Spikemuth Gym Battles (Part Five)
After Piers returned after getting his Pokemon treated at the Spikemuth Pokemon Center, he and Clyde stood on opposite ends of the battle arena while Lincoln and the other watched; the rest of the Louds, Harold and Howard McBride, and Simon Sharp watched from Royal Woods.
"Our boy is up next, Hare-Bare." Howard says to Harold.
"Oh, I hope he wins." said Harold.
"He's done well so far and he still can." said Howard.
"Oh, you're right, Howie." replied Harold. Back at Spikemuth, Clyde and Piers each pull out a pokeball.
"Scrafty, go!" said Piers, throwing Scrafty's pokeball and releasing it.
"Venusaur, go!" said Clyde, throwing Venusaur's pokeball and releases him. Scrafty glares at Venusaur and his attack strength weakens due to Scrafty's Intimidate ability.
"That Intimidate ability's a real drag." said Luna.
"Scrafty, use Crunch!" said Piers. Scrafty leaps at Venusaur and bites him, dealing damage, and weakening his defense.
"Venusaur, use Seed Bomb!" said Clyde. Venusaur releases glowing seeds from his flower and they hit Scrafty, dealing damage. "Good thing my Venusaur has that Rose Incense."
"Scrafty, Payback!" said Piers. Scrafty releases black streams of energy from its body and they hit Venusaur, dealing damage.
"Venusaur, Sleep Powder!" said Clyde. Venusaur releases a blue powder from his flower onto Scrafty; it falls to the ground, sleeping.
"Scrafty; wake up and use Beat Up!" said Piers. Scrafty remains asleep.
"Venusaur, Double-Edge!" said Clyde. Venusaur charges at Scrafty with incredible speed and rams it, sending it flying and landing near Piers. Venusaur flinches in pain from the recoil damage from Double-Edge.
"Scrafty, use Headbutt!" said Piers. Scrafty wakes up and jumps to its feet; it charges at Venusaur and rams its head into him, damaging him.
"Venusaur, Vine Whip!" said Clyde. Two vines come out from below Venusaur's flower and they strike Scrafty, knocking it back.
"Scrafty, Brick Break!" said Piers. Scrafty leaps at Venusaur and karate chops him, but not doing much damage.
"Vensaur, Razor Leaf!" said Clyde. Venusaur releases leaves from his flower and they hit Scrafty, dealing enough damge to knock it out.
"Great job, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Keep it up!" said Lana.
"Our boy's Venusaur beat Scrafty." said Howard back in Royal Woods.
"He still has three Pokemon to beat, but I believe in our boy." said Harold. Back in Royal Woods, Piers returns Scrafty to its pokeball.
"You did great, Scrafty." said Piers. He puts Scrafty's pokeball away and pulls another pokeball from his waist. "Malarmar, go!" He throws Malamar's pokeball and releases it. "Malamar, use Psycho Cut!" Malamar swings a tentacle and releases a pink blade of energy from it and it hits Venusaur, dealing super effective damage to him.
"Venusaur, use Growth!" said Clyde. Venusaur grows larger and his attack and special attack strength increases.
"Malamar, use Pluck!" said Piers. Malamar leaps at Venusaur while its beak glowed white and it jabs Venusaur with it, dealing super effective damage to him; Venusaur struggles to stay on its feet and is suddenly surrounded by a green aura.
"That's Venusaur's Overgrow ability." said Clyde. "Okay, Venusaur, use Petal Blizzard!" Multiple pink flower petals begin circling around Venusaur until it became a tornado of flower petals; it moves towards Malamar and does massive damage to it due to Rose Incense, Growth, and Overgrow making Petal Blizzard powerful and knocking Malamar out.
"Way to go, Clyde!" said Ronnie Anne.
"That Petal Blizzard was so pretty." said Lola.
"And really powerful." said Lucy.
"Venusaur won again." said Harold.
"I hope Venusaur can keep it up." said Howard.
"Don't worry; Clyde still has three Pokemon on standby." said Lynn Jr. Back at Spikemuth, Piers returns Malamar to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Malamar." said Piers. He puts Malamar's pokeball away and pulls another one from his waist. "Your Venusaur's strong; but let's see how long he can last. Skuntank, go!" He throws Skuntank's pokeball and releases it.
"Venusaur, Synthesis!" said Clyde. The flower on Venusaur's back glowed white and his body glows white; some of Venusaur's wounds heal.
"Skuntank, Flamethrower!" said Piers. Skuntank releases a stream of fire from its mouth and it hits Venusaur, dealing super effective damage.
"Venusaur, use Tackle!" said Clyde. Venusaur charges at Skuntank and rams it, dealing damage to it.
