Dave returned to where Lynnette and Michelle were waiting for him and didn't let on that he had heard the last part of Mellie's and Lynnette's conversation. He had been very touched at what Lynnette had said about him and he would have to find a way to reward her, but not now.

"Spencer should be here in a few minutes," Dave said.

"I'm not looking forward to this," Michelle said. "While I agree that it's way past time to tell him, I'm not looking forward to his reaction."

"I know," Dave told her quietly. "It has to be done though."

"We'll make him understand, Mellie, even if I have to slap him upside the head until he listens," Lynnette promised her friend. "Both of you deserve to be happy, but especially Spence. I want to see him acting like a human being instead of like a emotionless robot, who hides his emotions behind a mask. I know he loves you he just doesn't know how to show it or how to tell you."

"I don't want you to be hurt emotionally or otherwise," Dave told Lynnette tenderly, kissing her on the temple.

"Spencer won't hurt me physically at least," Lynnette said. "If he does hurt me emotionally he'll feel so guilty that it will practically be pouring off him. He rarely lets his emotions get the better of him, so I don't see that happening, but since this is a rather unusual situation I can't really predict how he'll react with any accuracy. If he hurts me emotionally I don't want you to react Dave, you understand me? I'll take care of it I promise," Lynnette told him firmly.

"I'll try, no promises," Dave said hugging Lynette tight.

"You don't need to worry about me. All I have to do is threaten to tell mom on him and she'll handle it. She'll be up here faster than you can blink, as it is the weekend so she doesn't have classes. When she gets here she'll grab him by the ear and lecture his ears off. We don't have to tell mom what's actually going on, but just enough that there is at least some truth to it. Trust me, Spencer won't want our mother here, not because of him at any rate. She has a way with words when she's upset," Lynnette explained with a mischievous grin. "I have to admit that Spencer isn't usually the one that gets her mad. That's usually Rocky's job."

"I know I'll like your mom," Michelle snickered.

"You'll love her," Lynnette promised with a humorous twinkle in her brown eyes. "Usually just the threat of telling mom how stubborn he's being for no reason is enough incentive to get him to listen."

"We'll see how it goes," Dave said finally. "But not even your brother is going to be allowed to hurt you, even on accident."

That was as good as she was going to get Lynnette knew. Dave was like a bear, protecting her even from her brother if necessary. She couldn't blame him for that actually considering what she now knew about his life after the incarnation was murdered.

