The Keychain's Power
June 20, Keyblade Village
J arrives back in Keyblade Village and thinks to herself 'I have to save Jaden, no matter what! It's his life on the line! What in the world happened in that room yesterday?'
She then heads to the side room first.
June 20, Yuki Manor, Side Room
J enters and sees Sumire was in the room again, the red haired girl sees her and smiles saying "Oh hey! You're that drone from yesterday…The, um, psychologist drone…"
"No, no, I'm a lawyer." J said shaking her head.
"Oh that's right! Sorry. Um….Miss. B, right." Sumire said thinking.
"No, it's not B it's J." J said shaking her head.
"'B', 'J'…Well, least I got the same number of sounding letters." Sumire said rubbing her head.
'I am not sure if she gets the point...' J thinks rolling her eyes and then asked "Anyway, why are you here?"
"Okay, I study this thing called 'parapsychology' at this college and…" Sumire began to explain.
"Um, you told me about that yesterday. The sesame allergy, too." J tells her. "What I'd really like to know is why you're still here today."
"Oh! So that's what you meant! You should have been more clear about it." Sumire said to that.
"S-Sorry. My bad." J said.
"No, it's okay. Like, it's really…" Sumire said then pauses stopping mid-sentence.
"…That's it?" J said when Sumire doesn't continue talking "Why'd you stop mid-sentence?!"
"Oh did I? What was I talking about again…?" Sumire asked confused.
J stares in disbelief and thinks 'If Todd ever wanted another 'genuine mysterious phenomenon', it's right here.' She then asked "So? Why are you still here today?"
"Well, there's so much for me to study here!" Sumire said smiling
"Like what?" J asked her.
"Like, the keyblade warrior's training, or how they pass down their spiritual power." Sumire explained.
'I suppose…This village is the real thing, after all.' J thinks nodding understanding.
"So, I asked if I could stay here for a little longer." Sumire explained.
'She sure seems like the care-free intelligent type, at least, on the surface…' J thinks and then asked, "Have you heard about the murder?"
"It's like really scary." Sumire admits with a smile.
'…she says, with a silly smile plastered on her face…' J thinks on that deadpanned and asked "…So do you know anything about it that might help?" Sumire however remains silent and she thinks 'Somehow, I don't think she has a grip on reality, let alone what's going on here.' J changes subject and asked "About the victim, Dr. Strange…"
"I don't know who you're talking about." Sumire said immediately. "In fact…I think you asked about him yesterday, too…"
'That's right…Her reaction yesterday when I asked was…' j thinks and flashback to yesterday
"You and Dr. Strange knew each other, right?" Past J asked Past Sumire.
Past Sumire in a panic, fiddles with her glasses and composes saying quickly "I don't know any Dr. Strange!"
"Oh really…?" Past J said surprised at that "Then what was all that talk about him earlier?"
"Huh?! …Well, uh…" Past Sumire said more panicked "Well, a long, long time ago…I was like, a patient, yeah."
Back in the present J thinks 'Okay, she is definitely hiding something from me…'
"Um, is something wrong?" Sumire asked her.
J looks around the room and sees a box in the room that wasn't here yesterday "Hmm, now where did this box come from? I'm sure this wasn't here last night. It looks like a box for storing clothes…But it's pretty big for just clothes…"
She looks inside it and said "It's mostly empty, but a few folded pieces of channelling costumes and armour pieces sit at the bottom." Seeing nothing else J heads to the channeling chamber.
June 20, Yuki Manor, Channeling Chamber
J looks around and finds the room mostly empty and says "It looks like Detective N isn't here today…I should take this chance and thoroughly check this room. If I'm luckly, I might uncover a clue or two…"
"Oh, Miss. J." Xehanort said sipping some tea as he is revealed to be in the room.
"Good morning." J said to him.
"I am on my way to go meet Master Jaden, and I thought to bring him some items to make him feel more at home." Xehanort said sighing. "Namely, tea so bitter you lose your tongue and jaw-droppingly large strawberry desserts."
"I'm sure Jaden will be very grateful…" J said nodding.
"That's 'Master Jaden', good madam!" Xehanort said with a sherious look on his face.
'Urk. He is one scary man.' J eeps at that.
"Oh, dear, sweet Master Jaden…" Xehanort said sadly "Kairi wept constantly for you last night, as did I."
