Negi was patrolling during the blackout only for Kaede to silently land behind and knock him out. She picked him up and took him to the forest where everyone was waiting. She threw him in front of Evangeline before going to join her friends.
Negi groaned as he woke up. He looked around and was surprised that he was in the forest.
"What happened" thought Negi?
"Welcome Negi Springfield," said Evangeline.
Negi spun around towards the voice and saw Evangeline sitting on a tree branch looking down at him.
"It is time we settle things once and for all," said Evangeline.
Negi's hand went into his cloak to grab one of the magical items he had only for all of them to float away from him and be crushed.
"Hey" shouted Negi.
"Those were mine" he cried.
"You are a Magi now, you don't need those toys anymore," said Evangeline.
"But I will be nice enough to allow you to summon your partner before we begin" she said.
Negi got a worried look on his face as he took a step back.
"Don't tell you don't know how to do something as basic as summoning your partner," said Evangeline.
"It's even better," said Harry.
Negi looked around for the voice but did not see anyone else around them.
"He messed up the pactio," said Harry.
Evangeline started laughing at that.
"Even with the rat's help, you still messed it up," laughed Evangeline.
"They should never have let you graduate" she said.
"I did graduate to be a Magi," shouted Negi.
"Then prove it," said Evangeline.
She sent multiple ice lances at Negi who blocked them with a wind shield. Evangeline landed on the ground and sent a wave of ice at Negi. Negi jumped onto his staff and took off flying away.
"Let the hunt begin" said Evangeline taking off after him.
She started shooting ice lances at Negi who started dodging them. But they soon stopped, causing Negi to stop and look around.
"Why did she stop" thought Negi?
Evangeline appeared below Negi, grabbed his staff, and threw him off before throwing it away. Negi fell into the forest below where he used his wind magic to slow himself down while Evangeline shot down after him.
In the power plant, the maintenance workers finished their work on the generators.
"All done" said a maintenance worker.
"Time to turn them back on" said another maintenance worker.
"We haven't been given the go ahead yet," said Chao.
"We don't take orders from you" growled a maintenance worker.
They went to turn the generators back on only to find out they could not. They all soon fell to the ground stunned as Chao put her blaster away.
"So predictable," said Chao.
Evangeline was hunting down Negi when a wind dragon came flying at her. She easily dodged it and launched her own ice dragon at the location it came from. That caused Negi to run away towards the bridge. Evangeline followed him and landed on the bridge. She saw Negi standing right before the edge of the academy grounds.
"All done running" asked Evangeline smirking?
Negi just stood there shaking.
"I wonder why you haven't left the grounds yet" asked Evangeline?
"Chachamaru" she called.
Chachamaru landed on the bridge next to the Evangeline.
"What do you require master" asked Chachamaru?
"Scan the area in front of us" ordered Evangeline.
"Yes master" said Chachamaru.
She scanned the area in front of them and a seal appeared and was destroyed.
"There was binding seal in front of us that has been taken care of" said Chachamaru.
"Good work," said Evangeline.
"That's not fair," shouted Negi.
"She is my partner," said Evangeline.
"I would have won," cried Negi.
"She would have broken it if we got caught in it," said Evangeline.
Negi quickly ran out of the academy grounds and collapsed on the ground. Evangeline approached the border and looked at Negi.
"Don't tell me that was your only plan," said Evangeline.
Negi got up but did not say anything.
"You are nothing like your father," said Evangeline.
"I am like him," shouted Negi.
"No, you are not" said Evangeline shaking her head.
"He had plans and backup plans for everything, which made fighting him really annoying" she said.
"Now it's time I ended this farce" she said.
"But you can't leave," said Negi.
Evangeline smirked as she disappeared. Negi looked around for her only for her to appear behind him knocking him out.
"You're wrong," said Evangeline.
She then felt something flying towards her and created a barrier. She heard something crash into it and saw the rat fall to the ground unconscious. She looked to where it came from and saw it was Asuna who threw it.
"What was that supposed to do" asked Evangeline?
