Walking through the door of Russaritos, Elena headed towards the bar when she noticed Camille behind the bar serving drinks. "Hey there, Cami," Elena said with a friendly smile as she sat down on one of the barstools.
"Hey, Elena. What brings you here tonight?" Cami asked as she poured Elena her usual drink, a glass of white wine.
"Thanks," Elena said as she picked up her glass and took a sip before answering Cami's question. "I'm meeting my date here, actually." She said, setting her glass down.
"You have a date? So I'm guessing Tyler finally signed the divorce papers," Cami said with a smirk.
"How did you know about that?" Elena asked, as she didn't remember mentioning anything about her divorce with Cami. Elena doesn't even talk to Cami much. They're not even that close.
"Marcel told me about it," Cami answered, shrugging her shoulders a little.
Elena scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, he finally signed them." Just a couple of days ago, Elena got a call from Damon, who wanted to let her know that he had gotten the divorce papers, and Tyler had signed them.
"Wow, so how does it feel to no longer be married?"
"I don't know. It feels kinda weird because Tyler and I have been married for so long, and I honestly never really thought we would end up divorced. But of course, I never thought he would actually break the deal and cheat on me either." She said bitterly. "But on the other hand, I'm glad to be finally free from him."
Cami nodded as she looked up and noticed a man walking towards the bar. She assumed he was Elena's date. "Hey, I think your date is here, and he's hot," Cami said with a smirk and wink before walking away to serve other patrons.
Elena turned around and noticed it was Damon who was walking towards her. "Damon, what are you doing here?" she asked, honestly not expecting to run into him tonight, especially since she was waiting for her date.
"I'm getting drinks for me and my date. Wow, Elena, you look beautiful tonight," Damon said as he looked down at her little black dress and the way her hair flowed down her shoulders in curls. His fingers were just itching to run through those soft curls. Seeing her in that black dress, which hugged her curves, was already making him feel aroused.
"Well, thank you, Damon," Elena said, taking a sip of her wine. Unaware that Damon was even checking her out, she could definitely feel herself getting flustered and her face turning red. But she just tried to ignore it.
Damon then clears his throat and stands by the bar, a few inches away from her. Damon starts to think how badly he would love to take that dress off of her, taste every inch of her body, and just ravish her. But he can't, since they're just friends and nothing more. "So, who's your date tonight?"
"Why? You're not jealous, are you?" Elena asked, raising her brow and couldn't help but smirk a little.
Damon snorted a laugh. "I don't get jealous, Elena. I'm just being a concerned friend. That's all," he said, shrugging his shoulders a little.
Elena wasn't sure if Damon was actually being serious or not. But she decided not to question it. "His name is Diego, and before you ask, Caroline sorta set me up with him. Supposedly he works for Klaus." She said as she took a sip of her wine.
Damon nods his head and was about to say something when another man walks towards her. Damon leans back against the bar as he watches the scene unfold in front of him, and he's already not liking what he's seeing, nor is he liking Elena's date. But he's not jealous... not one bit.
After Elena talked to Diego for a moment, she then looked over to Damon. "Hey, Damon. This is Diego, my date. And Diego, this is my friend, Damon Salvatore," she said, introducing them.
"Hey, man, good to meet you," Diego said with a nod as he wrapped his arm around Elena's waist and pulled her closer. That wasn't what Elena had expected, considering they'd only been on a few dates so far.
"Yeah, same here," Damon said with a curt nod. When he watched Elena's date pull her closer to his side like a possessive asshole and noticed how uncomfortable Elena was, Damon was so ready to pull her away from him and break every one of his fingers. But instead, he kept his composure.
"Come on. Our table is ready." Diego whispers to Elena and starts pulling her away from Damon. "See you around, dude." He says as he walks away, keeping Elena by his side.
Watching Diego walk away with his arm around Elena's waist, Damon could already feel his jawline vibrating and his blood boiling. He didn't like the guy and wanted to kill him. Damon tossed back his drink in one gulp to keep himself under control.