'I know it's important for me to search the site, but I should ask him some questions too, while I have the chance…' J thinks on it and asked, "I would like to ask you a few questions about what happened yesterday."
"Do you mean that awful tragedy?" Xehanort asked her.
We then flash back and see the seemingly possessed Jaden say in a female voice "That man…murdered me…so I killed…him…"
"J-Jaden?" Past J asked concerned and scared
"Step away from there!" Past Xehanort said coming into the room his No Name keyblade ready "Please leave this area to me. Go quickly and inform the police!"
We return to the present and J asked Xehanort "What happened in this room after I left?"
"Well…" Xehanort said and sips his tea before starting "First, I struck Master Jaden on the head with the blunt end of my Keyblade."
"To make him go unconscious, correct?" J asked.
"That is correct." Xehanort said nodding. "Next, I performed the Spirit Severing Technique."
"'Spirit Severing Technique'?" J asked thinking.
"The spirit of that nurse was inside of Master Jaden's body. I used the technique to sever the temporary bonds and send the nurse's spirit back to the other world." Xehanort explained.
'I wonder if this kind of testimony is even admissible in a court of law…' J thinks and then asked "By the way, what is this room exactly…?"
"The Channeling Chamber?" Xehanort asked then said then sighs sadly "This room was created for the sole purpose of preventing such a tragedy as yesterday."
"What do you mean?" J asked.
"Sometimes, when an inexperienced keyblade warrior calls an especially strong spirit, that spirit may become violent and revolt, as you witnessed yesterday." Xehanort explained.
"Revolt? But how?" J asked confused
"When a spirit enters a warrior's body, they lose their will and their self steps aside. To put it another way, the spirit is borrowing the warrior's body, good madam." Xehanort said.
"But isn't that extremely dangerous?" J asked concerned.
"An experienced keyblade warrior has little problem controlling a spirit." Xehanort explained.
"But Jaden…I mean, Master jaden…That was his first channeling…" J points out.
"And that was why I insisted on locking the door." Xehanort said sadly. "However, I never thought that would be calling danger upon the client himself…I am grateful that one of our heirlooms was not damaged in this horrible incident."
"And that would be…?" J asked curious.
"The folding screen there." Xehanort said pointing to it in the back of the room "It is Keyblade Sacred Writings. Along with the Keyblade Scared Urn, they are the village's most treasured possessions. If I ever found out that something had happened to either one…" He gets sad "Oh the humanity…"
'Odd for him to be worrying about the folding screen at a time like this…I guess this isn't just some dilapidated old screen after all…' J thinks on it. She then asked "So…How is Kairi today…?"
"Miss. J." Xehanort said looking at her and sips his tea
"Y-Yes?" J asked nervous.
"In this world, Kairi is my most treasured possession. When compared to even Master Jaden, Kairi has the spiritual power to become a true Master." Xehanort explained.
"Th-That's very impressive." J said still nervous.
Xehanort sighs and said "Until now, the members of the branch family have thought themselves to be inferior." He then looks serious "But. Kairi is different! Her spiritual strength is so great, it's even greater than some of the main family! Yes, Kairi is a channeling prodigy and is the pride of the branch family!"
'Wow…He's really fired up now…' J thinks on that.
"In any case…" Xehanort said calming down and sips his tea "Our world is so different from yours, perhaps it is best for you to quit, good madam."
"'Quit'? Quit what?" J asked confused but Xehanort remains quiet. J then checks the folding screen "It's a beautiful and expensive folding screen. It also looks quite old. There seems to be some sort of scared text written on it, but I can't read it."
She then notices something off and said "Th-This is…" She sees near the bottom of the screen a small hole "It's a hole! Could this have been made by a bullet?" She adds the Folding Screen to her wrist device for the Court Record.
"Well then, I do believe it is time for me to take my leave." Xehanort said smiling
"Alright. Please tell Jaden I said hi." J said with a nod.
"What that that?!" Xehanort said looking serious with a glare.
"Uh, I mean, Master Jaden." J said sweat dropping.
"I will tell him." Xehanort said with a smile and leaves the room
J mentally sighs and leaves the room to explore the manor.
