As Caroline and Bonnie reached the restaurant they were greeted by Rebekah and Hope, while Klaus was running late.
"Hello again, Caroline, Hii Bonnie. How are you? Klaus is a bit late. He will join us soon" said Rebekah.
"Hii Rebekah. I am good. How are you? So is this the baby Hope? She is really cute" replied Bonnie.
They continued their conversation, and after fifteen minutes, Klaus joined them. Surprisingly, both Klaus and Bonnie remained civil towards each other. After dinner Klaus asked Caroline for a walk, and both of them strolled out the place for some fresh air.
"So you never told me how life is treating you" asked Klaus.
"Same old, same old. New problems in Mystic Falls" answered Caroline.
"I know you are hiding something from me, love. You know that you can tell me anything"
"There is nothing like that Klaus"
"Okay why don't you come to my place tomorrow and have a nice dinner just us and share whatever is going on in that beautiful head of yours?"
"Let me think. I think we should head back. It's getting late and we should return to our hotel."
"Okay love. Inform me about the next day's plan"
After saying good night, all of them returned to their respective places.
As Caroline sat in her bed contemplating whether she should take this step, she knew that once she started down this path, there would be no turning back. The events of the wedding had made her realise that eternity wasn't guaranteed, anything could happen in the next moment. She didn't know if she'd be alive tomorrow, so it was better to live life to the fullest today. She decided that she would go tomorrow and take the first step towards her epic love.
Caroline : Tomorrow's plan is on. I will come to your place.
Klaus : Okay love, will be waiting for you.
"Bekah, tonight Caroline is coming over for dinner. Can you watch Hope for that time being?" Klaus asked her sister in the morning.
"Of course Nik. Go enjoy your date. I wanted to enjoy some quality time as well with my niece anyway, as both of you will be off tomorrow." said Rebekah.
"Okay then off I go to look at the arrangements for tonight."
Klaus then went to prepare for the evening, after which he was meeting another group of witches. The previous day, he had met with a few witches, but they hadn't been able to find the counter-curse. As the curse was designed by a New Orleans witch, it could only be broken by them. After today's meeting yielded the same results, Klaus nonetheless found his mood uplifted by the prospect of his date with Caroline.
"Hello again, love. I must say, you look beautiful." said Klaus as he greeted Caroline upon her arrival at the Mikealson's property. "Klaus" replied Caroline with a subtle nod. "I must say, you do have a beautiful house."
"First, let's have dinner, and then I will give you a tour of the place," Klaus suggested.
They enjoyed their dinner together, and after the tour, they relaxed in the sitting room with a glass of wine, laced with blood.
"So when are you returning to New Orleans, Klaus?" asked Caroline.
"Well tomorrow we have to head back as it is a full moon and Hope needs to see her mother."
"Okay. I know something is bothering you. What is it? Is it Hayley?"
"Yes. I was looking for a way to break her curse, but I didn't find anything here. I just want Hope to be with her mother as soon as possible. A child needs both a father and mother."
"Who are you, and what have you done with Klaus?" Caroline teased with a small smile. "Don't worry, Klaus. Everything will work out soon."
"So, love what's been happening in your life" Klaus asked.
"Well, as you know, Elena was cursed into a magical coma. Before that, I lost my mother to Cancer, which led me to turn off my humanity switch," Caroline replied, sadness clouding her face.
"I am really sorry for your loss, love" Klaus said, moving to sit beside, taking her hands gently in his.
"You know at the wedding when I saw Damon and Ric crying for their loved ones I realised that life is too short to wait for perfect timing and live the human life which I wanted to live. Before coming here, Stefan told me he'd wait for me. But I realised that, in the end, I've always been everyone's second choice, whether it was Matt, Stefan, Tyler, or even Bonnie. You, however, have always put me first. So, Klaus Mikaelson, I just want to say… if you'll have me, I'm ready to be your last." said Caroline with tears in her eyes.
"Oh love you don't know how much your words mean to me. Of course Caroline. I am always ready for you," Klaus murmured, leaning towards her. Caroline met him halfway, and they were lost in each other's embrace, filled with passion. Holding each other. Loving each other.
In the morning, Caroline woke up to a warm body wrapped around her and looking at her lovingly with his beautiful blue eyes.
"Good morning, love, " Klaus murmured
"Good morning, Klaus. For how long have you been watching me?" Caroline asked with a smile.
"Not for very long. So, when are you joining me in New Orleans?"
"For now, I need to head back to Mystic falls. But soon I will come to New Orleans. Until then, have this to remember me," Caroline said, leaning to kiss him deeply, losing herself in him.
By the afternoon Klaus was on his way back to New Orleans with Hope, while Caroline returned to her hotel as she was also returning to Mystic Falls the next day.