The three of them talked quietly waiting for Spencer to arrive and it was only a few minutes later that he did.

~~~Spencer and Michelle~~~
"You can't be serious," Spencer said, once he had listened to Dave, Michelle and Lynnette all telling him things that just couldn't exist.
"Spencer," Lynnette said with a disappointed expression, making her brother cringe. "You know what were saying is true, even if you don't want to admit it."
"How can you believe this fantasy?" Spencer asked his sister.
"Remember when you suggested I might be reincarnated," Lynnette asked her brother instead. "I could tell you didn't really believe it, even if you couldn't come up with a more reasonable explanation."
"So you saying you believe you're reincarnated?" Spencer asked with disbelief in his voice.
"Not think, Spence, know," Lynnette told him emphasizing the last word. "For one thing, once I met Dave the same man that entered my incarnations cabin my dreams finally stopped. I know you noticed that I'm not nearly as tired anymore, because you commented on it and asked me about it."
"Well, yes, but that could be all kinds of explanations for that," Spencer protested stubbornly.
"Do I have to call mom to get you to listen brother mine?" Lynnette suggested sweetly and saw Spencer visibly grimace.
"I'd rather you didn't," Spencer said.
"Well then, listen and absorb what we are telling you," Lynnette suggested seriously. "Yes, I know it should be impossible, but there're plenty of things in the universe that don't makes sense when it comes down to having a scientific explanation for it. You would realize this if you would just open your mind. I told you you need to learn to block out our father. I hope you know I've cursed your eidetic memory about 1000 times in my head lately, and that's because you still member every nasty thing William Reid said about you, none of it true. Of course, as a child I know you couldn't help but believe it, but you're not a child anymore Spence and haven't been for a very long time. I was hoping that you'd gotten past that time in your life and you'd start to live your life more fully instead of basically being afraid of your own shadow."
"I'm not that bad," Spencer protested.
"Oh no?" Lynnette told him then challenged him. "Then prove it! Are you going to let that bastard control you for the rest of your life. Are you willing to throw away your chance at happiness just because you refuse to believe? Do you think that any of us would ever deliberately lie to you?"
Spencer winced every time his sister threw a question at him which he didn't have time to answer before she threw another one.
"I think that you've learned a lot about yourself, especially since we started dating," said Michelle finally, trying not to show her amused expression at the look on Spencer's face as his sister lectured him. "As your sister asked are you willing to throw away our love, just because you want to be stubborn?"
"Well no, but..." Spencer said uncertainly.
"Yes, Spencer it is very unscientific," Lynnette told him with a certain tightness in her tone. "But didn't I just say that science doesn't explain everything? Yes, it has made great leaps and bounds over the last few centuries, I won't deny it. Perhaps scientists will find an explanation for being immortal someday far, far in the future, but unfortunately, that isn't possible right now. Besides, would you really want the general public to know about immortality as you know your history and what would happen."
"Definitely not!" Dave said speaking for the first time. "Humans can be very bloody minded when they want something desperately. I know this for a fact because I lived during some of the bloodiest times in history and in fact, I lost my mate all because of paranoia and superstitions. Something like immortality would be impossible to resist for thousands, even millions of people."
The way that Dave spoke, the passion in his voice, was so unlike him that Spencer actually sat up and took notice. Usually Dave was calm, reasonable, and understanding, but this was a Dave he had never seen before.
"What about a demonstration, something you'll be forced to believe," Dave suggested more calmly.
"What kind of demonstration?" Spencer asked.
"It's simple really," Lynnette explained calmly. "I'm going to shoot Dave in the chest, so that he'll appear dead and then he'll suddenly me be alive again after the wound heals."
"You can't do that," Spencer protested. "You'll be guilty of murder."
Lynnette rolled her eyes at her brother. "Do you really think that I would risk doing this if I didn't know what that he and Michelle have said was true?" Lynnette asked her brother in a hurt voice. "I love Dave, even though we've only known each other for a short time and if I thought for a minute that he'd stay dead I could never be convinced to do it."
"It'll be okay Spencer," Michelle said coming to stand beside him. "I would never allow either one of them to go through this harebrained scheme if you weren't so skeptical and if I didn't know that he won't be permanently dead."
Spencer said nothing but still looked like he wanted to protest, but knew that the other three were against him. They apparently knew something he did not. At least Dave and Michelle believed they were immortal and had infected his sister with their crazy ideas. It just wasn't possible. Immortality was nothing more then sci-fi. It couldn't possibly exist. He knew that what was between him and Michelle was hardly normal, as he loved her with every ounce of passion in his soul, but still, immortality...
There was a soft pop and Spencer stared at Lynnette with the gun in her hand and then at Dave who was on the floor and from all appearances dead.
"What have you done? You actually murdered the man you're in love with," Spencer exclaimed, as he rose from the couch where he was sitting, only to be pushed gently back down by a pair of soft hands before he could stand all the way.
"Sit!" Michelle commanded. "Watch!"
Michelle was so forceful that Spencer automatically obeyed instead of trying to rise to his feet again. He simply sat stunned as the form of David Rossi began to twitch after only 15 minutes or so. Finally, the supposedly dead man groaned and Lynnette was there immediately to help him to his feet.
Dave who had taken off his shirt before his love had shot him stood there bare chested, so Spencer could see where there had been a bullet hole was only dark streaks of drying blood.
Spencer blinked and blinked again seeming to be in shock. He had been so sure that they were delusional or at least believed something that couldn't really be real, but he had just seen David Rossi shot and his dead form rising just a few minutes later alive with no sign of the bullet hole in his chest. It was impossible, yet it had happened.
"I think we broke him," Dave said finally waving her hand in front of Spencer's eyes.
"He'll come out of it eventually," Lynnette said. "We just gave him a humongous shock. We literally turned everything he believed in on its head. I knew it wouldn't be easy to convince him, but I didn't expect this sort of reaction."
"We have to remember that he did see dad shot," Michelle said quietly. "Right before his eyes too. I'm sure he believed that you had murdered the man you loved and then when dad rose again very much alive, after only a few minutes...Well, it was too much for his logical mind."
"I could tell he thought that we were delusional at best," Dave said quietly. "His rational mind didn't want to accept what he saw and right now, I say, he's trying to come up with a logical explanation for it."
"I can hear you, you know," Spencer finally said seeming to come back to himself.
"Well, it is nice to see you back among the conscious brother," Lynnette teased him.
"So are we going to have to do some more explaining?" Michelle asked him with a rather humorous twinkle in her eyes, "or are you going to believe what you saw?"
"I don't know how I cannot believe it," Spencer said finally. "But the question is why tell me? It's certainly a rather fantastic secret, one, I would assume, you don't want many people to know."
"I would think it would be obvious Spence," Lynnette said rolling her eyes before anybody else could respond. "If you think about it, it should be clear to you. Don't be dense, which I admit, doesn't usually describe you."
