Chapter 6: The Hunt I: Balrog vs Dragon

Kagura and Erza prepared to face off as the crowd's attention was now suddenly glued to their fight. It was one of the more anticipated ones.

That said, the two female wizards still kept an eye on the rest of the battlefield. The other guilds were scrambling for points just to catch up, but it wasn't looking too good for them. As it stood, Dragon's Dawn was still firmly in the lead with 54 points. They were followed by Sabertooth with 38, Fairy Tail with 30, Mermaid Heel with 25, Lamia Scale who also had 25 points, Quatro Puppy with 22, and Finally Blue Pegasus with 18 points.

The scoreboard had updated since they last looked with Lamia Scale now securing a victory here's how the scoreboard looked now:

Dragon's Dawn- 54 points

Sabertooth- 38 points

Lamia Scale- 35 points

Fairy Tail- 30 points

Mermaid Heel- 25 points

Quatro Puppy- 22 points

Blue Pegasus- 18 points

Just as Erza and Kagura launched at each other to continue their fight, another large force interrupted them. A large cyclone of Water Crashed down between them. And out of the cyclone walked none other than Honoo Tokyoheim. The Dark skinned girl smiled and apologized for the interruption.

"I do apologize for the interruption, Kagura, Erza. Shall we make an even three way fight?," Honoo asked with a smile.

Erza and Kagura didn't see any problems with that, so they nodded and obliged her request. Besides, they wanted to see how they measured up to a wizard of Dragon's Dawn anyways..

Meanwhile, Rogue was searching for Gajeel. It made sense since he looked up to Gajeel, though he'd never admit it out loud. Who he ran into though, was not who he was expecting. The wizard he came across was none other than Mist Dragonblade, the younger sister of the wizard who defeated Minerva.

Rogue seemed surprised at first, so he naturally had his guard up. The Fusia haired girl seemed to recognize him, but she was still cautious. Rogue eyed her warily as she walked around him, almost like she was inspecting him.

"Huh... So you're Rogue eh?," She asked curious.

Rogue simply nodded, not bothering to say much. He wasn't entirely sure of what this girl would do so he had to be ready just in case.

"hmm... You definitely aren't what I was expecting at all.," She said with curious look on her face. "Well Rogue, I'm Mist Dragonblade. Nice to meet you.," She said.

Rogue was thrown completely for a loop with this girl, he didn't get it. His thoughts were then interrupted though and it felt like something had taken control of his body. Sinister laughter echoed from his back, this wasn't Rogue anymore. This was someone else.

Mist scowled as she seemed to notice this. She wasn't sure how, but somehow she knew that this wasn't Rogue.

"I don't know who you are.. But you'd better leave Rogue alone!," She challenged.

The shadow just laughed. "And who are you to stop me, little girl?"

Mist then let her magic power flow so the possessed Rogue could feel it.

"I am Mist Dragonblade! Whoever you are, you don't belong here!," Mist angrily shouted.

The shadow merely chuckled that is until it felt the girl's power.. It wasn't overwhelming, but it wasn't small either. This girl had some pretty massive magical power herself. The possessed Rogue's eyes widened as he seemed to recognize her power.

"Wait a second, are you-?", He asked but was interrupted by Mist rocketing towards him and shocking him in the face with a mean right hook.

"You little brat!," Possessed Rogue shouted.

He lashed out with Rogue's shadow Dragon Slash, which Mist guarded against. She smirked and started laughing.

"Really? You call that an attack? That's just sad. Here, let me show you what a real attack looks like!," Mist Taunted him.

She summoned her power until what looked like a Giant Horned beast appeared behind her.

"Crimson Balrog..!!! ", she started as she waved her arms in a fashion similar to a certain saint she trained with.

Rogue's eyes widened even further as he felt the enormous power gathering behind the girl he was fighting.

