Sofia The first
Sofia and James More than meets the eye
Chapter 6 The change of their life
As Sofia stood in James's arms, she felt nothing but pure bliss. She didn't want to leave the warmth of his embrace or let the moment slip away. It was passionate, exhilarating, and unlike anything she had ever experienced. For the first time, they both felt that their love was no longer unspoken—it had triumphed.
Breaking the silence, Sofia looked into James's eyes, her heart filled with emotion.
"Oh, James... This was everything I wanted—well, almost. I had planned to confess my feelings during a romantic dance," Sofia said softly, a faint blush gracing her cheeks.
James gazed at her lovingly, gently running his fingers through her hair. "Sofia, my love, you can't imagine how I felt when I saw you dancing with Desmond to that romantic song. I felt like I couldn't go on, like I'd lost everything…"
Sofia placed her hand against his cheek, her touch soothing his pain. "Don't think about that now, James. What matters is that we're together, truly together at last," she whispered.
James's voice was barely above a whisper, but it carried the full weight of his feelings. "Yes, Sofia, my beautiful Sofia. We've finally confessed our love."
Sofia smiled, her blue eyes shimmering in the moonlight. "Our love has triumphed. It was destiny, James. And now... now we can kiss."
James smirked playfully. "And now it's my turn."
He leaned in, capturing her lips with his own. His arms tightened around her, pulling her closer. Sofia placed her hands around his neck, closing her eyes as she surrendered herself to the moment. It felt like a dream—a dream she never wanted to wake from.
"Sofia, you've brought me back to life," James murmured against her lips.
"And you're the flame that keeps me alive, James. I couldn't bear the thought of you loving someone else," Sofia confessed, her voice trembling slightly.
James cupped her face gently, his thumbs brushing away her worries. "Don't worry, Sof. I've found my princess now. May I kiss you again?"
Sofia smiled warmly, her heart swelling with joy. "Always, James. Always."
The kiss deepened, their love growing stronger with each passing second. The moonlight surrounded them, making the moment feel timeless—an intimate connection that neither wanted to end.
But their perfect moment was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Sofia? James? Are you here?" Baileywick called out, his tone inquisitive.
Sofia reluctantly pulled away, turning toward the door. "Yes, Baileywick. We're here," she said quickly.
Baileywick entered and smiled knowingly. "Ah, so your plan worked, Sofia."
James raised an eyebrow, glancing at Sofia. "You told Baileywick about your feelings for me?"
Sofia nodded confidently. "Yes, James. I told him because I wanted him to find out what our parents think about us. I trust him, and I know he'll help us."
Baileywick nodded in agreement. "Your Majesty, you've made a wise decision. For now, though, it's best to keep your relationship a secret. I'm still working on gathering information, Sofia."
James smiled appreciatively. "Thank you, Baileywick. It means a lot to us that you're willing to help."
Baileywick bowed slightly. "It's an honor, Prince James. But for now, everyone is asking about you both. It's best that you return to the ball—separately, of course, to avoid suspicion. Especially from your parents."
Sofia sighed, glancing at James. "You're right, Baileywick. I'll leave first with you, and James can follow after."
James groaned quietly. "Why should we, Sofia? I don't want to stay at the ball—I just want to be with you."
Baileywick cleared his throat. "It's necessary, Your Majesty. Otherwise, someone might notice something unusual."
James relented, his tone resigned but understanding. "You're right, Baileywick. Sacrifices must be made for love, even if it's not what we want. Let's go. We don't want to keep the guests waiting, do we?"
Sofia and Baileywick returned to the ballroom first, slipping seamlessly back into the crowd. Moments later, James entered unnoticed, blending into the group of guests. Sofia made her way to Vivian, who was practically glowing with happiness.
"Sofia! Where have you been? You missed so much!" Vivian exclaimed, her excitement radiating.
"I'm sorry, Vivian. I had to take care of something. What did I miss?" Sofia asked with genuine curiosity.
Vivian clasped her hands together, barely able to contain her joy. "My romantic dance! Desmond invited me to dance, told me he likes me, and asked me on a date!"
