the door, a top of his brothers. "Shall we find out together." He asked. Smiling hard, Sonic nodded as Sukko took his twin's other hands, and flowed the Magic through the both of them, causing their eyes to glow blue, and into the door.
After several minutes of intense casting, finally, it opened. The door swinging silently inwards, entirely on their own, into a darkened room. Both the twins gulped, as they went inside, to find, nothing. Just a large basin filled with water, so still, it was a perfect mirror, reflecting off the moon light above. Sonic frowned.
"Ok, I don't understand." He stammered, looking around. Aside from the basin, in the centre of the small room, there was literally nothing else. The doors took up one whole side of the room, there was no windows, and on the wall opposite was the actual prophesy itself, written it large letters. The Sorcerer looks deeply at it, and then back into the basin, and exploded into the biggest smile ever. He beamed.
"Sonikku. Your not the only hero to ever grace this planet, and you certainly won't be the last." He asked. But the Blue Blur shook his head.
"No. Why do you ask?" He wondered. But Sukko heaved, looking back to the writing.
"In the stories of old, of the heroes of the past, can you remember anything in common amongst them, aside from them being the good guys?" He smirked. Sonic frowned, desperately thinking as he looked in the basin.
"Er, well. They all had their bands of followers, and groups of friends, that fought along side them." He summated. He smiled, even he had that. "And some were lucky enough to find a mate and breed. But it was incredibly dangerous to do, as any partners or resulting children were often hunted down and killed, so many didn't bother, to die on their own." He heaved. But Sukko just looked at his twin, indicating with his head, the perfectly reflective water. Sonic was confused but Sukko just grinned, and deeply cuddled his twin. The Sorcerer grinned.
"Any siblings?" He sarcastically wondered. Sonic frowned, shaking his head.
"Er, no, never. They always fought alone."
After a moment's silence, staring at his twin, finally, the penny dropped, as Sonic, suddenly, outright gasped, as he let go of Sukko, and put his hand over his mouth. He looked at the prophesy written on the wall, then to the basin and finally, back at his brother. He cried, the tears actually streaming, feeling deeply honoured, and incredibly privileged. He dived for the Sorcerer, practically winding him, for the world's greatest embrace. Sukko beamed, very proud.
The ultimate treasure for the mightiest Hero, just for him.
Family.
But as the twins left together, going home, the doors closed behind them, forever sealing away, looking identical as before. They never revealed again, the truth behind the wall.
