Chapter 184: Rarity Takes Manehattan
A few more days went by after Fluttershy's sudden transformation into a vampire pony and Spyro was checking her out, having noticed that a couple of her teeth were still pointy, so he asked her to come to his garage to he could check them out, running a series of different tests to figure out why her teeth were still like that. She was sitting in what seemed like a chair dentists would have their patients sit in, having her leaned back while a machine was slowly turning around her head, her mouth held open to get a clearer picture of the teeth while he took a blood sample, looking at it before the machine stopped, pulling back and allowing Fluttershy to move again and close her mouth.
"Well, I've got good news." Spyro said, turning to her. "The good news is that the sharp teeth are definitely temporary. They should wear off over time."
"Oh, thank goodness." Fluttershy said. "For a moment, I thought I was stuck with them forever."
"Yeah, bet you would have been turning heads with how sharp your teeth looked." Spyro said, making her giggle a bit. "That wasn't meant to be a joke. Still... we don't know exactly the full extent your transformation might have had on you, so I'll be doing a few more tests on your blood after we get back from Manehattan."
"Oh, I almost forgot about that." Fluttershy said as she got off the chair. "I'm so excited for a whole week of being in the big city. I can hardly wait."
"Well we beter get to the train station then." Spyro said. "Otherwise we're going to miss the train." The two ponies then ran towards the train station, but Spyro stopped and turned around, pressing a button on his bracers as the entire garage went into full lockdown, the main hangar bay doors closing, the windows, smiling as he looked to the readers. "Not taking any chances of the crusaders getting into my garage while I'm away."
He then chuckled a bit before resuming his run towards the trainsation, both ponies getting there as Spike rolled over a large pile of luggage that were very expensive looking and some from a special line, taking a wild guess on whose luggage it was.
"That's the last of it Rarity." Spike said, Spyro looking to the white unicorn as she looked back to the baby dragon.
"Oh, actually Spike, I've got one more pile over there." Rarity replied, pointing to another pile of luggage.
The baby dragon groaned as he went over to get another cart to load the rest of the luggage as Spyro approached, looking to the luggage Spike was getting and shaking his head.
"Don't you think you've over packed... again?" Spyro asked.
"Spyro darling, a lady can't have one too many accessories." Rarity replied. "I mean, we're going to be in the big city for a whole week darling. I must look my best for when we arrive and while we're there. Especially since it's fashion week. But more than that, i get to spend a whole week with all of my friends there."
"We wouldn't miss it for the world Rarity." Twilight said. "We would support you, no matter what.'
"Not that you'd really need it." Fluttershy said.
"Oh, I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that you'll all be there for me!" Rarity said. "But, maybe I can show you."
She reached into her suitcase and pulled out nine tickets, everyone not knowing what they were for.
"Oh, is it a paper fan!?" Pinkie asked.
"No Pinkie, it's-" Rarity began to say before being interrupted.
"Oh, it's a magic trick!" Pinkie said. "You know, the one where I pick a card, remember what it was and put it back in the deck so you can't look at it and-"
"These, everpony are tickets to the hottest musical on Bright away!" Rarity said, walking past Pinkie while the girls except for Octavia and Spyro looked excited.
"You don't mean Hinny of the Hills, do you!?" Twilight asked excitedly.
"What's Hinny of the Hills?" Octavia asked.
"It's only one of the greatest musicals in all of Equestria!" Twilight replied happily. "It's been sold out for months! How did you get nine tickets!?"
"Oh, I designed the costumes for the show, so they gave me nine tickets as a thank you." Rarity replied.
"Oh Rarity, you didn't have to do that, but since you did...!" Twilight said.
The everyone except for Spyro and Octavia all screamed and cheered excitedly, jumping up and down, but a moment later, Spyro heard Spike groaning, Spyro looking at him as he was carrying some heavy bags.
"Hey Spike, need a hoof?" Spyro asked.
"I'm good." Spike said, stuggling to lift the bag. "I can handle this."
"You sure?" Spyro asked. "I can help you wiht those bags if you want."
"I'm good." Spike replied, carrying the bag into another cart, but looking exhausted. "I'll be done in a moment."
"By then, you'll be so exhausted, you won't have any energy for the trip." Spyro said, grabbing a red bag with gold trimming. "Hang on, I got a way to transport all those bags at once." But as he set the bag down, he noticed that spike was gone, looking to his right and seeing everyone was on the other side of the station, except for Octavia who looked confused. "Oh come on girls, I promise it won't blow up."
"Yeah, like your last gizmo?" Rainbow Dash asked. "You literally created a winter wonderland in the middle of July!"
"Yes, but I promise, this isn't technological." Spyro said. "It's something that Merlin taught me a while back for when I have so much I need to pack, but very little time to do so."
He then brought over a stool as the attendants got started on the luggage, looking like they were having a tough time packing everything when they looked over to him.
[Spyro]
Higitus figitus zumbakazing!
I want your attention, everything!
A moment later, the bags all stood at attention, looking to Spyro, which spooked everyone there as they looked on.
We're going to make it easier to transport you.
Come on, let's get a move on, we leave in a few minutes.
Heavy and nonfragile stuff first, you know the drill!
A second later, one of the bags from the carts started to move on it's own, spooking the ponies who handled the luggage as they looked on.
Hockety pockety wockety wack,
Abra cabra dabra nack!
Shrink in size, very small,
We've got to save enough room for all!
The luggage then started to shrink to a very tiny size, going into the bag while everyone looked on.
Higitus figitus migitus mum,
Prestidigitonium!
Alakafez, balakazez,
Malakamez meripides,
Hockety pockety wockety... What?!
A second later, one of the bags got rough, smacking other bags away to push them back, which annoyed Spyro as he stopped.
Now stop, stop, stop, stop.
He ducked under and pushed a bag away, addressing the one that was being rough.
See here, you carry on bag! You're getting rough!
That poor suitcase has something very fragile in it,
and I don't want whatever is in it to get damaged.
