It was another day at the Ranger base, with Lee walking in to see Mover typing on the computer. Which wouldn't in itself be unusual, but for the fact that it was the only thing happening. "Where's Rev?", Lee asked.

"Geo took him home to meet his grandma. But that's not important.", Mover answered.

"We believe that we have almost finished with the necessary modifications to the Super Hydro Blaster to make it safe for use.", Leo answered.

Lee was intrigued. "What did you do?"

"We simply rebuilt the casing around the weapon with more modern materials.", Mover answered. "Ones that can better contain the energy runoff. We just need to test it."

He flicked a switch to open the panel concealing the weapon. Lee walked forward and picked it up with his left hand. "Alright, let's test this baby out." He cocked the pump on the weapon before swapping hands and putting his finger around the hammer. "Hydro Up!" The armour began to form on him, but his Shift Morpher began glowing with energy, that caused Lee's whole body to crackle, as the armour dispersed. "Still not fully tuned, I take it."

"On the contrary, the weapon works perfectly well.", Leo reported. "Unfortunately, it seems that the issue appears to be your Morpher's energy doesn't properly sync with the Blaster's maybe we should find some way to combine them."

"That would be wise.", Mover thought. "I'll get on it."

"And I'll be getting to work.", Lee said as he handed his Morpher over to Mover. "You might want to use this for your mods."

In an alleyway within the city, the Star Kats were trying to beat the unusually strong heat of the day. "My, this is absolutely stifling.", Grillion bemoaned.

"If those Rangers failed to blows us up, dis planet'll bake us.", Meowbile wheezed. His pipes burst into flame as he zoomed forward, with K.P getting up to stop him and throw her comrade at Grillion.

"How do humans cope without overheating in these temperatures?", K.P asked as she continued fanning herself and rubbing her eyes.

Meanwhile, in his attempts to stop Meowbile overheating, Grillion was banged into a wall, knocking several items to the floor, including a fire extinguisher. After slapping Meowbile, Grillion noticed the item and picked it up. "What kind of weapon is this thing?"

"It's hopefully one we can use to spread some anguish.", K.P said, ecstatically. She took out the Overclock Key and inserted it into the fire extinguisher.

In a burst of flame, a new Automobeast, with a red cylindrical body covered in several nozzles, two fire extinguishers and a fire hose, with his head being a Beal-like mouth with prominent teeth, circular goggles and flames sticking out. "Extanguish, at your service.", he crowed.

Some time later, at the precinct, Bobby was filling out paperwork for a man who caused a fight at a bar, when he was approached by Anya Case. And then there was something else about her. "Detective, you're… walking?"

"And I see you're vying for my position.", Case tutted, and did a dismissive gesture with what Bobby was sure was her broken arm, which had a black glove covering it. "But in other matters, I think I've got a case that only someone with your particular expertise can handle, if you catch my drift."

Bobby took a second to remember that Case was one of the few aware of the Rangers' identity. "What're the Star Kats up to this time?", he whispered.

"We're not quite sure it's them, but it's too much like their standard MO if it isn't.", was her answer. A series of explosions have been set off downtown, seemingly with no pattern. Bomb squads haven't detected any explosives known on Earth."

"I'll get right on it.", Bobby said as he got up and saluted, before dashing out of the door.

Downtown, as firefighters reviewed the scene of an immolated apartment within a block, Bobby arrived to see Kit standing there, amidst a group of people being escorted to an ambulance and an untouched and intact fire extinguisher being carried away by CSIs. "Hey man, what're you doing here?"

"There aren't any construction jobs for me lately.", Kit answered. "So I decided to do what I assume you're doing: investigating the source of these fires."

"You'd assume correctly.", Bobby smiled, as the two clasped their hands together. "So, what've you found out about the case?"

"Not much.", Kit shook his head. "The man who lived here is still unconscious from the blast. The paramedics are taking him away."

"I see.", Bobby said, dejectedly. Then he had an idea. "Maybe we can find something at one of the other bombing sites."

