12/14/2656- Major Union-Confederation Battle Over Santalnus

"Today, a squadron of Union warships attacked the confederation world of Santalnus, attempting to strike at its important helium-3 extraction facilities. They were met by a similarly sized Confederation squadron built from multiple pirate bands. The battle was fierce, both side receiving reinforcements during the battle, another Union squadron arriving midway through while pirate bands continually joined the battle for the Confederation throughout. The battle ended with a Union retreat from the world, but at devastating cost. The battle gutted several pirate bands and destroyed many of the Confederation's military grade vessels. The Union also lost significant forces, but less so than the Confederation and they have a far easier time replacing those losses due to the Union's advanced industry."
