Chapter 9: The Hunt II: Fall of the Tigers part II; Sabertooth Eliminated?

In the stands, there sat a group watching the games. This group wasn't well known in fiore, but they were quite well known in the country that bordered Fiore Kingdom. It was a small guild in comparison to Fiore's magical guilds, however they more than made up for that in the power and strength of their members. They were in fact just one of several unique guilds from western Fiore that were watching the Grand Magic Games. Who was this mysterious guild you ask? This small, but powerful Guild was known as Athena's Sanctuary.

All of its members used something called Cosmos or as Fiore wizards called it, "Cosmic", "Constellation", or "Star" Magic. It was quite abit stronger than most normal, everyday magic. The users often referred to themselves as Saints or Zodiac Knights. That was another name their magic could be called, Zodiac magic. Either incidentally or intentionally, the core members of Athena's Sanctuary all bore signs of zodiac spirits as manifestations of their magic.

One such teen was a little frustrated that Dragon's Dawn was taking so long to wrap up the games. It was obvious to him that the aforementioned guild was much stronger than any of the other guilds here, so why didn't they just end it already?

"That wouldn't exactly be respectful to the other guilds, who've fought hard to make it here. You should know that as well as anyone, Koga.," a Blonde haired female saint said.

This was the Aquila Saint, Yuna. She and the redhead teenaged boy next to her had been through alot together. She'd long looked up to Koga and viewed him as more than just her friend, but at the same time, she wouldn't let something silly like a one sided admiration get in the way of her being a saint of athena. The crimson haired teen next to her was Saint of Pegasus, Koga.

Koga and Yuna had been through alot together and had bonded quite closely as a result of putting their lives on the line many times already. Beside him were the following personnel: The Dragon Saint, Ryuho, The Lionet Saint.. Soma, The Saint of Orion.. Eden, and The Hornet/Saint of Scorpio... Sonia (in this reality, Sonia dosen't meet her death when donning the the Gold cloth of Scorpio. She's able to weild it's power, but only momentarily before it knocks her into a momentary coma ). Then of course there were the higher ranked members of the guild... the Gold Saints. The current Gold saints were Sagittarius Seiya, Virgo Fudo, Libra Shiryu, Aries Kiki, Taurus Harbinger, and Gemini Integra. 6 of the original 12 gold saints of Athena had survived the battle against the God of War, Mars, as well as the subsequent battle against the Goddess Pallas and the God of Time Saturn.

By this time, Koga and his friends had been granted the rank of Silver Saint due to their heroic deeds and the growth of their cosmos. They had reached a level where no other saint before them had reached. That level was Omega, the most powerful form of cosmos. As they looked on, Koga and the other silver saints couldn't help but to smile. Several members from Dragon's Dawn had trained with them in the past in order to become as strong and powerful as they were currently. At one point, the entire guild had trained with Athena and her Saints. As it stood, here's how the current standings of the Grand Magic Games lined up:

Dragon's Dawn: 67 points

Fairy Tail: 45 points

Sabertooth: 38 points

Lamia Scale: 35 points

It wasn't showing the other 4 guilds due to them being eliminated from the games. Mermaid Heel would finish in 5th with 25 points, Quatro Puppy finished 6th with 22 points, and Blue Pegasus would finish last with 18 points. Of course Sabertooth wasn't far from being eliminated themselves as Rufus was now on the brink of being defeated himself looking at his fight. Currently, Sabertooth had 3 wizards left on the field. Those 3 wizards were of course Rufus, Orga Nanogear, and Sting Eucliffe.

In another part of the makeshift arena that the GMG staff put together, there stood Laxus Dreyar of Fairy Tail, Orga Nanogear of Sabertooth, and Jura Neekis of Lamia Scale. 3 highly capable wizards in their own right. As they were about to Duke it out between the three of them, an orb of black flames came crashing in between them. All 3 were confused, especially Laxus because he'd seen and felt flames of this kind before... but where did he? "!" That's when Laxus remembered, the only other place he'd seen flames like this was back when they fought Grimoire Heart on Tenroujima (Tenrou Island). There was a God Slayer that Natsu fought and defeated. Did that mean, whoever was in this orb was one too?

As if to answer the lightning user's question, the orb dissipated and in its place stood Kazuma Ayakashi from Dragon's Dawn. The crimson eyed teen smirked before speaking up.

"I'd like to join in if you all don't mind?," The black haired teen said.

They all were confused at first, but really didn't mind it. Laxus however, was wary of Kazuma. He didn't say anything, but he could tell... This was not someone to take lightly. That power of Kazuma's was still putting Laxus on edge, he was sweating after feeling Kazuma's magic power. He felt sure he could beat him before, now though.. he wasn't so sure. Hopefully, he wouldn't do much aside from watching the 3 of them fight.. at least he hoped that would be the case.