Sofia laughed, her happiness for her friend evident. "Oh, Vivian, I'm so thrilled for you! You two are such a sweet couple. Where's Desmond now?"
"He's in the bathroom," Vivian replied with a giggle.
"I'm so happy for you, Vivian. Truly. You deserve this," Sofia said warmly.
Just then, Desmond returned, his expression light and cheerful.
"Sofia! I didn't see you earlier. Thank you for your advice—it helped me so much," Desmond said sincerely.
Vivian added quickly, "Yes, Sofia. Thank you. If it weren't for you, we might not be together now."
Sofia waved them off. "Oh, I just gave you a little nudge."
Desmond shook his head firmly. "No, Sofia. You gave us courage. You're a true friend."
Vivian giggled. "Sofia, you're like a doctor of love."
Sofia laughed. "You're too much, Vivian. I helped because you're my friends—and you would've done the same for me. I'm truly happy for both of you."
They hugged her tightly, their gratitude evident.
Vivian said softly, "Thank you, Sofia. And if you ever need anything, you can always count on us."
"Thank you, both of you," Sofia replied, her heart full.
King Roland, Queen Miranda, and the three fairies—Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather—took to the stage for a speech.
Roland began, "Dear guests, we are honored to have hosted this wonderful ball tonight."
Miranda added warmly, "We hope you've all had a magical evening."
Fauna chimed in, "It's been a joy to welcome each of you to the castle."
Flora continued, "And seeing the children so excited has made this night even more special."
Merryweather concluded, "To celebrate, we are pleased to announce a trade agreement between the School of Royal Prep and the Kingdom of Enchancia."
Roland closed the speech with confidence. "We hope this partnership benefits both the school and the kingdom, fostering prosperity for generations to come. Thank you all—and please continue enjoying the ball!"
The guests applauded warmly before resuming the festivities.
As the night wound down, Sofia returned to her room, tired but fulfilled. Her animal friends were there, waiting eagerly.
"Clover, Mia, Robin—I did it! We kissed! We finally confessed our feelings!" Sofia exclaimed, her face glowing with happiness.
Clover hopped excitedly into her arms. "Good job, Princess! I'm so proud of you!"
"See? We told you destiny would take care of everything. All you had to do was choose the right time," Robin said, perching comfortably on Sofia's shoulder.
"We're so happy for you, Sofia!" Mia added, her tiny wings fluttering with excitement.
"Thank you, guys. I couldn't have done it without your support. I'm so lucky to have friends like you," Sofia said, her voice warm with gratitude.
"Sofia, we only did what you've always done for us," Robin replied with a knowing smile.
"That's right, Sofia. That's what friends are for," Clover chimed in, hopping onto the bed.
"And you know we'll always be here for you," Mia said, her tone sincere.
Sofia's expression softened as she looked at her friends. "I'm so glad to have you all in my life. You've always been there for me, and now, I'm happier than I've ever been—I've found my love."
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the doorway.
"Sofia, may I come in?" James's voice called softly.
Sofia turned toward the door, her face lighting up. "James! Yes, you can. What brings you here?" she asked as her animal friends quickly ducked out of sight behind the bed.
James stepped inside with a smile. "I couldn't sleep, and I thought you might want to go for a nighttime walk. I talked to Baileywick, and he said it's fine as long as we're back before 5 a.m.," he explained.
Sofia's heart warmed at his thoughtfulness. "Oh, James, that's so sweet of you. But where are we going?"
James grinned mischievously. "It's a surprise. I promise you'll love it. We'll take a horse."
Sofia tilted her head slightly, curiosity dancing in her eyes. "Are you sure about this?"
James chuckled softly. "Of course I'm sure. Or... do you think you're not safe with me?" he teased.
Sofia laughed, her eyes sparkling. "I feel safe with you, James. I'd love to spend this night with you. Let's go."
They left the castle under the cover of night, James leading a horse from the stables. Together, they took to the skies, the cool breeze rushing past them.
"Hold on tight, Sofia. I don't want you to fall," James said, his arms securely holding her close.
