(Disclaimer i do not own ushio and tora or any of the characters from the show. My OC Cervene is owned by me. Timeline wise this just happens in between everything. This was a roleplay i turned into a story and figured i'd dip my toes in the water and see if anyone likes it. I have a few more chapters i can post if people are interested.

There hasn't been hardly any youki activity recently for the past few days, almost feels normal for once. On top of it, there's been rumors of a foreign exchanged student from the states coming in. I guess its a big deal everyone is talking about it..." Hey tora, dont you think its weird there hasnt been any yokia activity recently?" Ushio paused in thought looking up to tora on their walk to school.
He shrugged and crossed his arms with a yawn" Nice to have a break, why are you complaining?" Tora pokes and grumblesUshio shrugs back " i-im not really complaining, just find it odd on top of a new student showing up. Wonder if hakumen no mono is planning something."
It was a rather warm morning, bright sunny, few clouds in the sky. Ushio held the beast spear rather close today a bit paranoid." jeez, your holding that thing a bit tight. If there was anything off i would be able to feel it," tora pointed out and sniffed the air. The chitter chattering of others stated to hum closer as they both finally made it with just a few minutes to spare before the bell rings.
" Morning ushio!" A familiar voice rang out past the paranoia and caught ushio off guard
" Oh morning mayuko," ushio gave a soft smile and relaxed a bit more." I bet you heard about the foreign exchange student, i wonder what they are like."
Mayuko seemed a bit excited about it.
"About that.. have you heard anything else?" Ushio asked curiously.
Mayuko looked away in thought "hmm.. i dunno, not much."
Ushio frowned
" Quit stressing, youre gonna taste bad doing that" tora poked again with a chuckle and took another sniff of the air, something caught his attention a sweet floral magick scent very light in the air
." Better get to class before the bell rings!" Another voice called out coming up behind them.
Asako ran up almost passing them before knocking ushio one. "Youre gonna be late!"
The chitter chatter among the classroom grew quiet as the teacher introduced the new exchange student, the foreign student stepped in.
the door clicked shut behind them as they stepped forward.
Another girl,dressed in the uniform every other girl was wearing.
She had such a creamy pale complexion dotted with light brown freckles on her cheeks, sharp green eyes and short boyish red hair. She also wore a plain jacket, a hint of brown leather around her neck a necklace perhaps…
" This is cervene from the united states, she is staying with us for the rest of the semester." Teacher paused.
Cervene waved nervously.
" theres an open seat in the back" he motioned to her.
She walked past ushio to the seat in the back, that same smell from earlier tickled tora's nose who was perched on top of ushio like usual. His gaze shifted back to her for a moment, she was nervously writing in a notebook. She was shivering a little bit also.. Ushio droned off into a snooze just a bit after the lecture started...
The teacher's voice hummed in the background of thoughts.. Cervene tried her best to pay attention but the time change from home to here made it hard for her to stay awake. Her green eyes were slightly heavy as her gaze lifted up from her pencil in her hand stopped, she caught a glimpse of an orange aura. She didn't jump or make a scene. she slightly narrowed her brows and shook her was a bit of quietness before a voice rang out
" There will be a test next week."
Both ushio and cervene jumped startled by the bell.
"Something is definitely different with the new meat," tora chimmed in to a groggy ushio.
Cervene hurried to collect her things, her hands a bit shakey
" its cold in here," she hummed to herself befor, noticing a shift in movement towards her.
" What part of the states are you from?" Mayuko asked very curiously.
Cervene jumped a little bit then chuckled it off
" oh um the east coast, up the Appalachia" she responded with a shy smile those green eyes glancing away for a few seconds."C-could you tell me where the girls bathroom is?"
Cervene glanced down, blushing a bit nervous.
Mayuko nodded and gave her directions, cervened dipped her head in thanks and hurried out the room.
The rest of the day was as normal as it could be yet that scent of floral and magick lingered around wherever cervene was .
Final bell rang. classes dismissed.
students flooded out of the school, finally to enjoy the rest of their day doing whatever.
Ushio stumbled into asako and mayuko casually chatting.
"What do you think of the new girl,ushio?" Mayuko asked.
He shrugged "different,"
" smells delicious," tora comments drooling a bit in thought.
That same smell passed by again faintly just as cervene walked by.
headphones covering her ears. Drowning out most of the noises by music.
her green eyes quickly glanced over in their direction catching the same orange aura as before.
She then looked away quickly and continued walking.
"Ooh, asako looks like you have competition!" Mayuko teased Ushio, whom is completely clueless as to what was going on.
"What? No! ," asako argues back with a deep red blush across her face.
i dont think she was eyeing ushio, tora hums in thought and looks down 'did she see me? A blank expression flashed across his face.
After a moment , he disappeared from the group to follow that faint sweet smell. thats definitely magick but different,' he hums floating over crowds of people.
His Brows narrowed as he wrinkled his nose at the other smells crowding out cervene' caught a glimpse of red hair among dull colors of the crowd at the stoplight
there you are.. he watched from a distance a feeling swirling in his stomach.
She stood there among the crowd, bumping head to the music filling her headphones. Her hands tightly clenching her books, she nervously miss stepped bumping into someone then stumbling forward into the busy road.
Great another dumbass,'he growled before rushing down to grab her.
In that quick moment, her sharp green eyes glanced up and met his gaze. And before she knew it her feet were on the ground and he was gone.
"Ushio is rubbing off on me, i had her i could have taken her somewhere he wouldnt have known.." he growled to himself pondering while watching.
His orange fur rippling with eagerness.
Why are you just standing there?!"The red head stood there in shock a moment, while she tried to catch her breath. Her heart pounding heavy within her chest,vibrating her body and knees weak.
w-what was that?..
she paused touching her own face... was warm..
She looked up in search and thought, her soft pink lips parted in an exhale "t-thank you," those green eyes blinking.
