It all Falls Apart, Part 4.
Eastern Manchuria
Kamoebas roared as he charged across the Chinese border, breaking down the fences as easily as a child would break down a sandcastle. Kilometers away, the people of a small Chinese village heard the deafening noise from afar, and some gathered on the nearby hill to try and see where it was. From such a Distance, Kamoebas appeared like a slowly moving building against the horizon, if you squinted you could just make out some of his features, but what they could see was the Kaiju coming closer. Another shattering roar swept across the landscape, and the people ducked as it echoed across the landscape. Kamoebas was staring at them all, even from this distance. It was an eerie feeling to be watched by such a massive Creature from that far away, as if some god was staring back from the Abyss.
Kamoebas then began to charge up a ball of energy, but the people of the village did not know that. They just stared at him, they had known so little about the Kaiju due to their relative isolation, why would or should they think ill of this beast? A Few Villagers did get the smart idea that the ominous glow running up the monster's spine could actually be harmful in nature and began to run away, and a few others began to follow, but by then it was too late. The Energy Ball was fired, it sailed through the sky at high speeds, before touching down right in the center of the hill. Instantly most of the villagers were vaporized, with the rest being killed by the resulting shockwave as the small hill was blown apart, igniting a fire on some of the nearby grasses as molten pieces of rock and dirt were hurled about half a kilometer away.
The Few Villagers who took off early ran home, a few stray chunks of molten material had landed in the village, starting a sparse number of fires among it. They Began to yell at the others to run, and as they looked at where the nearby hill used to be, it was now reduced to a smoking Caldera filled with boiling mud and rock where smoke rose from, and as they began to hurry and grab bare essentials (Some Smart Individuals decided to take off with nothing right away). Kamoebas broke into a charge, doing his equivalent of a sprint as he galloped on all fours towards the village. As he crested the caldera, the Kaiju gazed down at the village, the townspeople screamed as he looked down on him, Kamoebas began to breathe out a Flammable gas, and as he let it loose it engulfed most of the village, after a moment he ignited it, the explosion blew apart several homes while igniting a massive fire which spread throughout most of the village in seconds, in the end most people were killed, with those spared being those who fled early on.
Kamoebas turned towards the survivors, who were fleeing by foot on a dirt road, a small amount had piled onto some old trucks, and were trying to make an escape that way. Kamoebas began to follow them, stepping on survivors as he went, however before he could kill those on the trucks he felt the impacts of missiles against him, Kamoebas turned, eyeing up the attacker. Far in the distance, a Pair of Chinese J-15 Flying Shark Aircraft were rapidly approaching his location, as he watched another Pair of Missiles fly at him, he ducked, allowing the missiles to fly past his shell and strike the Dirt Behind him, sending up showers of flame. Kamoebas roared at the oncoming aircraft, which quickly broke formation and let out flares. Despite them not being designed to be used against Kaiju, they did have an interesting effect on Kamoebas however. When he saw them he mistook them for missiles and ducked instinctively, only when he raised his head and saw the flares again did he realize it was a trick. Kamoebas roared again with anger, taking it with salt that he was tricked. The Planes however flew behind the nearby hills and small mountains, meaning they were out of his line of sight. Kamoebas however had a way to get around that.
As the planes flew behind the mountains and Hills, Kamoebas began to charge up his energy ball attack, and once it was charged he fired it straight at the nearest landform, the ball of plasma penetrated the mountain, instantly sending out a splash of molten minerals and rocks before it exploded. The Resulting Explosion blew the mountain clean in half, while it wasn't a tall mountain it had been just steep enough to obscure the view of Kamoebas, but as the dust and fires settled there was a massive hole where the Center of the mountain used to be. Kamoebas roared as the planes flew back into view, he prepared to charge an attack, but strangely these aircraft seemed to split up once again.
Unknowingly to Kamoebas, the Chinese and Russian Operation to halt him at the border had been merely a distraction to Mobilize the PLAAF, which had come up with a plan to deal with Kamoebas. The Goal was to make use of the maneuverability of certain models of Chinese fighter planes in loose formations to hopefully cut losses. Once they began to annoy Kamoebas, they could hopefully lure him back across the Russian Border and into the sea, there wasn't much to do from there, or at least that they planned, but at least he'd be away from important economic centers.
However, Kamoebas had his own plans, he fired up his beams and the Chinese fighter craft dropped flares and began evasive maneuvers. He couldn't figure out the difference between the craft and the flares, and ended up aiming for the flares instead. The Beam ended up vaporizing the streaks of red light and smoke, but the plane got away and came around for another pass, as he watched it with disgust he prepared to fire a Massive Fireball, the energy in his body rushed to his mouth, and as it glowed yellow he felt the harmless impacts of the missiles against him. He didn't care, of course. He just continued charging, and charging, and charging. The Planes just kept peppering him with missiles, and they realized far too late what he was doing.
When it came, it was glorious. Kamoebas turned his head to the ground right beneath him. The Resulting Fireball generated a Massive Storm of heat that shoved him and a good portion of the air around him into the sky, a massive shockwave was generated that struck the nearby planes as the trees nearby burned away to less than ash, the mountain which he just blew a hole through was scorched, with some of it being turned to a glass-like substance Kamoebas landed back on the ground half a kilometer away, snuffing out part of a fire beneath him as he landed. As he stood he gazed into the sky, a Fiery mushroom cloud rose over the landscape, blotting out the sun. The Planes had been destroyed, both by the shockwave and melting of the electronics, which had reduced any chance of survival to zero instantly.
Kamoebas began to walk, climbing up a less uphill part of the mountain, crushing burning trees and smoldering embers until he reached the Top. The Kaiju looked beyond the massive cloud of smoke he had created, beyond the mushroom cloud whose shape was distorting. He let out a toothy smile as he let out a massive roar, the echoes of which reverberated across the landscape.
Then Kamoebas could hear the noises of more planes. The Brunt of the Russian and Chinese Air Forces were rapidly approaching, a Mix of Fighters, attackers and even bombers. They were all fully loaded with weapons, and as they approached Kamoebas let out another roar. The First of them fired their Missiles, while harmless, there were certainly a lot of them. The impact made Kamoebas feel even more angry than he was before, and enraged he began to charge up a beam and quickly fired it at the approaching aircraft, sweeping it across the sky with little effort. The Planes broke formation, and high above the Bombers began their attack run. Kamoebas didn't even notice the planes at their extreme altitude, he could certainly hear them with his enhanced hearing, but he was more focused on the planes attacking him. He didn't even notice as the bombs were dropped right on top of him. The Resulting explosions mostly detonated against the ground next to him, but some hit his shell. The impacts were immense compared to what he felt before, and he fell to the ground, then began to flail around as he rolled down the mountain, then falling and hitting several rocks before hitting the ground. He stood up, eyeing the high up aircraft, they were only distant dots, but that didn't stop him from charging up his beam, the beam struck one of the TU-95s wings, sending it into an uncontrolled dive. The Beam then swept across the other Tu-95, melting off the cockpit as the Headless plane lurched and broke apart.
