Peter was leading Harry Osborn through the halls of SFIT again, showing him around to his classes. And then he leads him to the labs. He walked in and saw everyone was doing nothing superhero-related so they could speak in the open.
"Hey, guys, this is Harry Osborn. The guy I was telling you about." Peter introduced him to the group.
"Hey." Harry greeted as he made his way inside.
"Osborn?" GoGo was surprised to hear. "Related to-"
"Norman Osborn is my dad," Harry confirmed. "And you must be Ethel."
"GoGo." GoGo corrected him. "That's what most people call me."
"GoGo?" Harry repeated. "I like it." He then shook her hand. "Peter's talked about you a lot."
"I'd imagine," Wasabi said. "Hey, I'm Damon."
"We call him Wasabi," Peter said.
"That was one time!" Wasabi cried, trying to get one person not to call him that.
"What are you majoring in?" GoGo wonders.
"Uh bio-chemistry," Harry answered.
"Oh, that just so happens to be Honey Lemon's field of expertise," Wasabi said.
"Honey Lemon?" Harry asks.
"Génesis Rodríguez, I told you about her," Peter explained. "She should still be-"'
"Hey guys!" Speaking of Honey Lemon she came out of nowhere, spooking them. "What are we doing?!"
"Hey," Harry greeted her. "I'm Harry."
"Oh, you're Harry Osborn," Honey said with glee as she ran over, giving him a sticker. "Welcome stickers!"
Harry watched her skip off in surprise. "Is she..."
"Always like this? Yes," Peter stated. "Where are Hiro and Fred?"
That was when they heard an alert in the distance. From Karmi's lab. "I'm gonna go check that out."
Making his way down to the hallway, he saw Karmi shove Baymax, Hiro, and Fred out of the labs. They were drenched in water, making Peter wonder what happened.
"What are you guys doing?" Peter asked.
"Uh, we were trying to get some information on Orso Knox," Hiro explained to him.
"Knox? Why?" Peter wonders.
"We've just been getting curious about what is taking them so long," Hiro explained. "It's been months since his rampage. And from what we've seen, they haven't made any sort of breakthrough."
"Well, it isn't exactly unheard of, but I am getting your point," Peter shrugged. "Let me know if you find something."
"Where are you going?" Fred wonders.
"Uh, I still have a job," Peter stated as he rushed off. "And I am meeting Norman Osborn, just let me know if you need me or when you find something."
"A green guy shows up out of nowhere and calls himself the Green Goblin." Norman scoffed. "These maniacs show up and start naming themselves."
Betty came in rushing with Peter behind her. "Chief, I found Parker."
"Where have you been?" Jameson asked him. "Why don't you pay your phone bill? A psycho shows up in town, and I have yet to get pictures. You're fired."
Bette rushed in to save the day. "Chief, the party?"
"Oh, right, you're unfired," Jameson said. "Get back in here. What do you know about high society?"
"Uh, well, I-"
"Don't answer that," Jameson stopped him. "My society photographer got hit in the head by a polo ball. You're all I got. Big party for an American hero tonight. My son, the astronaut."
Well, that was a first. Peter has heard of Jameson's son dozens of times... a few hundred times. His son, the astronaut. He wouldn't shut up about him when Peter first arrived at the Daily Bugle. Over time he just started to block out the mention of his son.
"He's returning from some space mission on the moon with some sort of find, being hosted by that new company, Syckory or something," Jameson stated.
"Sycorax." Robbie corrected.
"Whatever," Jameson stated. "The takeaway of this is a big party, my son, the astronaut, unveiling whatever it is he found. Be there."
Peter nodded. "Uh, sure." He then got an alert on his phone. "If this is all, sir, then can I go?"
"Go, get out of here," Jameson said.
Peter deftly swung through the bustling city, his heart racing as he finally landed on the balcony of Norman Osborn's expansive office. With a confident smile, he turned to find Spider-Man waiting for him, his signature red and blue suit glistening as he gestured for him to step inside. The room was bathed in the warm glow of late afternoon sunlight streaming through large glass windows, casting intricate shadows on the sleek, modern furniture.
As Spider-Man entered, Peter wasted no time. "So, what have we uncovered?" he asked, a spark of curiosity lighting up his face.