"That was my idea. You know what they say about great minds.", Kit answered. "Should we call the others in?"

"I'll call them, but if there's no response, then we go it alone.", Bobby said to this as the pair walked off.

At the Drive-In, Anna's phone rang, but since she had left it and her Morpher in her jacket pocket while on the clock, the call went unheard, except by Mrs. Riley. Her attempts to answer it however were less than helpful "Damnit, Anna. What's your phone password?", she called out.

"It's a face lock.", Anna called back, as the call simply ended. Mrs. Riley shrugged and put the phone back.

At his garage, George was able to answer his phone. "Doing some amateur detective work? Sure, but I'm currently doing lunch. So expect me to be a little late to helping you guys." He hung up. "Maybe I should've asked where to go as well."

At Geo's house, he and Rev were wrapped up playing a racing video game. "Feels weird to be racing without straining my wheels.", the latter commented.

"Yeah, I can see why you might not like the lack of rushing wind.", Geo said in response. Behind them, the Control Morpher began beeping, but neither heard it over the volume of the game they were playing.

And Lee's call went straight to his Morpher, which Mover was still tinkering with. "His phone number? Why would I know that? I don't have a phone.", he said through the communicator. "But I tell you what, the minute I finish tinkering, I'll let Lee know there's a problem that needs solving." He then hung up.

"Well, all I was able to get was George, and his response was 'not now'.", Bobby told Kit. "We're on our own."

"That's too bad.", Kit said as he held up a newspaper, turning to the lifestyle page to show a headline reading "Sweet Old Granny is Fireproof: Old Lady Escapes House-Destroying Blaze!" "Because I think we have a lead to work from."

A while later, Bobby and Kit found and talked to the old lady. "Mrs. Parker, can you recall what exactly happened at the time of the explosion?", the former of the two asked.

"Well it all happened so suddenly.", Mrs. Parker recalled. "I went over to open my windows and let some air in, when I took note of just how hot it was outside. I specifically recall saying 'Boy, it's a scorcher out there', before the explosion hit my apartment."

"Had you taken anything new in recently that might've been flammable?", Kit asked.

"Oh, nothing that could be incendiary.", the old lady shook her head. "But I do recall acquiring a new fire extinguisher. Just this morning in fact."

Mrs. Parker recalled how she heard her doorbell ringing, as she went over to open the door. She was greeted by a trio of firefighters, one of whom seemed to be some kind of mascot, since he was a small car-like creature that was held in the hands of one of the other two. "Hello Madam, we're here from the fire department, having a giveaway.", the male of the pair said.

"For one day only, anyone who has or might use our services in the future receives a free fire hydrant.", the female said as she reached out a hand with a fire extinguisher in it. "And here's yours."

"Why thank you, young lady.", Mrs. Parker nodded. "It's nice to see young people with a sense of civic responsibility."

Back in the present, she concluded the tale. "Weirdly, the extinguisher is the one thing that survived the blast. It's still in the apartment, if the police haven't finished combing it over."

"Thanks for your time, Mrs. Parker.", Bobby said as he and Kit got up and walked off. "When she mentioned the fire extinguisher, I remembered that the police were taking one away from the other crime scene. And like she said about her's, it was intact despite everything else being burned."

"Right, and there's not a metal out there that can come out of a massive blaze without a scratch.", Kit nodded. "I think we've found our first clue. But tracking these fire extinguishers isn't going to be easy. They could be anywhere."

As if on cue, Bobby's phone began ringing, which he answered to be greeted with George's voice. "Guys, something weird happened. The Star Kats showed up dressed as firefighters and offered me a free 'fire hydrant', which was clearly an extinguisher. Thankfully, I was wearing a welder's mask, or they might have recognised me."

"That seems like where the case we're working is up to.", Bobby answered. "Can you find anything off about it?"

"Just that whatever's inside isn't regular CO2.", was George's answer. "It's some kind of highly flammable liquid that's designed to ignite when sparked. And there's a hidden device which generates sparks when it hears any fire related words, activated by a signal from elsewhere."