Kamoebas turned to the oncoming smaller aircraft, a pair of Su-25s flanked by J-15s. This was the first time an international collaboration between militaries took place in a while, and fighting a Kaiju was going to make headlines. Such an operation was unprecedented, and was a sign at least Humanity could work together to fight the very threat they created. Of course, Kamoebas didn't care. He fired a Ball of Energy which went clean through a J-15 and melted it, the ball exploded in the air and the melting and burning slag of what remained of the aircraft fell to the ground. Kamoebas turned toward the other 3 aircraft, which took evasive action. One of the SU-25s came around and fired off a volley of missiles from its rocket pods, which all struck him, as well as a string of fire from the aircrafts cannon. Kamoebas growled with annoyance, he snapped at it as it flew closer to his head, but the aircraft masterfully dodged and banked away, he caught it flying off in the corner of his eye, he prepared a ball of energy but felt the annoying impact of another string of cannonfire against his face, he turned toward the source, that being one of the remaining J-15s, and fired off the ball of energy he had been saving for the SU-25, the ball exploded against the plane and sent melted material all around as there was a catastrophic detonation of the fuel systems. As the debris fell to the ground he trained his gaze on the remaining 2 Su-25s, which were looping around to fly at him and make another attack Run. Kamoebas fired an energy ball at one, which clipped and melted its wing, sending it spiraling into the ground. The Remaining one banked away as it fired the last of its rocket pods, he could tell it was the same expert pilot from before, and as he watched it fly away he began to charge a ball of energy before he heard the rapid oncoming noise of another aircraft. He whipped his head around to see a Trio of Russian Su-34s flying straight at him, and as he watched they fired off a series of missiles that struck him. He roared, firing an energy beam at one and burning it to slag, the rest broke formation, and he used a beam to erase one from the sky.
He watched as the planes broke formation and banked around him, using his beam he sliced one in half, with the melted halves separating completely after a moment and then crashing into the ground. He looked at the remaining SU-34, which was now opening its bomb-bay door and preparing to make a run on him, he fired a ball of energy at it, watching as the plane exploded and flaming remains fell into the ground. He could hear the rolling of tank treads as several Chinese Type-96 tanks rolled down a dirt road nearby and trained their guns on him. Kamoebas felt the impact of the guns as they all fired in near perfect unison, and let out a deafening roar as Light ran up his chest and he prepared another ball of energy. The Tanks Began to hastily reverse as they realized what was coming, but there was nothing they could do as another struck the front of the formation, the explosion destroying about half of them. The Remaining tanks quickly swung around and began to drive away, but a Sweep with his atomic beam fixed the issue as the tanks melted and exploded under the heat.
Kamoebas then looked around, noticing and hearing that soldiers were setting up defenses in the hills while this went on. Kamoebas narrowed his eyes as he stared down one of the hastily assembled offenses on one of the nearby hills. Soldiers trained assault rifles, machine guns and rocket launchers on his position, and as they did they simply saw Kamoebas stare them down, unmoving with the exception of the swinging of his tail. The Kaiju then began to charge up a beam, the soldiers fired their guns, with nothing doing anything particularly useful to help them take him down. One of them brought out a small artillery piece, and began to fire at him, like everything else, however the explosion did nothing to him, and that's when he fired the beam. It swept across the nearest hill quote easily, with it melting a good portion off the mountain, including the soldiers gathered on it, he kept the beam trained across it for a few moments, sending up molten dirt, rock and a spray of explosions as trees and vehicles along with the occasional bit of ammunition ignited. When he let the beam cease the entire side of the mountain had been torn open, with parts of it melted into a glass-like substance and part of it collapsing, with wildfires being spawned around the edges and needless to say anyone mounting a defense had perished.
Then Kamoebas felt the impact against his scales of multiple explosions, he turned a bit and saw the flash of artillery fire on another one of the small mountains, multiple artillery pieces had now been set up, with several older Type-88A Tanks also gathering on a small dirt road on the mountain as well. They all fired in near unison at him, and as Kamoebas stared he felt more rage boil inside him. He began to charge up his beam, and the tanks instantly stopped firing and began to reverse and turn around back onto the road as they realized they were doing nothing and were about to be wiped from the family tree, but in the end it wasn't enough as Kamoebas fired a beam that went clean through some of the artillery and began to drill into the mountain. Trees nearby to the path of the beam caught fire, while the tanks continued to speed down the dirt road as fast as possible trying to escape. One of the surviving trucks also followed them, with some soldiers on foot breaking into a run in order to facilitate their own departure.
Kamoebas would not have that however, for as soon as he drilled halfway into the mountain he began to charge up a ball of energy and as he did the people fleeing panicked, some of the soldiers turned and screamed, while one sat down and just stared, accepting the fate about the befall him. Kamoebas let his full power loose, shooting a ball of energy right through the massive hole he just dug through the mountain. The Ball of energy melted the entrance and when it impacted the end of the tunnel there was a shining beam of light that emerged from the hole in the mountain, and then there was an explosion as the entire top half of it melted, followed by a Fireball expanding from the center. Molten chunks of rock were hurled kilometers into the sky, the escaping soldiers were turned to ashes with their tanks melting into slag. The mountain was blown clean apart as a shockwave emanated out from the explosive center, and when Kamoebas opened his eyes after a moment of closing them he could see the fire dying down, although the forest around him was burning, the fire in the rising mushroom cloud was rapidly vanishing, Kamoebas gazed up, his most powerful explosion yet, easily 30 Kilotons…
He let out a Roar, a booming, echoing, terrible roar, which reverberated across the landscape. The Wind generated put out fires close to him, although most simply kept burning. Kamoebas stared where the mountain used to be, a Massive Crater sat center of it, and although Kamoebas had no recollection of what to connect it to it now resembled moreso a Volcanic Caldera than a proper mountain, although it was by no means a volcano. The Ground at the bottom of the crater was glowing a molten red, with some of the dirt around it now reduced to glass. There were no longer any trees near the base of the mountain at all, with any of them being reduced to ash by the fireball and fiery shockwave, and the trees beyond the base were scorched and burning. Kamoebas walked up to the former mountain, climbing it, the glasslike substance beneath him creaked and partially shattered in places, and as he reached the top he stood and looked down at the crater, his creation, the lava oozing and cooling at its bottom with the signs of the rock and minerals being flash melted, with them being distorted and damaged beyond what any rock normally endures.