" DESTRUCTIVE HAMMER!!!," she shouted as she slammed her fast into Rogue's gut the projection of a flaming horned beast punching him too followed her move.

A large gust of wind and power was expelled from his back and sent him flying against the stone cobble. The girl walked towards him with an angry look on her face. She kicked him again, sending him tumbling on the floor again. He struggled to get to his feet, Rogue was already so bruised and battered already.

"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?! She only hit me twice! And yet... Those two attacks caused this much pain. How could only two hits cause this much damage?!," the shadow said through Rogue.

"You're a bit behind the times, Imposter. Dragon Slayers aren't as powerful as some others. There are some warriors who are far stronger than Dragon Slayers. I myself happen to be one such individual. A Balrog Slayer.," Mist said with disdain in her voice.

Rogue's eyes widen again at this before he asked something else.

"So does that mean your entire guild is-?, He started to ask but was interrupted by Mist.

"Before you finish asking that question, yes. All of us are one type of slayer or another.. Mostly Balrog Slayers and the like, but we have some Devil Hunters in our guild as well.," Mist said finishing Rogue's thought.

His eyes became wide as dinner plates at this revelation. Sabertooth literally stood no chance of winning against such a guild, they were far too strong. The shadow then made one last attempt to best Mist, but the Balrog Slayer was simply too skilled. She cupped her hands in front of her as what looked like stars gathered behind her.

"Be gone, vile spirit!"

"NO!"

" CRIMSON.."

"What are you doi- oh no... " , The shadow paled as it saw what Mist was doing.

"BALROG...", she continued shouting.

Rogue then knew what was coming. This was going to hurt.. A lot.

"BURNING EXCLAMATION!!!", she shouted as a bright red beam smashed into him.

Rogue let put cries of agony as the shadow escaped from him at the last minute. He was sent flying into a wall as his clothes were in tatters thanks to Mist's attack.. Laying face down on the ground, Mist had already been awarded points for the defeat of Rogue. She rushed over to him to make sure he was okay.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?! Talk to me Rogue. I hope I didn't hurt you too badly.," She said in a little bit of a panic.

Rogue waved her worries off, he assured her that he was fine. He was banged up, but fine nonetheless. This brought Mist a sense of relief, she thought that she really hurt him and was worried.

"Whew good, I thought you really were truly hurt. Thank Elohim for that.," Mist said relieved.

Her response intrigued him, but he'd ask about this Elohim later. He had to admit it, this girl had completely and utterly defeated him. For some reason this caused him to smile back at her. Mist was a little caught off guard by this, but she didn't mind it for some reason.

"Huh, so you can smile then?," She said half sarcastically.

Rogue was quiet, but that wasn't necessarily bad. She could tell, he wasn't a bad person.. a little misguided maybe, but not bad at heart. She decided to ask him something, now that their battle had concluded.

"Can I ask you something, Rogue?," She asked.

Rogue nodded, this indicated for her to go ahead with her question. He was rather curious to see what this girl would ask him. What could she possibly have to ask him though? Her guild and his guild weren't exactly on the best of terms right now. But just because their respective guilds were enemies at the moment, it didn't mean that they had to be enemies. At least, this was the thought running through Mist's mind right now.

"Yes, what is it you want?," Rogue asked.

Even though he admitted to defeat, he was still a bit sore about it. One could hardly blame him though, getting soundly beaten by a girl younger than you was humiliating to say the least.

"I know your guild and my guild aren't getting along right now, but I don't get the feeling that you and Sting are bad people. So.. I.. uh.. I w-was wondering would you want to become friends?," Mist asked clearly a little nervous and self conscious.

Rogue was a little surprised at this. This girl wanted to be friends and wanted to get to know someone who was her enemy just a few minutes ago? He chuckled lightly at the thought.

"Mist, was it?," Rogue asked.

Mist nodded before responding.

"Yeah?," she questioned not sure where this was going.

"You really are an odd girl, you know that?," Rogue said lightly chuckling.