"I think we're working our way to the culprit with that.", Kit realised, before taking out his Morpher. "Mover, we need to track a signal to what we think is a new monster."

"On it.", Mover nodded as he went over to the computer, and pressed a key to bring up a signal. "I'm getting something. The signals are bouncing to a field outside the city. I'll get the others onboard."

At the embassy, Lee looked up from his desk to see someone carrying a fire extinguisher into the building. A fire extinguisher marked with the Mafia's logo. "That's can't be good.", he realised, before looking down at his empty wrist, on which his Morpher appeared. "Looks like you're way ahead of me.", he said to Mover on the other end.

"Bobby and Kit already found out the relevant information.", Mover replied as a hologram map appeared, indicating the location. "Get over there quick as you can. I'll bring the Hydro Blaster when it's ready."

"Okay.", Lee nodded as he took advantage of his co-workers' obliviousness to make a dash for the door.

At the Drive In, Anna was in the middle of counting the money they'd acquired from the lunch rush, when the bell rang. "Welcome to-.", Mrs. Riley began.

"Hi we're from the fire department.", a familiar male voice came from the other side, shocking Anna from her trance as she looked up and recognised who had come in. "We're having a giveaway."

"All our potential customers get a free…" K.P interrupted herself as she saw just who was at the counter. "P-P-P-Pink Ranger!", she cried out, pointing.

"Alright you three, what's the scam?", Anna demanded to know.

"Erm, all sales are cancelled.", Meowbile blurted out. "In fact, I think I hear my muddah callin'." The three turned and ran away.

"What on Earth…?" Mrs. Riley asked.

"Sorry Boss, but I'm calling in a break.", Anna called out as she ran to the back room to grab her Morpher. "Mom, I think I've found the Star Kats up to something."

"You're a little late for that.", Mover informed her, as the map was projected. "Just get over to these Co-ordinates quick as you can."

"On it.", Anna nodded as she dispelled the map and pocketed her Morpher, before setting off running.

At the field, multiple signals were coming into Extanguish. "The heat is on in Crosslands, and I'm striking the match.", he laughed.

Behind him, Grillion and K.P were doing a bizarre victory dance. "Until that Pink Ranger spotted us, we were doing well at remaining undetected.", K.P noted.

"But they won't find us here.", Grillion assured her.

"Hold it." Both stopped dancing and turned to see that Lee had arrived on the scene. "I'm taking you in for impersonating public officials, causing mass arson cases and weird dancing."

"Spray it, don't say it.", Extangush laughed as he launched flames from his mouth, which Lee dodged out of the way of.

The other Rangers showed up, already morphed. "Did you forget that we have Morphers that let us get here super fast?", George asked. "And withstand fire?"

"It slipped my mind.", Lee admitted. "But that's why I have you guys." He took out his Morpher and pressed the pedal three times. "Ready! Set! Morph!" He then spun the wheel to transform into the Red Ranger. "Let's go, guys."

"Robolts!", Extanguish growled as he threw some screws to the ground, summoning a group of Robolts. "Light up their world." The Robolts then advanced to do battle.

And so battle commenced, with Lee knocking one Robolt into a nearby crate, before Kit slashed two more down with his Stick Axe. Lee then moved forward to slash and kick more down. Anna then did a spinning manoeuvre to knock some Robolts down, before allowing Bobby to leap over her to use his Stick Saber for more damage. "His is firing me up.", Bobby said as he wrestled a Robolt to the floor.

"Cool your jets.", George said as he knocked himself and a Robolt into a barrel. He got up and shot a Robolt down, before picking up a second and knocking himself down, before using its gun in conjunction with his own to fire at two either side.

"Looks like I need to cook with gas.", Extanguish decided as he noticed a Robolt fall down next to him. He unleashed a wave of flame at the distracted Rangers, who were sent flying by the attack. "What's the matter? Am I too hot to handle?", he asked as he fired another torrent of flame.