The other three waited silently looking at each other when Spencer said nothing.
"Oh bother," Lynnette said finally, once they had been standing there for over 10 minutes. "I don't understand my brother sometimes," Lynnette added shaking her head. "The answer is as obvious as the nose on your face."
"You have to understand human nature before you can understand how people turn out like they do," Dave told how quietly. "You'll learn and will have plenty of time to do so."
"The answer I'm coming up with doesn't make any sense," Spencer said finally.
"And what what's the answer you have come up with?" Michelle asked trying not to sound anxious.
"That you want me to become a permanent part of your life," Spencer said finally, looking up at Michelle.
"And why doesn't that make sense?" Lynnette asked her brother with a raised eyebrow. "Didn't you say you love Michelle? Don't you want her as a permanent part of your life?"
"Of course I do," Spencer said automatically. "I still don't understand why she wants me though."
"Spencer we've talked about this," Lynnette told her brother in an exasperated tone. "Multiple times in fact and if you don't want me to go murder William Reid I suggest you accept that you deserve to be loved. Otherwise, I'm going directly to Las Vegas and murder him taking a long time to do it. He'll never know what hit him."
"Let's not get you in trouble with the law," Dave told her quietly with a wink. "There's a better way to deal with your father and it will draw out his agony while leaving him alive. We'll discuss that a little later though."
Lynnette pouted a little then nodded.
"That man that shares your DNA will be dealt with," Michelle smiled wickedly. "I love you so much Spence," Michelle told him, even as she sat beside him and kissed his cheek. "I just want you to accept that you can be loved, that you deserve to be. That you don't have to be by yourself anymore. You're not some kind of disease no matter what William Reid said to your face or behind your back. Intelligence is a good thing, because there is a lot of things we wouldn't have without smart people like you."
"Personally, I think that your father was jealous that you were smarter than any 4 or 5 people put together," Dave told Spencer seriously. "It happens all the time. Even parents who are supposed to love their children can be jealous of those same children for a lot of reasons. If you want to be happy you have to move past what he told you when you were young, vulnerable and unsure of yourself."
"Really, you should consider yourself lucky that you had such a wonderful mother," said Michelle. "One who cared about you, loved you, took care of you when you were sick and made sure you ate healthy. Many children don't have what you do, the love of at least one parent, so why not count your blessings instead of concentrating on what a man who didn't give a damn about you, said? I was very lucky you know, when dad rescued to me from a burning hut where my mother died. He loved me, he took care of me, he made sure I ate and he listened whenever I was troubled or upset. That is what a parent is supposed to do whether or not they are biologically related. I adore my father, just as much as you love your mother and that should be all that matters. James and Tristan will tell you the same if you ever want ask them."
Spencer seemed to be listening and finally when she seemed to be done he got to his feet and hugged her tightly. "I do love you," Spencer said quietly, but with intensity.
"I know you do," Michelle said with a soft smile. "You've got to stop thinking that you're unworthy of me, because that is so far from the truth it's in another universe. You are far better man than most men I have dated. Also, you must know that every immortal has a mate and I'm sure you can guess what that means."
Spencer looked at her wanting an explanation, but Dave was the one gave him one. "Think of it like a soulmate Spencer," Dave said. "Someone you have an instant connection with. Someone you get incredibly close to after just a short acquaintance. Someone you know instantly is the one from the moment you meet. For me, that's your sister, who is the reincarnation of my mate who was murdered many centuries ago whose name was Lettice. I always hoped that she would be reincarnated but I never expected it considering how many centuries it's been."
"That's why you seem to get so close so rapidly," Spencer said looking a his sister who simply smiled mysteriously at him. "Dave was the man that came to your incarnations cabin in the dreams you'd been having."
"Yes, he was, which is why he asked me out on a date immediately after we shared that first dinner together and why I said yes without thinking about it to hard," Lynnette told her brother. "I've remembered more now and they aren't nightmares, so I'm getting adequate rest. Yes, I was this Lettice. How I hated that name! The two of us looked too much alike not to be at least related, though I am taller and have brown eyes instead of green, but other than that, the similarities are nearly exact."
"You could've told me you know," Spencer said.
"You never would've believed it and you know it, Spence," Lynnette said shaking her head at her brother. "Look at how much it took all three of us just to get you to accept that there are things in the world that can't be explained through science. You might even have forbidden me from seeing Dave, thinking that he was a bad influence and that would've strained our relationship, because we both know I wouldn't have listened. You also might have told Mellie that you never wanted to see her again, no matter how much it hurt you to do so and all because you're the most stubborn man on the face of the Earth."
"I wouldn't have listened either," Michelle told Spencer seriously. "When you find a mate you'll never be happy again without them, though I'm sorry we had to take such drastic actions to get you to believe, as I know how shocked you were. If I got desperate enough I probably even would've kidnapped you until you had listened."
"And I would've helped, because Mellie's right about being unhappy just like I've been for the last few centuries until I met Lynnette," Dave added. "I coped and everything, I've even dated some, but none of those women held a candle to my mate who I had lost so long ago, no matter how beautiful or sophisticated they happened to be."
"Surely, you wouldn't've gone that far," Spencer said in shock.
"Did you hear what I just said about never been truly happy again without you now that we've met?" Michelle reminded Spencer. "So yes, I definitely would've taken those actions if necessary, but luckily, with your sister's help you finally listened, so we didn't have to do that."
"I know this is a lot for you to absorb Spencer," Dave said. "But think about it. Would you rather be happy with Mellie or miserable just because you wouldn't listen?"
"The first one," Spencer admitted still feeling rather inadequate and unworthy, but he pushed those feelings down, as it was obvious that Mellie loved him, just as he loved her.
"Well, my stubborn, hardheaded brother finally makes the right decision," Lynnette crowed and Spencer blushed. "He finally listens to his heart instead of his head. I'm proud of you brother."
"I think that's enough information for Spencer right now," Dave said seriously finally. "He needs to get used to the idea that such a thing as immortality exists. Once he's absorbed that fact we can tell him more."
"Yeah, I do need at least a day or two," Spencer admitted.
"Well then, let's just forget about it for the present," Lynnette suggested. "Dave at least needs to go put on a clean shirt and get the blood off his chest."
"That's a good idea," Dave said, even as Lynnette stared at his chest in obvious admiration. "But only if you come with me."
"I'll be happy too," Lynnette grinned.
Spencer tried not to listen to Dave and his sister flirting, as he didn't need to know that kind of information about his little sister's life.
"We better go before Spencer burns up from embarrassment," Lynnette said looking at her brother's red face, arms and neck.
Lynnette winked at her brother before she followed Dave back to the master bedroom.
~~~Spencer and Michelle~~~