June 20, Yuki Manor, Winding Way
J looks around and once again comes across Kairi which makes her jump "Ack! Y-You surprised me!" Kairi just stares at her. "And how are you today?" Kairi says nothing and just stares 'Hmmm…I guess she isn't open to friendly chatting…' She notices Kairi was again holding something 'Huh? She's still holding something in her hand…It looks like the same thing she had yesterday…'
Thinking talking to her will make her runoff J decides to pull out the Logic Solver Keychain and presents it to Kairi saying "Oh yeah. Jaden said to give this to you…" Kairi looks at it after taking it from J then she starts crying. 'Ack! I'm in trouble now! If Xehanort sees us like this, I'll be the next one they're channeling…' J thinks worried
"Th-That's….That's Master Jaden's…" Kairi cries out speaking for the first time.
"…Huh?!" J said shocked and thinks 'Sh-She actually spoke!'
"Who are you…?" Kairi asked him.
"I-I'm Serial Designation J. I, uh, worked with Jaden…" J said to her.
"…Y-You worked with Master Jaden…?" Kairi asked her "You…You're Miss. J, right?"
"…Uh, excuse me?" J said 'I bet I know who told her all about me…'
"I know who you are. You're…You're Master Jaden's…" Kairi said to her she then gets bashful as she finishes saying "'special someone'…"
"WH-WH-WH-WHAT?!" J said with a blush marks appearing on her LED screen upon hearing that.
"So then…Of course!" Kairi said looking determined. "You're going to help Master Jaden, aren't you? That's what you're going to do, right?"
"W-Well, yeah…I will…" J said recovering from the shock.
"Oh wow…It's like a beautiful fairy tale!" Kairi said with a happy smile. "That earnest look shining brightly in your LED eyes…It must be true love…"
"…Wh-What?!" J said shocked getting flustered again. 'Why am I being boiled into a bright red metal lobster by this little kid?!'
"I'm so jealous of Master Jaden!" Kairi said smiling. "Ah, what a wonderful relationship…"
"W-wait…I…uhh…I mean…We aren't…Things aren't like…" J said struggling to form a sentence.
"Hee, hee, I can tell you're a good person." Kairi said happily "Alright, Miss. J! I may be small, but I'm going to help you in any way I can!"
"Kairi, are you friends with Jaden?" J asked her.
"I feel very grateful to be friends with him…He's so great." Kairi tells her. "I want to be like Master Jaden when I grow up. I really look up to him."
"Wow, I had no idea Jaden was so…revered." J said amazed.
"Usually when people don't you Master Jaden's title, I get mad." Kairi tells her
"O-Oh, sorry." J said to that.
"But if it's you, Miss. J, then it's okay." Kairi added smiling. "Because…Because you're 'special' to him."
'Where in the world did, she get an idea like that?' J thinks flustered.
"By the way…this may be rude, but which channeling school are you from?" Kairi asked her.
"Which channeling school?" J asked confused.
"Yes. For example, I study the Keyblade technique." Kairi explained.
J thinks then realizes what she means "Ah, I get it! No, no, no. I'm a lawyer. A lawyer."
"…Law…yer?" Kairi said confused.
"Yup." J said with a nod
"…Is that related to Keyblade Warriors in any way…?" Kairi asked her.
'Um…None that I know of…' J thinks then said "Wait, are you telling me you don't know what a lawyer is?"
"I'm sorry, but I have no idea." Kairi said looking down sadly.
'Jaden did say Kairi doesn't know much about the outside world…' J thinks on it. She then asked "So what's that you got there, Kairi?" she points to the thing in her hand.
"Oh, this? I found it yesterday." Kairi said showing the black key.
"Hmm…" J said looking at it.
"If you want it, I can give it to you." Kairi said smiling
"Arlight, well, if you really want to give it to me…" J said accepting it.
"Hee hee. You look like a child at a toy store, Miss. J!" Kairi said giggling.
'…She not only speaks in a refined manner, but laughs in one, too!' J thinks as she adds Black Key was added to the Court Record.
"Um, Miss. J…?" Kairi said after thinking.
"Yes, Karin? I can call you that, right? You're too cute to just call you Kairi." J said thinking.
"Sure, Miss. J…Umm…Are you sure it's okay for me to have this keychain?" Kairi said holding up the Logic Solver keychain.
"Yeah, it's oaky. I was told to give it to you." J said with a nod.
Kairi gasps and said "But I can't accept something like this!... All I really should do is charge this Keychain with spiritual energy…"
"Spiritual energy?" J asked confused.