Norman leaned back thoughtfully, his fingers steepled in front of him. "Well, the technology that Goblin absconded with appears to align with experimental projects like Project: Silent Sparrow and Egrass. But there's more. We've uncovered a cache of experimental weapons and advanced gear, including that menacing glider."
Peter's eyes widened with surprise. "So, that glider wasn't his, to begin with?" He felt a wave of realization wash over him. "If only we could pinpoint his origin. Who exactly is this guy?"
Norman considered for a moment, then raised his brow. "Didn't you have an encounter with someone from another dimension once?"
Peter's mind raced as he recalled their previous battle. "Oh right! That eccentric Doc Ock wannabe—Olivia Octavius. Honestly, I haven't heard anything about her in ages." Stepping back, he swiftly dialed a number, determination etched on his features. "Yuri?"
"Spider-Man? What's the scoop? Any leads on our Goblin?" Yuri's voice crackled through the receiver, filled with a mix of hope and urgency.
"I'm exploring a potential lead," Peter replied, the tension palpable in his tone. "Remember Olivia?"
"That female Doc Ock wannabe?" Yuri echoed, mirroring Peter's earlier phrasing. "Yeah, she's been secured at one of those high-tech facilities last I checked."
Peter let out a frustrated sigh. "I've been trying to piece together connections, but without access to Olivia, it's a dead end."
Norman nodded in understanding. "Well, it's possible he originated from this world," he reasoned, glancing at Peter with an analytical gaze. "Is there any distinct detail about him that struck you?"
"Aside from being a hulking brute wielding some seriously scary tech?" Peter mused, crossing his arms. "He must have been a genius, but that doesn't really help narrow it down much."
"And to undergo such a transformation," Norman pondered aloud. "There undoubtedly has to be some sort of bio-enhancements at play."
"Like Sycorax?" Peter ventured, a frown creasing his brow.
"Sycorax?" Norman chuckled, shaking his head lightly. "I highly doubt Liv had the capacity for something like that."
"You know her?" Peter asked, intrigued.
"We've crossed paths a few times—a handful of conventions here and there," Norman recalled, waving his hand dismissively. "It's the nature of the field; you bump into fellow scientists occasionally. Liv had this grand vision to save lives, but funding was always an obstacle. It seems she's found her way to the necessary backing for her projects now."
Peter furrowed his brow as he murmured, "There's also this event coming up…"
"What event?" Norman interrupted, catching the hint of distraction in Peter's voice.
Peter sighed, somewhat sheepishly. "There's a Sycorax event—a big gala for the Bugle's chief editor's son."
A thoughtful look crossed Norman's face. "Interesting. What precisely was stolen from Sycorax?"
Peter hadn't even considered that question; he shook his head in surprise. "Didn't you figure that out?"
"I attempted to inquire with Liv, but all I got was her peculiar assistant. That guy reminded me of that old movie character," Norman replied with a smirk. Peter's mask eye lens squints at that one. "You know, the strong but dumb guy who's great at cooking, works for that old, evil potion girl?"
Peter's mask lenses squinted quizzically. "No, no, I know the reference. I'm just surprised you know it," he said, marveling at Norman's odd pop culture knowledge. "And… wow, that actually does fit him."
"Anyway," Norman continued, refocusing. "What if we're entirely misreading this situation? What if he transformed into that monstrous being after acquiring some high-tech gear? This all began posing as random fires, right?"
"Are you suggesting the fires were initially planned to just be fires instead of stealing tech?" Peter's brow furrowed as he attempted to grasp the idea.
"I believe he lacked advanced tech at the onset, so he had to utilize whatever he had in his possession to commandeer resources from others." Norman dissected his theory with precision. "Then, he enhanced his tech, and subsequently, Sycorax enabled him to evolve."
Peter mulled that over, excitement bubbling in his chest. "That is a possibility."
"But for that to work, he must have had extensive knowledge of all the tech companies involved," Norman said, his tone growing more serious.
"Or not," Peter suddenly exclaimed, the realization hitting him like a bolt of electricity. "All the tech companies were on the verge of unveiling new products before they got attacked."
"The news coverage," Norman said thoughtfully, his mind racing. "The attacker watched it and seized his opportunity." He began crafting a timeline, piecing together the chaos they had encountered. "You're brilliant, Spider-Man. If you ever consider working with OsCorp and can share your secret with a select few, you know where to find me," Norman said, a hint of admiration in his voice.