Kamoebas roared again, this time victoriously, his victory over humanity would be the start of his Crusade. From now on, he would go across the land, destroying any cities as quickly as possible, maximum damage, maximum casualties, until everyone had been reduced to rubble. As his roar echoed across the landscape, Kamoebas heard another roar, a Distant one, one Kamoebas could have sworn came from a Kaiju he had killed a few days ago.
Gojira, after swimming from Vladivostok, made landfall nearby at Slavyanka (Or what was left of it). Gojira had been shocked at seeing the devastation, the only indicator there had once been a whole town here was the occasional exposed foundation or stuck light pole emerging from the ground. It hadn't been too hard to track Kamoebas, even with his amazing senses he could follow the massive footprints and occasional burned area, Kamoebas must have caused quite the tsunami wave, as he found remains of small boats and debris within the town as well. He kept moving, slowly following the footprints until he noticed massive pillars of smoke rising in the distance. He trotted over, the footprints led to the same location, and as he walked over he began to get a grip of the sheer devastation. A Last stand had been fought here, a desperate attempt to Prevent Kamoebas from entering China and hopefully send him back into the North Pacific Ocean, but that had evidently failed. As Gojira stared at some of the burned areas he could see destroyed tanks, some burnt with their hatches open while others had been reduced to Slag, the metal now resembling nothing like a Tank at all.
As Gojira looked around at the battlefield and scarred tanks he began to notice something else, other sets of footprints belonging to something eerily similar to him. They crossed paths with Kamoebas several times. Goji tracked where they led to, and his eyes settled on what looked like Power lines sticking out of the ground, except Goji could tell something was off, as they were far too raised and at an angle, in addition some appeared to be different sizes and they were too small, with only a few actually being present and none led to anywhere. Goji got closer, and his eyes widened as he gazed upon what remained of Mechagojira.
MechaG had been massacred by Kamoebas, with his body being torn apart in some places. One of his arms had been ripped clear off, with the shoulder area near it completely desecrated, exposing machinery and wires beneath. The Ceramic tiles had been partially damaged as well, and part of the back had presumably been crushed by Kamoebas foot. Gojira sniffed at the mecha, never finding a being so close to him since before. Gojira had maintained none of his memories before his mutation, and he let out a low reptilian sound that sounded like a mix between a Growl and a Purr as he bent down to make sure it was dead. Gojira stood up, his new Dorsal Plates, longer and more spindly, maintained almost none of their former shape, and they lit up a Reddish-Orange almost out of instinct, the light of which lit up some nearby smoke which still persisted in rising into the sky.
Gojira then continued onward, following the footprints as Kamoebas crossed the Chinese border and into southern manchuria. He looked ahead and saw more smoke, and what appeared to be a Mushroom cloud rising over the landscape. Even from here Gojira knew that Kamoebas was likely the cause of both, the Kaiju did seem to have a habit of going overkill. As Gojira watched he heard a deafening roar ring out across the landscape, and even from miles away he could still hear it well. Kamoebas had evidently beaten the Local Military forces, and was proclaiming himself King, as if this battle made him special, even though Gojira, Komodithrax, and Rodan had all fought the military before (And Won) Although Gojira did not know of the feats of those other Kaiju, he still thought Kamoebas as no more powerful thanks to it.. Gojira, now getting enraged by the Kaiju who attempted to kill him proclaiming himself victor, let out a response roar. It was as loud as the roar Kamoebas just let loose, and there was another roar back as Kamoebas responded with anger.
Gojira began to rush toward Kamoebas, stomping over trees that Kamoebas did not already trample. It was miles and miles before Gojira reached Kamoebas, and as he ran he spotted the burnt out remains of a small village, which Kamoebas had torched. As he got even closer he could see trees burning and some had been flattened by a massive shockwave. Gojira finally was in sight of the Kaiju, who stood on top of a Small hill, which Gojira realized was the Crater the Kaiju had just etched into the Earth thanks to his Atomic Energy Spheres.
When the Two Clashed, they nearly produced a Shockwave that emanated from them, with the sheer force being enough to crack the ground and produce a wind, the 2 Kaiju grappled, with Gojiras New Arms he was capable of going claw to claw with the massive Turtle, and was doing pretty well, since he was managing to hold Kamoebas back despite him still having an edge in upper body strength. Gojira bit into the Kaiju's arm, and Kamoebas let out a roar of pain as Gojira quickly stepped back, There were toothmarks in the Kaijus arm which gently oozed blood, and as Goji watched Kamoebas let out a Snarl and rushed toward him, Gojira attempted to sidestep but Kamoebas caught him and plowed into him, pushing him over and sending him scrambling across the ground, he got up, but Kamoebas rammed into him again and pinned him down.
Gojira felt the Kaiju charging up a Fireball in an attempt to end the battle early, but Goji simply charged up his Dorsals and let out a Weak Pulse, which lifted Kamoebas about Twenty Meters off the ground, that wasn't much, but it was enough to make him lose his grip and drop him onto the flat and scorched dirt. Gojira quickly got up, looking at Kamoebas who also quickly scrambled to his feet. Gojira quickly bit down on the Kaijus hand, Kamoebas attempted to scratch at him with the same hand but Gojira bit down hard, and there was a Cracking noise as he hit something important. Kamoebas let out a roar of pain, and he managed to pull his hand free of Gojiras mouth but not without creating significant lacerations in the process.
Gojira stared at Kamoebas as he briefly retreated, the Kaijus arm was hanging by his side, and the Hand was limp. Blood dripped from the extensive wounds and onto the ground, and the stare in Kamoebas eyes was nothing but Pure, Blind Rage and hatred. Kamoebas quickly began to charge up his Atomic Beam, and Gojira did the same, an Orange-ish light lit his spinal plates, which quickly became a yellow and then Pale White Glow. They both fired them at exactly the same time, and the resulting beam clash was one of power and ferocity. The Beams met over a destroyed dirt road, and instantly as soon as they met the dirt was thrown up and away as part of the ground under it melted. The Clash produced an intense burst of wind that put out or redirected the nearby fires as the burned trees swayed. The Clash Lasted 16 long seconds before there was a massive explosion as too much energy built up in the center. Both Kaiju were thrown back as the shockwave and fireball quickly reached them, the ground melted and sent splashing as if it were water, only rather it was molten rock. As Gojira stood up he could see the lava-filled crater with scorch marks protruding from it, most of the nearby trees had been destroyed completely, with occasional burnt fragments of wood around, a Smaller Mushroom cloud rose from the crater.
