Outside of the dormitories...
Adrien felt like he had to get some fresh air after what he had just found out. Everyone gave him space, but he still wanted to talk to Skylar. He didn't why he kept getting pushed away from her like this. He didn't know if it was a sign or not to get close to her. Something about it did seem off though that he just never got around to talking to her.
He shook it off for now and headed outside, but not before eyeing her bracelet. She was playing with it again, which she seemed to be doing a lot more now. Something about it felt weird to him. He felt like she was holding something back, but didn't know what exactly. He soon left with his school bag and phone in his hands.
He clenched onto his phone, ready to call Marinette. Plagg floated around him, looking a little worried about him.
"Hey kid, what's going on with you?" Plagg asked him, "You seem annoyed about something. Does it have to do with Marinette or Skylar?"
Adrien felt himself getting annoyed again as he looked through his contacts.
"Both Plagg," Adrien told him, "Something's going with Skylar, but I never get this chance to talk to her. And Marinette... She just went behind my back and sent Alya over here without telling me. She should've known that I'd be upset."
"Dude. She just got a mild concussion," Plagg told him, "You need to give her a break just like Katsuki said. She's probably exhausted."
Adrien hesitated to call her, but then remembered that he still wanted to check on her. He thought that maybe he was being a little harsh with her, but he still wanted to call her just to make sure everything was okay.
"Why is everyone exhausted this morning?" Adrien asked under his breath as he looked for Marinette's number, "First Mr. Yagi, then Izuku and now Marinette. There's something really weird is going on, and I don't like it."
Adrien soon found her number and dialed it. After a couple rings, she finally answered it.
"He-Hey Adrien..." Marinette said to him a little nervously over the phone.
"Marinette. You have some explaining to do..." Adrien said to her.
She hesitated, but he knew that she really tired from probably staying up all night. He had give her a break whether he was upset or not. He didn't want to be upset, but he couldn't help it if she was planning on sending her teammates back and forth without him knowing about it.
"I'm sorry Adrien for not warning or telling you," Marinette explained to him, "I was going to, but things got out of hand. Alya wanted to go sooner than I expected. I couldn't go to sleep because of my mild concussion so I'm exhausted. I forgot to message or call you because Ember is around me all the time. I can't let it slip out that I'm Ladybug. She's starting to trust me, and I can't let this get out so soon."
Just based on all of that, he could tell that she was dealing with a lot right now. He let out a sigh, feeling really bad for her. Adrien really hoped that she could finally get some sleep after all of this. Then he realized that for a moment back there when Alya showed up that he hoped that she went with her. He was a little disappointed that she wasn't there with her.
"It's okay Marinette," Adrien told her, "I know that you're already dealing with a lot right now. Clearly you need some rest, so I'm not mad at you. I just... I guess I was just hoping that you'd be there with her... I miss you a lot."
Marinette didn't say anything for a moment, and he knew that he might've thrown her off for a moment there.
"I miss you too Adrien," Marinette said back, "I'd come over if I could, but I need to get some rest. Ember needs to head home soon anyway, but I need to wait and make sure things are okay for her to go home. I don't want to send her back knowing that the League of Villains are around. I'd rather the pro heroes handle things first, you know?"
Adrien couldn't help but smile at her confidence. Something about it made him feel really good about handling Skylar and the portal. Whatever was going on, he would help in any way that he could as well.
"I understand," Adrien said, feeling proud of her, "When did you get to be so cool?"
"Hey. I've always been cool silly kitty," Marinette said to him through her phone.
They both laughed, feeling really good for a moment. Just hearing her laugh through the phone made him miss her even more. He really wanted to touch her and hug her close to him. He missed holding her hand and kissing her. Just talking to her made him so much better and more confident. Once they stopped laughing, he could tell that she was feeling the same way.
"Just... be careful out there, okay?" Marinette said to him, "We don't know what those League of Villains are capable of. From what I can tell, they're not a group of villains that we would normally face. Please stay out of trouble, and I mean it kitty. Promise me."