"Thanks, Norman," Peter replied, stepping back with a cautious smile. "But for now, I think I'll stay put. Remember, I'm still warming up to the idea of collaborating with a scientist who isn't a villain."
Norman chuckled softly, a genuine warmth in his gaze. "I understand, Spider-Man. Just know I will continue to pursue this Green Goblin. Together, we'll uncover the truth."
As Peter took a moment to consider, he couldn't deny that the idea of aligning with Norman was becoming increasingly appealing. There was something authentic about Norman's intentions; he genuinely seemed to care. Yet, with tech stolen from OsCorp, a part of Peter still questioned whether this was merely a ploy to regain lost property. For now, though, their paths aligned—a shared mission to catch the elusive Green Goblin.
Speaking of the enigmatic Olivia Octavius, she continued to delve into her work, her sharp eyes focused intently on the shimmering crystal that John Jameson had unearthed on the moon. Its facets caught the light, refracting a myriad of colors that danced across the walls of the dimly lit lab, reminiscent of a distant memory she could scarcely grasp.
"What did you discover?" Liv inquired, her voice a mixture of curiosity and anticipation.
"This crystal... it sparks a memory," Olivia responded thoughtfully, her fingers tracing the edges of the artifact. "Years ago, I encountered similar relics back in my home dimension. They were fragments of the very Terrigen crystals the Inhumans harnessed to forge their existence."
"So, these crystals possess the potential for terrigenesis?" Liv pushed for clarity, her brow furrowed with intrigue.
"Not precisely," Olivia corrected, a hint of uncertainty lacing her tone. "While I can't ascertain their exact properties, they emit an unusual aura that feels... alive." As she activated a scanner, holographic images flickered to life, displaying the readings taken from the pilots and John Jameson himself. "It appears that when Mr. Jameson stumbled upon this crystal, it formed an exclusive bond with him. It seems to have chosen him as its sole responder."
A contemplative smile crossed Liv's face as she lifted the crystal, its glow intensifying in her hands, casting a mystical light around her. "Then I propose we discover just how profoundly it reacts to him," she declared, her curiosity ignited and the thrill of experimentation sparking in her eyes.
Karmi just exited the elevator after being turned down by Liv to see Orso Knox. When she did, she saw Hiro, Fred, and Baymax. She gasped and rushed over, wondering what they were doing there.
"What are you losers doing here?" Karmi asked.
"Well, you were taking too long, so we thought we'd come to see Liv." Hiro shrugged.
"You can't just "see" Liv." Karmi stated. "She's busy."
Baymax looked over and saw Liv on the escalator. "Liv Amara is right there."
Karmi gasped as she rushed into her lab, shoving them with her. "What are you trying to do to me, Hiro? And whatever your name is, no eating in my lab!" She snatched Fred's lunch.
"Oh, but it's lunchtime! Yaki taco?" Fred asked.
Karmi quickly snatched it back and smacked it into the bag, shoving it back at him.
"So, did Liv let you see anything on Knox, or not?" Hiro asked.
"As if a bio amateur like you would understand, anyway." Kamri scoffed as she marched towards her computer.
"Please allow me to help." Baymax offered. "I have a complete library of-"
"She's bluffing, Baymax." Hiro stated as he used the computers to begin to pull up the file.
"What are you doing?" Karmi asks, missing the spider that was crawling along her lab coat.
"Checking out the Knox file." Hiro stated.
"Oh, yeah? Well, it's locked." Karmi told him. "Good luck accessing it."
"Encrypted file? I don't need luck." Hiro stated as he quickly hacked into the file. "Ha! Who's the amateur now?"
"You can't just- ugh!" Karmi cried.
Hiro looked through the file and saw the location. "Looks like they're keeping him in a high-security lab in Sub-level nine."
"Wow. That's the most mysterious sub-level there is." Fred commented. "Unless there's a sub-level ten. Is there sub-level ten?"
"Wait, stop," Karmi said, seeing the strand of DNA. "Go back."
"It would appear that Orso Knox is experiencing..."
"An over-expression of various mutated gene sequences." Karmi and Baymax finished.
"Correct."
