Percy felt herself running, running in a city, a city that looked as though it was crumbling down to the ground. A city that looked so familiar that it made her heart ache. Her footsteps were heavy as she felt the weight of every weapon that she had been carrying crush her small frame. Then she heard it. The sound of blood-curdling screams, but it wasn't just one voice. There were several voices that sounded so young that they couldn't have been adults yet. But then there were some older voices. Not old adults but younger perhaps closer to her age. There was one thing that was certain, not a single one of the voices was over the age of 23. She ran faster trying to catch up to the voices hearing thunderous roars and battle cries rattling through her ears. Next thing she knew her feet were sopping wet. She paused in her movements, no longer hearing the battle cries nor the screams. Her eyes were scanning around everything, every building, every window, every single lamp post, every bloody bin, every single thing around them. She tried to find someone. It didn't matter who, but it had to be someone that just had to be. When not a hide nor hair of anyone appeared, she looked down towards her feet not to find Water but red hot blood, an enormous river of it, caking her bare feet.
Trembling she followed it, her fingers trembling from fear. Then she saw something that made her heart break, along the floor with several dead bodies but not dead bodies of random people. No, there was something familiar about all of these bodies. They were all young and they all wore either orange camp half blood t-shirts or purple camp Jupiter t-shirts. They were all campers, friends she had made growing up slaughtered like livestock. She walked over looking at each of their seeping down her she heard it, a slight whimper of a voice. It was annabeth. Many other notable faces were around her the seven Luke Castellan, Ethan Nakamura, Charles,Bianca di angelo,Nico di angelo, Clarice larue, Travis and Connor stoll. All of her closest friends lay there covered in their own blood barely alive. It was Annabeth who had made the noise Percy had run over to her. Her knees hitting floor hoping her friend was still alive
"This is your fault" she croaked
"I'm sorry.I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen."Cried percy
"You did this to us"
"To all of us"
"It's your fault we all died so young".
All of them one after another began saying things like that
"I'm sorry I didn't mean for any of this to happen."Hearing Percy's closest friends blame her for their deaths, felt like bricks being slammed into her chest. They weren't wrong though it was her fault that they had all died so young, it was her fault.
As she shook them all trying to hope that they were all still alive she felt herself falling with the voices of all of those who had died Blaming her for every bad thing and the sad part was, it was all truth.
Percy woke up, her eyes streaming with tears. She'd had another nightmare. She thought they had stopped but clearly they hadn't. She wiped her eyes and saw at the foot of her bed was the man standing there. Percy scurried backwards her back hitting the headboard as she looked at him eyes wide.
"Well , it seems that you little princess had quite the dream last night"He taunted
"Why are you here?"Asked Percy, getting straight to the point hoping that if she answered his question quickly , he would leave.
"Well, considering you asked so nicely."Said the man in a mockingtone, "I am here with your next task."
"My next task"
"Yes, little princess and it seems for this task I will be accompanying you."
"What does that mean?"
"It means we will be taking a visit to the mortal world." Percy's heart were going to the mortal world or more accurately the world she grew up, the place where she could get help.
"But you need to listen very carefully Princess, can you do that?"He asked, reaching over, lifting his hand towards her chin.
"Yes"
"Good I see you are learning. Rule one You are not to interact with anyone. Number 2, you are not allowed to stray from where I am until you are told otherwise there will be consequences."
"What is this trial"
"Oh I am so glad you asked. I am going to give you an opportunity, you will call one of your friends from camp Half blood or Jupiter. The choice is yours, to find you."
Percy nodded her mind already knowing exactly who she was going to call.
"Next I will take you to an area and you will be given a five minute head start if you can Not get caught by me until your friend finds you are free to , if I catch you , then you will return here with me. When the chase begins, you are not allowed to interact with are not allowed to make a scene that will alert any of the are you allowed to leave any sort of messages for your friend. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
The man smiled clearly, happy at Percy's obedience towards his words. "Good now, princess I would change if it were you. We won't want you running around in a nightgown now , would we."
He flicked his hands towards the little bedside table where a simple little Light blue dress that would fit in with the mortal crowd, but still had the ancient elements as part of it sat folded up. Quickly Percy grabbed it and went into the bathroom to change it was light blue and fell just mid way down her calves. It had a golden waistband along with some gold threaded details on the chest plate. It was simple. Percy liked it. If it weren't for the circumstances, she most likely would have picked this up at some sort of store if she had found it. She knew this dress would suit well, especially if she was to spend time at the atlantean court again. It definitely looked rather simple but also looked rather elegant as well.
The Chance to get free was something. Percy wasn't going to miss out on. So she was going to behave and do as she was told, she was not going to disobey any of his rules and trust that her friend will be able to help her. She just had to choose the right one.
Once Percy had done , the man had Done the same thing as when he had kidnapped her, she woke up and she was standing inside a shopping .A place filled with loads of people ,which would make it near impossible for her to run around without drawing attention. They came to a simple phone on the wall to which the man, still wearing his mask but Percy at this point knew that it was the mist that was making him look like an ordinary person to all the mortals.
"Go on, princess, call your friend."
Percy picked up the phone and dialed each number carefully.
"Hello"came a feminine voice from the other end
"Hey annabeth"
"Percy!" Yelled Annabeth from the other end of the line."Are you ok everyone is looking for you?"
"Yeah, I'm…I'm fine for now , but listen , I'm at the mall that we visited that one time when we visited the mortal world."percy knew what mall it was the moment she saw the little play area in the middle of the place. "It's not that far from to me, the only way for me to get free is if you find me here it's a test."
Annabeth knew what had gone on from what the Olympians had all said and she knew that this test was probably Percy's only way of getting free so she didn't hesitate to agree and She flashed to the mall and began walking trying to find her young friend.
"Your time starts now Princess" the man said with a sick grin on his face. "Remember the rules." Percy began walking as fast as she could, without drawing any attention weaving in and out of people she knew she'd have to get in view of as many cameras as humanly was the only way for Annabeth to find her.
Annabeth walked around the entire mall for ages, hoping to catch a glimpse of her young friend. When she didn't she went straight to the security office which thankfully had been unguarded. It seems that they had gone on their lunch break. She flipped through all of the security tapes and found Percy and almost every single one. She began looking through them hoping to trace where her friend was knowing this was their only chance of getting at home.
