AUTHOR'S NOTE: If you've watched foreign dubs of 1000 Ways to Die, you may know that death #133, "Broke-Back Cowboy", aired at this time. However that death was never given an English dub and so I am going to skip it.
The next file details "INCIDENT 0103132005". A welding machine is drawn on the file.
Ruby: "Our next incident is 0103132005. Says on the file that the victim was an adrenaline junkie."
The file shows a man with two jumper cables attached to metal piercings on his ears.
Shannon: "Hmm… pairing that with electricity? This is soooo going to work out in a non-lethal manner…"
Zoom in.
We open to what seems like a garage of sorts. The man from the file is wielding a lit fluorescent tube as if it were a lightsaber. Then another shot shows him headbanging to heavy metal music, and yet another shows him spraying a beer can over his head.
Date of Incident: 13 March, 2005
Location of Incident: House of Steel, Long Beach, California
Shannon: (Narrating) "As John Cook here saw it, life was one long obscene gesture."
John continues engaging in other strange behaviours, such as flipping off the camera, animalistic yelling and more headbanging.
Shannon: (Narrating) "He was more than happy to oblige. He was the ultimate adrenaline junkie, always looking for the next fix."
Now John is rolling across the floor and smashing his head with his palms.
Shannon: (Narrating) "From what I remember in my psychology classes, people with this kind of personality seems to require thrills, and take constant risk to move things forward, to expand their horizons."
John is still screaming.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Some people are addicted to adrenaline. They often partake in extreme sports like bungee jumping or skydiving."
The camera focuses on a motorbike and a series of metal sculptures. Joh is now hammering away at some metal sheets.
Shannon: (Narrating) "His customised bikes and edgy metal sculptures provided more than enough coin for John's needs."
We then see a woman stride into the garage, wearing a black dress and hiding a taser behind her back.
Shannon: (Narrating) "And what money didn't get him, his sweet and twisted Tess did."
Tess grabs John by the necklace he is wearing and spin himn around so he is facing her. She then produces the taser from behind her back.
Shannon: (Narrating) "She knew how to push his buttons."
Tess jabs the taser into John's chest, and he lets out a yell of pleasure as the adrenaline courses through him.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Quite often adrenaline junkies put themselves in harm's way for the next fix."
As Shannon says that line Tess continues shocking John. John then mouths something to Tess and she responds by taking two jumper cables out and clamping them onto John's metal ear piercings. She connects the other end of the cables to a welding machine.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Now John wanted more bang for his buck, and Tess obliged by connecting his metal piercings to a welding machine."
Tess then switches the machine on, and as a tidal wave of adrenaline washes over John his body twitches like a man in the electric chair.
Shannon: (Narrating) "But Tess would only take it so far."
Tess begins turning the voltage setting on the machine down, but John soon yanks her hand away and turns the machine to the highest setting. He continues shaking from the adrenaline, but after a few seconds he suddenly stops shaking and slumps down into the chair unmoving.
Shannon: (Narrating) "The brain, spinal cord, nervous system and heart all use electricity to function, and John threw his own electrical rhythm off whack. Here's one of my CGIs to explain."
Shannon shows us the CGIU she has prepared, showing John's heart and other internal organs. When the electric current surges through his heart, the beating muscle is stopped dead cold.
Shannon: (Narrating) "When 130 amps of raw current surged through John's body, his heart was the first organ to short out, putting him into cardiac arrest."
Return to John's body in the chair.
Shannon: (Narrating) "To everyone who knew John Cook, his death came as no shock.
WAY TO DIE #504
WEL-DEAD
Return to the Sharuby couple in their office.
Ruby: "This is why you pursue adrenaline in moderation - getting reckless might cause you to slam into the ground at terminal velocity when your parachute fails, or be fried like John here."
Shannon: "Indeed. Next file please - your turn to narrate."
Ruby nods, closing the file and marking it before wheeling over to get the next one.
