A/N Syg, go ahead, you have the right to enjoy the fact that your idea works so well in this story and I'm grateful for your help.

"We don't even know if the ZedPM will work." Dr. McKay grumbled. "It could just be a fancy light show. Or it could be sabotage, I plug that thing in and it starts a chain reaction that blows Atlantis, do we really want to take the chance?"

"Take the time you need to study it, to be sure in your own mind." Xander shrugged. "Hook Colonel Sheppard up to machines and record how he does it."

"Thanks a lot." Sheppard grumbled. "Light switch duty is already the most boring duty around here and now you're volunteering me to be a lab experiment? I thought you were against that for yourself?"

"I am." Xander nodded, looking solomn. "But you can use the opportunity to practice something Dr. McKay will probably never be able to do himself because he's so narrow-minded minded."

"I am not!"

Xander ignored him. "And think what you can do if a Wraith attacks you and you run out of bullets again." Xander put his hands together and then lifted one straight up and dropped the other straight down, a line of orange Eldritch energy crackled between them as he swept one hand around to the right and down and the other to the left and up. More orange energy followed his movements and joined together as smaller concentric circles also appeared inside the larger one. "This is a small energy shield, it'll repel bullets. And a larger one could repel a tank. In the beginning you use words to shape it, as you get stronger only gestures and a focused mind are necessary."

Sheppard touched it experimentally and it crackled slightly at his touch. "That's different than the one Miss Madison made to protect us earlier."

"She used a different source of energy to power hers." Xander answered. "There's potentially thousands of sources of energy in the multiverse and not every reality has access to the same sources because for the most part, we harvest the energy from other dimensions and not every reality can access the same dimensions. Or ask for help from beings that live in those dimensions. That's where she got the energy she uses, from a being that lives in another dimension. Some of my sources are also beings that occupy other dimensions. Our people have spent centuries exploring and learning and we've learned some of those dimensions and beings and the energy in them are harmful to us and others are benign."

"Can you help us identify the different sources we might have access to in this reality?" Dr. Weir asked, carefully touching the energy shield herself. "Atlantis can generate an energy shield herself." She offered. "It drains the ZPM and we have to save it for emergencies, that's metal and wire and crystals and a computer doing the work."

"The human brain can outperform a computer or so I've heard." Xander responded as he shut down the shield. "And I can use crystals to perform a lot of tasks too, they can channel a wide variety of energy very well and they can hold information. And yes, we can identify clean sources of energy, it's one of the things we're doing for the Stargate Command we're already familiar with and we can do a technology exchange as well. In fact, the first thing we can give you is one of the things we've given them." He touched his necklace and they watched it respond. "No Magic involved in this one, Dr. McKay, it's nanotech, made of a metal called Vibranium. It's atomic number is in the low 200s according to Major Carter who's been studying it and extremely stable. It creates a lightweight, breathable suit that absorbs energy, including kinetic energy, becoming stronger when it does. That means bullets don't bounce off of it, they fall off of it. It extends over the head and face and lens form over the eyes that cut glare and enhance night vision. Given that it can only be damaged, as far as we know, by another source of Vibranium, such as Faith's knives, the suit is virtually indestructible. And should keep the Wraith from feeding on anyone wearing one." He tapped the necklace again and it retracted. "Should make a big difference in your war, I think."

"Once we understand how to make them." Dr. McKay agreed, once again excited, technology he could understand. "But we need Earth's resources to make more, which means I need to figure out if the ZedPM really does have zero point energy in it. If it does and there's enough in there, we can contact Earth, re-establish contact. It could change the course of the war with the Goa'uld too."

"That gives us time to take care of our business with the idiot who thought kidnapping our mothers was a fun idea." Faith smiled and it wasn't a nice smile. "Before we come back with a few panther habits for you to play with and start teaching you Magic."

"Do we have to call it that?" Dr. McKay grumbled. "It makes us sound so uneducated. And panther habit?'

"It was invented in a rich, isolated and extremely technologically advanced African country called Wakanda." Xander told him. "The panther is an important symbol for them. And uneducated, Dr. McKay? Try opening your mind because as long as you think like that, you'll never be able to use Magic yourself. You'll have to watch Colonel Sheppard excell at something instead."

Colonel Sheppard couldn't stop smiling, nothing was ruining his mood. Of course, Dr. McKay couldn't stop scowling either. Perhaps one had something to do with the other?