"Well, that was both harder and easier than I expected," Dave said once they were out of earshot of Lynnette's brother.

"Well, at least we mostly convinced him," Lynnette said. "I'm really glad that you are okay though. I know we haven't known each other that long but you have become very important to me in a very short amount of time."

"That's the way it always is with mates," Dave told her gently. "They get close quickly and then never want to be apart, which is one of the reasons that I was so devastated when your incarnation Lettice died."

"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere," Lynnette said kissing Dave's cheek. "I'll have to go back to Las Vegas briefly as I have managers at several clubs I need to talk to. I'll be back in a few days."

"Any contracts you need to fulfill?" Dave asked.

"No, I fulfilled the ones I was under and while they wanted me to sign up for at least another couple years my dreams prevented that. I'm glad I didn't now, because we wouldn't have met."

"More than likely you would've killed yourself by the time that second round of the contract was fulfilled as those dreams would drive you crazy eventually due to lack of sleep."

"Well then, I'm really glad that I didn't sign up for any other obligations. That doesn't mean that I want to give up my music, but I can play in clubs here, so that we can be closer to each other."

"I have some contacts, so I can help with that," Dave grinned. "I want you to live with me when you do move here. I don't see any point of finding an apartment when I want you close by. We are mates and we will eventually get married once we've been dating awhile longer."