"Accel Boost Shield!", Bobby ran forward, generating a pair of energy wheels to use as a shield. But it proved ineffective, with the wheels breaking under pressure as Bobby was sent flying forwards. "That was not how I planned it."

"Sadly, he's already pitch black.", Extanguish laughed. "But you'll be more notably cooked when I'm done with you." He then unleashed more flames, which surrounded the Rangers in a literal ring of fire.

"Ah, how do we get out of this one?", Anna asked.

"If the Hydro Blaster was ready, Lee could use it.", Kit said as he gasped for breath.

"My lungs are boiling.", George wheezed out.

"And I thought the ongoing heat wave was bad.", Bobby commented.

From the side, the Star Kats moved to behind an oil barrel. "I can't believe it.", Grillion said, excited. "We're actually about to get rid of the Power Rangers."

"And then we'll get our due.", K.P said in response, also excited. She and Grillion began cheering the monster on. "Burn em up, Extanguish!"

"The heat…", Lee gasped. "It's becoming unbearable."

"Face it Rangers.", Extanguish laughed. "I'm the one who put you out at last. Not Wedding Pest, not Targetface, not Slashmark. Me, Extanguish!"

"Yeah, not sure who they were.", Anna pointed out. "And I wouldn't clarify. We might be dead before you finish."

Then Extanguish was hit by a shot from behind, fired by Geo, who stood to the side with Rev. "Did you forget about us?", he asked.

"Now, Moe. While he's busy.", Rev called out.

"Thanks, Rev.", Mover said as he ran forward with a briefcase. "Lee, prepare for a special delivery." He threw the briefcase towards Lee, who picked it up and opened it to reveal the Super Hydro Blaster. "Fresh off being refurbished."

"Thanks for that.", Lee said as he took the weapon out of his case, cocking it three times, before grabbing onto the hammer. "Hydro Up!" He pulled the hammer, releasing a fine mist that doused the flames, while Lee assumed his powered up form. "Red Hydro Booster!"

The other Rangers were shocked to see it. "Whoah.", Anna said.

"Where'd you get that red hot suit?", Extanguish asked.

"Say yellow to my new power.", Lee said before he turned around before striking a pose. "I am the Red Hydro Booster."

"We can finally see this thing in action.", Anna said, excited.

"It's a little more black than I pictured.", Bobby commented.

Mover on the other hand was more happy. "We did it. The Blaster's complete."

"You think a new suit can put me out?", Extanguish asked as he unleashed more flames from his mouth.

"Extinguish Blast!", Lee said as the two cannons on his shoulders unleashed CO2 to counter the flames by dousing them. This also created enough force to send Extanguish flying backwards into debris.

Lee then walked towards his foe. "You really think you're so hot?", Extanguish growled. "Well let me cool you off." He launched flaming projectiles from the nozzles on his chest, which Lee countered by firing shots from his Blaster to extinguish them.

"Charge Hydro!", Lee said as he cocked the weapon's pump before firing at the ground, creating a torrent of water that surrounded the whole area, sending droplets everywhere. The force of this sent Extanguish flying backwards. "Time to end this." Lee pumped the weapon three times, before evading the recovered monster's flaming blasts, until he had a chance to aim the Super Hydro Blaster at Extanguish, at point blank range. "Hydro Nova!" Pulling the trigger sent Lee flying upwards as a torrent of water was shot downwards at Extanguish.

"Who'd have thunk it that an extinguisher would be extinguished?", Extanguish asked as he exploded.

From the side, this was observed by a face that hadn't been seen by either side of the conflict for a while. "So you've mastered your new power, Leeleekent.", Roadhound noted. "But can you use it to defeat me?"

Meowbile was quick to spring into action. "Gigantify!" He fired his beam at the energy released from the explosion, recreating Extanguish as a giant in the city.

"Somebody call 911!", Extanguish declared.

"Or we'll go one better.", Lee suggested as he pulled the hammer on the Hydro Blaster, reverting to normal. "Let's go."