"Skuntank, use Bite!" said Piers. Skuntank runs at Venusaur and bites him, dealing damage, and making him flinch. "Now use Fury Swipes!" Skuntank repeatedly scratches Venusaur, dealing enough damage to knock him out.
"That's, like, too bad." said Leni.
"Clyde can do it!" said Sam.
"Oh, poor Venusuar." said Howard.
"I hope Clyde can still win." said Harold.
"We must believe in him." said Howard.
"You're right, Howard." said Harold. Back in Royal Woods, Clyde returns Venusaur to his pokeball.
"You were incredible out there, Venusaur." said Clyde. He puts Venusaur's pokeball away and pulls another pokeball from his waist. "Incineroar, go!" He throws Incineroar's pokeball and releases him. "Incineroar, Fire Fang!" Incineroar charges at Skuntank while fire surrounded his fangs and he bites Skuntank, dealing damage; fire surrounds Skuntank's body.
"Skuntank's burned." said Lincoln.
"Skuntank, Poison Gas!" said Piers. Skuntank releases a purple smog from its mouth onto Incineroar; it turned purple under his eyes.
"Oh man; Incineroar's poisoned." said Ronnie Anne. Skuntank flinches in pain from its burn while Incineroar coughs from his poisoning, both Pokemon losing energy.
"Incineroar, Flamethrower!" said Clyde. Incineroar releases a stream of fire from his belt and it hits Skuntank, dealing damage.
"Skuntank, Venoshock!" said Piers. Skuntank releases a stream of purple liquid from its mouth and it hits Incineroar, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to Venoshock doing more damage to a poisoned opponent. Skuntank loses more energy from its burn while Incineroar loses more energy from his poisoning.
"Incineroar, Fury Swipes!" said Clyde. Incineroar leaps at Skuntank and repeatedly scratches it, dealing enough damage to knock it out; orange energy surrounds Skuntank and it explodes, dealing damage to Incineroar.
"That Aftermath ability's a real pain." said Luna.
"Totes." said Leni.
"Incineroar won!" cheered Howard.
"Clyde still has to beat one more Pokemon, Howard." said Harold.
"Clyde can do it." said Luan.
"Go, Cwyd!" cheered Lily. Back in Spikemuth, Piers returned Skuntank to its pokeball.
"You were great, Skuntank." said Piers. He puts Skuntank's pokeball and pulls out another one. "You're doing great so far, Clyde, but you still have to beat my last Pokemon to win a badge from me; Obstagoon, go!" He throws Obstagoon's pokeball and releases it.
"Incineroar, use Bulk Up!" said Clyde. Fire comes upward from Incineroar's belt and his muscles thicken, raising his attack and defense.
"Obstagoon, use Headbutt!" said Piers. Obstagoon charges at Incineroar and rams its head into him, but not doing much damage due to Incineroar's increased defense. Incineroar coughs and loses energy from his poisoning.
"Incineroar, Fire Fang!" said Clyde. Incineroar charges at Obstagoon while fire surrounded his fangs and he bites Obstagoon, dealing damage.
"Obstagoon, Counter!" said Piers. Obstagoon glows orange and Incineroar gets sent flying back, receiving super effective damage. Incineroar coughs from his poisoning and loses energy.
"Incineroar, Double Kick!" said Clyde. Incineroar leaps at Obstagoon and kicks it twice, dealing super effective damage.
"Obstagoon, Take Down!" said Piers. Obstagoon charges at Incineroar and rams him, knocking him back. Incineroar drops to his hands and one knee; he suddenly becomes surrounded by an orange aura.
"Incineroar's Blaze ability; okay, use Flare Blitz!" said Clyde. Incineroar becomes surronded by red-orange fire and he charges at Obstagoon; he rams into Obstagoon, creating an explosion, causing everyone in the gym to cover their eyes with their arms. Seconds later, everyone uncovers their eyes to see Incineroar breathing heavily while Obstagoon laid on the arena floor, unconscious.
"Clyde did it!" said Lincoln.
"That was intense." said Luna.
"It was." said Lucy. Back at Royal Woods, Howard and Harold were hugging each other, crying.
"Our son won!" cried Howard.
"We knew he would!" cried Harold.
"Man, that was extreme." said Lynn Jr.
"That was, literally, incredible." said Lori. Back at Spikemuth, Piers returned Obstagoon to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Obstagoon." said Piers. He puts Obstagoon's pokeball away and walks over to Clyde, who was checking on Incineroar. "That was an intense match, Clyde."
"It sure was, Piers." replied Clyde. Piers then holds out a Dark Badge towards Clyde.
"For winning here, I present you with the Dark Badge." said Piers. He gives Clyde the Dark Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Thanks, Piers." said Clyde.
"Looks like I'm next." said Lincoln.
