CHAPTER EIGHT
"Sweet Oz," Galinda said as her shirt got soaked by the twins splashing in the sink. "You're getting Mommy all wet, you goofballs," she said.
Jade and Julian were still too little to sit up on their own, but their baths fit in the kitchen sink, so that's where she usually gave them their baths. They were three months old now and Galinda would be returning to classes the next day, so she was nervous about sending them to daycare.
"Are you ready to get out? You'll turn into little baby prunes if you stay in there much longer," Galinda said, unfolding a towel. "Fiyero! Will you come get Julian out of the bath please?" she called out.
"I've been summoned?" Fiyero asked as he walked out of their room with a towel wrapped around his waist.
"Can you get Julian?" she asked, holding her towel against her and picking Jade up from her tub.
"Of course, Madame," he said, taking Julian out of the sink and wrapping him in a towel. "We have some good smelling babies," he said as he kissed the babies cheeks, which made them start fussing. "What did I do?"
"They don't like that prickly stubble, Daddy, it hurts their little faces," she said, running her finger over his chin.
"I would have had it taken care of, but someone needed a knight in shining armor," he said, playfully rubbing his whiskers against his wife's cheek.
Galinda giggled and kissed his lips lightly. "Well, I certainly don't mind it when your mouth takes those trips to the south, but their skin is too sensitive."
"Oh, you enjoy that do you?"
"I do indeed, it feels nice."
"Well then shaving tonight is out of the question. Consider it a welcome back gift for starting classes again tomorrow."
"Ugh, I don't even wanna think about class. School should have never been invented."
"If it wasn't then we wouldn't have met and we wouldn't have these adorable witchlings."
"Speaking of the witchlings, we need to get them dried off and dressed so they don't get cold. They're gonna want to eat in a few minutes."
"It would be rather unfortunate if they were to pee on us. Or worse. Like last time."
"That was rather unfortunate for you."
"I think they do it on purpose sometimes," Fiyero said as they both went to the nursery.
"I don't doubt it. They know more than we think they do."
"Babies are fascinating. Especially ours."
"They're a little less fascinating when they have blow outs," Galinda said, laying Jade down on a changing table and drying her off.
"Yeah, that's not so fun," he said, doing the same with Julian.
"I can't wait to see the little people they become."
"Me either. They're gonna be amazing. Just like their mommy."
"Oh, I'm amazing huh?"
"Beyond amazing," Fiyero said, kissing her lips. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
"Ew, what's on your shirt?" Pfannee asked as Galinda wiped her shirt off with a wipe.
"Spit up. Julian has an upset stomach," Galinda said.
"Gross. Babies are disgustickifying."
"You threw up all over me the first time we went to the Ozdust."
"That wasn't my fault."
"Just like it's not Julian's fault that his tummy is upset."
"Motherhood is weird on you," Shenshen said.
"It's perfect on me. You two are weird for being disgustickified by infants."
"Miss Upland, welcome back," Dr. Dillamond said.
"Thank you."
"How are the babies?"
"They're great, Sir."
"Good. Now stop talking."
Galinda scoffed as the Goat walked away, looking at Elphaba in disbelief. "He's the one that started the conversation."
"He's just in a bad mood," Elphaba said.
"He's always moodified. He needs to get laid," she said, earning a snicker. "Speaking of... have you used it yet?"
"Used what?"
"The vibrator."
Elphaba blushed but didn't answer. Instead, she busied herself with her book.
Galinda gasped in excitement. "You have! See, I told you it would be amazing. Orgasms are good for the soul."
"They're something."
"Was it good?"
"Galinda."
"Come on, I know you don't talk to Pansy about it."
"Posey."
"I don't care. Was it good or not?"
"Once I got the hang of it... yes."
Galinda squealed quickly. "Now all you need is the real thing. We need to find you a man. What about Bick?"
"It's Boq," Boq said from behind her.
"I don't care. Never mind about him, I wouldn't want him around anymore than he is now."
"You could be nicer to him," Elphaba said.
"Yeah," Boq said.
"Mind your own business," Galinda muttered.
"Miss Glinda, would you like to teach my class?" Dr. Dillamond asked.
"No, Sir."
"Then pipe down."
Galinda scoffed. "I wasn't the only one talking. I was telling Bick to mind his own business."
"Mr. Woodsman, would you like to teach my class?"
"No thank you, Sir," Boq said. "I'm not great with attention."
"Then stop trying to get Miss Glinda's and pay attention to me."
"Yes, Sir. Sorry, Sir."
"Leave the girl alone. She's married."
"Yes, Sir."
Galinda and Elphaba chuckled.
"Honestly Bick, I've been running away from you since 6th grade. Take a hint," Galinda said.
"Boq," Boq corrected.
"I don't care."
"Hi, witchlings!" Galinda said as a daycare teacher carried the twins over. "How was your first day?"
"Well, they were a little finnicky, but that's normal with first timers," the teacher said. "Julian has had a few runny diapers so he has a bit of a rash and Jade didn't seem to want her last bottle, so she's probably hungry by now. I tried to get her to eat a few times but she wasn't having it."
"Oh, my sweet girl," Galinda said, taking Jade as Elphaba took Julian. "You wanna eat?"
"Other than that, they're great. Julian spit up a few times this morning, but he's been fine since and he hasn't been running a fever. It's just the runny diapers and rash."
"Okay. Thank you, we'll see you tomorrow."
"Have a nice day."
The girls left the building and Galinda got Jade latched to her breast discreetly as they started walking towards the apartment.
"You have a sour tummy, Julian?" Elphaba asked, running her hand over his back."
"He spit up on me this morning," Galinda said. "He might just have a tummy thing going on."
"Do you think he's sick?"
"I dunno. If he's still spitting up and having runny diapers in the next few days I'll take him in for a checkup. I'm sorry your tummy's wonky, buddy," she said, running her finger over Julian's cheek as he laid his head down on Elphaba's shoulder.
"He'll feel better soon. Maybe he's just having a day."
"Are you having a day, bud? You wanna go home and take a nap? Maybe your tummy will feel better and you'll have a better day tomorrow."
"And if not, Aunt Elphie will teach tomorrow a lesson."