The bag smacked the suitcase, causing whatever it was insude to jingle a bit while he rolled his eyes in annoyance, returning to the stool.
Alright, let's start again.
Ah... let's start again... Oh, where was I?
"Uh, hockety pockety?" Octavia asked.
Oh yes, yes, that's right, hehe.
Hockety pockety wockety wack
Odds and ends and bric a brac,
Everything started again, moving a bit faster than usual to make up for lost time as they all watched.
I'll be with you in just a minute, everyone,
Packing's almost done!
A moment later, one of the bags went in and it sounded like soemthing crashed, making Rarity cringe in fear.
"Becareful darling, those perfumes aren't cheap.
"Hey!" Spyro shouted as all the bags crowded him. "Easy there; no no, go ahead."
The bags then got organized again, finishing up on the spell.
Dum goo-dily doo-dily doo-dily dum,
This is the best part, now!
Higitus figitus migitus mum,
Prestidigitonium!
Higitus figitus migitus mum,
Prestidigitoni...um!
He then slipped off of the stool as the spell finished, all the bags in the single carry bag he had as he chuckled, getting back up as he picked up the bag.
"That should do it." Spyro said, ahnding the bag to Rarity.
"Wow, where did you learn that?" Twilight asked.
"Merlin taught me how to do that." Spyro replied. "In case I need to pack as much as possible before heading out on a mission."
"I must say, it's a rather intriguing way to pack." Rarity said. "But, how do you get it all out?"
"Oh, just open the bag and everything in it will come back out." Spyro said. "Now come on, we got a train to catch!"
They all cheered and got on the train before it could leave the station, getting on and riding along the tracks on their way to Manehattan. Elsewhere at the Nobody Stronghold, Xemnas and Ansem were in a room waiting for someone to arrive and a moment later, Larxene and Demyx walked in, approaching their leaders as they had their backs to them.
"You summoned us sir?" Larxene asked.
"I have." Xemnas said, walking to them. "I have a special goal for you Larxene. There are four worlds that I need you to visit. We are running short on Nobodies and I need you to hunt down and turn as many people as possible into both Heartless and Nobodies."
"And why send me to do this anyway?" Larxene asked. "Why not ask the useless idiot here to do that, make him useful for a change."
"Hey!" Demyx shouted.
"No, we have a different mission for him." Ansem said. "Malefor has been making some very strange moves recently. He has invaded several worlds already, one of which being destroyed, but other than that, his attacks hold no merit or meaning. He sends a new pawn to each world, but has rarely attacked or sent his Grublins to do any kind of damage."
"And why is that concerning exactly?" Demyx asked, scratching the back of his head and looking bored. "Doesn't sound like it's of any concern to us. Let the man be himself and leave us be."
"That Demyx is exactly why we are taking an interest in what he's doing." Xemnas replied. "We need to figure out what he is up to and for that, we are going to need some insight. When he makes a move, be sure you're there to observe and figure out what he's up to. Gather as much information as you can, no matter how you get it. We need to figure out what he's planning and be ready for it."
"But what about the prince?" Larxene asked, crossing her arms. "Dude's getting stronger with each day and I don't think a few Nobodies and Heartless are going to change a thing."
"Trust me, these worlds are not your regular worlds." Ansem replied. "Their destruction could bring in a whole new wave of special Heartless and Nobodies. Especially powerful ones. Leave not a single being without their hearts. Understand?"
"Crystal clear sir." Larxene said sarcastically.
She then turned and walked away, Demyx following suit as the two leaders returned to the window to look out, but instead of following Larxene the entire way, Demyx ducked down one of the corridors, makign sure no one would see him before a corridor opened up next to him, passing through to leave the place. Meanwhile in Equestria, the train coming in from Ponyville was just pulling up to the station and everyone getting off, seeing the large city of Manehattan up close, everyone looking at it in wonder as they left the station.
"Wow, this place is amazing." Octavia said. "Pride or any of the other rings doesn't have anything as nice as this."
"Yes, it is quite lovely isn't it?" Rarity sked. "Come along ponies. I found a place only a block away from here in the heart of this glorious metropolis."
They then followed Rarity to the place she had found, seeing all of the sights as they went to the place they were going to be staying, walking past the theater that the Hinny and the Hills show would be held in, which the girls were talking about as they went, but as they went, a corridor opened and from it, Demyx walked out, falling down on the ground a moment later and groaning as he rubbed his head.
"Ugh, what a drag." Demyx said. "Knew I should have practiced walking on four legs."
"it must be good if even Rainbow Dash is talkin' about it." Applejack said, getting Demyx's attention as he looked to his right and saw them walk by. "She's usually not a musical kind of pony."
"I know." Rainbow Dash said as music started to play. "I mean, ponies bursting into a song at random, even at the drop of a hat? Who does that?"
[Rarity]
Oh, Manehattan, what you do to me!
"I think you have your answer there Rainbow." Spyro said.
Such a huge bustling community,
And there's always opportunity,
To dothefriendly thing!
They continued to walk through the city with Demyx close behind, ducking to avoid being spotted as SPyro looked back, knowing they were being followed and kept his guard up.
If someare grouchy, pay no mind,
Surprise insteadwith something kind.
Lo and behold, you may just find,
A smile is what you bring.
they then came to the hotel they would be staying in, approaching the door as a pony rolling a luggage cart came out to greet them, smiling as they came by.
[Luggage Cart]
Welcome to the Manefair Hotel.
Please allow me to take those bags to your room for you.
[Rarity]
Only if you'll accept this gratuity first.
She then levitated a large gem to the pony, which he was surprised as she put it in his pocket.
[Luggage Cart]
Oh-ho-ho
I'll get your change.
[Rarity]
Do keep it all I insist.
They then boarded a ship, which Spyro was surprised they had boats, especially since they had boats this nice before having phones.
Generosity, I'm here to show all that I can give!
Generosity, I'm here to set the bar!
Just sit back and watch how I live!
They came to the pony version of the Statue of liberty, Rarity going to some binoculars that were mounted to the side, which another pony was reaching for them, but she smiled and stepped back.