"I accept of course," Lynnette told him with a smile. "I was just thinking about how to approach the subject."

"You can approach me with anything," Dave told her seriously.

They reached the master suite, which was quite massive. It was probably at least twice the size of your normal master suite.

"To tell you the truth I felt a little guilty for taking Spencer's bed, which is one reason I'll be happy to move in with you but not the only one."

"Yeah, his apartment wasn't meant for overnight guests," Dave said.

"At least we've managed to convince him, that having more money than necessary to live is not a bad thing. It's how you use it. I think Spencer already knew that really, deep down," Lynnette said.

"I believe he did as well," Dave agreed.

"So how are you planning on dealing with William Reid?" Lynnette asked. "You said something earlier about how there was a way to deal with him to draw out his agony."

"I'll tell you after we shower together," Dave said grinning boyishly at her.

Lynnette laughed and agreed without arguing. She and Dave hadn't taken a shower together yet so this was a first for them, though certainly not the last time they would do this. Lynnette suspected that she and Dave would enjoy taking a bath together for many years to come. She could hardly wait.

~~~Spencer and Michelle~~~
"I like it," Lynnette told Dave with a rather devilish grin.
Dave had just told her exactly what he wanted to do to William Reid. Apparently, her mate knew some people up in Las Vegas and he could spread some rumors about what he had done to his family.
"I know it's a little late, since it happened so long ago," Dave said. "But I know some people that are going to care very much that your father abandoned his family for no real reason. As much as I would like to see him fired, at this late date that's probably not possible. Of course, if those rumors reach the higher ups...well, I have no way of predicting how they will react."
"What about instead I switch lawyers?" Lynnette suggested. "I know my father's law firm has a branch here in New York... I know I'm not as wealthy as say you are, but I certainly have enough for any lawyer that looks after someone'a accounts to be very interested, as it will continue to grow over the years."
Dave chuckled silently as he listened to his mate's idea. It was simply fantastic.
"It's a great idea," Dave told her with the warm chuckle. "I'll even have my own account, as I've been meaning to diversify my money a little more in this age of technology. While I have multiple accounts at various financial institutions it won't hurt to have one more. I'm sure if we did some investigating that we'd find things that your father has done that would be at least slightly illegal or at least unethical. A firm like Kierschenbaum, Wieder and Moore is very conscious of their reputation and any sign of illegality depending on what it was would force them to take action. Unfortunately though, that what happened to you and your siblings will not be enough to get the reaction we want, if only because it happened so long ago. Besides, it's not exactly unethical to leave your family in the lurch like that. In poor taste certainly and it definitely shows a lack of compassion, caring or love, but nothing that would allow any law firm to act on it."
"I see what you're getting at," Lynnette said. "If we can find some more recent evidence of things that he's done that don't fit with the law firm's reputation..."
"There's no guarantees though. Yes, your father did abandon his family, which shows an arrogant, uncaring attitude at least," Dave warned Lynnette. "Of course considering his careless attitude, it's quite likely that he has committed some kind of crimes or at least, done something unethical enough that he's likely to at least be demoted. If he has not done anything we'll just have to do it the way that you suggested a few minutes ago."
"So long as he never finds out who did it as I don't want to meet my father face-to-face and I'd rather not have any trouble from him," Lynnette said.
"The firm should keep our names confidential," Dave said. "Because it would damage their reputation if they didn't."
"I know, call me a worrywart," Lynnette said.
"I don't blame you really," Dave said. "What your father did was cruel and cold and sending child support payments doesn't make up for that. That he never had anything to do with any of you after that just goes to show that he really didn't care about any of you or at least not enough to spend time with you."
"For myself I'm glad," Lynnette said. "I'm glad I've never known my father, as I've heard enough to know I wouldn't enjoy meeting him. Rocco is also rather glad he never really knew our father, as unlike me he does have a few vague memories of him. I think Spencer and Roxie are the unlucky ones, particularly Spencer, while Roxie got off a little luckier. Before we do anything we need to ask for Spence's opinion as you know that Michelle will join us in our plans."
"Yeah, she will," Dave chuckled. "She hates the Senior Reid even more than I do, not that I can blame her considering what he did to his own son and lack of self-confidence is the least of it. As for Spencer, I'm not so sure he'll agree."
"Yeah, I know. What is amazing to me is that he has so many morals and ethics considering," Lynnette sighed, as she got dressed.
~~~Spencer and Michelle~~~

Epilogue

A few weeks later

"Mellie, I love you more than anything and though I still feel unworthy of you, I want you to be my wife to share our lives together," Spencer proposed holding out a ring box.