Karmi zoomed in and saw the strands of DNA. "Except the patterns in these base pairs aren't similar at all."
"Perhaps it is being caused by a specific regulatory region," Baymax said.
"Yes! Somewhere upstream." Karmi said.
"Maybe someone else jump in now," Fred said.
"So, what I'm hearing is you can fix him!" Hiro said.
"Well, yeah," Karmi said. "But I am not risking my internship."
"Karmi, please. Someone has to help." Hiro said.
"Ugh. Fine." Karmi decided to go along. "But how do we even get down there? I don't have access."
Hiro cracked his knuckles with a laugh. "That's not gonna be a problem."
Peter navigated through the bustling streets, the crisp night air carrying hints of glamour and expectation to the grand venue where Sycorax was hosting the event. With a quick glance at his surroundings, he dug into his bag, hastily pulling out a more civilian outfit that would help him blend in. The camera resting against his hip felt familiar and comforting as he extracted it along with the pass Jameson had generously provided. Taking a deep breath, he sprang from the ledge and strode across the pavement, exuding a confidence that disguised his nervousness.
As he approached the entrance, the doorman gave him a scrutinizing glance before Peter presented his pass with a flicker of assurance. He was waved inside, and the atmosphere shifted dramatically around him. The interior sparkled with elegant chandeliers, laughter mingling with clinking glasses, and soft music wafting through the air. Peter began to snap photos, capturing the opulence and energy of the party.
"May I?" he asked an elegantly dressed couple, his camera poised.
"Sure. Go ahead," they replied, smiles plastered across their faces.
He clicked away, moving through the throngs of refined guests, feeling a distinct disconnect; he was more accustomed to the gritty streets of downtown than this world of affluence and formality. As he continued to weave through the crowd, his focus shifted from one striking moment to another until an unexpected collision halted him in his tracks.
"Oh, Sorr—" he started, but the words stuck in his throat as his eyes locked onto a figure that sent chills racing down his spine. There stood Olivia Octavius, her gaze sharp and calculating. The air seemed to thicken, and an unspoken tension enveloped them, each unwillingly engaged in a silent standoff. Peter could sense her eagerness to exploit his hesitation; she knew he wouldn't dare make a scene and endanger anyone. Yet, he could not shake the feeling of dread that settled in the pit of his stomach as he watched her smirk and turn away, gliding effortlessly through the crowd as if she owned the night.
Just then, Peter snapped back to reality, jolted by a familiar voice hollering his name.
"Parker! Parker! Parker! What, are you deaf?" Jameson's voice cut through the swirling noise as he made his way over, draping a heavy arm around Peter's shoulders and steering him away from Olivia with surprising force. "I called you twice. Do I pay you to sip champagne? Grab a shot of my wife with the minister!"
Obligingly, Peter followed him, feeling a rush of anxiety while remaining aware of Olivia's distant presence.
"Beautiful tie," Mrs. Jameson remarked as Peter readied himself to capture the moment.
"Get a shot of us with the DA," Jameson urged impatiently, and the trio moved toward the esteemed figure, Mrs. Jameson chatting amiably.
"Beautiful dress," she complimented, her smile as bright as the jewels adorning her neck.
"Here, get a shot of the mayor and his girlfriend," Jameson continued, now hustling toward the man in charge, who shot Jameson an irritated look. "Wife," he corrected, much to the crowd's amusement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening!" A voice boomed from the stage, drawing everyone's attention. "The committee for the Science Library of San Fransokyo... is pleased to present our guest of honor. He's the first man to play football on the moon." Laughter rippled through the audience, a reaction to the ongoing jovial atmosphere, yet Peter felt a strange tension gathering in the air.
As Captain John Jameson descended the staircase with undeniable charisma, Peter couldn't help but observe how the young captain bore a striking resemblance to his father. John stepped forward, a broad smile on his face, as he greeted the crowd.
"Well, hello, thank you all for being here," John began, but then an unsettling sensation prickled at the back of Peter's mind, the unmistakable tingle of his spider senses igniting. He scanned the room anxiously but found no trace of Olivia. The sight of Norman lurking among the guests snapped him back to reality; clearly, Norman had played his cards right to secure an invitation.