After you.
[Tourist Pony 1]
Why thank you!
Another pony looked to be very cold, shivering and his teeth chattering as Rarity wrapped her scarf around him.
[Rarity]
Please, take mine.
[Wisp]
Wow, okay
[Rarity]
Some may say, "Rarity
Don't be so big-hearted and bold."
Treating strangers like they're friends,
This town's too big and cold!
They walked through the city to continue looking around, Rarity accidently running into a guy, who turned and sneered at her, but Spyro got in the way, glaring down at him to keep her safe, but Rarity presented him with a flower, bringing a smile to his face and forgiving the incident.
But this is how I play my cards,
I'm not about to fold!
Where I see a frown, I go to town,
Call me the smile patrol!
[Rainbow Dash]
Oh, Manehattan, what you do to us...
[Fluttershy]
What if you find a Gloomy Gus?
They looked and saw a taxi with a broken wheel, which Applejack went under to lift it up as Spyro rushed over and helped her to make sure she didn't overwhelm herself.
[Applejack]
It's no intimidatin' thing,
[Spyro]
To do what you believe is right,
[Pinkie Pie]
And just be kind without a fuss!
[Rarity]
Generosity, I'm here to show all that I can do!
She trotted over and looked at the broken wheel, using her magic to fully restore it, Spyro and Applejack putting the cart down as the passanger waved, thanking them as the taxi took off.
Generosity, you are the key!
Manehattan, I'm here just for you,
Just for you!
The song ended as the group walked along the sidewalk, Spyro sensing they were being followed as he looked back and saw a shadow dip behind a building, now knowing that something was wrong.
"Oh, you think my dresses will someday be displayed in the most glamorous thoroughfare of the of the most glamorous city acorss all of Equestria!?" Rarity asked, clearly in heaven. "Oh, it would be my dream come true."
"I'm sure you will achieve your goal someday Rarity." Twilight said. "Is there anything else we can do to help you?"
"Hmm, nothing I can think of." Rarity replied. "The dresses are all complete, made from a new fabric I made. It's stretchy, but yet not too clingy. Shimmery, yet not too showy.'
"Sounds amazing." Fluttershy said.
"There's nothing left for me to do except to check my dresses in by two this afternoon." Rarity said.
"Uh, you better get moving then." Spyro said, looking to the clock as a storm was coming. "Because that's in only ten minutes."
Lightning then boomed as the rain started, everyone but Spyro and his friends running for cover to avoid the rain while Rarity looked on in horror.
"Oh my, my ribbons and threads!" Rarity said. "They're back at the hotel and the runway is on the other side of the city! And if I don't make it, I'm disqualified!"
"Quick, we need to find a taxi, stat!" Applejack said.
As the girls ran forward, Spyro remained where he was, sensing that the pony who was following them was right behind them and wanted to see who it was.
"Spyro, you coming!?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Just go, I'll catch up." Spyro replied. Rainbow Dash then took off, heading to rejoin her friends while Spyro remained where he was, waiting for whoever it was to come out of hiding and then felt someone put their hoof on his shoulder, grabbing them and Judo flipping them over his back and getting ready to knock them out when he noticed it was Demyx, immediately looking surprised as he saw him. "Demyx?"
"Good to see you too pal." Demyx said, Spyro helping him up.
"Dude, what are you doing lurking in the shadows?" Spyro asked. "I could have knocked your head off and use it for a bowling ball."
"Heh, no way that doesn't sound scary." Demyx said. "Not to mention you could actually have the guts to do it. But I came here to let you know, the Organization is on the move. Ansem and Xemnas has sent Larxene to four worlds to begin making more Nobodies and heartless to use against you."
"Oh great, the Storming Nymph again." Spyro said. "I swear, I have more encounters with Marluxia and Larxene than I do with Sïax and Xigbar. I'll let Sora and Riku know to keep an eye out for her."
"That's not all." Demyx said. "Ansem has ordered me to keep an eye on Malefor and his cronies. He says that dragon's been too quiet for the last few months and he doesn't like it. Saying he's invaded a few worlds, but had little to no grublin activity."
"Yeah, I've been there." Spyro replied. "He took a couple of things of blood and fragments from an Abstract. He's up to something, but I don't know what."
"Hmm, this is weird." Demyx said. "What's he up to?"
"No idea, and I don't like it." Spyro replied. He then looked to Demyx, seeing the Nobody before him as he knew he needed his help, taking in a deep breath as he approached him. "Demyx, I need to ask a favor of you. A huge favor."
"What is it?" Demyx asked. Spyro approached him and whispered in the Nobodies ear, which he looked surprised as soon as Spyro asked and looked at him. "You serious?"
"Dead serious." Spyro replied.
"Eh, alright then." Demyx replied. "But you owe me one."
A moment, a corridor opened up behind him and Demyx walked through it, leaving Spyro alone as his friends all ran up to him.
"Spyro, we got a huge problem!" Twilight said.
"What's wrong?" Spyro asked. "Didn't find a cab?"
"Oh, we found one, but Rarity forgot her dresses!" Pinkie replied.
"They're still at the hotel!" Twilight said. "And we have less than seven minutes to get them there!"
"Seven minutes?" Spyro asked, chuckling to himself. "Childs play."
Spyro brought out his sling ring, grinning as he stood on his hind legs and spun his hoof around, opening a portal for them all as they ran in. Meanwhile, in a building that held the runway that would be used for Fashion week, Rarity ran in, breathing heavily as she went to the receptionists desk.
"Good afternoon!" Rarity said. "I'm here for fashion week!"
"The others are already in front of the stage and about ready to start." The receptionist said. "Youll have to bring your dresses with you to the back of the stage and wait your turn."
"My dresses!?" Rarity asked, realizing she had forgotten them. "I forgot my dresses! I'm doomed!"
"Hey rare." Spyro said, he and the pony who took their luggage walking in.
"Spyro?" Rarity asked. "How did you get here?"
"He opendd up a portal ma'am." The luggage pony said, bringing the cart of her dresses with her. "Your friends told me how important these dresses were to you, so I brought them to you."
