Music World
...Ruby opened her eyes; she was staring into an endless void. All big, all black darkness around her.
She sat up fast.
"What the-"
She looked underneath her. The floor didn't even really look like floor; it was just more blacker. But somehow held up her weight.
"I don't even wanna move," she muttered. "It's probably gonna be, I dunno, like... one of those old cartoons where, uh, you step and... yeah, you fall."
" ¡Holaaa~! " chirped a voice. Ruby's big bunny ears winced; it sounded like a soda can with a kazoo stuck in it.
A shape bounced toward her: more big rabbit ears, kooky smile, and limbs that looked like scribbles pulled from a child's sketchbook. You could only tell she existed from all the glitchy lines around her.
" Eyyyy, amiga! " said the figure, speaking in tune to a non-existent soundtrack " Si Vibri! "
"...What?" Ruby backed up. Then she looked at her hands. Pitch black.
She turned her hands over again. Still black. Fur, fingers, errythin' all black.
"No. No-no-no," Ruby muttered. "Why? W-Why am I... black?"
Vibri tilted her head. "Ooh," she purred. " You look sooo chido, senoreta! "
Ruby shot a death glare. "Okay look, I-I speak English, not... whatever that beaner speak is. Second - I'm white! I'm supposed to be white! Why am I not WHITE?!"
" Ohhh senorita, you havin mochos fun!" Vib beamed, mouth so open the empty space was bigger than her head.
"No the hell I'm not," Ruby said through clenched teeth. Her voice dropped. "I-You-I-" she shook her head. "Fix. Fix this. Now."
Vib blinked, confused. " Fixed...? You mean like... si gots it! You need a snacksa! "
Ruby recoiled. "I'm good-"
" Si want mias tortilla? Wait—I gots nocha pockets. ¡Mierda! "
Ruby shook her head. "That's fine, I didn't want diarrhea anyways."
Ruby stared at her new, inky reflection in the shimmering void. Her hands trembled. Her eyes opened; transformed from simple lines to open empty sockets; she grew a mouth and screamed; so loud her mouth turned into incomprehensible shapes, like a supernova on her face.
"FIX ME FIX ME FIX ME-" she yelled, grabbing the strange black, not quite Hispanic bunny and shaking her.
"Si?" Vibiri asked. Ruby dropped her; she bounced off the floor and the impact made a musical note as it flattened like a pancake.
Ruby began panting, left eye twitching. Slowly the twitch began to disappear.
"You... I don't know what the hell type of taco magic you just did... but you did something, to my beautiful... my-my beautiful, pure European skin. Repurify me. F-Fix what-whatever this-this witchcraft is..." Ruby pulled out her phone. "Or I'll call the ICE hotline on you, Speedy."
Vibri ballooned up, and her body parts flipped 360 degrees til they fell back in place. Other than her face, upside down.
" ...But mi legal, señora shadowbun ," she harmonized, as her face POPPED! back into proper location.
Ruby glared at her. "That's a lie. Dad used to tell me 'Ruby feller, ain't no such thing assa legal taco bunny.' Show me your papers."
Vibri's mouth dropped a bit, and flipped upside down and stretched out. "Paper?" She scratched her head, by elongating one of her cylinder arm things.
"I knew it," muttered Ruby. "Damn illegal sketchbook goblin." She started to walk away; without looking, she came across a wave.
Vibiri gasped. " SENORITA! Tis a wave! "
Ruby tripped on the wave. She stumbled and fell on her face; her body distorted like Vibri's did, like some broken parallelogram thingy. Her body morphed back into normal, swirling patterns where her sockets would be.