Mist just grinned at this and laughed nervously.

"Heh heh yeah I kinda get that a lot.," she grinned.

Rogue couldn't help but to smile, there was... just something about this girl that made him calm. He didn't know why that was, but he wanted to find out. Perhaps by being this girl's friend and getting to know her better, he'd understand why he felt so calm around her. It was worth a shot anyways.

Rogue tried getting up, but was quickly reminded of his lingering injuries. This caused him to wince in pain and he almost fell to a knee if not for Mist catching him.

" Careful Rogue, you're still injured you know.," Mist chided him.

Rogue nodded and decided that it was best if he took it easy for awhile, at least until his injuries healed up that is.

"Not to worry Rogue, I know someone who's especially skilled at the healing arts. I'll take you to her.," Mist told him.

Rogue weakly smiled at her, a sign of his fatigue from the injuries.

"T... Thanks M.. Mist. I'd appreciate that.," Rogue managed to say.

Mist helped Rogue steady himself and both of them made their way towards Mist's friend.

With Defeat of Rogue, Dragon's Dawn gained yet another 10 points to add to their total. Here was how the current standings read at the moment:

Dragon's Dawn: 64 pointsFairy Tail: 40 pointsSabertooth: 38 pointsLamia Scale: 35 pointsMermaid Heel: 25 pointsQuatro Puppy: 22 pointsBlue Pegasus: 18 pointsFairy Tail had gained 10 points for Juvia defeating one of the other wizards from Quatro Cerebus or Quatro Puppy. This in effect eliminated them from the Games. Blue Pegasus and Mermaid Heel were also on the ropes as they each only had one wizard left in the games who hadn't been defeated yet. Sabertooth wasn't in much better shape though, they had 3 wizards left two of which were on the verge of being defeated.

The wizards Sabertooth had who were close to being defeated Rufus, (who was in the midst of fighting Gray) and Orga who had just arrived in the same area as Laxus, Jura, and now Kazuma of Dragon's Dawn. Kazuma had made a rather explosive entrance to that match by coming in between the 3 battling wizards.

Back with Erza, the battle between her, Kagura, and Honoo was heating up. Erza and Kagura exchanging sword swipes, while they avoided Honoo's Water attacks.

Kagura used her sword skills along with her Gravity Magic to keep Honoo at bay...that was only temporarily however. She did catch the unsuspecting wizard off guard when she used nearly the full force of her Gravity Magic. It held her in place for a little while, that is until Erza and Kagura came closer to her.

A bright blue aura surrounded her as Honoo focused her magic. Kagura and Erza's eyes widened when they felt the enormous magical power emanating from from the wizard who was supposedly trapped. But that couldn't be right, no one could move during one of her spells.

"I have to hand it to you, Kagura. You're Gravity Magic really is quite something. However... I'm afraid it won't be enough to keep me down.," Honoo said.

Kagura and Erza continued their fight close by with both of them eyeing what it was Honoo would do. That's when they felt it, an enormous amount of power being gathered into a single point.

" SEA GOD..."

Erza's eyes widened in shock. This girl was.. a God Slayer? She knew from Fairy Tail's battle on Tenrou Island (against Grimoire Heart) just some of what a God Slayer was capable of. And the little she remembered of their potential, it was frightening.

"BATTERING RAIN: ECHO FIST!!!"

The next thing she knew, Honoo had broken free of the gravity magic and had launched a powerful attack spell at the same time. A huge surge of water poured forth and then split into hundreds of icicle like shards before being launched forward. Hundreds of small shockwaves the size of fists then followed and crashed into both Erza and Kagura. While they were able to defend against some, others got through and quickly overpowered their defenses.

At the end of the barrage, only Erza was still able to stand on both of her feet. But even Erza did so with considerable effort, it felt like her entire body was on fire. Honoo noticed Erza noticeably grimacing as she stood, no doubt her attack must have felt like getting hit by several sledge hammers. Kagura was on a knee and using her katana in an effort to stand again.