"You're a life saver!" Rarity shouted, giving him another gem as she rushed to the stage. Spyro thought that since he was there he'd follow after her, entering the room and seeing that there were several other fashion ponies, Rarity and Spyro joining them. "Phew, made it! And with only seconds to spare."
"Ms. Rarity I presume?" A mare asked.
Both Spyro and Rarity looked ot the direction of the voice, seeing that it was a dark grey pony with a pink mane and elegant dress shirt with a spool of thread and gold scissors for her cutie mark.
"Oh, Ms. Prim Hemline." Rarity said. "You must be the host of this grand event. How do you-"
"Ms. Rarity, how is it that your competitors are here before you by half an hour early while you arrived seconds before we begin?" Prim Hemline asked.
"Hey, give us a break." Spyro said. "Traffic was murder."
"Hmph, that's actually believable." Prim hemline said, walking away from them. "Alright everypony, once you're done here, you'll finish setting up backstage so you'll be ready for your run-through appointment." She then walked to Rarity, lookign down at her as she approached. "You Ms. Rarity will go last. Try to be more than a few seconds early."
"Geez, what a grouch." Spyro said.
"Tomorrow is the contest to see which of you will get to stay to meet all of the top designers all across the city." Prim Hemline continued. "The rest of you will go home early. So sad."
She the flicker her tail, walking away from everyone as they all scattered to get their dresses ready, Rarity and SPyro checking on Rarity's dresses to make sure everything was alright as a pink pony with purple hair, wearing a blue scarf and three buttons for her cutie mark approached them.
"Rarity, it's good to see you make it." The pony said.
"I'm glad I made it too." Rarity said, turning to her. "Everything always seems to turn out great for me."
"Why Rarity, don;t you remember me?" The pony asked. "Suri Polomare from the Ponyville Knitters league?"
"Oh, of course." Rarity said, obviously not remembering her. "I knew you looked familiar. Why, I haven't seen you in years."
"Oh, that's because I moved here to make it in the big city." Suri replied, looking to Spyro. "And whose this stud?"
"Oh, this is Spyro, my colt friend." Rarity replied.
"Wait, as in the Prince of Light and Darkness?" Suri asked, looking surprised. "Why Rarity, how in all of Equestria did you nail this stud?"
"Oh,I was just lucky, that's all." Rarity said, leaning into him when she noticed his jacket, seeing a cut in it. "Spyro, your jacket's damaged."
"Wait what?" Spyro asked, looking at it. "Ah crud. Must have happened after I Judo flipped Demyx."
"Demyx?" Rarity asked. "He's here?"
"Yeah, but he's good." Spyro replied. "Gave me a warning about what the Organizations doing, that's all."
"Oh Spyro dear, let me repair that for you." Rarity said, pulling out a black jacket. "Besides, you look better in black anyway."
"Heh, if you insist." Spyro replied.
He then removed his jacket to take the one Rarity had presented him, Suri getting a look at him, but her eyes widened when she noticed the chest plate armor he had on, seeing how it sparkled and was immediately hooked.
"Oh la la, what have we here?" Suri asked, walking around him and looking at the armor. "Why Rarity, not only is your coltfriend a hunk, he's wearing some beautiful clothing. Did you make that?"
"Oh no, Spyro is the one that made it." Rarity replied, Suri looking at her in surprise. "I couldn't dream of making something so sophisticated and sciency."
Suri then touched the armor, Spyro sensing something was off with Suri as she touched it and seeing the smile on her face as she looked up at him.
"Why, it's made of metal." Suri said. "Yet it feels so light. What exactly is it?"
"It's armor." Spyro replied, putting the jacket on. "It's made from two indestructible metals; Beskar and Vibranium. The Beskar absorbs thermal energy and disperses it arcoss the surface to allow the armor to survive temperatures up to twenty-six hundred degrees Celsius and the Vibranium absorbs kinatic energy and stores it so the wearer can direct it as they please, providing complete protection for the wearer without any harm coming to them from outside elements."
"Oh my, that is quite the armor you have there." Suri said, grinning as she saw it. "So... where exactly did you get the materials?"
"Sorry, that's a secret." Spyro replied. "Plus, they're not for fashion, but for armor only."
"Aw, too bad." Suri said. "Well, could I help you with your dresses at least?"
"Oh, thank you Suri." Rarity said.
The three of them walked to the back of the stage, heading into the back rooms where Rarity revealed her dresses, which were purple in color and they seemed to move on their own, the fabric having waves moving in it.
"Oh my, your collection is gorgeous." Suri said.
"Oh, thank you dear." Rarity said. "But I bet your collection is just as gorgeous."
"Oh, they're alright, but nothing like this." Suri said. "Why, my culottes for example, they're crying out for the right accent and I haven't found the right thing for them." She then looked at Rarity's dresses and smiled as she walked up to her. "Actually, a touch of the fabric you have on thise dresses might just be the thing I need. Would you mind if I took a little?"
"Oh not at all." Rarity said. "I've got loads more."
"Rarity." Spyro said, getting her attention. "A moment if you please." They walked to the other side of the room where they could talk without being heard. "I'm not so sure sharing your fabric with a competitor is a good idea. Besides, being too generous will end up making you vulnerable to being manipulatesWho knows what they'll do with it or if they'll claim that it's their's originally."
"Oh Spyro dear, you worry too much." Rarity replied. "Besides, if it will help her and make her happy, why not share?"
She walked over and presented the fabric to Suri, who looked at it in wonder and in surprise as she returned her gaze to Rarity.
"You sure it's alright for me to take it?" Suri asked.
"Of course dear." Rarity said. "Well, it's been great catching up with you, and I don't like to be rude, but I need to finish my preparations and I'm a bit late as it..."
She looked back and saw Suri was gone, being a bit confused, but didn't pay it no mind and went back to finishing her preparations while Spyro looked out the door, knowing that this was going to backfire on Rarity in an instant. A little while later, Rarity and Spyro were at the receptionists desk, awaiting for the receptionist to put down that Rarity was ready to go while Spyro was still a little on edge, having a bad feeling that Rarity's generosity might end up backfiring on her after giving Suri some of her fabric.
