Disclaimer: I do not own The Breakfast Club
Author's Note: Hey everyone, welcome to my first ever fan fiction! Before you start reading it: this fanfic was inspired by millie libri's Breakfast Club fanfic "We Are Not Alone." Be sure to check that one out. Okay, on with the story.
Lots had changed in Andrew Clark's life since he graduated from Shermer High: he and Allison had stuck together, he went to New York for college and she went there with him, they ended up moving back to Shermer after college, they got married in 1990 and had two kids together. On Friday, December 3rd, 1999, Andrew had just gotten off work as a coach for a high school football team in Chicago, Illinois. He went to go pick up the local newspaper from the mailbox on the way home as he did everything day, he normally skimmed through it look at the headlines before putting the paper down and finishing the drive home but today he decided that could wait because for some reason he had a feeling that something bad happened and he wanted to get home as soon as possible. He got home and pulled into the driveway so after and that bad feeling he was confirmed he saw that Allison was outside waiting for him, something she usually never did unless she had important to tell him. Not only that, she had a sorrowful look on her face and she looked like she had been crying for the past half hour. As soon as Andy got out of the car Allison started running towards him, she had tears in her. Andrew hugged Allison and asked her what was wrong.
"Andy, I just got an email from Claire a half hour ago: she told me that John was killed in a motorcycle accident early this morning" Allison told him while barely holding back tears. The news of John's death broke Andrew, "I can't believe it." he said with sadness and shock in his voice. He later sent Claire an email sending her his thoughts over what happened, she responded later that day thanking him. She told him the funeral will be on December 11th and she'll talk to him and Allison in person during the visitation and later on after the funeral service is over. Andy told his mom the news since she met John in the past and really liked him and she was very sad to hear about his death. After that, he called his little brother David to tell him the news and ask him to look after the kids while he and Allison are away during John's funeral. The visitation was on December 10th, there was a fair amount of people there, a few of which they recognized from high school and others they didn't recognize at all. There were two specific people they expected to see at the visitation and both of whom they did see: Claire Standish and Brian Johnson. Neither Andrew nor Allison had seen the two of them in 14 years. They all hugged one another and the four spent hours catching up with each other. There was no love lost between the four old friends, they were all happy to be together again after all these years. Even though it had been over a decade since the four of them had all hung out together, their friendship hadn't diminished one bit and they had just picked up where they left off.
"Long time no see you guys, how've you been doing all these years? What have you been up to?" Andy asked.
"I've been doing really great, Andy, thanks for asking! I'm married now and I have a son named Anthony. For the past few years I've been a science teacher at Lake View High. It's actually really great, it's a lot of fun!" Brian told him.
"That's awesome, Bri. It's good to see you happy with your life!" Allison said.
"Thanks, what have you and Sporto been up to?" Brian asked.
"Well me and Andy have been married since 1990, have two kids: our oldest is our son Matthew and our youngest is our daughter Eleanor. As for my job, I am an artist and I have sold 30 paintings over the past ten years. I'm doing pretty well." Allison told him.
"Awesome, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for one of your paintings." Brian told her.
"I have one of your works in my living room. I couldn't believe it when I found out it was you, you're an amazing artist, Ally!" Claire told her.
"Thanks!" Allison replied.
"What about you, Andy?" Brian said.
"Well obviously like Allison said, me and her are married with kids now, but other than that I've been actually been a high school football coach for the past few years. I actually really enjoy it, I have some really great players on my team and they seem to respect me so that's a bonus." Andrew told him.
"That's nice, I'm happy for you. I'm glad you and Allison have stayed together all these years." Brian told him.
"Me too." Claire chimed in.
"What have you been up to all these years, Claire?" Allison asked.