Asuna ran towards Evangeline and went to kick her. But Evangeline dodged it in a burst of speed. Asuna looked around for Evangeline only to fall to the ground stunned.
"You are too late" said Evangeline putting her blaster pistol away.
Then her friends landed near her.
"That was boring," said Yue.
"I want my money back" said Haruna.
"I was promised an epic battle to end all battles and all I got was a beatdown" she said.
"Why did you drag it out" asked Harry?
"I thought he would be better than this," said Evangeline.
"I wanted to pull out what allowed him to graduate so early" she said.
"I guess their standards had fallen a lot" she said.
"You can turn the generators back on now," said Harry.
"Turning them back on now," said Chao.
"Have any problems" asked Harry.
"Yes" said Chao.
"They tried to turn them back on early, so I stunned them" she said.
"Head to the Dean's after you are done," said Harry.
The drone Harry had recorded the fight came floating down and landed in his head before Harry put it away. Then Harry and Evangeline headed to the Dean's office while everyone else dropped Negi and Asuna off at the infirmary before heading back to their rooms.
They both arrived at the Dean's office and saw Chao waiting there for them.
"Waiting long" asked Harry?
"Not really," said Chao.
All three of them went inside and sat down in front of the Dean's desk.
"How did it go" asked Konoemon?
"Pathetic" said Evangeline.
"You should just send him back" she said.
"What happened" asked Konoemon?
Harry took out the drone and played back the recording of the fight. Konoemon collapsed back into his chair with a sigh once the recording was done.
"They said that he was ready, that he only needed experience" said Konoemon.
"That is why I had him come here" he said.
"So that he could gain that in a controlled environment" he said.
"Hopefully this will give him the wake up call he needs and start taking this seriously" he said.
"I don't think he is old enough to do so," said Harry.
"Why did they allow him to graduate so early" he asked?
"He passed every test they gave him" said Konoemon.
"You are protecting him aren't you," said Evangeline.
"That is why you haven't sent him back after all the problems he caused" she said.
"Yes" said Konoemon nodding his head.
"I am worried that if I send him back, he will just leave on his own and get killed" he finished.
He then got up and walked around his desk.
"Where are they now" asked Konoemon?
"I had Konoka and Setsuna take them to the infirmary," said Harry.
"I will go see them" said Konoemon.
"I want nothing more to do with him," said Evangeline.
"I understand" said Konoemon as he left.
The next week everyone was heading to their classroom, and they heard other students excitedly talking about the upcoming class trip.
"There is a class trip coming up" asked Gabrielle?
"Yes" said Konoka nodding her head.
"We go on one every year" she said.
"I heard they went to Hawaii last year" said Haruna.
"I wonder where we are going this year" asked Nodoka?
They arrived at their classroom and went in before sitting down. Soon a happy Negi came into the classroom.
"We are going to Kyoto for our class trip" exclaimed Negi.
While most of the students cheered, both Konoka and Setsuna narrowed their eyes.
"Grandpa is behind this" thought Konoka.
"What is the dean thinking" thought Setsuna.
"Isn't that where you are from" asked Gabrielle?
"It is" said Konoka.
Once class was over, Konoka and her 'family' went to the Dean's office. They went inside, as Rose turned on her communicator, and saw the Dean was waiting for them.
"Why are we going to Kyoto" asked Setsuna?
"There is unrest brewing in Kyoto, and I want you to go there and deal with it" said Konoemon.
"Really" said Konoka surprised.
"Yes" said Konoemon nodding his head.
"You have grown very strong Konoka, and I know you can handle this" he said.
"Thank you" said Konoka smiling.
"What makes this one different than the other ones" asked Setsuna?
"They haven't revealed themselves or tried to drum up support" said Konoemon.
"We have no idea what their goals are" he added.
"You are using our class as bait to lure them out," said Rose.
"Yes" said Konoemon nodding his head.
"I trust that you and your friends will be able to protect your classmates" he said.
"I also plan to give Negi a task to deliver a phony letter to Eishun" he added.
"Do tell me how he does" he said.
"Fine" said Rose sighing.
"We won't let you down Grandpa" said Konoka determined.