"Rarity, I still think that giving Suri that Fabric was a bad idea." Spyro said.
"Oh relax darling." Rarity said. "It doesn't hurt to be a little generous to others, especially when they need some help."
"But sharing your fabric with a competitor?" Spyro asked. "No way that's not going to blow up in your face. Besides, i didn't like the way she was asking about my armor or if there was anymore of it. That raised too many red flags with me."
"Oh, you worry too much." Rarity said, approaching the receptionist. "Hello, I'm here for my runway appointment, half an hour early as per instructed by Ms. Prim Hemline."
"Wait in line over there." The receptionist said, pointing to the line over there before looking at Rarity's dresses. "Oh my, those dresses are gorgeous. Expecially the fabric. Did you make that?"
"Why certainly darling." Rarity replied. "It's stretchy, but not too clingy. Shimery, but-"
"Not too showy." Suri said, getting both Rarity's and Spyro's attention. They both walked to the stage, wondering what was going on and when they arrived, Rarity gasped in horror, finding that Suri's entire line was a nearly identical copy to hers, except there was blue fabric sewed into it. "And the entire line is int he same adorable and gorgeous pattern. It works on everything from skirts to tops to shoes."
Prim Hemline was clapping for Suri, not realizing that the entire line was a copy of Rarity's.
"Bravo!" Prim Hemline said. "I've never seen anything like it. You truly are an amazing fashion designer!"
Suri smiled to herself, walking off the stage as Rarity stormed over to her, furious about what she did and wanted to confront her.
"You thief!" Rarity said as Spyro walked over. "You stole my fabric!"
"Oh Rarity, please." Suri said. "You gave me the fabric, remeber?"
"For accents!" Rarity said. "Not to make your entire line out of it! And how in all of Equestria could you make your line out of it so fast!?"
"Fast?" Suri asked, laughing before pointing to a light amber colored earth pony with a mane that had two different colors of cyan, a red hair clip and a purple collar with a red tie on it. "Coco Pommel took forever to get these dresses made and almost got me disqualified."
"Well, i wanted to make sure you won." Coco Pommel replied. "So I took the extra time to-"
"Quiet!" Suri exclaimed, silencing Coco. "I pay an assistant to sew and get coffe, not to talk."
"Hey." Spyro said, firm yet not too loud, getting their attention. "Not only did you steal Rarity's fabric, despite her giving it to you only for accents, but you weren't the one who sewed these in the first place? You're just sad."
"Y-you stole the fabric?" Coco asked.
"I stole nothing." Suri said, walking past him. "She gave me the fabric, so why not add a little more flare to my designs?" She walked over to a heart broken Rarity. "Oh Rarity, don't blame yourself. It takes a while for a small town filly to understand that in the big city, it's every pony for themselves."
Rarity was conpletely crushed, running out of the room in tears while Spyro glared at Suri, seeing how smug she was as she walked past him.
"Don't go thinking you've won this thing Suri." Spyro said, his eyes turning to sith eyes as she walked past. "Time has a way of righting all wrongs."
"Oh please, spare me the lecture." Suri said. "Even if Rarity went to Prim Hemline and told her that the fabric was originally hers, she won't believe her and she'll be disqualified. And if she comes to the show with her line, she'll be disqualified as a copycat. It's and win-win situation for me." She then turned to Coco, who seemed nervous as soon as Suri looked at her. "And you!?" I hope you understand how lucky you are to have me as a mentor. Now go get me some coffee!"
Coco then ran out of the room, leaving Suri there to move her line out and off the stage while Spyro glared at her, despising her for what she had done.
"So, you believe you can get away with what you've done little thief?" Spyro asked, smiling as he reached into his coat. "Don't worry, as I mentioned..." He then pulled out his sling ring, putting it on as purple sparks appeared before they turned green, Spyro smiling as his eyes went back to normal. "Time has a way of righting wrongs."
At the hotel, Rarity was running to her room, her eyes filled with tears, heart broken at what Suri, who she thought was her friend, had done to her, walking in to see her friends laughing as Spike was carrying the bags of souvenirs that they had bought. A moment later, while everyone else was laughing, Rainbow Dash had noticed that Rarity had entered the room, but was in tears, knowing that something was wrong.
"Rarity, are you ok?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"You got the dresses the bellhop brought you, right?" Pinkie asked.
However, Rarity walked over to the bed, reaching it and flopping down in the bed as she burst into tears, everyone walking over and seeing how upset she was and thought the worse.
"But... the bellhop said he brought them thanks to Spyro opening up a portal." Rainbow Dash said.
"And then Suri stole them!" Rarity exclaimed, crying her eyes out. "How could I have allowed one of the other contestants use my one-of-a-kind fabric!? She turned it into a wardrobe like mine and made it look like I copied her! Spyro was right! Being too generous made me vulnerable to being manipulated!" She put the pillow over her head, continuing to cry her eyes out as she felt like her life was ruined. "My generosity has ruined me!"
"Oh Rarity, don't cry." Twilight said. "We're here to help you, no matter what. And no matter what it takes."
"Yeah Rarity, dry those eyes." Applejack said. "We can help ya to fix this whole thing. All we need is some fabric and we'll be back in business."
"Rarity looked up to her friends, seeing how ready they were to help her and then looked around the room, seeing the curtains an d the carpet before picking up the sheets on the bed, inspriation hitting her as suddenly had an idea for a new line.
"That's it!" Rarity said. "A new line that will be even better than the last one! It's daring, it's bold! Maybe I still have a chance after all!"
"You can count on us to help you." Applejack said. "Just tell us what ya need."