Something about her talking about them like that gave him chills. For a moment, he felt like someone was watching them. He looked around him and didn't see anything. The leaves moved from the wind, which made him a little antsy. He let out a sigh, feeling a little nervous for a moment there.
"Don't worry about me milady," Adrien told her, "I promise that I will stay out of trouble. Besides, I'm sure Alya will figure things out before they can plan anything."
"Alright... Well, I should probably get some rest," Marinette told him, "I'll call you when I wake up, okay? Let me know if anything comes up with Alya."
"Of course," Adrien said back, "I love you Marinette. Get some sleep."
"I-I love you too Adrien... Bye..."
Adrien hung up and let out a sigh.
Once he hung up, he noticed his missed phone call with his mother the other day. He had completely forgotten about that and felt bad that he never called her back. This was his mother after all, and he really missed talking to her. He looked at her number for a long time and didn't know if now was the right time to call her however. He was really busy with other things and didn't want to drag her into this. She probably dealt with enough already back home.
Before he could even press her number however, he heard a twig snap behind him. Adrien snapped out of it and whipped around to see Midoriya standing there. He felt like he had to catch his breath for a minute after getting whiplash.
"Geez Izuku. You scared me," Adrien said to him, "Don't sneak up on me like that. I thought you were one of those League of Villain guys or something."
"S-Sorry about that. I just wanted to check on you," Midoriya said back, "Is Marinette alright?"
Adrien hesitated to say anything for a moment since he was a little upset with him. The more he thought about it however, the more he realized that he was just trying to protect his school and his friends. It was his friends and classmates on that machine after all. He couldn't let anything happen to them.
"Yeah. She's just tired from staying up all night," Adrien told him, "She explained things to me. Look, I'm sorry that I got upset just now. I was just worried about Marinette, especially since she's done stuff like this before as Ladybug. She's done things behind my back before, and... it really hurt me... It felt like she didn't need me as a teammate or a partner anymore..."
Adrien noticed Midoriya look away from him, and he knew that he felt guilty about something. He didn't even have to explain as to why he felt this way. Adrien understood and felt bad for him now that things were explained better.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know about that," Midoriya said back, "I wouldn't have done that if I had known about it. Based on that however, it seems like you two have been doing better. I mean, you are one of the Guardians of the Miraculous now."
Adrien looked down at the ground, feeling a little out of place when it came to that. He hasn't really done anything as the Guardian of the Miraculous ever since he got this title. He never even got the chance to take any Miraculous or the Miracle Box ever since then. They've been so busy with finishing their first year, Summer Camp and now all of this. So far, their second year has been pretty quiet until Skylar showed up.
Adrien looked up to see Midoriya rubbing his throat as if it was irritating him. He noticed him doing that a lot while they talking in the dormitory. He wondered if maybe he was coming down with something. Midoriya did say that he didn't get that much sleep after all.
"Are you feeling alright? You keep touching your throat," Adrien asked him, "I hope you're not coming down with anything."
Midoriya instinctively moved his hand away from it, and he couldn't seem to explain some things to him. Adrien gave him a suspicious look, which caught his attention. Whatever was going on with him, Adrien knew that it was important.
Before they could say anything else, Skylar came out of the dormitory looking ready for some hero training.
"There you are Izuku!" Skylar exclaimed to him, "When do you want to hero train? We should do it soon before it gets crowded in Gym Gamma."
Adrien stood there, noticing how much better Skylar looked. She looked like she was starting to go back to the way she usually acts. Midoriya looked a little unsure if they should hero train or not. He looked like she shook it off as he faced Skylar.
"You know, why not? It might be good for me to let loose for a bit," Midoriya said to her, "Come on. We can go right now if you want to."
Adrien was surprised that he was so open to hero training with her again so soon. Her eyes lit up as she hugged him so tightly that it made him blue in the face. She pulled back though, realizing what she was doing.
"Let's go! I wanna go get my hero costume from the classroom right away!" Skylar exclaimed as she dragged Midoriya by the arm.
Before Adrien knew it, he was left alone outside. He then looked at his phone, wondering if he should call his mother. Without thinking about it, he called her. He waited patiently for her to answer, but didn't even know what to say to her. Soon enough, he heard someone answer the phone.