"I'll be right back once I get my Pokemon treated." said Piers.
"And I'll be waiting." said Lincoln. As he tries to stand up, Marnie grabs his hand, getting his attention.
"Do your best, Lincoln." said Marnie before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush, his sisters squeal with delight, and Ronnie Anne growl.
Twenty minutes later, Piers returns and takes his place in the battle area while Lincoln does the same.
"You ready, Lincoln?" asked Piers.
"Since I got here." said Lincoln. "But first; Luna, a little battle music, please?"
"You got it, bro!" said Luna. "Wanna join me, Sam?"
"You know I do." said Sam as she and Luna pulled out guitars and start playing a battle ballad together, getting all the Team Yell members to rock out to their music.
"Those girls can really rock." said Piers with an impressed tone. He and Lincoln each pull a pokeball off their waists; Piers tosses his, releasing his Scrafty, and Lincoln tosses his, releasing his Lucario. Piers's Scrafty glares harshly at Lucario, but Lucario stood strong.
"What's wrong?" asked Piers. "Why isn't Intimidate working?"
"Lucario has the Inner Focus ability." said Lincoln. "Intimidate won't work on him."
"You got this, bro!" said Luna.
"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Lincoln. His Lucario's fist becomes covered in orange energy as he runs at Scrafty and punches it, dealing super effective damage; a surge of power rises up from Lucario.
"What's with Lucario?" asked Lucy.
"When a Pokemon uses Power-Up Punch, its attack power is increased." said Lincoln.
"That can come in handy." said Ronnie Anne.
"Scrafty, use Brick Break!" shouts Piers. His Scrafty leaps up, and comes down with a chop that hits Lucario on his head, dealing super effective damage.
"Lucario, use Counter!" said Lincoln. Lucario gathers the energy that Scrafty threw at him, and releases it back at his opponent, dealing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Nice one, Lincoln!" said Lana.
"Keep it up, dude!" said Sam.
Back in Royal Woods, everyone at the Loud house was watching Lincoln's battle.
"That was awesome!" said Lynn Jr.
"So far, so good." said Rita.
"We must believe in Lincoln, honey." said Lynn Sr.
"He's done well in his last gym battles." said Howard McBride.
Back in Spikemuth, Piers was returning his Scrafty to its pokeball.
"Take a rest." said Piers. He puts Scrafty's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Malamar.
"At least Lucario is part steel type." said Clyde. "He can handle flying and psychic type moves well enough."
"Lucario, use Life Dew!" said Lincoln. Lucario closes his eyes and raises his hands; glowing drops of water fall onto him, healing some of his wounds.
"Malamar, use Psycho Cut!" said Piers. His Malamar swings one of its tentacles, releasing a blade of psychic energy that hits Lucario.
"Lucario, use Meteor Mash!" said Lincoln. His Lucario runs at Malamar with his fist drawn back as white energy covered it, he punches Malamar, dealing damage; a surge of energy comes up from him.
"What now?" asked Piers.
"Meteor Mash has a chance of increases the atttack strength of the Pokemon that used it." said Lincoln.
"Man, Lucario's gonna be a powerhouse if he keeps this up." said Ronnie Anne.
"Malamar, use Psybeam!" said Piers. His Malamar fires a beam of psychic energy at Lucario, hitting him.
"Lucario, use Quick Attack!" said Lincoln. Lucario moves quickly at Malamar and slams into it with such force, thanks to his power increases, that it's sent flying past Piers and crashes into the fence surrounding them where it passes out.
"That was amazing." said Lana.
"Lucario's gonna be tough to beat." said Marnie as she looks at her brother with concern, but also at Lincoln with admiration and a blush.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was continuing to support Lincoln.
"Man, Lucario would make a great sparring partner." said Lynn Jr.
"What makes you think you can take him?" asked Lori.
"Let's focus on cheering Lincoln on, everyone." said Rita.
Back in Spikemuth, Piers was returning his Malamar to its pokeball.
"You rest up, Malamar." said Piers before putting Malamar's pokeball back on his waist. "You're Lucario is strong, Lincoln."
"Thank you, sir." Lincoln replied. Piers takes another pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Skuntank.
"Skuntank, use Flamethrower!" shouts Piers. His Skuntank releases a powerful stream of fire at Lucario.
"Lucario, use Endure!" said Lincoln. Lucario braces himself and takes the attack, being dealt super effective damage; he drops to one knee.
"Better do something, Lincoln!" said Lola.
"Lucario, use Bone Rush!" said Lincoln. Lucario puts his hands together and spreads them apart, creating a green bone made of light.
"Wicked." said Lucy. Lucario runs at Skuntank and gives it five solid strikes with his bone staff, dealing enough super effective damage, thanks to his power increases, to knock it out.