Meanwhile with Gray, the ice wizard had been squaring off with Rufus Lore, the memory make wizard of Sabertooth. He'd been unsuccessful in breaking the Sabertooth wizard's defense so far, while getting thrashed in the meantime.

"You're not half bad, Rufus.," Gray said panting.

Rufus just smirked while gloating about himself, something that rather annoyed Gray.

"Okay, I take it back. You're annoying.," Gray said with a vein almost popping on his head.

The ice wizard then got into his signature stance for casting a spell, something rufus recognized. This made the sabertooth wizard smirk as he activated his memory magic. Gray cast his spell, but it was quickly taken out by the spell Rufus cast.

"Ice make.. impact!," Gray yelled.

"That won't do you much good. Memory Make ... Black iced thunder!," Rufus said casting his spell.

Shards of ice and dark colored lightning assaulted Gray causing him to have to dodge. While he dodged the ice, the thunder was a different story. He was zapped several times by the thunder from Rufus's spell before the remaining ice would strike him.

"Memorize." Rufus said.

Gray got ready to attack, but before he could Rufus cast his spell.

"Your Ice magic.. and Orga's Black lightning... I can use Weapons and different magics as a base for my own magic. Frozen Sword of Black lightning.," Rufus said.

Spikes of ice and lightning assaulted Gray, luckily he was able to come out of it relatively unscathed. However the next attack, gray wasn't so fortunate to come out if unharmed. This was after Rufus was seen reading several books that contained different types of ancient magic. This was something that ticked off Gray.

"memorize..," Rufus said.

What came next surprised gray as he never thought that memory molding magic could be so versatile.

Rufus then cast a spell that mixed ice with his memory maker magic to create soulless soldiers of ice that all attacked gray. Gray was tossed around by them after dodging a few of them.

"Fang of shining wind!," Rufus said.

Several twisters were summoned around him and he then sent them towards Gray. The ice wizard countered with his signature defense spell.

"Ice make... Shield!," Gray shouted.

Rufus then smirked before he spoke up again. Putting two fingers to his head like he did when activating his magic, he spoke up again.

"forget.," He said.

Gray's ice shield then suddenly shattered as he was then caught up in one of the summoned twisters and then thrown to the ground. He struggled to get up as he saw Rufus reading more books before engaging him again.

"Hey, this is a library. You're supposed to put the books back after reading them.," Gray said.

Rufus smirked again. Gray hated that smug look on his face, it was as if he thought of him as nothing more than a bug or a minor annoyance. He was underestimating him! Not just him, but all fairy tail wizards! That was not acceptable at all.

Rufus then made another spell that combined Gray's ice with ancient light magic. The result was dozens of Ocr made golems or soldiers that attacked Gray. While he could dodge a few hits, he was outnumbered and quickly became overwhelmed by them and was knocked back, again. But just like before, Gray got up again.

"memorize.. Flashing sword of lightning!," Rufus said.

As he casted the spell, what looked like a spirit with an electric sword then slashed at gray and knocked him down again. Rufus however, didn't give him time to recover this time. He immediately casted another spell to knock him back.

"Colorful slash of Flames.," Rufus shouted.

A pillar of Red flames laced with lightning then crashed into gray sending him back in a heap before he fell onto the floor. Rufus then gloated more before casting a light spell that was supposed to crush Gray.

"Give up, already. If you don't, you'll be crushed by the light.," Rufus said.

Gray grit his teeth and stood, albeit with some difficulty. He then stood up to Rufus.

"Give up? Nah, as if I'd ever do that!," Gray shouted back.

When he stood, he took off his shirt, something the fairy tail guild and the announcers noticed.

" He... Took it off! Gray took it off!," Chapati screamed.

This seemed to excite the fans as they knew Gray was now getting serious and would fight for real this time.

"That means he's finally getting serious.," Elfman said.

"So you took your shirt off, still won't change the outcome.," Rufus said.

Gray then got into his Ice make stance and brought his hands down to create ice on the floor. He'd begun his counter attack.

"And Gray has begun his counter attack!," chapati announced.

Briefly Juvia, who was heading elsewhere saw Gray with his shirt off and became embarrassed. Covering her face with her hands.

"Ah! Gray sama!," She said with a red face and hearts coming off her blushing face.

Gray then got into another stance, preparing to cast another spell.

"I told you, that won't work.," Rufus said.

Gray just smirked as he casted the spell, and it was something rufus wasn't anticipating.

"Ice make... unlimited!," Gray shouted.

Rufus's eyes widened, his magic couldn't keep up with gray ice molding magic.

"My memory can't keep up. How or when did his ice magic become so fast?!," Rufus asked himself surprised.

As Gray twirled his hands preparing to strike, he caught a glimpse of Rufus's shocked face. That was what he was wanting to see on the arrogant wizard's face. He then attacked and casted the spell.