"Mom? H-Hi... it's me..."
Earlier in U.A. Academy...
AllMight noticed Rena Rouge looking a little nervous as she walked into the staff room. He couldn't blame her since she was clearly a fan of superheroes just like Midoriya. She was surrounded a hand full of pro heroes that were ready to find out what was going on in the school. She kept adjusting her backpack like it helped her focus on what she was doing.
Mr. Aizawa walked over to Principal Nezu who seemed to catch her attention right away. Her eyes locked onto him, shocked to see a weird mix of a mouse, bear and dog. What freaked her out the most was when he started talking to her.
"Hi Rena Rouge! It's a pleasure to finally meet a friend of Ladybug's," Principal Nezu introduced, "I'm Principal Nezu. Don't mind my appearance."
AllMight could tell that Rena Rouge never dealt with talking animals all that much. She seemed to regain her composure pretty quickly and respectfully bowed to him. He could tell that she was trying to stay calm.
"Don't worry about it. We've dealt with some pretty weird things back in Paris," Rena Rouge said to him.
"Good. Then that should help us figure things out really quickly then," Snipe said to them, "We're kind of already busy even without all of this going on."
"Don't be rude, Snipe," Midnight said to him, "This young lady is here to help us find whoever is hacking our computers."
Everyone was looking at Rena Rouge, which made her flinch a little. AllMight stood by her side, just to make her feel more support. They looked at her and then Present Mic looked at Mr. Aizawa.
"You're okay with this Shouta?" Present Mic asked him, "She's just a kid after all. I know things are different in their Paris, but still. She'll be going through all of our school's information."
Mr. Aizawa looked at Rena Rouge and something about his eyes looked less intense. AllMight noticed that he was being more supportive towards her once everyone started looking at her. He even seemed to lean closer to her to help her out, which made him smile a little.
"Yeah. I know her, and she's helped Marinette get out of some weird situations. I've seen her in action, and she's pretty good on her feet. I think she's exactly who we need in order to figure out what's going on," Mr. Aizwa explained to them, "Besides, Marinette sent her all the way over here. We should give her a chance to at least figure out who's hacking the computer's systems."
AllMight noticed everyone start to agree, and Rena Rouge stood taller.
"Alright. So, is there anything that we should know about?" Ectoplasm asked them, "I mean, you called us and mentioned the League of Villains. That means it's possible that someone from that group is doing this."
Rena Rouge hesitated, but raised her hand up anyway. Mr. Aizawa nodded to her to say something.
"It's only a possibility. I only brought them up because a couple of them were involved with those akumatizations six months ago," Rena Rouge told them, "It's possible that they are interested in whatever's going on here at U.A. I may not know much about them, but I'm guessing that they've infiltrated before. That makes it an even higher possibility that it's one of them."
AllMight's eyes widened, not realizing that the League of Villains were even involved. He looked at Mr. Aizawa, and he gave him a look that told everything that he needed to know. He didn't think it was this serious. He looked at Rena Rouge, wondering if it was a good idea to get her involved.
"So what do we do now? If it's one of the League of Villains, then shouldn't we plan some kind of barrier around the school or more protection around the computer systems?" Powerloader asked them, "Melissa and Hatsume could even help with that. Melissa in particular is really good with computer tech. She could probably install or create some sort of protection software."
"We'll definitely get her on that right away," Principal Nezu told him, "In the meantime, I want to have Rena Rouge go through the computer system, files and even security cameras. See if we can find anything suspicious. This is a good day to do that with no classes going on. Are you alright with that?"
Rena Rouge was clearly a little nervous, but stood tall with confidence.
"O-Of course. I might still need some help just so I can understand how some things work around here," Rena Rouge explained to him.
Principal Nezu agreed, and AllMight tell her sit in his seat. He could tell that she was still nervous, but she went with it. He turned it on for her and soon she was ready to start looking around. Other teachers went about their day, but others stuck around to make sure things were running smoothly with Rena Rouge. AllMight pulled up another seat to sit next to her. He could tell that she was trying to stay calm with him around, so he eased up a bit. Mr. Aizawa stuck around just in case Rena Rouge needed some things to be explained to her.