"...and when returning..." John stumbled over his words, a sheen of sweat appearing on his brow as he fidgeted with his collar. "Is it... is it hot in here or—"
Suddenly, a blinding light erupted from John's figure, causing a collective gasp to sweep across the room. He screamed, pain etched across his features as he collapsed to the ground. Confusion rippled through the crowd when, in an instant, John rose again, but this time he was transformed. An enormous, muscular arm, covered in sleek white fur replaced his normal hand, its claws glistening ominously. The crowd erupted in panic, and Peter's heart raced in alarm.
John Jameson had morphed into a formidable creature—a Man-Wolf—a creature of legend and terror. The once-lively gala trembled under the weight of shock and fear as guests stumbled back, the echo of the announcer's last words mangled in their terror.
The Wolf-Man let out a howl, causing everyone to run in panic to try and escape. The creature began to chase after everyone, and Peter knew he now had a chance as he raced off down a corridor to quickly swap into his superhero attire and summon his friends.
"See? Not a problem." Hiro said as they reached the Sub-Level.
As they looked around, they were horrified by the many DNA experiments that they saw, including a beating heart in a jar, what looked to be various creatures in jars and a creature with a million eyes staring at Fred.
"Ah! Yep. Just lost my appetite." Fred stated, putting the food away.
There was a growling noise heard, getting Hiro to look at a few giant cages in the distance as he headed over toward it. Heading over towards it, they were shocked when they saw that there was Orso Knox, but also in another, the infamous Lizard, Curt Connors. The two of them rushed towards the doors, only for a gate of sorts to appear and clash them back into the cage.
"Dr. Connors?" Hiro was shocked to see him.
Lizard only snarled as he turned around, curling in and snarling at the cage door.
"Fascinating," Karmi said as she ran over to the computers.
"Excuse me, Mr. Knox. It's me." Fred said as he approached the cage. "Fred. Of the San Fransokyo Fredericksons."
Wait. Couldn't he talk before?" Hiro wonders.
Liv then came out of the shadows, spooking everyone. "The longer he spends like this, the less human he gets. He's been sub-verbal for weeks now." The two creatures let out a low growling sound at the sight. "Now, a question for all of you. What are you doing down here?"
Karmi tried to explain. "Uh, I can explain."
"Karmi, I thought you were a value adder, not a rule breaker," Liv said with a slightly disappointed face. "This is my disappointed face."
"It's not Karmi's fault." Hiro defended. "I-I made her-"
"Hi. I'm talking to Karmi." Liv interrupted him. "I'm afraid I'm gonna have to-" The computer beeps and confirms that the treatment was a success. "You did all this? Just now?"
"Yes," Karmi admitted. "And I'm so sorry."
"This is impressive," Liv said in amazement.
"It is?" Karmi and Hiro asked in surprise.
"I have a meeting, so let's close the loop on this," Liv said as she dragged Fred. "Karmi, keep working, with permission this time."
"Wait, I'm not fired?" Karmi asked in surprise.
"I can overlook the breaking of a rule now and then," Liv said. "I'm the boss. Mr. Frederickson, walk with me."
"Uh-h-h sure?" Fred guessed.
"I trust you can show yourself out," Liv said as they began to leave.
"Yep. I can do that." Hiro said.
"Great," Liv said as they entered the elevator. "How's your mother? I haven't had a chance to follow up with her after our investment discussion..."
Hiro watched Fred leave and shrugged. "So, what's next?"
"What's next is you leaving," Karmi said as she pushed Hiro towards the elevator.
But before she could throw him out, the building went into some sort of lockdown. The secure cell holding Orso Knox went offline, causing everyone to panic.
"Oh, no." Baymax said.
"Do not, "Oh, no." I don't want to hear any "Oh, no'ing" from you." Karmi stated.
"Uh, Karmi?" Hiro got her attention, showing Orso Knox escaped.
"Oh, no." Karmi whispered.
They heard footsteps in the distance and began to panic. "Baymax. Flashlight."
They then started to try and look around using Baymax's hand and Hiro's phone. They looked around and tried to see Orso Knox, with Lizard growing a grin as he watched what was happening.
That was then followed by Orso Knox coming in, knocking Baymax into the wall, causing Hiro to grab Karmi and try and escape.
