Prologue
Three hundred years.
To think that it would take that long a time to find a book like this – a story book – in this library housing over ten thousand books containing magical knowledge and theory.
Heaving a satisfied sigh upon having finished reading that book, the owner of the library – no, the entire magical tower housing said library – closed it, bearing such thoughts in mind.
One would think the appearance of a three-hundred-year-old person would be that of a corpse. However, that person instead held the appearance of a young man in his mid-twenties. Not a single patch of grey could be spotted in his disheveled, long black hair.
Even the glint in his jet-black eyes was that of a youth's.
Unfortunately, that had not been the case before he stumbled upon this book. Before, those had been the eyes of a three-hundred-year-old wizard's, obsessed with studying magic.
A man who had done just that, not leaving the tower for all those centuries, ever since he first inherited this place from his beloved teacher.
The book – a story of heroes and their many adventures.
Having read that book, the man felt as though he had stumbled upon a puzzle piece he had been missing his entire life.
Calmly, he placed the book on the table before him. Then, he practically jumped as he rose to his legs, leaving the wooden chair he had occupied this entire time. With his arms outstretched and bearing a manic glint in his eyes, loudly, he proclaimed to the world:
"—I've got it!"
He would take the next step in this long life of his.
Besides, he had attained the pinnacle of magic. After three centuries, hasn't he earned a break?
He could afford to do this.
And so, without looking back, without making any preparations whatsoever – the wizard that had surpassed humanity, Rito Valasta, cast a spell.
"[Greater Teleportation]!"
In a flash of bluish light, he left for the world outside his magical tower, to the world of unknown.