Rarity smiled as she felt hopeful again, getting evrrything she needed to get started on the new line to try and over take Suri's copycat designs. Meanwhile out side and on one of the roofs of the buildings, Spyro was sitting on the edge, leaning back while also having some Sea Salt ice cream, feeling proud of himself for what he had just accomplished, but there was something in his gut that was telling him that something was about to happen, but he didn't know what. As the sun was beginning to set, a corridor opened up next to him and from it, Demyx walked through, approaching Spyro and hopping his front half up and leaning against the ledge to watch the sunset.
"Beautiful, is it not?" Spyro asked, eating his ice cream.
"Indeed, it is." Demyx replied as Spyro tossed him some ice cream, eating it. "Now I understand why you fight tooth and nail to keep this place safe. This city is quite amazing. But I bet the rest of this world is just as nice, if not better."
"Yeah, a great place to start a family." Spyro said, smiling as he leaned forward and looked out, thinking about his future as Demyx looked at him.
"So, how Applejack doing" Demyx asked. "Is she excited to be a mother as you are to be a father?"
"She's more than excited." Spyro said, looking to him. "She's positively glowing. It's only been a couple of months now, but it feels like an eternity for us."
"I bet it does." Demyx said, earting the ice cream. "Oh, and I found who you wanted me to find. They're doing alright, but I left a couple of Dusks to keep an eye on them. They'll let me know if anything changes."
"Good." Spyro said, finishing off his ice cream. "I'm glad to have you as a friend Demyx, despite our current disposition."
"Hey, you gave me a chance Spyro, despite how it went." Demyx said. "But I'm glad you did. And I'll make sure you don't regret it." He then went to eat his ice cream, looking down and noticing it had melted over his hand, shaking it as he looked at his hoof in defeat. "Like how I regret not eating that ice cream faster."
Spyro couldn't help but laugh at him, finding humor in what had just occured as he looked att he city, marveling at how beautiful it was when he looked to the hotel they were staying at, noticing Rarity quickly rushing out of it with what seemed like a new line of clothing and decided to see what was going on. he got up and did a backflip off the building, nose diving down for a little bit before unfolding his wings, pu;lling up and swinging wide to avoid a taxi as he flew right next to her, landing and running along side her.
"Rarity, what's going on?" Spyro asked, looking at the clothing rack. "Is that a new line?"
"It is darling." Rarity said, running on. "The girls made a whole new line just for me to present at the contest!"
"Wow, that quickly?" Spyro asked, looking at the rack.
"I kinda had to push them a bit." Rarity said. "They wanted to go see Hinny of the Hills, but I told them to go and do it, but there wouldn't be any fashion for them to see tomorrow!"
"Rarity." Spyro said, surprised by how she acted. "They're your friends."
"They didn't act like it when I needed them in my hour of need!" Rarity said. "In the big city, it's every pony for themselves."
"You know who you sound like?" Spyro asked. "You sound like Suri, who doesn't care about anyone but herself. She pushes others around to get what she wants, manipulates and eventually hurt them. You are nothing like that Rare. Don't cross that line."
Rarity didn;'t listen to him, running ahead to get to the stage in time for her turn so that she could show off what she had and put Suri in her place, Spyro stopping and watching her as she ran to the stage. A while later, Rarity had just made it to the stage as Suri's turn was over, everyone applauding her for the fabric she used to make her entire line, stealing her work for herself.
"Let's hear it for Suri and her original fabric!" Prim Hemline said.
Suri took a bow one more time before walking to the back of the stage, seeing Rarity there and smiling as she approached.
"Oh, look who's here." Suri said. "Here to show your copycat designs?"
"Actually, I'm here to put you in your place." Rarity said with a smile.
"And now Rarity from Ponyville!" Prim Hemline announced. "With her bran new line, and I definitely mean brand new, Hotel Chic."
A moment later, the curtains pulled back as Spyro had arrived to show some support for her and when he arrived, he saw that the mare who was wearing the first dress on Rarity's new line looked like something from the bed sheets mixed with some of the keys with the room tags, a lamp shade for a hat, and a bar of soap for a necklace, everyone wowing what they saw, moving onto the next mare, which her clothing looking like the curtain from the hotel, everyone clapping for what they was as Rarity looked happy.
"They like it." Rarity said. "They really like it! Oh, I can't wait to celebrate with my..." She then looked to the section of the bleachers where she expected her friends to be, finding it empty and wondering where they were at until she remembered what she did, how she pushed her friends to make her new line, not caring about how they felt and some of the nasty things she said to them, starring at the bleachers as she felt her heart grow heavy. "My friends."
"You sound like Suri." Spyro said, Rarity remembering what he said to her. "Who doesn't care about anyone but herself. She pushes others around to get what she wants, manipulates and eventually hurt them. You are nothing like that Rare. Don't cross that line."
"What have I done?" Rarity asked herself as Spyro walked up to see how she was doing, seeing how she looked.
"Rarity, your dresses are amazing!" Prim Hemline said. "Aren't you going to go out and tell them about your pieces?"
Rarity didn't answer, looking to the reserved section of the bleachers as she suddenly felt something call to her, the stanchion standing there until a rainbow went across the rope, the same rainbow appearing in Rartiy's eyes as she now understood what she had done and what she needs to do.
"I need to go." Rarity said, running from the stage.
"Wait, where are you going!?" Prim Hemline asked, seeing her run away.
"Rare, wait!" Spyro shouted, running after her.
He ran after her to catch up, hoping to get to her before she got to far while Suri Polomare smirked as she watched her competition run.
"Looks like Rarity's throwing in the towel." Suri said, making him stop. "Guess she's not the fashionista she thinks she is."
"At least she isn't a theiving cheat." Spyro said, turning to her. "A theif who steals others hard work and makes it her own."
"She gave me the fabric willingly." Suri said, turning away from him. "At least I have what it takes to do what I must to come out on top."
She then walked away, Coco Pommel walking after her, but she looked remorseful for what she did, Spyro sensing her feelings as she walked.
"You're nothing like her Coco." Spyro said, getting her attention. "I can tell she isn't a true designer. She's only piggy backing off you and passing your work as her own."
"Oh no, she's the one who-" Coco said before hearing the ponies in the room clap.
