A/N: These next few chapters backfill missing Halloween 2021 content. This chapter is a remembrance for Ollivander on the one year anniversary of his passing. The still to be written chapters to come on Halloween 2021 will show the carnival Halloween celebration.

On Sunday, October 31st, 2021, the students of Hogwarts entered Friendship Hall to find it adorned with black blinds and all four house tables covered with black tablecloths.

"So," said Headmistress Kirke seriously, "Before we get on with celebrating Halloween, we are going to take some time this morning to acknowledge a somber anniversary. One year ago, to the day, Garrick Ollivander passed away at the age of 423. Let's all please observe a minute and a nanosecond of silence in remembrance of Garrick Ollivander."

There was a palpable feeling of sadness and loss in Friendship Hall as this minute and nanosecond of silence were observed.

James had tears with a burning sensation in them running down his face as it sank in on him that it was exactly one year ago that he had lost his friend and mentor. James definitely needed to grieve for the loss of Ollivander on the anniversary of his passing. Lily was crying silently as well. It had never been lost on her how devastating the loss of Ollivander had been to James.

Most of the rest of the students were thinking about Ollivander's legacy as the most accomplished Wandmaker who ever lived. As most of them were using Ollivander made wands, and a very specific feeling of loss hit them as they thought about how someone who had made such a significant contribution to their success as witches and wizards had now been gone for a full year and was never coming back.

After the minute and nanosecond of silence, Headmistress Kirke piped up. "If you are currently using a wand made by Ollivander, please stand up and raise your wand in tribute."

The overwhelming majority of people in the hall stood up and raised their wands in tribute. It was mostly the current crop of first year students that remained seated.

Everyone who was using an Ollivander made wand felt a sense of warmth as he or she raised his or her wand in tribute.

This wand raising felt like a giant thank you to the man who had made the most important tool in their wizarding lives.

"Mr. Ollivander, through his contributions to our world via Wandmaking," said Headmistress Kirke quietly, "Brought a lot of light into our world, both for individual witches and wizards and for the Wizarding World as a whole. I would like those of such standing with our wands raised in tribute to perform the Wand Lighting Spell to represent the light that Mr. Ollivander brought into our lives. Please hold your wands lit for one minute and then darken them to signify the loss of Mr. Ollivander and how our world is darker without him."

There were an innumerable number of cries of "Lumos," and Friendship Hall was filled with light.

James felt his insides glow at this. Seeing the mentor who had personally trained him in both Wandlore and Wandmaking gave James the goosebumps. It meant more than he could possibly express to James to see Ollivander get this kind of recognition.

A minute later, it was cries of "Nox" the filled the hall and everyone who had performed the "Nox" spell had watery eyes at the very least. Some, like James and Lily, had full-fledged tears.

James felt as though something painful was being extracted from him as his tears fell.

Being in Friendship Hall for this tribute to Ollivander was painfully emotional for James, but he also somehow found it therapeutic. It was a case of needing to release emotion as James had known the one year anniversary of Ollivander's passing was going to hit him hard.

"Everyone please sit back down," instructed Headmistress Kirke.

They all did, and she continued, "I would like everyone in this hall to please partake in this next tribute. Would everyone please set his or her wand down to his or her right on the table and place his or her right hand on his or her wand?"

They all dutifully obeyed this instruction and Headmistress Kirke said, "Would you all please say "Ollivander together?"

"Ollivander," they all said simultaneously.

"So," explained Headmistress Kirke, "This morning's tribute was the idea of Miss Lily Luna Potter. Her brother James Sirius Potter was mentored in Wandlore and Wandmaking in the two months prior to his unexpected and untimely passing. Miss Potter felt that Mr. Potter would appreciate having a tribute to Ollivander on the anniversary of his passing and also felt that we should do some kind of remembrance today because of Mr. Ollivander's long standing impact on and contribution to the Wizarding World as a whole. "

"Thank you, Lily, " mumbled James softly.

"I knew you would feel the need to pay tribute to Mr. Ollivander on the anniversary of his passing," said Lily quietly.

"Now," said Headmistress Kirke in a more comfortable type of voice, "We are now going to transition from our tribute to Mr. Ollivander to celebrating Halloween, which this year will have a carnival theme, by doing an activity that will actually fit into both."

Headmistress Kirke raised her wand and gave it a wave and suddenly everybody in Friendship Hall had a licorice wand in front of him or her.

"In tribute to Mr. Ollivander, and to begin celebrating Halloween, " said Headmistress Kirke briskly, "Let's all eat these licorice wands."

The eating of the licorice wands began slowly with the pace picking up as they went along.

There was an unspoken understanding in the hall that starting to eat the licorice wands slowly and picking up the pace was the only appropriate way to make the transition from remembrance to celebration.