"Ice make... Dance of Chaos!," Gray shouted.

The large ice spell he casted sped towards Rufus and enveloped him in ice. He was frozen.

"Since I received the Fairy Tail emblem, I've never lost to the same guy twice.," Gray said.

The two began to dialogue about their guild's vastly different ideologies before resuming their fight.

"This is but Ice. I remember flames that can melt this ice. Memory make... Karma of the Burning Earth.," Rufus said as he casted a fire spell to melt the ice.

He thought he might've defeated Gray with that last spell, since gray was so close to it. He was surprised when gray came rushing out of the flames and right up to him.

"Yeah? Well, I remember flames that are much hotter than that.," Gray said before casting one final spell to end the match.

"Ice make Bringer!!!," Gray shouted now having a pair of Ice made swords.

Rufus was enveloped in ice again before it shattered and he fell to the floor defeated. As he fell, Gray snagged Rufus's feathered hat and put it on as a sign of his triumph over Rufus.

The crowd roared in approval of this outcome, Sabertooth was now down to only 2 wizards left.

"Gray has defeated Rufus! Victory goes to fairy Tail!," Chapati announced.

Fairy Tail of course roared in support of gray's victory. With Rufus's defeat, here's how the current standings in the Grand Magic Games Stood:

Dragon's Dawn- 67 Points

Fairy Tail- 55 Points

Sabertooth- 38 points

Lamia Scale- 35 Points

Back at the center of the arena contructed town, the four wizards took note of the battle that'd just concluded.

Kazuma smirked and addressed Orga, but not in a condemning way.

"Well Orga, looks like your teammate was defeated by Fairy Tail. There are only 2 of you tigers left and i have to wonder... What will you do now?," Kazuma said.

Orga had to pause, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was no way their guild could win now unless he and sting pulled off something crazy. They could probably get close to Dragon's Dawn point wise by defeating the wizards here. Onky problem was all of these wizards, but especially Kazuma looked really strong. Jura would be tough, but Kazuma.. he could tell based on his magic, he would be a handful.

Still, he wouldn't back down. Not now when his guild needed him. He stood his ground and was the first one to challenge Jura.

If he could defeat Jura, maybe he stood a chance. He prepared to cast his spell but before he could.. Jura had sped up and kocked him to the ground with a single chop to the head! Orga's eyes went white in the crater he was now in and no sign of stirring from the Sabertooth wizard. He was out cold!

"And Jura has just defeated Orga of Sabertooth! Which means Sabertooth now only has one wizard remaining!," Chapati announced.

Everyone other than Dragon's Dawn were shocked, to think Orga could defeated that quickly was.. bizarre. The scoreboard then updated again.

Dragon's Dawn- 67 Points

Fairy Tail- 55 points

Lamia Scale- 45 points

Sabertooth- 38 points

Jura then turned to Laxus, who steeled himself. Before Laxus could do anything, he received the same treatment as Orga. It looked like Jura would win again, except Laxus got back up and struck a blow to Jura's chin knocking him back. Jura was a bit surprised, but quickly shook it off. He wasn't expecting Laxus to get up from that.

"You may be a wizard saint, but.. Don't think you can look down on others.," Laxus said.

Jura smiled genuinely, this just became very interesting for him suddenly. Now he had to see what Laxus could do. He wasn't one of Fairy Tail's S class wizards for nothing, right? Kazuma became interested and decided to jump in. The wizard's paused, wondering what this balck hair and red eyed wizard was up to.

"Pardon me for intruding, but why don't we make this a bit more interesting? Laxus Dreyar.," Kazuma said.

Laxus looked at him and spoke up.

"Yeah?," He asked.

"Why don't we make a wager? We can see who will defeat Jura first, and whoever strikes the final blow gets full credit for his defeat.," Kazuma offered.

Laxus nodded and the two bumped fists. Jura agreed to those terms, this would be interesting. Laxus closed his eyes momentarily as he thought on what a certain Fire Dragon Slayer would say at a time like this.

"Natsu... what you say at a time like this?", Laxus asked himself.

His eyes then opened as he remembered a certain phrase the hyperactive slayer would say when up against a tough opponent. He clenched his fist as lightning emanted from it.

"I'm all Fired up..," Laxus thought.

It looks as if things are heating up at the GMG. With Sabertooth and Lamia Scale on the brink, which of the remaining 4 guilds will come out on top?

Hey guys, Novablade here. Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! If i didn't get the gray vs rufus fight exact i do apologize. Tried to make it as close as i could from what i can remember of it lol. I'm not the best at detailing fights as I've said before so forguve me if you find it lacking. Thinking next chapter for the first half i'll focus on sting and his opponent for the most part, then I'll switch to Laxus and Kazuma vs Jura. That fight will be just a little different as it won't be a true teamup if you read this chapter lol. Anyways enough from me, if you guys would?