"You know she's just using you." Spyro said. "You're the one with talent. She doesn't have any. The longer you lie to yourself and let her manipulate and walk all over you, telling you how useless you are, then you loose more and more of your own self worth and confidence. You know the truth, don't let her win. Time will always right the wrong."
Spyro then ran after Rarity, leaving Coco standing there to think about what he said, looking to the stage and seeing Suri smile at what she had done, looking at the dresses she was forced to make and seeing the ones that Rarity had brought and how she decided to give up the prize to be with her friends, looking down at the ground as she thought it over. In the city, Spyro was running to the hotel, thinking that she would go there to find their friends only for it to start raining, so he casted a protection spell to keep himself dry, but as he got closer to the hotel, she spotted Rarity walking towards him, looking down in the dumps and crushed.
"What have I done?" Rarity asked, allowing the rain to ruin her mane.
"Rarity?" Spyro asked, walking to her. "Where are the others?"
"Gone." Rarity replied, walking past him. "Probably back to Ponyville with how I treated them. They worked so hard on thise dresses for me and I never thanked them." A moment later, sad music started to play as she walked, Spyro right behind her and wanting to use his spell to prevent her from getting wet as she continued to walk. "Some friend I am."
The music continued as they walked, Rarity looking for her friends as the music played in the background as they walked.
[Rarity]
Oh, Manehattan, what have I done?
The thought of Fashion Week was fun,
But I went too far.
My friends gave to me in ways so kind,
And I gave them nothing but a hard time!
She was looking into one of the shop windows, looking at one of the dresses and imagining her friends looking at it in admiration before they disappeared, Rarity turning to the street and seeing how empty it was as she shed a tear, sitting on the ground in defeat.
And now alone I stand.
And now alone I stand.
Spyro was nearby, seeing how upset she was and walked over to her, using his spell to protect her from the rain as he sat down next to her, wrapping his wing around her.
"Rarity, you ok?" Spyro asked.
"Oh Spyro, you were right." Rarity said. "I shouldn't have given Suri my fabric and she stole my work. And because of it, I was so focused on wanting to beat her that I ended up overworking my friends and forced them to make the dresses and I never really thanked them." She then leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulders as she started to cry. "I'm a terrible friend."
"Hey, the past is the past, we can't change what happened." Spyro said. "But I'm sure your friends will forgive you."
"How can you be sure?" Rarity asked.
"Because I know them very well." Spyro said, hugging her. "Just like I know you very well as well." He then placed a kiss on her head, which seemed to bring her some comfort as she hugged him back, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the moment wiht him before ending it. "Now come on, we still got time to return to the Fashion show and-"
"Thank you, but I need to find my friends." Rarity said, getting up and walking away. "If I win, could you accept the award on my behalf?"
"Of course Rare." Spyro replied. "Try the theater where Hinny and the Hills is playing. Maybe they're there." She smiled at him, running in the direction of the theater to find her friends, but Spyro's smile then turned into a frown, looking in the direction that the Fashion show was in as he got up. "Suri Polomare, you're hour of judgement has come."
A second later, a small swirl of purple sparks appeared behind him, growing larger until it was large enough for him to go through, the portal moving forward as he was transported to back stage, walking past surprised ponies as they wndered where he came from as he went to the stage and saw that Prim Hemline was getting ready to announce the winner.
"And the winner of Fashion week is... Rarity!" Prim Hemline said, the crowd cheering for her. "Unfortunately, she had to run off to do something, so the award shall go to Sur-"
"No, it should go to Rarity!" Coco said, walking past Suri.
"Keep your trap shut." Suri said.
"No, not this time." Coco said, backing away. "I'm done being walked all over. With you using me to make your stupid dresses and forcing me to keep quiet all the time!"
"I said shut up!" Suri said.
"You stole that Fabric!" Coco said, shocking everyone. "I heard what Rarity and her colt friend say! You used Rarity's Fabric and made me make a whole line from it when it was only to be used for accents for your line!"
"Ha, like you can prove that." Suri said, flicking her head as a green swirl appeared behind her as she walked, growing bigger as she went to center stage, everyone's eyes growing wide as they saw the swirl while Suri was oblivious to it. "I promise you, this fabric is of my own creation, as are the dresses. I can assure you that everything my assistant is saying is-"
"Oh my, your collection is gorgeous." Suri's past self said, Suri looking back in frieght as she heard it and saw the vortex, seeing the exact moment that Rarity was giving her the fabric.
"Oh, thank you dear." Rarity's past self said. "But I bet your collection is just as gorgeous."
"Oh, they're alright, but nothing like this." Suri's past self replied. "Why, my culottes for example, they're crying out for the right accent and I haven't found the right thing for them." It then went to the moment where she smirked, her getting the idea of copying Rarity's work. "Actually, a touch of the fabric you have on thise dresses might just be the thing I need. Would you mind if I took a little?"
"Oh not at all." Rarity replied, the moment where she picked up the fabric from her bag and everyone gasped in surprise. "I've got loads more."
"N-no, this can't be!" Suri said as the vortex turned green.
"You cheater!" Someone shouted from the audience.
"Theif!" Another shouted.
"Copycat!" A mare's voice said, revealing it was Sapphire Shores. "I knew there was something familiar with that work! That fabric is one hundred percent Rarity! I bought a dozen suits from her and they were magnificent!"
"I also knew there was something familiar about them." A stallions voice said, revealing it was Hoity Toity. "That is most certainly Rarity's work. You are a disgrace to the fashion community."
They all turned on Suri, who looked horrified that she was exposed for what she did, turning to run as the vortex closed and standing there was Spyro, which she saw his eyes were green as he smiled at her.
"I told you." Spyro said as his eyes returned to normal. "Time has a way of righting all wrongs." She was horrified to see Spyro as the audience booed her, forcing her to run off the stage while Spyro and Coco watched her flee, avoiding the crowd as she fled in disgrace. "She won't be able to recover after this."
"Yeah." Coco said, lowering her head in defeat as Spyro looked at her, smiling as he wrapped a wing around her.