Orso Knox managed to get Hiro to drop his phone in the process as they ran. Orso Knox stepped on the phone as he chased the two of them down a hallway. Upstairs, the entire building went into lockdown just as Fred, Liv, and Chris made it out of the main building.
"The whole building became a supervillain-style deathtrap! I mean a super cool, super-villain-style deathtrap, but still - a deathtrap, nonetheless." Fred cried in fear.
"It's our auto lockdown," Liv explained to him.
"A containment breach in sub-level nine," Chris explained. "Which means-"
"Knox. He's out." Liv said.
"B-b-but, my friends," Fred said in fear. "They're still down there."
"Even I don't have the authority to override lockdown protocol," Liv said as she backed off. "Excuse me. I need to gather my team."
"Me, too," Fred said, summoning the others.
Everyone was beginning to get an alert on their phones, getting them to look over the chat.
"Did anyone else just get two alerts from Fred and Peter?" Teresa asks.
"Yep," GoGo said.
"We're going to have to split up for this one." Teresa sighed. "You guys go to Fred, I'll take Peni and head off to get Peter."
"Sounds like a plan," Wasabi said. "What about Harry?"
Teresa looked over and saw that Honey Lemon was entertaining him. "I think Honey has got it."
Man-Wolf roared, throwing tables everywhere as Jameson approached him. "John! John, my boy! You need to calm down! Whatever is going on, we can-"
Man-Wolf roared and drew his claws to strike his own father, but that was when dozens of webs came in and latched onto him. They looked over and saw Spider-Man as he was hanging on the wall, gripping the webs.
"Sorry, this building has a no pets allowed policy!" Peter quipped, yanking on the webs hard enough to yank Man-Wolf and send him flying across the room.
It didn't take long for Man-Wolf to get off of him, running over, getting Peter to flip over to dodge the strike, and then kicking him in the back, sending Man-Wolf skidding and letting out a whine.
"Bad, puppy," Peter mocked the creature.
Man-Wolf got back up and chased over to Peter, getting him to dodge the strikes, but that was when he began to realize his spider senses weren't alerting him of the dangers. He was taken by surprise by his tail smacking Peter, blinding him for a moment, and allowed the Man-Wolf to smack Peter across the room and smash into the wall.
"When has this become my life?" Peter asked.
When the Man-Wolf came rushing towards him, he snarled just when Peni came into the scene with the SP//DR and shielded Peter from the Man-Wolf strike. "Hey, Pete."
"Peni." Peter was relieved to see his younger sister. "Was beginning to worry nobody got my SOS."
"Yeah, well, Fred and Hiro called for backup, so we had to split the team," Peni explained.
That was when a rope came around and wrapped around the Man-Wolf, getting him to snarl he looked up and saw that he was being held back by Teresa as she was flying. "What is this thing?!"
"Jameson's son!" Peter explained, getting himself free of the wall. "At least it was."
"Jameson's so-!" Teresa was then flung and slammed into the ground as her pack malfunctioned. "Son..?"
"And that's not the worst of it!" Peter cried as he and Peni leaped to dodge the strike from Man-Wolf. "Olivia was here."
"Doc Ock?" Peni was shocked to hear that, crawling over and preparing to strike the Man-Wolf. "Why was she-" She was stopped by the Man-Wolf who snarled and used his claws to strike the armor, causing Peni to flinch and back away. "OOF!"
"You think she caused this!?" Teresa asked, trying to use her tasers on the Man-Wolf, but his fur was too thick to reach his skin.
"It's possible, but how? The only time she and John were in the same room was-" Peter then got an idea as he looked over towards the stage. "The stage!"
Peter rushed over to the stage as Man-Wolf snarled and raced over towards him again, trying to strike with his claws. But Peter used his mechanical legs to strike and sent an electrical surge to try and subdue the creature for a second. Once the surge struck, Peter ran over to the stand and quickly searched the microphone stand. He then looked down and saw a glow coming from underneath it, getting him to open it and see there is the gemstone from the launch.
"I knew it!" Peter then quickly raised the stone into the air, seeing how seeing the stone caused the Man-Wolf to react. He snarled and rushed over, only to be held down by Peni and Teresa. Peni used her suit to hold him down and Teresa quickly subdued him. "If this is what turned him into this... then let's see what happens when it's shattered!"