Michelle squealed excitedly and kissed Spencer passionately and Spencer had to assume that meant yes, though he was so dazed from the kiss he had a hard time thinking straight.

"Yes, yes, yes," Michelle squealed in glee. "I've been waiting for this day since the moment we met."

"I know that now," Spencer said quietly. "I just couldn't see what you saw in me, but then, I called to talk to mom and she reminded me that love wasn't logical, that it just is. While I'm still having trouble accepting that immortality and reincarnation are real I have to accept the evidence of my own eyes. All I know for sure is that I love you. I love the way your eyes sparkle when you're amused, I love your laugh and the way the top of your head fits directly under my chin when we cuddle together I love your sense of humor and your intelligent mind. To me you're the most gorgeous woman in the world."

Michelle listened and was astonished at what she was hearing, but that didn't mean she wasn't very happy about it, just surprised that those words came out of Spencer's mouth.

"What brought this on?" Michelle asked after she had kissed him.

"Just that I've had a lot of time to think over the last few weeks," Spencer tried to explain blushing as he gazed at his gorgeous fiancé. "I've come to realize that I nearly threw away my chance at happiness just because of my childhood. I know William Reid was only around for a few years, but it was certainly enough to do his children, particularly me and Roxie, a lot of damage. However, I'm the only one with an eidetic memory, which has caused me no end of trouble. It was like my mind played on an endless loop. My mind is partly so logical and scientific because it was a way for me to hide the hurt and it's just who I am now. Who knows if I would've been different if not for my early childhood. The bullies in the regular school I went to didn't help either."

"I see," Michelle said. "Now that we are together you will slowly start to gain self-confidence in yourself. Love can do wondrous things Spencer. Love can make you more self-confidence when you know there's at least one person that loves you for yourself, it can make you risk your life to save someone you love. True love is a once in a lifetime opportunity and everybody deserves to experience it, even if it doesn't workout for whatever reason."

"I know," Spencer said, even as he kissed her. "I told mom all about you, about all the doubts I've been having and she reminded me that love came in many forms and that I was just as worthy of love as anybody else. She heard about you of course, from Roxie at least and she has been very patient in waiting to meet you. Mom has a way of making me see things more clearly. I, of course, left out the part about immortality and the reincarnation."

"I would love to meet your mother," Michelle said. "Maybe she can come up here on the weekend. I've heard so much about her I would like her to know I love her son very much and I want to thank her for raising you so well. I know we had some problems initially but that wasn't because of your mother. Your mother did the best she could with all four of her children and I think that the two I've met turned out pretty well."

"You mean I was too stubborn for my own good," Spencer said blushing. "I, originally turned to science because it wasn't emotional, but logical and it turned out I just had a talent for it. When Lynnette shot Dave I was sure that he was dead no matter what you all said to the contrary. Then he woke up and started to moan and when my sister helped him to his feet well you know I sat there there stunned for quite awhile."

"Yeah, I was sorry we had to do it that way, I really was, but none of us thought you would believe it any other way," Michelle told him yet again. "We talked about just one of us cutting our hands and you watching it heal, but with the way medical technology has advanced so much that slash would've healed up in no time. You likely would've thought it was some kind of tiny medical device that had healed the hand. Maybe some kind of nanobots. You would've gone out of your way to deny it happened."

"Probably," Spencer said blushing again. "I'm sure this won't be the last time that I'll deny something is real either, as I can be stubborn like that, but I'll try to keep an open mind, because if immortality is real who's to say other things aren't?"

"That's all I ask," Michelle told him. "So what do you think about the idea that Lynnette, dad and I asked you about?"

Spencer knew what Michelle was talking about immediately. They had talked about prolonging his father's agony, while keeping him alive. Spencer had supported them much to everyone's surprise, but he had said that so long as he didn't know who was doing it and it can't be traced back to any of them it was okay with him. It didn't mean he was willing to participate he just wouldn't stand in their way. He suspected he would even enjoy hearing about everything his father was going through

"You know I approve so long as it can be traced back to any of us. This should've happened years ago, but you and Dave have enough clout to make it a success. I know Dave hired a private eye to check into William Reid's background. While I don't know if they'll find anything it is a strong possibility. I guess we'll just have to wait and see," Spencer said.