"Oh, James, you know I've flown before," Sofia teased, her laugh soft and melodic.
James smirked, his voice tinged with playfulness. "I know, but I just like holding you."
Sofia smiled, her cheeks warming at his words. "You're impossible, James."
"Now, let's pick up where we left off earlier," James said suddenly.
"What do you mean?" Sofia asked, but her question was silenced as James leaned in and captured her lips in a kiss.
When they pulled apart, Sofia mockingly pouted. "James, you stole another kiss!"
James grinned. "And you didn't like it?"
Sofia giggled. "Of course I loved it. I just wanted to tease you. How much longer until we get to this secret place of yours?"
"Not long. We're almost there," James said, his tone filled with anticipation.
"I can't wait. I just want to spend time with you," Sofia said, leaning forward to kiss his cheek softly.
James smiled warmly. "Don't worry, Sof. Soon, everything will be the way we want it to be."
A few minutes later, James pointed to a clearing below.
"Look—there it is," he said.
Sofia followed his gaze. "What is it?"
"My little house," James replied.
Sofia looked puzzled as they descended. "You have a house? How?"
Once they landed, James helped Sofia off the horse and began explaining. "Our mother used to bring Amber and me here when Dad was away. It's quiet, peaceful. Come on, I'll start a fire and lay out a blanket for us."
As Sofia looked around, she noticed the breathtaking view of the kingdom stretching out before them. "This is incredible, James. Thank you for bringing me here. I never knew this place existed."
James smiled softly, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "After our mother passed, we stopped coming here. I doubt Amber even remembers this place."
Sofia's heart ached at his words. "Oh, James, that's so sad. I'm so sorry," she said, wrapping her arms around him in a comforting hug.
James returned the embrace, his tone reassuring. "Don't be. I'm just glad I could share it with you."
As James lit the fire and spread the blanket on the grass, Sofia settled into his arms.
"Can I sit here?" Sofia asked softly.
James chuckled. "Of course. I'll keep you warm."
"Then hold me tight," Sofia murmured, leaning into him.
James kissed the top of her head. "Always, Sof." He tilted her chin up and leaned in for another kiss, this one deep and filled with passion.
When they finally broke apart, James spoke gently. "I wrote something for you."
Sofia's eyes widened with curiosity. "You did? What is it?"
James reached into his pocket and unfolded a piece of paper. "Listen to this," he began.
"Sofia, my love. I adore you more than words can express. When I'm with you, I feel truly alive. You bring me happiness I never thought possible—a love I never knew existed. My life without you is unimaginable. You've touched my heart in ways no one ever has. Every day, I thank the heavens for you. You are my everything, the reason I live. When I'm alone, I dream of you, and when I wake, you're the first thought on my mind. I long to hold you, to kiss your forehead, and to whisper in your ear how much I love you. You are my dream, my reality, my Sofia. I'll love you to the end of time."
As James finished, Sofia's eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "Oh, Jamie... you're so sweet, so perfect. And I love you too," she whispered, pulling him into a deep kiss as she wrapped her arms tightly around him.
Under the stars and moonlight, they lost themselves in their love, the world fading away as they held each other close. Eventually, the peaceful atmosphere lulled them to sleep.
At dawn, James stirred and gently shook Sofia awake.
"Sofia, wake up. It's time to go," he said softly.
Sofia blinked sleepily. "James... what's wrong?"
"We need to pack up and head back to the castle. It's 4:35 a.m.," James replied with a small smile.
"How do you know?" Sofia asked, stretching.
James chuckled. "Baileywick gave me a clock and set an alarm so we wouldn't lose track of time."
Sofia smiled, standing up. "Alright, let's hurry back."
Quickly, they packed up and flew back to the castle. After putting the horse away in the stables, they paused just before going to their rooms.
James leaned in, kissing her softly. "See you soon, my love. Sleep well."
Sofia smiled, returning the kiss. "We'll see each other in a few hours. Sleep well, my handsome prince."
With one last look at each other, they parted ways, their hearts full of love and anticipation for the future.