Gojira kept looking, and on the other side of the crater he could see Kamoebas. The Kaiju had a scowl on his face, and as he looked he could see Kamoebas charge him. Gojira did the same, although he was faster and as he leapt over the crater he plowed straight into the Kaiju, sending Kamoebas tumbling back as he landed in front of him. He got up well before the Turtle-like Kaiju could rise to his knees, and as Kamoebas began to rise he bit onto his neck. The Kaiju let out a screeching like noise as Gojira began to drag him by the neck, dropping him onto the ground harshly as the Kaiju scrambled, flailing onto his knees.
He let out a Roar as Kamoebas rose, Kamoebas did the same, and as the Kaiju charged at each other Gojira realized too late Kamoebas was bringing his arm down. The Result was Gojira being slammed hard into the ground, spraying up a mass of dust and rock that settled over the immediate area. Gojira quickly tried to rise, but before he could Kamoebas brought his foot down on him, Gojira was slammed right back into the ground, and as he did he heard Kamoebas do a victory roar. That angered him greatly, There was no way that damn turtle was doing that while he still lived.
Gojira quickly looked up at Kamoebas, and all he could see was his shoulder but for him that was plenty enough, his Dorsal Plates lit up a Reddish-Orange, and as Gojira fired the beam Kamoebas realized far too late what was happening. Kamoebas body was thrown off Gojira by the beam, with it grazing and puncturing into parts of his shoulder, another pained roar echoed across the landscape as he ceased his firing. Kamoebas scrambled to get up with another Bloody wound in his body, and Gojira began to realize that he too had his wounds, with his back being scratched up by Kamoebas when he did his victory roar.
Goji began to realize the fight had dragged on for quite a while now, and both Kaiju were getting seriously drained and injured, he had to finish this before it killed him. Gojira quickly began to charge up his beam and fired at Kamoebas, who countered with his own beam. Like before both beams stalemated in the middle. The resulting explosion produced a shockwave, which while weaker than before caused them both to falter. Kamoebas almost immediately began to charge up a Ball of Energy, and then by the time Gojira noticed it was too late as the Ball of Energy Struck his side, the resulting explosion caused a great deal of pain and caused him to fall and roll onto the ground.
The Impact of the Energy Ball caused a Painful sensation in Gojiras Body, with a massive wound being put near his ribs. Gojira stood up, his dorsals were still lit up, but were a weaker, more red color. He was draining a great deal of energy, and he had to reach the sea in order to refill it or finish the fight now. Gojira quickly began to charge up his beam, his Dorsals Grew Brighter as before, but this time they became an even more pale white color as the light lit up the landscape around him. Gojiras resulting beam melted the land under it as he fired, The Beam headed straight for Kamoebas, who had charged and fired another energy ball. The Ball of Energy and Beam clashed, with the Ball stopping as the Energy beam collided with it. Lightning flashed around it as the clash intensified, and the ball began to reverse course and then flew back at Kamoebas. Kamoebas eyes widened as the Ball of energy flew back and then impacted his chest.
The Ball of energy hit the chest and instantly dispersed, heated, boiling blood flew out from the wound and the beam Gojira fired followed suit. Kamoebas screamed as the Beam subsided, the explosion from the Ball covered the area with smoke, dust and fire. When the smoke cleared, Kamoebas was laying on the ground, smoke billowed from his chest where blood flowed onto the ground. Kamoebas was still alive, but Gojira could see he was out of commision now.
Gojira approached the downed Kaiju, flipping him onto the chest and staring him in the eye. Gojira could see only Malice, rage, and weakness, and a bit of regret, perhaps regretting he had lost this battle. Gojira let out a Roar, a Victory Roar, right in his face, Kamoebas simply stared with enough hatred to make Gojira think that Kamoebas had gone insane, and given the Kaijus behavior perhaps he had.
Gojira then walked off, letting the Kaiju heal, and hopefully change. He didn't have the energy to land the killing blow most likely, and with his body scarred with wounds and with a slow pace he returned to the sea, swimming off where his Spines once again disappeared into the ocean.
Seattle
Near Simultaneously with the Battle between Gojira and Kamoebas, Rodan awakened from his perch of a Portland Skyscraper and began to fly North. The US Military tracked him moving Towards Seattle, flying back over a Series of Volcanoes that were a part of the Cascades. This caused an Intense stir and discomfort within the US Government, since Rodan had decimated parts of the Portland area any more damage would be straining the country even more. Seattle was an important economic center, and if Rodan caused the same level of damage he did to Portland it would probably spell the start of the economic downfall of the nation.
So air units not destroyed by Rodan earlier were mobilized, the National guard as well, the army was mobilized and any Naval units were prepared and sent just off the coast where they could be used to shoot him down. There wasn't much hope, but with the sheer number of vehicles present perhaps it might be possible to make Rodan Turn back. It was solid, compared to the hastily and weakly assembled forces in Portland.
So the last thing they needed was a Second Kaiju coming ashore in the exact same place.
General Ryan of the US Military stood in the temporary command center in seattle, Tents had been placed up with great haste, with field equipment as well. Rodans path further south had been a slow one, he had stopped multiple times overnight, which was strange. It had taken him 2 days to get even remotely close to the city. Rodan hadn't destroyed much in those few days, perhaps a couple of neighborhoods and the occasional gas and ev charging station, but that was it. By the time today had rolled around, the battle of the ages between Kamoebas and Gojira had begun, and seemingly in sync with them Rodan was back on course for Seattle.
The US military had pretty good defenses set up, some had been set up before Rodan had even rampaged through Portland, given they had no idea whether he would go south or north once he awoke from his little nap it had been a wise move to set up defenses around the city. Since then defenses had only been bolstered, with Surface-to-Air Missile sites as well as emplacements with other air defense weapons along with tanks. Air Patrols were set up as well, which included AWACS aircraft to help triangulate rodans trajectory better if he got too close to the city.
"General!" One of the Majors said, which he recognized quickly.
"Major Conrad." He said, "I trust the final emplacements are in place."
"Yes sir." The Major said, "We are just finishing up setting up Wilkeson Defense group, Greenwater defense group finished setting up a while ago, civilians in both towns have been evacuated to the city centers in Settle in Tacoma, McChord reports 2 additional F-35s have been procured from other air bases across the country and are ready to assist, in addition while talks with the navy have gone smoothly we need time to arm and refill most naval ships at Kisap, they might be able to send Fighter support but for now we just have 1 Arleigh-Burke Class off Seattle's coast."