"Hey, it took a lot of courage to stand up for what you knew was right." Spyro said, smiling at her. "You have a bright future ahead of you, Ms. Coco Pommel."
"Y-you really think so?" Coco asked, surprised to hear that.
"I know so." Spyro replied. He then walked up to Prim Hemline, who was trying to address the crowd and calm them down and he raised his hoof, everyone falling silent as she looked at him. "I just have that effect on ponies."
"Well, because the truth about Ms. Suri Polomare has been revealed, there's no pony to accept the award." Prim Hemline said.
"Actually before Rarity went to find her friends, she asked me to accept the awar for her incase she won." Spyro said.
"She did?" Prim Hemline asked, which the judges nodded, approving it. "Well, since the judges agree, I don't see why not."
She then gave the award to Spyro, which the crowd cheered for him as he waved his foreleg as he left the stage, Coco Pommel waiting at the side of the stage as he approached.
"Thank you, for helping me to find the courage to stand up against Suri." Coco Pommel said. "Though, I think I might be out of a job now."
"Oh, don't worry." SPyro said, putting his hoof on her shoulder. "My friends and i will help you find something to help you out. If there's one thing we don't do, it's leave a friend to fend for themselves." Coco looked up at him, smiling sheepishly as she looked at him. "Come on, let's go find my friends."
"But... where the heck will we find them?" Coco asked. "It's late."
"Hmm, I think I have an idea where we can find them." Spyro said.
They walked through the city, heading to the theater where Hinny and the Hills was being played at and they alked in, seeing that his friends were sitting there, enjoying the show as it ended, everyone clapping for the endng of the show.
"That was even better than Ah imagined." Applejack said.
"It was fantastic!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed as she flew to the air. "I loved it!" She then looked down and saw that everyone was looking at her, which she flew down sheepishly and sat back where she was originally. "I mean, it was alright."
They laughed at Rainbow Dash as she tried to play it cool as twilight looked to Rarity.
"Rarity, how did you manage to convince them to do an extra performance just for us?" Twilight asked.
"Well, remember the costume designer who got me the tickets?" Rarity asked, which everyone remembered. "Well, in exchange for them to do a private performance for us, I offered to do all the costumes for their next show."
"Does that mean... you're staying in Manehattan?" Fluttershy asked.
Rarity looked at Fluttershy, seeing how upset she was before looking to who friends who were waiting for an answer.
"Well, uh, I'm afraid so." Rarity replied, everyone looking sad. "It will keep me away from Ponyville for quite a while. But I so wanted all of you to see this show after I worked you girls so hard making those dresses for me. And working for this designer is such a huge opportunity."
"We know Rarity." Applejack said. "And we're happy for ya. We're just going to miss you, that's all."
"Hey girls." Spyro said, he and Coco Pommel walking down to them.
"Spyro darling!" Rarity said, running to him and hugging him. "Oh, I'm glad to see you."
"It's good to see you as well." Spyro said. "I've got something for you."
He reached into his bag and pulled out the first place trophy, surprising her.
"The first place trophy for fashion week?" Rarity asked.
"Your dresses won Rare." Spyro said. "And Coco here spoke the truth about her boss and how she stole your designs."
"Suri tried to claim it, but I knew that it was wrong." Coco Pommel said. "So I spoke out against her, but then these green sparks appeared and revealed the truth about Suri and that Rarity is the one who made the fabric she used."
"Green sparks?" Twilight asked, looking to Spyro, who shrugged his shoulders, a mischievous smile appearing on his face.
"She thought that if Rarity didn't claim it or somepony who knew her would come pick it up, she thought it would be a forfeit and it nearly was." Coco Pommel said. "I knew how mean Suri was, but I never thought she'd steal the fabric and lie to try and win. I worked for her for so long, I started to believe that it was everypony for themselves, like she always said. But then I saw how generous Rarity was and how generous her friends were with her. So I thought about myself and thinking there was something better for me, so I spoke out against Suri. And I guess I lost my job as well."
"I was thinking there was something we could do for her after how she stood up against Suri." Spyro said.
"Actually, there is." Rarity said. "How would you like to work for my friend making the costumes for his next show?"
"You mean that!?" Coco Pommel asked, looking extremely happy.
"Why certainly." Rarity said. "I just need to talk with him and see if he'll agree to it."
"Oh, thank you so much Rarity!" Coco said, hugging her. "Oh, I almost forgot. I got soemthing for you, to say thanks for opening my eyes to other possibilities and now for this amazing opportunity."
She opened her saddle bag and pulled out a small gift for her, which she opened it and it revealed to be rainbow colored thread, smiling as she looked up at Coco. After the show, Rarity spoke with her friend, who was actually pleased to have Coco Pommel work for her as he was there at the show and saw how brave she was, standing up against Suri, so he was more than happy to give her the job. Back at the hotel, they had to give the group seperate rooms since the large suite was destroyed after Rarity's little 'inspiration rush' so Spyro took care of the damages, using some bits and creating some crystals to cover all of the damages before walking up the stairs to the floor everyone was staying at, each having a couple of beds for each of them, Spyro going to his room where he knew AJ was at.
"Oh Spyro dear." Rarity said, Spyro looking to her and seeing her head poking out. "Could I bother you for a moment?"
"Sure Rare." Spyro said, walking to her as she opened the door for him before closing it behind them, Spyro looking to her as she approached.
"Spyro darling, I wanted to thank you for supporting me, despite what I did to our friends." Rarity said, sitting on the bed. "You're such a dear."
"Of course Rare." Spyro said, sitting next to her. "You're my friend and a member of my herd. "I'd do anything to protect and help you girls." He then looked out in the night sky, smiling as he looked back to Rarity, who smiled back at her as she leaned into him.
"Anything dear?" Rarity asked, which Spyro leaned into her.
"Anything." Spyro replied.
They both then kissed one another, sharing a long passionate kiss as they both fell onto the bed, Rarity using her magic to close the curtain to their room, shutting out the moon light and making sure no one else looked into their room while they were together.