"Well, me and John stayed together for few extra years, but then I went to California for college and he stayed went to Chicago to start a construction business so we broke up. But as for what I've been up to: I was a fashion designer in San Francisco for eight years, I made a lot of money from that. I got married in '92 and I have two daughters. However, the marriage ended last year because my husband was cheating and then this past June the company I worked at closed and I ended up moving back here with my kids in August." Claire explained.
"Wow, what made you move come back here from San Francisco?" Brian asked.
"I just for some reason felt like I had to come back here, also I missed you guys and hoped you see you all again." Claire told her.
Brian, Andrew, and Allison all smiled when she told them that.
"How'd you find out about John?" Andrew asked.
"An old mutual friend of ours told me. Even though I hadn't seen him for over ten years it was devastating to hear that he was gone." Claire explained. "I hated him at first but I really grew to love him not only as a boyfriend but as an actual friend."
"Yeah, I get that. This is a very sad loss for all of us but I'm glad we have each other again so we can go through it together." Andrew said.
"I agree, it's sad that this is what brought us back together but we should all keep in touch with each other after the funeral. I don't this to happen again where we separate and then reunite when another one of us dies." Brian explained.
"I'd love for us to stick together! Let's all exchange numbers after the funeral." Claire suggested.
"Good idea." Andrew replied.
The funeral took place the next day, they saw more people at the funeral that they recognized such as Carl Reed, Wyatt Donnelly and Keith Nelson. As expected, Andrew's mom was also there to pay her respects. After the service ended Andrew, Allison, Brian and Claire decided to visit John's grave one more time and say their final goodbyes to their fallen friend. They entered the cemetery and looked at some of the headstones, some headstones they recognized to be dead family members and past teachers. Eventually they found John's headstone, they all stood in front of it and Brian spoke up first.
"Hey John, Big Bri here. I don't know if you can hear me but the Breakfast Club is mostly back together. I'm here, Allison's here, Andrew's here and Claire's here, the only one missing is you. You were and still are an extremely important part of our lives and I miss you buddy, we all do."
Brian wiped his eyes after he was done talking. Allison spoke up next:
"Hey John, Allison here. I'm not very great with words but I hope you went on to live a great life after graduation, you deserved the best in life. I think you would be happy to know that me and Andrew stuck together and we'll be celebrating 10 years of marriage next April, we have a son and a daughter together. But enough about me and him, I hope you were able to get your get your life together before you passed, I wish you could be here with us so we could all be back together. I know Brian said this already but you were a very important part of our lives and you will continue to be. Goodbye John, I hope you're in a better place now."
Allison shed a few tears, Andrew comforted her before he spoke up to talk to John:
"Hey John, Andy here. I miss you, I'm going to start off by saying that. I've missed you since graduation and I miss you even more now that you're gone. I want to thank you for helping me find the courage to stand up to my father, if it weren't for you nothing would've changed in my life and I'd be just like my old man by now. In fact none of us would be who we are without you so we all owe you a lot John, thank you for everything. We all miss you."
Andrew started tearing up and Allison put her hand on his shoulder. And finally, Claire spoke up:
"Hey John, Claire here. It's been a while since I heard anything about you and I wasn't to hear that you had died. Even if our relationship didn't last, I never forgot about you and my love for you as a person and as a friend never died. It's heartbreaking that your death is what brought us back together and I wish you could be here with the four of us now. You brought me out of my shell during that day in detention together and you did the same for everyone else as well. You meant the world to us, John, and you still do. I hope you know that. I'll never forget you John, none of us will. Ever."
After Claire finished talking, the four cried together and consoled each other. After they were done, they left the cemetery, gave each other their phone numbers and went their separate ways for now. Andrew, Allison, Brian and Claire would continue to hang out in the following years and the four still hang out every weekend. Andrew and Allison have been happily married for 35 years now and that's not changing anytime soon.
Author's Note: I hope you enjoyed my first fan fiction. I know this was a really sad one to start off with but I'll be sure to write a happier one next time, whenever inspiration strikes me next, that is. Alright, bye!