"Just one?" The General asked, "Of all the ships there they could spare, they sent just one?"
"The Navy said most were training in the Pacific at the time, so most aren't exactly available at the moment." He said.
"Whatever the case, we need to make sure everything is online befo-" He started, before being cut off by one of the radio operators in the tent.
"Sir, AWACS reports Rodan now Inbound, 20 minutes until he reaches Seattle." The Radio operator said, General Ryan rushed over, looking at a Radar interface on one of the screens. There was a Small but certain blip south of the Point of Origin, and he pretty quickly figured out the Blip was representing Rodan. General Ryan could see several other blips on the radar, all of them being significantly smaller than those of Rodan.
"Are those friendlies?" He asked.
"Yes, we have a squadron of Four F-16s, the F-35s are preparing to launch as we speak." The Major said, The General nodded.
"Rodan is closing in on Olympia, our fighters should be there within a minute." The Operator said.
Olympia. The General thought, Capital of Washington state. He was lucky his family lived in Montana, and were nowhere near any Kaiju. A lot was on the line today, and so what they did had to count, either them, or the hundreds of thousands taking shelter in the city.
Overhead of Olympia, about 4 F-16s loaded to the brim with weapons flew with radar locks on their target. Rodan had closed in rapidly, and left behind his sluggish pace and was heading straight for Seattle. The F-16s acquired quick locks on their target, and pretty quickly several missiles flew at Rodan. The Kaiju took intense evasive maneuvers, which got him out of the way pretty quickly. The Missiles smashed into the woodlands outside the city, spraying up fire and explosions where they landed. The Planes banked as Rodan flew past them, heading straight into the city. The Planes quickly began to follow suit as Rodan hit the outskirts of Olympia, flying low to the ground where his sheer speed and size generated immense winds. Unknown to most of Humanity, or the US Government, Rodan had grown while in Portland, not by a lot, but still enough to generate wind, and his shape was now also pumping a lot more air to his underside as he flew, which resulted in near hurricane force winds under him. The Roofs of some houses were ripped clean off as he flew, and as One of the Planes zeroed in behind him and got a Radar Lock Rodan took notice, he flew towards the Washington state representatives building, with its iconic rotunda structure it was hard not to notice it, that was unless you were a pilot battling a massive flying kaiju. As the missile was fired Rodan quickly pulled a quick evasive, the missile lost its lock and struck the Rotunda, causing a Massive Explosion, the F-16 following tried to bank but it was unable to and struck the building, causing another building. The Rotunda quickly began to collapse, and one of the pilots muttered some harsh language under his breath aimed at Rodan.
The Remaining 3 F-16s regrouped as Rodan continued his path of destruction Northwest, where the Kaiju then began to loop back around towards the Center of Olympia, he flew over a Small Lake at the center of the city, where he landed on a Bridge. Billows of Ash and flame rose from where the Capital building of Olympia used to be, and Rodan let out a loud screech that echoed for miles. One of the F-16s fired a Missile, and Rodan quickly launched himself into the air as the Missile struck the bridge, causing an explosion as it rattled. Rodan Flew and landed on one of the buildings next to the burning Rotunda building, letting out another screech as a F-16 locked on.
"Hold your fire!" The Lead Pilot said, but it was no use because the Missile was already fired, and as quickly as it happened Rodan launched himself again into the air as the missile struck the building, causing another explosion as the building partially blew apart, the offending F-16 circled around, now following the flying Rodan, who flew so low and quickly that his flight was enough to launch cars into the air behind him, A Small Honda Civic that was lofted ended up striking the F-16 on the nose, instantly sending the F-16 into a Death Spiral that resulted in it crashing into the ground on a now damaged home, causing a explosion as the F-16s kept their distance, maintaining their Locks on the Kaiju.
The Kaiju kept going Northeast, entering the town of Lacey, one of the Planes fired a Missile but Rodan banked quick enough to dodge, causing the Missile to strike a forested creek and explode, igniting a Small Forest Fire. The Planes continued to follow him as he took on a More Northern Direction, as Rodan flew over the Water and Over Anderson Island, They began to fire at Rodan once again, this time with the Missiles Striking the Kaiju, unfortunately this didn't do much but Bother Rodan, the Kaiju flew low over the uninhabited island, destroying some Pine Trees and one of the missiles ended up missing, the explosion mixed with the wind to cause a Miniature firestorm.
The Kaiju kept flying over the Island, before returning to the sea. By now he was heading back to Dry land, and as he did he flew over Tacoma, a City Horrifyingly close to Seattle. The Kaiju flew over Titlow beach at such a low altitude he nearly grazed the buildings, the F-16s maintained their distance due to the sheer amount of Debris he lofted into the air. Some Explosions detonated as Cars had their fuel tanks ignite, and as Rodan kept flying one of the planes made the mistake of firing a Missile, Rodan banked away, and the stray missile struck an apartment complex, causing a Massive Explosion that drilled a hole clean through the building and causing an explosion that sent pieces flying hundreds of feet away.
"Out of missiles." One of the remaining pilots announced.
"1 Missile left." The Other Pilot responded, he took aim at Kamoebas and fired, the Kaiju was unable to avoid this time and took a direct hit on his back. They cheered briefly until the Kaiju, partially unbalanced by the explosion, struck a Small office Building, flying straight through it as he landed on the other end, the Building quickly began to collapse as Rodan Screeched, flapping his wings.
"Reinforcements have arrived." The Radio Buzzed, 4 F-35s fired their missiles at the Downed Rodan, the Kaiju reeled as the Missiles struck him as Smoke and Flame Obscured their view.
"Did we get him?" The Radio Buzzed, one of the F-16 pilots looked down, trying to see through the Smoke as he circled, when it cleared he was left shocked by what he saw.
Rodan had not only survived, but was nearly completely unscathed. He ended up crashing because the sheer force of the explosion unbalanced his flight, not because he had any sort of Injury. The Kaiju gazed up at him, and he saw pure fire in his eyes. The Massive flying Kaiju let off a Fireball which struck an F-35, sending into a fiery spiral into a nearby shopping building.
"BREAK!" The Leader said as a Fireball took out another F-35, pretty quickly the planes began to retreat to Seattle as the Kaiju lifted off and continued its pursuit. They had failed to stop Rodan, and Seattle was about to know hell on Earth because of it.
He had Failed.
"General Ryan!" The Radio operator said, "Reports that 4 Planes have been downed in total, Massive Damage to Olympia and Tacoma, Rodan will be here in 2 Minutes."