"Three in a row, Lucario!" said Ronnie Anne. Suddenly, Skuntank's body becomes coated in orange energy that suddenly explodes, hitting Lucario, and knocking him out.
"Darn that Aftermath ability." said Lana.
"Poor Lucario." said Leni.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was in shock over what happened.
"That Aftermath thing is brutal." said Luan.
"It's like that 'if I'm going down, I'm taking you with me' thing." said Lynn Jr.
"At least Lucario managed to beat that Skuntank." said Rita.
"Lucario's bad, to the bone, his laser bone." said Lynn Jr.
Back at Spikemuth, Lincoln and Piers were returning their Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"You were awesome, Lucario." said Lincoln.
"You rocked, Skuntank." said Piers. Both trainers put their pokeballs on their waists, and each pull another one off theirs; Piers tosses his, releasing his Obstagoon, and Lincoln tosses his, releasing his Cinderace.
"Cinderace, use Double Kick!" said Lincoln. Cinderace runs at Obstagoon and lands two solid kicks to its chest and face, dealing super effective damage.
"Obstagoon, use Counter!" said Piers. His Obstagoon gathers the energy that Cinderace hit him with and redirects it back at him, dealing damage.
"Cinderace, use Headbutt!" said Lincoln. Cinderace springs forward towards Obstagoon and slams headfirst into its forehead, dealing damage, and making it flinch. "Finish this with Pyro Ball!" Cinderace kicks up a small bit of debris that came loose from the ground during the last few battles, juggle kicks it around, making it catch fire before becoming a large fireball; he kicks it hard at Obstagoon, hitting it, causing an explosion that knocks it out.
"Lincoln won!" said Clyde.
"Knew he could." said Ronnie Anne. Marnie was upset that his brother lost, but still glad that LIncoln won.
Back at the Loud house, everyone there was celebrating Lincoln's victory.
"He won!" cheered Lori.
"Never doubted him for a second." said Lynn Sr.
"Way to go, Linc!" cheered Lynn Jr.
Back at Spikemuth, Piers was returning his Obstagoon to its pokeball just as Luna and Sam stopped playing on their guitars.
"Thank you, Spikemuth!" shouts Luna as she and Sam rock the goat horns.
"You did well, Obstagoon." said Piers before he puts his Obstagoon's pokeball back on his waist. He walks over to Lincoln who was thanking his Cinderace for battling. "You're a strong trainer, kid."
"Thank you, Piers." said Lincoln. Piers reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Dark Badge from it.
"As proof of your victory at the Spikemuth Gym, I present you with the Dark Badge." said Piers before he hands the Dark Badge, along with some pokedollars, to Lincoln.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln as he holds up his prize. He suddenly feels an arm hook around one of his, making him look and blush when he sees Marnie, looking at him with a small smile.
"Congratulations, Lincoln." said Marnie. Piers looks over at his sister with a serious expression.
"Hey, sis." Piers says to Marnie.
"Hey, bro." Marnie replied.
"Sorry you had to see me lose." said Piers.
"You learn more from losing than victory, sir." said Lincoln.
"I suppose that's true." said Piers. "Marnie, there's something I need to tell you."
"What?" asked Marnie.
"I want you to take over as the Spikemuth gym leader." said Piers.
"I know." said Marnie. "You planned on retiring after the upcoming Champion Cup, right?"
"I think you're a great gym leader, even if you can't Dynamax your Pokemon." said Marnie. "I love you, but my answer is a big... fat... NO!"
"Why not?" asked Piers.
"If I become the Champion, I'll be too busy being the gym leader!" said Marnie.
"Good point." said Piers. "In that case, let me see if you have the skill to be a Champion."
"Lincoln, thanks for having an amazing battle with my brother." said Marnie before she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush, and Team Yell shout their support.
"MARNIECOLN! MARNIECOLN! MARNIECOLN!" cheered the Team Yell members.
"Now it's my turn to battle him, so I guess I'll see you later." said Marnie with a blush.
"At the Champion Cup?" asked Lincoln.
"At the Champion Cup." Marnie replied before she and Lincoln shake hands; they hold hands for a whole minute before Ronnie Anne grabs the back of Lincoln's jersey and pulls him away from Marnie.
"Let's go and get your Pokemon treated." said Ronnie Anne with a scowl, making Lincoln nervous.
As Marnie watches him leave, Piers walks over and stands next to her.
"I guess he'll do as a brother-in-law, sis." said Piers, making Marnie blush.
"L-Let's just battle, already!" said Marnie, making Team Yell chuckle.
Now Clyde and Lincoln have earned their Dark Badges. The group has one gym badge left to get before they can compete in the Champion Cup. Will they succeed? Wait and find out."