"I told you that wouldn't keep me down, Mikazuchi. Looks like you're still up, Scarlet. You certainly are something else, Titannia Erza, Queen of the Fairies.", Honoo remarked.

Noticing that Erza was still Grimacing and fighting through the pain, Honoo decided to speak up. She could see that Erza and Kagura still had business with each other, so she thought that she'd offer a solution to this.

"I can see you still have some unfinished business with Kagura here so I'll let you two have at it.," Honoo suggested.

Erza was suspicious of this and decided to question the girl. She had to have some kind of aim for doing this.

"And what would you get in return for allowing us to continue?," Erza asked cautious.

Honoo smirked and answered her question immediately. She could tell Erza was not having any nonsense or beating around the bush.

"Well, that depends on you Erza. Guess I should say it will depend on what you do.," Honoo replied.

Erza eyed the female God Slayer warily as she went to continue her battle with Kagura. Neither could last much longer, so they had to end it and quickly before both if them collapsed from injuries.

"E..Erza Scarlet.. I suggest we finish this before we both collapse.," Kagura said through gritted teeth.

The redhead could tell her opponent was fighting the pain and was looking to it. Out if respect for Kagura, Erza prepared to end this match as quickly as she could. The two charged headlong towards each other, their magic energy blazing around them. There was definitely something on Kagura's mind as they fought, Erza could tell.

"Erza Scarlett... You're close to Jellal, right?!," Kagura asked.

Erza tentatively nodded.

"How can you be so close to the one who killed simon?!," she screamed as their fight intensified.

Forgive me if this is not how to do this, but I can't exactly remember how it played out in the games it's been awhile lol so cut me some slack plz _

"I take it you knew Simon?," Erza asked a bit surprised at her anger, but also confused.

Kagura scowled as she intensified her attacks as if in a rage. How could someone like Erza who spent time growing up with Simon not know?

"Knew him?! I more than knew Simon! He was the most important person in the world to me and that man... Jellal killed him! Simon was the only Family I had! That's why I swear Jellal will pay for making Simon suffer!," Kagura screamed.

Erza's eyes then widened in realization of what Kagura just said. She just hoped she wasn't reading into this too much, but it sounded like Kagura was saying she was related to Simon in someway.

"Wait.. you said Family? Do you mean that you're related to Simon?," Erza asked cautiously.

Kagura nodded and continued.

"Yes, Erza. I'm his younger sister.", she said.

Erza's face became pale and her eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe what she just heard.

"Y-you're his sister?! .. . I see.. Then I must apologize then.," Erza said.

Tears streamed down her face as she explained what happened with Simon during his final moments. She wasn't sure how Kagura would react, but she had a feeling that it wouldn't be pretty if the magical energy she felt building from Kagura was any indication.

" Jellal may have struck the final blow, but I was the one who killed Simon. Or.. rather m-my weakness killed him. I was too weak to stop Jellal and that's what killed your brother.. I'm sorry.. Kagura..," Erza said sorrowful.

Kagura went wide eyed at this with tears spilling out of her eyes. The grief then turn into rage as she unsheathed her archenemy sword that was meant for Jellal and used it on Erza. Screaming as she unsheathed it, the excess magical power spilling forth from it, shook the ground and it appeared a large gash had been cut into the earth from the impact.

Something went wrong though, Kagura had forgotten about the injuries she suffered as a result of Honoo's attack. She felt dizzy and disoriented while fighting through the pain. Because her injuries were much more severe than Erza's were she felt herself fading from consciousness due to those injuries, but she had to avenge her brother. Erza took pity on Kagura and swiftly ended it with one stroke, hitting her in the gut with the hilt of her katana.

Kagura felt herself buckle and then collapse, Erza had beaten her. Though she failed to avenge her brother, she was satisfied.. for now. She still had unfinished business with Erza, but they'd hash that out at a later time.