"Good god…" Ryan said, looking at the Radar Display. The Dot that was Rodan was now pretty close to them, with one of the local Radars being the focal point of this particular reading. He could see the tank barrels swing around on some M1 Abrams nearby. In the Distance, on the shining sea, he could just make out the silhouette of the USS Jack H. Lucas, Which was only re-assigned to the Nearby Naval base last year, that, and the Newly Commissioned USS Patrick Gallagher. Together, they made up the entirety of the bases collection of Arleigh-Burke Class Destroyers, each assigned in 2026 and 2027 respectively. There had plans to requisition the USS Ted Stevens and Harvey C Barnum Jr For the base as well, but that wasn't slated until mid 2029, nearly 9 months from now. The Base did boast an impressive complement of attack submarines and Aircraft carriers, but most were at sea as he found out too late, and were on exercise off the coast of Hawaii.
Suddenly, he heard a terrible and far distant screech that made him nearly jump out of his skin. He grabbed some Military-Grade Binoculars off the table, and quickly took a look through them. Of course, as he expected, he could see a distant, fast approaching shape. It was Rodan, no question, he could see the Reddish-Orange Stripes of the Kaiju and massive wings from here.
"Commence firing!" He yelled.
Around Seattle, a Network of hastily assembled Surface-To-Air Missile sites began popping off their missiles one-by-one, the USS Jack H. Lucas Began to Fire off its own Missiles, with its CIWS cannon training on Rodan and firing, Rodan Dived, flying between the Streets and closing the distance between him and the generals position in an instant. Nestled in Denny Park, they had quite the view of the city skyline, and he watched as the Missiles trailing Rodan followed him into the Cityscape. He groaned internally as the Agile Kaiju easily outmaneuvered the missiles, with some striking the tops of skyscrapers. The Explosions blew some glass clean off the buildings, others digging in and causing massive explosions which tossed debris and chunks of concrete onto the street. One of the skyscrapers began to partially collapse, with debris falling down the side onto the street, causing something down below to explode.
General Ryan looked at Rodan as he flew, the Kaijus movements were agile, and he was fast, it didn't fly directly over them, but he could feel the wind from him as he soared past. The Kaiju was truly a force of nature. The General watched as he flew, and he began to realize there were some civilians on the streets.
"Cease firing!" He yelled into the radio, but it was too late. One of the F-35s had fired a Missile at Rodan, as had one of the F-16s, he watched as Rodan flew next to the famous Space Needle and pulled a sudden maneuver that caused the missiles to lose their lock and strike the building, one of them missed, zooming into the distant hills and striking the forest, one however struck the buildings structure, just under the main deck, the explosion blew the entire support that connected the 2 clean apart, and as he watched with horror the building began to collapse. The Space Needle, Icon of the city, took less than 18 seconds to come down, with only a fourth of the main structure remaining close to intact and the upper part being completely pulverized, a Small Ash cloud rose up from where the base of the building was, and he could see Rodan Circle back around, heading straight for the city.
"Don't let him reach the city center again!" He yelled into the radio, but he quickly realized he had underestimated the sheer Speed of Rodan, in only about 20 seconds he had closed the distance to the Skyscrapers, and using a Talon he caught one of the F-35s in his hand. He watched as the Plane nearly completely crumpled under his strength, and then Rodan hurled what was left of the fighter into one of the skyscrapers, causing an explosion as it crashed into him.
Suddenly however a Missile actually struck Rodan, this one came fast and from the Sea. The USS Jack H. Lucas had finally got a good hit in. The Sheer force of the Missile unbalanced Rodan and caused him to crash into a skyscraper at full force. The Kaiju nearly went clean through, and he ended up getting stuck on the other end. Rodan tried to get out of the building, but the Destroyer, Now in Full Range, began to pepper Rodan with its main gun. The Warship had advanced significantly towards the coast and was bringing the full force of its weapons upon the Kaiju, with it now firing Anti Ship Missiles as it reloaded and then fired its Main gun again. The Weapons all struck their Mark and the building began to collapse on top of Rodan. Pieces of the skyscraper crumbled down as the building fell, its construction quickly giving way under the sheer amount of damage it had taken, enduring punishment no building was ever supposed to. The Naval Ship ceased firing as the building finished collapsing, and General Ryan heard Cheers ring out from the Soldiers. The Jack H. Lucas Blew its Foghorn, which sounded across the area like a Kaiju Roar in itself. The General smiled, even he believed that the Kaiju couldn't have survived THAT level of Damage.
"We've done it!" He called out, he stared at the Seattle Skyline, there were burning holes in the buildings, at least 2 had collapsed and the Space Needle had fallen, but so what? They saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
The Cheers continued as he heard someone pop a Bottle of Champagne, and he thought about joining them despite the implications of drinking while on Duty. That was until he noticed the rubble that had buried Rodan was Moving.
"This isn't over!" He called out, the soldiers quieted down and got back into positions with nervousness. The Planes circled back around, with an additional one joining the formation, having been launched late from the air force base.
Suddenly, there was an Explosion from the rubble that buried Rodan, a Horrific Screech rang out from across the landscape, with the soldiers all looking at it with horror. Ryan was shaking as the Rubble was thrown clear away. Some impacted other skyscrapers, damaging the glass and structures of the other buildings,
"General, the USS Jack H. Lucas Is reporting strange Sonar activity." One of the Majors said.
"Not now." General Ryan told him, looking at the Debris being thrown clear as Rodan rose. There was almost no scratch on the Kaiju at all, and he was essentially uninjured by the thousands of tons of stuff dropped on him.
"Sir, these readings indicate that Another Kaiju may be moving towards the city from the sea." The Major finally spilled, and Ryan snapped his head at him as if he just said a curse.
"What do you mean by another Kaiju?" He asked, ignoring Rodans' Screeching calls.
"The Sonar readings and Buoys are picking up something approaching the city from the water, and it seems like it fits the size and shape of a Kaiju." He said. The eyes of the general widened.
"When will it be here-" He asked, before hearing a Massive Bellowing noise. He snapped his head towards it, he saw a Massive Kaiju climbing up onto the Helicopter deck of the USS Jack H. Lucas, The Destroyer didn't have the rear armament to deal with it, and he silently cursed the US Navy for not keeping the Sprurance in service long enough to deal with this thing. He gazed at the new Kaiju, studying its features. It resembled Komodithrax, but was significantly smaller, its Scales were more of a Gray Color, with Spikes running down its back and large fangs. It was probably over 90 feet long, and walked on 4 legs.