But just then Kairi concentrate and channels some light into the Logic Solver Keychain and when the light dies down the keychain was no glowing with energy. She then hands it over to J "Please take this. I'm sure it will be helpful."
"…What do you mean?" J asked taking it looking confused. Suddenly it turns into a Keyblade the guard is circular with yellow and black stripes, similar to how certain parts of Disassembly Drones like her are painted. The shaft is shaped like the Disassembly Drones' swords hands. With the teeth, shaped like the bladed feathers of the Disassembly Drones' wings, with the top one being the longest and the next two down each being shorter than the last.
"It will grant you the ability to wield the Keyblade Logic Solver which will let you see people's secrets" Kairi explained.
"See people's…secrets…?" J said amazed looking at the Keyblade.
"Yes." Kairi said nodding. She gets nervous and said "…If it's alright with you, I would like to accompany you for a little while. I can explain the Keyblade's power to you when we meet someone hiding a secret."
J nods having an idea on someone hiding a secret as the keyblade is de-summoned and heads with Kairi to see Sumire in the Side Room.
June 20, Yuki Manor, Side Room
J walks in with Kairi and sees Sumire was still here and said "Hello again. We seem to be seeing a lot of each other today."
"Aww, she's so cute!" Sumire said with a smile looking at Kairi "Is she your adopted daughter?"
"W-What?! NO!" J said in shock 'How old do you think I look?!' She then asked "I want to ask you about the victim, Dr. Strange."
"I like, don't really know him." Sumire said rubbing her head.
Just then J feels an intense feeling, the Logic Solver Keychain shines in her check pocket as the world around her darkens around her, Kairi and Sumire. Chains appear in around Sure and a lock appears slamming in the chains binding them in place.
"Aaaack! What is that?!" J said in shock. Sumire looks at him confused at his reaction.
"You can see it, can't you, Miss. J?" Kairi asked her "You can see the 'lock' on that person's heart."
"Huh, what…?" J asked looking at Kairi
"This is the power of the Logic Solver Keyblade." Kairi explained. "Only you can see these 'Psyche-Locks', Miss. J."
'Psyche-Locks, huh…' J thinks on it
"The more someone wants to hide their secret, the more locks you will see." Kairi explained. "If it's only one, I think you can easily unlock it.
"'Unlock'…? But how?" J asked confused. The darkness fades and returns to normal.
"Please use Master Jaden's Logic Solver Keychain on this person, and let's remove the lock." Kairi explained looking serious.
'I have no idea what she's talking about, but…Guess I'll give it a try.' J thinks pulling out the keychain
"You must be careful, though, Miss. J. If you make a mistake, it will hurt you." Kairi added concerned. "If you don't think you have the proof you need, you must have the courage to stop."
'Well, I've got to start somewhere. Let's give this Psyche-Lock thing a try.' J thinks on it and knows she doesn't have evidence yet to prove Sumire knows the victim so leaves the room with Kairi.
June 20, Yuki Manor, Meditation Room
As J and Kairi enter the room, they encounter Detective N who waves seeing them and said "Hey, it's you, buddy! So you're going to be his lawyer, I bet."
"Yes." J said with a nod.
"Oh…" N said looking down. "I really feel bad for you, buddy. Just this once, I wish I could be on your side."
"Detective N…" J said looking at him..
"Yeah, but I shouldn't be saying that kind of stuff to you." N said looking around. Then looks at Kairi and smiles "Hey! You're a cute kid." Kairi just stares at him. N chuckles and said "I'm not scary. Honest!"
'Wow, I never knew N liked kids…' J thinks.
"H-Hey! I know! I'll show you something cool!" N said smiling and turns his hand into a gun "How's this? It's a real, genuine gun hand…"
"D-Detective N! What are you doing showing her something that dangerous!" J said in shock.
"Oh, sorry…" N said realizing his mistake and turns his hand back to normal.
"What about Jaden and the charges against him?" J asked the detective.
"I don't think you can win, buddy. If you're talking about proof, we've got a few pieces." N said sadly.
"You got proof…?" J asked him.
"Yeah, buddy. That brown-haired photographer's going to testify tomorrow." N tells her.
'He must be talking about Todd. Actually….speaking of Todd…' J thinks to herself
We flashback to yesterday.
"I took some hot pictures earlier!" Past Todd said smiling.