Suddenly, Damon felt slender arms around his neck. He was so distracted by Elena and her date that he completely forgot about his own. "Damon, what's taking so long to get our drinks?" His date asked in a very whiny voice he really couldn't stand.
With a half smile that Damon could muster, he then wrapped his arm around his date's waist and quickly kissed her cheek. "Sorry, I'm still waiting for our drinks," Damon said with a soft chuckle.
The next morning, as soon as her alarm went off, Elena opened her eyes and reached over to hit the snooze button. Getting out of bed, she grabbed her robe, slipped it on, and tied it around her waist as she headed out of her room towards the kitchen.
Walking into the kitchen, Elena suddenly stopped in her tracks when she found Diego standing over her stove, making her breakfast. Last night, after their date and after Diego offered to follow her home, Elena ended up inviting him inside for a few drinks. Of course, what she didn't plan on was sleeping with him last night after having those few drinks.
Elena then cleared her throat for a moment and continued to walk towards the coffee machine to pour herself a cup. "I thought you had already left," she said as she took a sip of her coffee before walking towards her kitchen table and sitting down.
"Now, what kind of man would I be if I just left right after sex? Especially when it was amazing last night," Diego said as he set a plate of egg omelets, bacon, and hash browns. "And you were amazing last night." He whispered against her ear before leaning down and starting to kiss and nibble at her neck.
Elena honestly wishes she could say the same about him. The whole time they were having sex, all she could feel was his rough hands and very sloppy kisses all over her body, which didn't feel right to her. It didn't even make her feel good. She felt very uncomfortable and was faking it the whole time. Plus, she started thinking about Damon, which helped a little.
"Can you please stop," Elena said as she quickly moved away from him.
"Oh, come on, baby. Why don't we skip breakfast and get back into bed?" Diego said as he continued to kiss her neck and started to run his hand between her legs and thighs, which was making Elena feel more uncomfortable.
"Seriously, Diego, stop," Elena said forcefully as she shoved him off her and quickly got up from the table. "I think you should go," she said, backing away from him and keeping a safe distance.
" Elena, what's wrong?" Diego asked, not understanding what had just happened.
Elena sighs deeply. "I think things between us are moving too fast, and I'm just not ready to be in a relationship yet."
"Is this about your friend Damon?"
"What? No, Damon has nothing to do with this. This isn't even about him."
"Then, if it's not about him and he's got nothing to do with this, then what is this about? I thought we had something here. I thought what happened between us last night meant something." Diego walked up to Elena and placed both hands against her face. "Don't you feel the same way I do?"
Elena shook her head as she removed his hands from her face. "I'm sorry, Diego, but I don't. Whatever this is between us isn't going to work. So I think it's best if we end this now before one of us ends up getting hurt down the road."
"I'm sorry, but I don't agree with this. We have something between us, and I know you feel it too. Listen, I know you just got divorced and aren't quite ready for a new relationship. But I'm not like your ex-husband. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want a chance with you."
Elena closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and shook her head as she started to back out of the kitchen. "You're right, I'm not ready, and I did just get a divorce. That's why I can't do this." She said as she turned around and walked out of her kitchen.
"Are you seeing someone else?" Diego asked accusingly as he followed her out of the kitchen.
Elena rolled her eyes, sighing exasperatedly as she stopped walking and turned around to face him. "No, I'm not seeing anyone else. But even if I was, it really wouldn't be any of your business. We're not in a relationship. We've only had four dates."
Diego was about to say something when his cell phone went off. Pulling it out of his back pocket, he noticed that it was his boss Klaus calling him. "It's work. I gotta go. Don't forget to eat your breakfast. I will see you later," he said as he kissed her quickly before walking out the door.
Elena blew out a frustrated breath and shook her head as she started to get the feeling that getting away from him was not going to be as easy as she had hoped. She realized that ending things between them was going to be a lot harder.