Peter then raised the crystal and slammed it into the ground, causing it to shatter and send fragments of it everywhere. They watched as it seemed to begin to have an affect on John as he began to morph back into his human form, but they saw he was looking less human as before. He looked more... animalistic. He had all white hair, and sharp teeth.
"Well... that almost worked." Peter saw there were some definite changes.
He might not be cured, but at least he wasn't the Man-Wolf anymore.
.
Back at Sycorax, they managed to get the situation under control as Hiro and the others were now dawning their new advanced armor Hiro had been working on for some time. Their suits were much darker with bulkier armor and some changes in the gear. Karmi was holding a syringe when she saw the team and gasped.
"Captain Cutie!"
Hiro sighed and knew he needed to work on that. "Yup, that's me. "Captain Cutie"."
"I promise you, we'll cure Mr. Knox and Dr. Connors." Karmi premises.
"Karmi, I know you will," Hiro said as he began to leave.
"Wait," Karmi said. "What about Hiro? Was he hurt?"
"Ah uh-"
"Your friend Hiro is fine." GoGo stepped in.
"He's not my friend," Karmi said with a sheepish smile. "I barely know him, really."
"Right. Let's go." Hiro said as they left.
Lizard chuckled as he watched everything and whispered, "Soon..."
But they missed the spider crawling its way around Karmi and making its way up her neck.
With the chaos under control, everyone went about their day. John had been brought to Sycorax for a possible chance to discover a cure, and Peter had to see they were making progress with the actual science but was shocked to hear they were housing the Lizard. He hadn't heard of Connors since he escaped his grasp months ago.
"So, Karmi, did your serum work?" Hiro asked.
"Yes, but it's not my serum," Karmi said. "At Sycorax, we don't like words like "my" or "me." The breakthrough was a team effort, based almost completely on my work."
"Well, I guess Mr. Knox really owes one to the Sycorax team." Hiro shrugged.
"Mr. Knox has graciously agreed to invest in Sycorax's future," Liv said at a press conference. "Generously."
Mr. Knox looked a little sheepish and scared. "Thank you. Uh, the work Liv and Sycorax are doing is truly life-changing... They cured me, after all."
As Karmi trudged home to the apartment she shared with her uncle, a weary sigh escaped her lips, each step heavy with the weight of her recent adventure to save Orso Knox. The cool evening air wrapped around her like a shroud, amplifying her fatigue. Upon entering, she draped her coat over a nearby chair, oblivious to the small, shimmering figure darting across the clothes she wore: a radioactive spider, its body glinting ominously in the fading light.
The stillness of her home sent a shiver down her spine, and she sensed an unsettling absence. "Uncle Rick?" she called out, her voice echoing slightly in the quiet space.
The silence that followed only deepened her unease, as she scanned the familiar rooms for any sign of him. Her gaze finally landed on a note resting casually on the kitchen counter, its edges slightly curled.
'Hey, kiddo, I gotta be out of town for a few days. I'll be back before you know it. Stay out of trouble—Uncle Rick'
She chuckled softly at his familiar sign-off, shaking her head as she transitioned into the comfort of her living room. Slumping into the plush embrace of the couch, she allowed herself a moment to unwind. But just as she began to relax, an unexpected tickle crept up her neck.
Instinctively, she swatted at it, her hand colliding with the rapid little creature, prompting it to retaliate in self-defense. Before she could process the situation, the spider sank its fangs into her skin, unleashing a surge of venom and radiation that coursed through her veins like wildfire. She fell off and she then fell over, her eyes getting heavy as she began to faint from the changes her body was now going through.
It began to change Karmi.
Morphing her cells into something completely new, like the spider that bit Peter four years ago. She was about to be awakened to a whole new world she didn't know was possible...
(A/N) Ladies and gentlemen, it finally happened! You have no idea how LONG I have waited for this! I have been setting this up since before the movie in this storyline! And it finally happened. Karmi has been bitten! This has been the plan since day 1 of the spider being introduced (and in the production of my rewrite of this story). (RUBBING HANDS TOGETHER) Now this is where the fun begins...
And yes, I skimmed over what was going on at Sycorax since I wanted to show Peter fighting the Man-Wolf whom I wanted to introduce as a change to the timeline. There will be plenty more of those going forward with what is to come!