"Huh?" Past J said
"Remember?! I took some pictures of the murder scene inside!" Past Todd tells her.
We return to the present as J thinks 'Todd's 'hot pictures'…I wonder what his camera captured…?'
"…Besides, you must've realized by now, buddy." N tells her sadly "There's no way anyone other than Jaden Yuki could've done it."
J's LED eyes widen at that. She looks at Kairi and thinks 'What am I supposed to say to Kairin now…?' She then asks N "About Dr. Strange…"
"The victim wasn't super famous, but people still knew who he was." N explains and adds "His face was all over those tabloid shows last year."
"Yeah, I know." J said with a nod
"I was looking through some newspapers last year, and…" N said then checks his coat "Huh? I couldn't sworn I had…I cut an article out, but I guess I must've lost it…"
'He's searching though his pockets…And boy, are those surprisingly big…' J thinks on it.
"Hmm…It looked really interesting, too." N said as he checked and sighs "Hey, do you have a copy, buddy?"
'A copy of that article…? I know Dr. Strange might have brought a copy to the office when he came by…' J thinks on it and then asks "About Jaden's trial tomorrow…"
"I've got two pieces of news for you, buddy." N said to her.
"Two?" J asked confused.
"Yeah. 'Bad news' and 'even worse news.'" N said with a nod "So which do you want to hear first?"
"…I don't really care…It doesn't change the fact that I'm not going to like it." J said concerned.
"Alright, buddy. Well, the prosecutor for the trial is Prosecutor Whittabane." N told her.
"WHAT?! Whittabane?!" J asked in complete shock. He remembers Phillip Whittabane or as he was commonly known as Emperor Belos.
'Phillip Whittabane aka Emperor Belos…He was an awe-inspiring veteran prosecutor. He never lost a case in the 40 years of his career, and he raised a fearsome disciple.' J thinks to herself remabering Belos' smirking face 'The horrible aftertaste of the evil he force-fed me is something I'll never forget.'
"…Wait a sec." J said remembering something and looks at N "But didn't Belos stand trial and…"
"That's where the other piece of bad news comes in…" N said concerned. "The Whittabane you're facing tomorrow is actually his successor..."
"Successor…?" J asked surprised "So, um…Who is this 'successor' to Belos?"
"Literally, buddy, it's Emperor Belo's kid." N tells her "His kid became a prosecutor real young...like 13 and hasn't lost a trail since. That's what they call a 'prodigy,' buddy."
"Hmmm…Kid, huh…W-Wa-Wait a sec!" J said in shock "Th-Th-Thirteen?! The kid became a prosecutor at the age of THIRTEEN?! I mean, a prodigy like that…I would have heard something about…"
"Oh, no, no. The kid was born and raised in Hoenn, buddy." N said with a smile. "That region's got a lot of stuff and is a great place to develop a person's talents."
'Hoenn, huh? That's probably why I've never heard of this person' J thinks on it and shudders 'Ugh…Still, all it takes is someone mention the actual name of 'Belos', and I get terrible flashbacks to that case.' J thinks of the DL-6 case but the flashbacks were focused on Hunter and he clutches her head and thinks 'Stop it! Get a grip on yourself, J! None of that matters anymore…now that he's gone…'
J sighs recovering and then pulls out the Newspaper Clipping 1 and presents it to N saying "Um, Dr. Strange brought this over to my office the other day, and…"
"Hey! It's that news story!" N said seeing it "The one about the malpractice suit!"
"Fourteen patients died and it caused a huge stink." J said recounting the article.
"Yeah, but that's not all, buddy." N tells her "Things only got worse after that."
"You mean the car accident the nurse died in?" J asked him.
"…Hmm…Oh, here we go." N said pulling out another news article "I brought my own clipping with me today. Here buddy, this is for you." He hands it to her.
"Alright. Thanks." J said taking it and Newspaper Clipping 2 was added to the court record. Reading it, she found that the name of the nurse was Kasumi Yoshizawa.
J realizes that this might be the connection Sumire has with Hugo and heads back to the side room.
J walks in with Kairi and then not waiting effort and presents the Logic Solver Keyblade saying "Take that!" She summons the Logic Solver keyblade onto her hand as again the room darkens, and the chains and Psyche-lock appears around Sumire to block out the secret relating 'The Victim' J then said firmly "Sumire Yoshizawa. I believe you do know who Dr. Strange is!"