"Summon Zords!", Lee, George and Kit declared as they inserted the Turbo Trailer, Dolphin Tanker and Lion Van modules into their Morphers.

"Hey, don't leave us out of this.", Geo called out.

"Get on it.", Rev said, to which Geo input the code "up-down-purple"

"Zord code, activate!", Geo called out as Rev set off running.

"I'm fine sitting this one out.", Grillion commented.

"Me too.", K.P added as she and Grillion hid behind the barrel with Meowbile.

"Zords, combine!", The Rangers called out as the three Zords transformed and came together.

"Mighty Monster Megazord, ready to rumble!", Mover growled.

"Megazord code, activate! Down-Green-Red, activate!", Geo announced as he pressed the buttons on his Control Morpher.

"Rev Megazord, built for speed!", Rev declared as the transformation completed itself.

The two Megazords stood opposite Extanguish, posing for battle. "Now I can make a bigger blaze from you two.", Extanguish giggled as he unleashed his flames once more.

Mover was caught, but Rev managed to leap into the air. "This is… too hot to handle.", Mover wheezed, as the Rangers struggled within him.

As Rev landed on a nearby building, Extanguish began to celebrate. "I'm gonna turn you from white, red and black to quite reddish black.", he cackled.

"And this time, there's no Hydro Buster or whatever to ruin anything.", K.P noted.

"Let's give them a hand.", Geo suggested.

"Or a wing.", Rev said as he threw his Wing Booster at Mover.

The Wing Booster swung through the air and attached to Mover, allowing him to fly upwards. "Wing Monster Megazord, lifting off!", Mover said. "Now I can really do some fly swatting."

"Ah cr-.", Extanguish began before Mover hit him at a high speed.

"Begin final attack.", the Rangers declared as Lee pressed on the pedal of his Morpher three times.

"Rampaging Cyclone Burst!", Mover cried out as he spun around at a high speed, before crashing into Extanguish and flying upwards into the sky.

"I'm put out now.", Extanguish cried as he exploded upon impact.

Down on the ground, the Star Kats got up, deciding that discretion was the better part of valour. "Time for us to get going.", Grillion suggested as the main members of the trio bowed and walked off.

From the side, Roadhound removed a snake-like machine from a hiding place, and clicked a button to speak into it. "Roadhound to Control. The Rangers have acquired a new power to win the day. But Technorg played no part in today's escapade, either in creating or upgrading the Automobeast."

"How strongly suspicious.", the voice from the other end responded. "They are conducting themselves in an unusual manner. Perhaps we should use it against them."

"Maybe, but we need a little more.", Roadhound pointed out. "They're planning something here. And I think we should try and find out what it is before we do anything else."

Back at the Rangers' base, everyone was celebrating their recent success. "Now that we've got the Super Hydro Blaster working, the Mafia had better watch out for us."

"It's just too bad that the whole thing can only be used at ground size.", Bobby lamented. "It's really be useful in Megazord fights."

"We've thought about that eventuality.", Kit answered him. "Which is why me, Leo and Mover began work on a Zord to harness and enhance Hydro Boost's power."

"Thanks to some spare parts from Rev's ship and energy readings from the last battle, we've created this prototype, using hydrogen cars as a reference.", Mover continued. "Behold, the Aqua Booster."

As he pressed a button, the screen displayed a blue Zord that looked similar to the Vision Van, but with the words "H2" written in golden letters on the side. "Now testing Aqua Blasters.", Leo announced as cannons unfolded out of the front of the Zord. They fired torrents of water which sent the vehicle crashing into the wall at such a speed that it shattered upon impact. "Test conclusive."

"Maybe we should take it back to the drawing board.", Lee suggested.

"And this time, let us contribute to the finished product.", Anna added. "We might make something bigger and better."

"Well, ok.", Mover said as he reached his hand out, with the others forming a circle with their own. "So long as Anna doesn't turn out to have a design career she doesn't want to talk about." Everyone got a laugh out of this comment, even Anna.