He watched as it fully climbed onto the rear deck of the ship, putting its front legs on the superstructure as it climbed up. Part of the Superstructure deformed under the monster's weight, and as he watched the Kaiju climbed forward of the ship. Rodan continued making screeching noises as he flapped his wings, the other Kaiju now gripped the Mast of the ship, and it shook under his weight. As He watched, the mast broke off, and the Kaiju jumped off the ship and began making for shore.
Rodan fired a Fireball at the Monster the exact second it jumped off, which hit and penetrated the forward superstructure of the Destroyer, causing a massive explosion which blew off some Radar detection equipment and ignited a massive fire in the ship's hull. The Offending Kaiju swiftly swam toward the shoreline, and Rodan flew up just as the Kaiju leapt onto the shoreline and tried to bite him, the Offending Kaiju missed by a Large margin as Rodan flew between Skyscrapers, shattering their glass and raining it down n the streets, including the new Monster, who was unaffected by the small shards.
Rodan kept flying between skyscrapers, making swipes at the Monster, who reared up to bite up. The General saw Rodan quickly fly into the monster, sending both of them into a nearby skyscraper, taking out a large portion of the building. He saw Rodan breathe fire at the Kaiju, but its armor absorbed it as easily as a Sponge absorbs Water, and he saw its Dorsal Spines light up as the Fire Contacted its Body.
"It's like Gojira!" One of the soldiers exclaimed.
"No, it's not." He said, he knew a lot about Kaiju, and he could tell something very different was up. "Look at the spines, they are lighting up because of Rodans Attack, as if he is absorbing and channeling Rodans energy through them, he isn't generating it on his own, like Gojira."
The Soldier nodded, the Newer Kaiju let out a Burst of Fire once Rodan had finished, sending Rodan sprawling onto the street. The Kaiju jumped onto him, and Rodan, panicking, began to take off. The Kaiju clawed at him, making sure to stay attached. Rodan, screeching, flew into a building, sending them both onto the ground where they both got up and got right back at it.
It was almost entertaining to watch if the 2 weren't wrecking downtown Seattle with their theatrics. As he watched Rodan missed a Fireball, taking out part of an Already damaged office building and sending heated debris to the ground.
"Everyone evacuated, right?" He asked.
"Everyone is in either basements, underground lots or the most secure rooms they can find, as well as a fair chunk of people who just left the city." The Major said, he nodded, the amount of devastation the 2 were causing was truly immense, and as he watched the Smaller Kaiju was thrown into a Office building, the same one that was just damaged. The Skyscraper began to collapse, with the small Kaiju hastily making sure to get out of the way of it, the massive ash cloud blanketed the streets and obscured the view as the Kaiju were caught up in it, but he could see flashes of Orange as the 2 battled it out, a Fireball was sent sailing through the air and struck yet another office building, starting a Fire on one of the upper floors.
Suddenly, there was a Screech as the Smaller Kaiju was thrown clean from the Smoke and landed on its back, it scrambled to its feet, and as he watched the Monster quickly ran back into the sea with a Massive Clawmark on its Back. He watched it swim away, Rodan Flew Up and perched on one of the buildings, with the Kaijus talons shaking it and sending Debris cascading down.
"Looks like Ole Rodan Here won." He said, as he watched the F-35s began to fire at Rodan Again, it seemed like they had gotten Reinforcements, and without telling him either.
"What the Hell?" He asked the Major, who shrugged.
"The Government has informed us that we need to Destroy all Monsters within the City, including Rodan, we got backup I think." The Major reported.
"Why wasn't I informed of this?" He asked.
"The Orders were directly from the higher ups, higher up than you at least." The Major reported.
"Damnit!" He said, Rodan fired a Fireball at one of the F-35s, the Plane Exploded and melted as he crashed into one of the skyscrapers, igniting another fire. Rodan took off as the Planes Pursued him, flying towards the now nearly crippled US Navy Destroyer, the Missiles fired towards him missed as he quickly banked away, they struck the Destroyer near its Main gun, the explosions ripped through the ship as all 3 impacted, then something important blew up and the ship lurched as another explosion emerged from the Deck. The Ship started to take on a list a the crew deployed lifeboats and abandoned it, a horrific groaning noise emerged from her hull too, and as he watched Rodan flew back towards the Skyscrapers, catching a Recently deployed AH-64 with his talons and sending the broken helicopter into a spin where it hit a damaged skyscraper, causing another explosion. Rodan came back around, the 3 pursuing F-35s all attempting to fire missiles saw them all miss and strike office buildings, dealing more collateral damage to the city. Rodan fired a Fireball back at them, catching a F-35 off guard and causing it to explode midair, raining debris onto a highway.
The 2 aircraft broke off, circling around and attempting to flank Rodan, but the Kaiju had none of it, as he began to fly back into the city and breathed out a load of fire onto the streets, catching some civilians by surprise and roasting them, the street was completely set ablaze as some Cars Detonated as their Gas Tanks Caught Fire. Rodan suddenly put on the brakes as he flew, and one of the F-35s, the plane exploded against his scales as the fire was whipped into a firestorm by the sheer wind of his movements, Rodan kept breathing fire into the exposed interiors of buildings, causing parts of them to explode. The Kaiju looked around, the remaining F-35 was coming around, and as it did it found itself faced with a fireball. The Plane melted and exploded midair, with debris striking a nearby office building, starting yet another fire which Rodan helped spread by breathing even more fire into the interior. Billows of Smoke rose from throughout downtown Seattle, along with the Navy Warship at sea, which was burning.
The Soldiers were shocked to say the least, their plan had completely failed, and the Government wanted them to PRESS the attack further?
"I'll be leaving now, since I'm supposedly expendable." The General said, climbing into a vehicle, the driver looked at him, and he simply nodded.
"Have fun fighting your fire demon." He told the Major, who simply stood at the Task infront of him.
A Promotion was not Worth this.
Off the Coast of Baffin Island.
After the incident a few days prior with the Edaphosauruses, the Coast Guard, as well as UNGCC, were working in Tandem to track the now Half-Dozen Kaiju roaming around in the waters of Northern Canada. The Result was one of the most ambitious operations the UNGCC had undertaken yet, because while tracking Kaiju may sound easy, the Ocean was a big place, and many could be under it and thus invisible to their eyes. Sonar Buoys and Tsunami warning Buoys could help track them, but they weren't a good bet given how sparse they were.