Clapping was heard as Erza had to use her sword to steady herself. Looking over, she saw that it was Honoo who had watched the entire fight. The God Slayer walked over towards her, to which Erza responded by swinging her sword so it stopped right in front of her.

"Listen Scarlet, I understand that you're upset.. really I do.," Honoo replied.

Erza scowled at her, obviously angry with the God Slayer.

"If you understand, then why did you do that?!," Erza raged.

Honoo calmly answered her question so as to temporarily diffuse Erza's temper. While it was warranted, it was too soon. The two of them weren't supposed to fight yet as per the agreement between their guilds.

"You looked you needed to take care of some unfinished business with Kagura, so I figured I should let you instead of getting in the way. But, it's too soon for us to clash yet Erza Scarlet.," Honoo explained.

This seemed to help as Erza was now calmer and more like her normal self, she was still angry with Honoo but that could be settled later.

"Yes, you are right about that..," Erza reluctantly admitted.

Honoo could tell she was apprehensive about this agreement, so she proposed a friendly wager to help keep her mind off of this little issue for now.

"Tell you what, why don't we make a wager? A.. friendly bet, competition of sorts?," Honoo asked.

Erza raised an eyebrow. She was still a bit suspicious of Honoo, what was she up to this time? She decided that it was best to play along and find out.

"You have my attention, I'm listening.," Erza replied. "What sort of wager were you implying this will be?," Erza questioned.

Honoo smiled while gesturing with her hands to emphasize her point as she talked.

"A contest to settle this dispute between you and me. Why don't we make it a race to see who eliminates Sabertooth first? And whoever wins will get to choose whichever wizard they want to face when our two guilds battle it out for the top guild of this year's games.," Honoo suggested.

Erza thought about this for a moment and then smiled while closing her eyes. This could work, plus it would give her time to think about whay she would say to Kagura when they settled things later.

"Very well then, I accept your challenge.," Erza said.

Honoo smiled at her, she was glad that this would at least take a load off of Erza's mind for a bit. The two wizards then shook hands to seal the agreement.

"Let's call this one a draw until we can properly settle things then, yeah?," Honoo asked.

Erza nodded and it seemed the commentaters understood this arrangement. They would certainly settle this, but later.

current score of the Grand Magic Games:

Dragon's Dawn: 67 points

Fairy Tail: 45 points

Sabertooth: 38 points

Lamia Scale: 35 points

To be continued in Chapter 9: Fall of the Tigers II: Sabertooth Eliminated?

Hey all hope you enjoyed this chapter I know I said the saint Seiya cast will appear soon, trust me, they will. I just wasn't able to get to them this chapter. Instead of having each pairing, other than Koga x Wendy instantly attracted to each other I figured I should let things play out a bit more.. just so the pairings make sense and are more developed after interacting for a little while.

Hope I made the interaction between Erza and Honoo interesting enough, I figured that she needed at least one rival since Mira Jane doesn't really take that to heart these days... sigh. Well anyways, I'll do my best to fit the saint Seiya cast into the next chapter. And be on the lookout cuz there will be an interesting twist concerning the God Slayers and their power. Just thought I'd put my own little spin on it. Take it away, guys!

Koga- Right. Next time on Fairies and Dragons: Allies of the West ..

Wendy- The games are beginning to reach their climax now. Lamia Scale is on the ropes and.. it looks like a race between Fairy Tail and Dragon's Dawn to eliminate Sabertooth?

Koga- other guilds are caught in the middle as the countdown to the showdown between Fairy Tail and Dragon's Dawn has begun!

Wendy- Even Koga gets in on the action, I'll be rooting for you Koga! But also I'll cheer on my own Guildmates!

Koga- Next time: Chapter 8: The Hunt II: Sabertooth Eliminated?

Wendy- G-good luck everyone! And we'll see you next time!
