Ares couldn't stop thinking about Percy and everything surrounding the young demigoddess. He honestly didn't know how to feel. The fact that she is his soulmate is complicated enough, he has always wondered if he would be lucky enough to get a soulmate, he was giving up hope on it ever happening. He cares for her, yes, love he probably does, he probably loved her for a great deal of time but he just couldn't put it into words on how he was feeling especially considering that he was still bitter that she defeated him in a fight at twelve. Although the fact that it was his soulmate that defeated him makes it better. He knew that he was a jerk to her but what else could he do. Gosh what else could he do not be a complete and utter prick to her that's what he could have done. He truly was an idiot. You know for being a god he truly was rather stupid. Percy has clearly been traumatised by what has happened to her and he knows she will need a great deal of help when it comes to healing. She has been through some hell and he didn't want to make it worse but what could he do.
"You should talk to her," an angelic voice said from behind him, a voice he knew all too well. As he turned around he was met with the sight of his mother practically gliding towards him.
"mother ," he said nodding in acknowledgement to his mother's presence, "what do you mean?"
"You should talk to her."
"Who?"
"You know exactly who. Talk to percy"
"Why?"
"Son," she huffed, rubbing her temples, "you can be as stupid as you father and uncles sometimes, do you truly believe that I don't know that she is your soulmate? I am your mother, you can't hide anything from me."
Ares' eyes grew wide, his mother knew. She knew. So how many else knew.
"I can't"
"And why not?"
"What would i even say,hey jackson it me ares by the way you are my soulmate, yeah the guy who has been an absolute prick to you is your soulmate." he said sarcastically.
"Well at least you admit you have been a prick to her one point up from your father, he can't ever admit he's wrong. What I'm saying is just have a talk with her. She has been through some hell and it will do her some good to have a conversation with someone who isn't her father or Apollo."
Ares thought for a moment perhaps his mother was right. Perhaps he should talk to her. "Ok,"
"Good, and son don't ever lie to me about something like this,"she said before walking away.
The God of war did as he was told and walked over to the infirmary where Percy Jackson was residing, there was a debate as to whether she would permanently stay there or if she would go back to the camp, back to her mother or hell live in Atlantis with her father but ultimately they all knew that percy was the one who had to make the decision granted, none of them wanted her really to go back to camp or where her mother was in the mortal world. It was still far too dangerous, but if that's what percy wanted, they couldn't keep her here, they all Learnt that regardless of what they wanted, if Percy Jackson wanted to do something else she would do of what they said. He pushed open the door to the infirmary and saw a Vast array of curtains, separating each of the beds, he walked over to the closest one, which was where Percy Jackson was sitting there, simply playing with her hands, they were draped on her lap and she was simply staring at them, fiddling her fingers like there was a small little toy or face was covered in tears, although none were falling from her face. It seemed she'd only been crying a few moments previous. The sight left Ares feeling anger, dread and sadness, he never noticed it before, but he hated it when Percy got sad, especially to the point of crying, it was hard for Percy to cry in front of other people that he knew thought no one at camp had ever really seen her. Unless it was the daughter of Athena annabeth.
"Hey Jackson," he said, causing the young Demi goddess to look up at him with her red blotchy eyes
"Aries," she said, "what can I do for you?" Her lip quivered a little as if with a slight hint of fear.
I wanted to see if you wanted some company" #
"That'll Be fine" She patted the area of the bed that was furthest away from her towards her feet and pulled her legs towards her chest as if trying to make as much space between them as possible, but also trying to be as welcoming as possible to the God in front of her recognised this sort of movement Percy, so much resembled a prisoner of war who had just been brought back home, he had seen many people who had suffered Because of wars, especially if they were captured and then somehow brought home, he was the God of war after all.
"How are you feeling?"He ask trying to make the conversation is normal as possible
"I don't know", she said looking back down at her hands.
The pair sat there for about an hour. Percy was barely talking. Her answers were short and fast. When Percy mentioned to Ares that Eros had visited her he had a bad feeling. Why was Eros visiting her? Does he know? Of course he would know but would he tell her?