Dr Serizawa gripped the handlebars of one of the helicopters as it set down near what used to be the Mutagen facility, and he could instantly see the elements had not treated it well, much of the main building had been destroyed, with the storage shed destroyed by the wind, most of its walls knocked clean over and the contents of its barrels spilled. Some of the cargo containers which had been intended to help further build up the base before the projects cancellation had been destroyed too, with them knocked over and partially crumpled, Wooden crates lay completely shattered all over the ground, and from what Serizawa could see the small, temporary airfield outside the base had been completely trashed, with its hangers destroyed and its Temporary ATC Tower knocked down.
This wasn't just the wind that did this in a Year.
Serizawa got out of the helicopter, but the blades remained spinning. This was going to be quick, and no chances would be taken. As he began to look around he noticed some of the outer fencing was more damaged than others, he walked over to it, examining the fence. It had been clearly trampled down by something large, he examined some of the concrete that made up the ground, he could see some clear claw marks on it, and looking at the fence he could see what appeared to be areas where claws had torn up part of it as well.
"Do you see this?" He asked one of his assistants. The Assistant walked over and examined the stretch of fence as well.
"It looks like something tore it apart, or at least tried too." The Assistant said.
"Yep, I'm guessing the Edaphosaurus or Gorgonopsids hadn't fully mutated at this point, and this was their escape." Serizawa said, he looked beyond the fences and at the expanse of snow, he could see some decayed footprints leading through some exposed patches of Mud and Dirt, although most of them had been erased by snowfall, he could see they were likely from the Edaphosaurus.
"Sir, come look at this!" He heard a soldier say, he rushed over, and when he saw what the soldier said his first thought was a mix of awe and fear.
A 35 Meter Deep pit just inside the base, on a patch of dirt. He looked down, masses of Dirt and snow were piled at the bottom, but what he could see was a Half Buried Barrel of Mutagen, and from here he could piece pretty well together what had happened to cause this.
"That Barrel must have linked into the ground and got into a bunch of fossils, I'm guessing they dug their way up and escaped the base before growing to full size." He said. The Soldier nodded, his assistant ran up to him and looked at the Pit.
"Deep pit." His Assistant muttered.
Suddenly he got a crackle of his Walkie Talkie, brought it out and began to speak into it.
"Serizawa here, what is going on?" He asked.
"Serizawa, we need to Evac right now, we have on very good information that the Edaphosaurs are now attacking a Cargo ship nearby and we need to assist in dealing with them."
Serizawa was admittedly nervous as the Helicopter flew over the Sea, the wind from the rotors whipping up waves as it flew towards the Cargo ship. If he looked at the right angle out the window of the chopper he could just make out the silhouette of the Cargo ship far in the distance, and as it got closer he could make out at least Four Sails which also heavily resembled the Edaphosaurus.
"We've confirmed 4 hostiles." The Pilot said, "The Cargo ship is a Bulk carrier, it's mostly hauling grain right now."
Grain? Serizawa thought, why would they zero in so much on a grain ship?
"More reinforcements are in route, we already had some Apaches on Standby, ETA 3 minutes." The Pilot said, Serizawa nodded as the Door to the chopper swung open, and a soldier took hold of a machine gun and aimed it at the nearest of the Kaiju. They were holding pretty good altitude above the water, and were likely outside of range in case any of them got any ideas about trying to snap at them. He got his answer when one jumped out of the water and fell short of the chopper, its snapping jaws catching nothing but air as it fell back into the water.
"Machine Gun ineffective." The Soldier said.
"Rocket pods." The Co-Pilot said, the helicopter maneuvered quickly into position, Serizawa held onto a handrail as the rocket pods fired off as streams of missiles hit the water next to one of the Edaphosaurus, the creature dived deeper into the water, its sail vanishing as it avoided the more powerful attack.
"Reinforcements inbound!" One of the soldiers said, through the open door Serizawa could see 3 AH-64 attack helicopters rapidly approaching them, and as he watched one of the Edaphosaurus jumped up onto the deck of the ship and began chasing one of the crew members on deck. One of the AH-64s began to fire with its main gun at the creature, who rushed forward and broke through the superstructure at the back of the ship as shots peppered behind it, the AH-64 fired its missile pods as the creature dived back into the water, the rockets struck the back of the ship, causing a massive explosion as the superstructure was blown apart and a considerable part of the stern exploded.
"You're doing more damage than those things are!" Serizawa exclaimed.
As he watched the Edaphosaurus all dived as missiles struck the water, causing explosions along the surface as they all dived.
"Four of them…" He said, at least 4 of these Kaiju, another 2 more friendly ones roaming around the Canadian Wilderness, but for how long would they be friendly, and what if they were MORE of these things they hadn't found?
Things were falling apart.
US Astronomical Observatory, Mauna Kea, Hawaii
The Mauna Kea Observatory was built on top of a Mountain of the same name, so far above sea level that it sat above cloud cover and in a fairly isolated area it was an obvious choice for a Observatory. Mostly utilized for observing nearby Stars and Near-Earth objects as well as Planes and Moons, it was a pretty famous facility all things considered, although it was being made outdated by newer facilities which had come online over the last decade.
An Astronomer sat looking at a Set of Data and Photos, the Telescopes were currently tasked with observing NEOs (Near Earth Objects) and Kuiper Belt objects. As he looked at the pictures he heard one of his friends approaching him.
"Hear about the Kaiju attack in Seattle?" He asked.
"Nope." He responded.'
"Well, apparently Rodan and a New Kaiju devastated the City." He said, "The New Kaiju is being called 'Rhedosaurus' and apparently Rodan is still devastating the city still, the lost contact with everyone in the city."
"That's rough." he said, "Hey, can you mind looking at this with me?"
His friend examined the Photo and Dataset, "What is this?"
"It's from the Kuiper belt survey." He said, "One of the Moving Objects in the image is returning a Semi Major Axis that indicates an Earth-Crossing orbit."
"So you accidentally caught a NEO instead of a Distant Dwarf Planet?" His friend asked.
"Not exactly." he responded, "Looking at the calculations, its Perapsis is inside the orbit of Venus, but for the Apoapsis it returned a Figure that was beyond the Oort cloud and likely beyond the orbital influence of the sun."
"So you caught an Interstellar object?" His friend asked, "That's insane, do you have any Idea how rare that is?"
"Yep." he said, looking at the Set of Data, "I even ran calculations based on its trajectory for its point of origin, it originates somewhere near the Orion Nebula, if true this could be an insane visitor."
"We need to report this!" His friend said, "This will make headlines!"
He nodded, even as his friend ran to tell the others, but as he did he gave a glance at the photo, this was supposed to be a major and grand discovery…
…So why did he feel like this was the start of something horrible?