"I told you! How many times do I, have to repeat myself?" Sumire asked her. "if you're so sure, then where's like your proof?"
"While it may be possible that you never actually met Dr. Strange in person, I do believe you might have at least, indirectly known of him." J told her.
"Like, what do you mean, 'indirectly'…?" Sumire asked
'I should try to show that the possibility existed, for now…' J thinks on it and a slot opens up for her to put the evidence in, she then presents the Newspaper Clipping 2 saying "Take that! Take a look at this newspaper clipping."
"Like what is it?" Sumire asked her "A story about an accident?"
"Please read the victim's name." J told her.
"Um…'Kasumi Yoshizawa'…" Sumire said reading the title.
"'Yoshizawa' is a pretty rare last name, wouldn't you say?" J asked her. "Miss. Kasumi wouldn't happen to be a relative of yours, would she?"
Sumire's eyes widen at that, and she said "So you noticed. Sh-She was my older sister."
"I'm sorry about your loss…" J told her. She then asked "Your sister…Was she a nurse…Perhaps at Dr. Strange's surgical clinic?" Sumire gulps at that "Strange Surgical Clinic…I don't think I need to tell you that the clinic was un by the victim, Dr. Hugo Strange." Sumire fidgets her glasses nervous as J continued "Which is how you knew of Dr. Strange: you knew him through your sister!"
The Logic Solver Keyblade glows charges and J holds it up aiming at the lock, it fires a light beam at the Psyche-lock and destroys it, the chains unravel and vanish, and the room returns to normal 'Unlock Successful!' J's keyblade vanishes.
J then asks looking at Sumire "Please, tell me all you know about Dr. Strange."
Sumire sighs sitting down and shows an image of Kazumi who was almost identical to Sumire but her hair was done up win a ponytail and she wasn't wearing glasses. Also Kazumi in the picture wa sin her nurse uniform. "My…My sister's name is Kazumi Yoshizawa. She was, a nurse at Dr. Strange's clinic." Sumire said to J.
'That's what I thought…' J thinks.
"I heard that, Dr. Strange was really tough on people. A total slave driver when it came to his ambitions. My sis was always coming home wiped out like she just ran a 24 hour athletic course because she was overworked." Sumire explained.
"Wiped out? So is that why she fell asleep at the wheel?" J asked her concerned.
"That guy, drove my sis so hard, so, that's why the accident happened." Sumire said clutching her skirt.
"The one where 14 patients died from malpractice?" J said thinking.
"Yeah, I think that was the doctor's fault, too." Sumire said with a nod. "My sis was pushed by everyone's expectations and her duties and stuff. And that pushed her to her death."
"Oh…I'm sorry…" J said sadly to her.
"So, are we done?" Sumire asked her. "I've already told my story to everyone…"
J nods and looks to Kairi, the little girl asked J "Do you understand now, Miss. J? This is how a Psyche-Lock works."
J summons the Logic Solver Keyblade looking at it and said "…Well, I don't plan to pry into people's hearts unless I absolutely need to…"
"The lock this time was pretty easy, but…you might meet people who aren't as willing to give in later on." Kairi explains to her "If you don't have enough proof, be careful and know when to stop trying."
J nods and figure now is best to go and meet with Jaden.
June 20, Keyblade Village
As they exits the manor Kairi said to J "Miss. J."
"Hmm? What's wrong?" J asked looking at her.
"I have never left Keyblade Village." Kairi said sadly.
"R-Really? Wow, that's, um, pretty amazing…" J said thinking.
"You are going to meet with Master Jaden…aren't you?" Kairi asked her. "Please tell her I said hi." She then runs off.
"Hey, wait!" J called out and thinks 'She ran off…Again. Well, I know Sumire's secret now, but…I still don't have any idea how I'm going to save Jaden. I don't even know if I should go in there with a smile or a straight face…' She sighs as she flies off to the station.
June 20, Detention Center, Visitor's Room
J walks into the room and sits down still in her own thoughts as she thinks as she waits for Jaden 'What am I supposed to do?! I'm almost out of time! Can I really do anything? Can I really save him…?'
"Sorry to keep you waiting." A familiar male voice said on the other side of the glass
'Huh? Must be Jaden…' J thinks still looking down.