"Good you haven't changed your mind," Michelle said relieved.

"I would've told you if I had and I'm actually relishing getting back at the father who abandoned us. When mom was still married to him all he did was make nasty comments particularly about me, even that means doing something through a intermediary. So long as he doesn't come the actual physical harm because of anything you guys did to him then I'm okay with it. Of course, if we can get him fired that would be a nice bonus and it'd definitely be payback. You know, normally, I don't relish this kind of thing in causing anyone trouble but in this case, I'm making an exception. Who knows? Perhaps, it will give me some closure," Spencer mused.

"Let's go tell the rest of the family about our engagement," Michelle suggested.

"Sounds good to me," Spencer said.

"So you picked out a lovely ring," Michelle said.

"Lynnette helped me," Spencer said. "She insisted we go and pick you out an engagement ring. She told me she knew I loved you and that you loved me in return and that I didn't want to make you feel that I didn't love you as much as you did me. I finally said yes, just to get her off my back, as Lynnette can be rather persistent. Now I'm glad she did insist."

"Well, I'll have to thank your sister," Michelle smiled. "She got you to do what you wanted to do anyway, but you were afraid to. So let's go tell your sister and my father, shall we? Then you can invite your mother and siblings up for the weekend."

"I don't know if all of them can manage to come, but we'll see what we can arrange," Spencer agreed. "If not, I'll just tell mom that we got engaged and she'll spread the word. Mom at least will probably be on my doorstep as soon as she hears about my engagement. If there's one thing my mom wants its grandchildren."

"I can understand that," Michelle said. "That's what every mother wants out of her children. Another generation to love and spoil."

"At least the good ones," Spencer said by way of agreement. "Of course we won't be able to tell her about the immortality, but we have to remember that she and my siblings, besides Lynnette aren't going to be around in a few decades. If she gets two or three grandchildren apiece out of me and you and Lynnette and Dave she'll be very happy."

"Oh, I plan on having more than two or three," Michelle smiled wickedly. "We'll talk about that later though, as I need to start planning a wedding."

"I'll let you do that and probably Lynnette," Spencer said.

"Your mother is welcome to help out to, if she wants to," Michelle said.

"You tell her that when you see her," Spencer said smiling, feeling much happier than he ever had in his life. While he loved his family, now he had the love of a beautiful woman who he knew he would love for the rest of his very long life and that he had his favorite sister to go with him into immortality made him very happy. While he loved his other two siblings Lynnette was special and he had loved her from the minute she was born. He couldn't be happier and he was going to have to thank his sister for her persistence, but right now, he just wanted to be happy with his fiancée at his side.

The two of them walked out off Spencer's apartment and headed for the new car that Michelle had insisted he get. Once the safety webbing was fastened Spencer took off into the sky to join the traffic and headed directly to a place that had become a second home to him and that he was going to have his favorite sister by his side for eternity just made him happier.

Michelle was happier then she been a long time. She had finally gotten Spencer accept that such things as immortality was real and that had been quite the struggle. She could understand why his brain hadn't wanted to accept it though, as the thought of immortality being real was just to sci-fi, to fantastic and unrealistic. She could go on with the descriptions but there was no point. All that mattered was finally, Spencer was by her side and he had accepted immortality wasn't just a concept, but very real, so they would turn him immortal sometime in the near future, but for now she and Spencer would celebrate their engagement with her father and his mate Spencer's sister.

All was right with the world and they were all heading into a bright future. Michelle couldn't help but smile, at the thought of having a family but that could wait at least a couple years. Still, it was one of the thing she was looking forward to. She had meant what she told Spencer just half an hour or so ago and that was she was going to have more than three children. She and Spencer would have many over the decades and now her dad would as well and that made her even happier, because she knew her dad had been rather lonely for decades. It had all changed very rapidly though. That Lynnette was her father's mate and Spencer being hers was a rather weird coincidence or perhaps the gods that her father still believed in had arranged it that way. It didn't matter one way or the other, but if it had been the gods she was grateful as she had never seen her father so happy is he had been recently and Michelle knew exactly who was responsible for that happiness.

Life was very good indeed.
