Hey guyssss! Back with more! Same warnings as last time: Abuse/Slavery
Shin
Shin shook as they yelled at her, was barely phased as they beat her. It was all a familiar rhythm. The same rhythm she'd grown up on:
obey and perhaps be left alone, or get a scrap of a reward if your master feels like it,
resist and be punished,
kneel and be kicked,
bleed when your master wishes it,
be quiet,
know you don't matter,
ignore the pain—
over and over again.
Shin hated how easily she fell back into that rhythm. The rhythm she and Baylan had fought for years to release her from.
Memories kept flooding her broken mind. Chunks: memories of words.
Words she didn't want to remember.
-You are nothing-
-You do not matter-
-You will obey, or you will die-
-No one cares-
-Your purpose is to serve-
-Useless slave girl-
-Weapon-
-Nothing-
-Tool-
-Worthless-
-You deserve this-
Stupid words.
Hurtful words.
Words that didn't go away.
Words that lasted a lifetime.
Words that haunted and nagged a lifetime.
They dragged her onto and made her fight, exhausting her. The collar drained her energy and they didn't give her a good weapon—meaning she lost. Over and over again. There was no victory, there was no glory, there was no revenge—just getting beaten and shocked. Just hoping they'd let her be once they got bored of her. But they never seemed to get bored of her.
They put her back in the cage after a while. It was probably three a.m.
She reached for the severed bond with Baylan, closing her eyes and trying to feel the Force. She was so tired, so broken…
Shin?
She felt him, she felt his words. But she wasn't strong enough to reply.
Where…why are you still on Peridia? Baylan demanded.
Shin didn't respond—that was too much for her, her power was drained and weak. It was an effort just to keep the bond together.
You…should not have called for me. This was your choice. Your destiny. I'll come, if I can.
The bond broke.
No…Shin murmured desperately.
Shin curled in on herself, gasping for breath.
She looked at Phantom again as the bandits pulled her out of her cage to beat her again. They wanted her for entertainment: they enjoyed putting people in pain. Phantom looked eyes with Shin.
I'm going to go find help, he promised.
Shin nodded weakly, letting out a soft grunt as one of the bandits stepped on her for moving, shoving her into the dirt. Her eyes were watering and her vision was clouded, she felt all reality slipping away.
This is much darker than I usually write…but I felt like we needed some amount of understanding for the gravitation of the situation for her. I know it was short, too, sorry guys. More tomorrow, byeeee!