"It's been a long time, hasn't it, J?" The male voice said to her
J's LED eyes widen realizing that voice and thinks 'That voice...' She looks up and sees on the other side was her old mentor, in Jaden's outfit, it was Terra whose spirit was being channeled by Jaden "T-Terra!"
"Even without me being here, it looks like you've learned to stand on your own." Terra said smiling.
J thinks back to memories of being with Terra when he was alive and thinks 'Terra…He's Jaden's older brother, and my menor.' He memories then recall the events of Terra's death 'He was a top-notch defence lawyer, but a certain case forced him into 'retirement'. But…whenever I'm in trouble, he comes to help, just like this. His spirit comes back from the other world and borrows Jaden's body for a bit…'
"Jaden, you can't make that kind of face in front of your client." Terra said smiling. J jumps at that "A lawyer is someone who smiles no matter how bad it gets, and especially when it's bad."
"Terra…" J said to him.
"You can't smile at the end if you haven't been smiling the whole way there." Terra told her. "In any case, the face you're making now is no face to show a client, J."
"B-But!" J said teary LED eyed
"So, tell me all about it." Terra said to her. "I'm going to guess that my brother is in a lot of trouble again…"
J nods and think in her mind palace thinks 'I told him everything about what had happened in the last two days. Terra closed his eyes, deep in thought, while he listened…'
After J was done, Terra looking concerned said "…I see…"
"Terra…What am I supposed to do?" J asked him.
"It's pretty cleat what a good lawyer does in this situation." Terra tells her.
"A-And that is?! Tell me, please!" J asked looking hopeful.
"Believe in your convictions." Terra told her simply. "And fight for the complete acquittal of your client."
J then asked confused "You think Jaden's not guilty?! How can you be so sure?!"
"I know he is. And I'll give you a hint as to why." Terra said with a smile.
"Y-Yes?" J said.
"Keyblade Warriors can't have dreams." Terra told her.
"They can't…?" J asked curious.
"From what you told me, it sounds like Jaden was having a dream while channeling." Terra states.
"Yeah…He said he dreamt that he had died and had been buried in the ground." J said with a nod.
"But that is impossible." Terra told her. "You've heard it from her, I'm sure. When a keyblade warrior channels, their own spirit disappears. Which means that it's impossible for him to dream during that time."
J eyes widen and said "Then…What does this mean?!"
"I think it's safe to bet that Jaden was set-up." Terra said with a nod.
"A set-up?!" J said in shock.
"It's up to you to blow the lid on this case tomorrow and show how he was set-up." Terra explained..
"How am I supposed to prove his innocence when I have nothing to go on?!" J asked him.
"If you're looking for a clue, it's already in your hands." Terra told her.
"I-It is?!" J asked.
"Just as it sounds, J, you already held the 'key'." Terra said smiling
'R-Really…?' J thinks on it.
"Come on, show me the 'key' to this case." Terra said smiling.
'The 'key' huh? Alright, I'll show it to him; the 'key' I hold.' J thinks and presents Terra the Black Key saying "Terra, have you seen this key before?"
"Ahhh, the key…" Terra said seeing it. "It's literally, the key to understanding everything that's happened in this case."
"This key?" J asked confused.
"J, listen. Right now, that key is sitting in your hand." Terra explained "However, it shouldn't be. It contradicts the 'facts'."
'What does he mean…?' J thinks confused
"I'm certain this key will be the piece of evidence that makes your case tomorrow." Terra said smiling. He pauses then said "You already know everything you need to know. You know what the 'key' to this case is…That is enough…"
"But…But! How can I win tomorrow without knowing who the real murderer is?!" J asked him. "Who…Who could have…?"
Terra remains silent. J in her mind palace writing thinks 'I didn't know it at the time, but this day was going to end with a turn for the surprising…'
To J's surprise her Logic Solver keychain glows as the world darkens around her and Terra and many chains appear around Terra and slamming into them to bind them away wasn't one but three Psyche-Locks
J in shock said "T-Terra?! Wh-What…?!"
"What's wrong?" Terra asked confused.
'That's right. Only I can see the Psyche-Locks as the wielder of the Logic Solver Keyblade..' J thinks 'Which means…Terra must know something about the real murderer! But for this to be something that he would hide under lock and key from even me…What in the world is going on?!'
Well that is a surprising twist, but what could Terra know he keeps hidden, well find out another time as we move on to the first day of trial and J meets her new rival prosecutor.