Soon enough, Rena Rouge was looking through some files specifically about their classes. AllMight noticed that she was looking at Class 2-A specifically. Something about it felt chilling, knowing that someone was hacking the computer system just to get information on them. He spotted Midoriya, which worried him even more. He really hoped that the League of Villains and that it was just a coincidence.
She soon came across Skylar, which caught her eye.
"What do you know about Skylar?" Rena Rouge asked them, "I mean, I know she's new here and all. But you had to have done some sort of check on her before letting her in. I'm guessing this kind of school does that sort of thing."
"Of course we did," Present Mic told her with a bit of an attitude, "We do that for all of our students here."
Mr. Aizawa gave him stern glare, which got him to ease up a little.
"Yes. Skylar Garnier was recommended to us late. She was so impressive that we decided to put her into second year. We don't usually do that, but her training and skills were higher than we expected for someone her age. She actually came from Paris, believe it or not just to come here," Mr. Aizawa explained to her.
That caught her attention right away.
"Paris? That's gotta be a little weird, right?" Rena Rouge asked back, "I mean, this new girl just shows up in the middle of your school year just to go to U.A.?"
"We knew that it was a little weird, but we double checked. She came from this Paris just based on her having a quirk," Mr. Aizawa explained to her.
For some reason, AllMight got a weird feeling once Mr. Aizawa mentioned all of this. He didn't like where this was heading. Something about it was making him sick to his stomach as they kept getting into it. He watched Rena Rouge looking through information about her, and she seemed okay with what she was seeing.
"All of this is exactly what we got back on that machine. Clearly someone has been hacking this computer system," Rena Rouge explained to them, "If I looked at any of Class 2-A's files, I guarantee that it's all there as well."
"Why would it only be Class 2-A's files specifically? If it's the League of Villains, then it makes more sense. Class 2-A was involved more than any other class here," Ectoplasm explained to them.
AllMight got a little nervous and wondered how they were going to get out of this one. He really didn't want Class 2-A getting dragged into this again, especially after what happened with Chrysalis. He worried about Midoriya and hoped that he wouldn't do anything that would put him in harm's way. Rena Rouge got out of the file and looked around at the computer's systems. AllMight kept an eye on what she was doing and noticed her looking closer at the security system.
"I'm guessing you guys have a pretty good protection software and barrier for these files," Rena Rouge said to them, "Whoever got through to these files clearly is very smart. This seems like a pretty solid barrier that it tough to get through. You'd have to know how to work your way around this to find what you're looking for. If it's true that it's the League of Villains, then Class 2-A is clearly a target unfortunately."
AllMight got nervous, wondering is Skylar had anything to do with this. She had been staying in their dormitory for a while now, and no one has noticed anything out of the ordinary with her. She's been hanging out with some of their classmates, especially Adrien and Midoriya. AllMight clenched his fists, hoping that this was nothing more than just a coincidence.
"I'll look through the security systems for a bit to see if I can find anything that might help trace this hacker," Rena Rouge said to them.
"I can help you with that," Snipe said to her, "If you can narrow it down, we can easily find this hacker."
"If it's okay, I'd like to take a look at the security cameras," Rena Rouge said to them, "It might help find anything suspicious much faster."
"Of course. You're allowed to look through them, we would just like the teachers to be here to help you out," Principal Nezu said to her, "Mr. Aizawa, can you stay here for a little while longer? I want to make sure we get down to the bottom of this much sooner."
Mr. Aizawa didn't seem bothered by it as AllMight stood by her side as she looked through the security system.
He just hoped that Rena Rouge understood what she was getting into.
Another amazing chapter!
I like where this is heading, especially with Midoriya and AllMight. Things are starting to stir up with what they've found out recently. Rena Rouge being here I find interesting because she's the one character that I wanted to be there in the sequel. So it's kind of funny that it's only her that came over to help them. I just find it way more interesting that she came over before anyone else. Don't worry about it though, there are other things that will come up. Midoriya and Skylar are finally hero training again...
What's going to happen next??
More to come soon!
