It was November 17th and I had just gotten my copy of Pokémon Scarlet. I had great hopes for the game after all of the announcements, but I had done my best to avoid any spoilers. I was hoping that the story would be as good as the one from Legends: Arceus, even though I knew that they weren't going to have Pokemon physically try to hurt you anymore. I was also excited because we were getting two new games in a year. I was leaving my local GameStop. I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if those people hadn't randomly bought stock inadvertently saving the company.

Maybe I should back up a little. My name is Luke Martin and I am 22 years olds and I have been a fan of Pokemon as far back as I could remember. My first game was Pearl, so I didn't exactly having the best start, but over time I got into better games including Platinum, Sapphire, FireRed, White 2, Y, Moon, Ultra Sun, Let's Go Eevee and Sword. I was a little bit let down by Sword and Shining Pearl, but Legends: Arceus made it a lot better and I couldn't wait to play the new game.

I knew it was late at night, but I couldn't wait to play the new game. I probably couldn't be too loud because my roommate would be sleeping. I had taken off work so I would get the chance to fully experience it tomorrow. Once I got to play it a little, I would probably watch some of my favorite YouTubers like MandJTV, ShadyPenguinn, and PM7 play a little to rest my hands, but I would only watch as far as I had gotten into the game so I would be able to avoid all of the spoilers.

I pulled into the apartments and parked the car before I got out and took out my key. I needed to get the TV set up so I could do this. I knew that you could play the Switch handheld but I liked the ability to see it on the TV. I thought it looked better there. I took the game out of its box. At that point, I loaded up the Switch and hooked it up to the dock and turned on the TV with volume on loud enough that I could it without disturbing my roommate.

I turned on the game and the first thing that I noticed was it started with a cutscene of a Pokemon battle. I saw the character Nemona was supposed to the rival character. I liked that the has consistent rivals now and not just the opposite sex character. This also made Nemona the first female rival.

Next the game went to Naranja Academy. They talked about the school and the region and I couldn't help but think it was a pretty long before we actually got to play the game, but I supposed it was the best way to play the game. I saw some of the new Pokemon, including one that looked like a mushroom out of Minecraft. It almost seemed like it was advertisement for the school which was a little weird.

The next part involved Koraidon, the new legendary flying through the sky. I didn't know it could fly, but it made sense. There was also a flamingo Pokemon. Eventually, Koraidon started to fly towards a lighthouse, before it crash landed on the beach. It looked like it was hurt and I wanted to help it, but I would have to wait for that.

It was at that point that I finally able to select my character. I always chose the female character and then it let you go through the skin color and hair color. I just went with the brown since the region was supposed to be based on Spain and Portugal and that was what people looked like over there. I also liked the character to look more like a female of me. I tended to the think that the male characters also looked a bit bland. I got that they were supposed to be generic but the male character seemed to be even more generic. I finalized the creation and chose the name Lucia and waited for the next part.

At that point, something strange started to happen. The TV started to turn a bright white. I didn't know what was happening. I heard that there were a few problems with the game, but I was pretty sure that those were supposed to fixed with the day 1 update. Something weird was happening. I went over and tapped the screen a few times and then something even stranger happened. It was like it was liquid. At that point, I tripped and somehow fell into the screen.

I then looked around and saw that I was at a desk. Maybe I had just gotten so excited and the game wasn't even out yet. I then looked at my hands and saw that they seemed to be smaller. What? I got up and looked around the room and something didn't feel quite right. I noticed a bed and a TV and a Switch that looked just like mine…then I noticed a giant Skwovet pillow. Where would someone even get one of those. I was pretty sure that Skwovet wasn't even that popular of a Pokemon. I then noticed a set of stairs. I went down them and saw…an actual Skwovet. There was a squirrel in this house…was I inside the game or something? Okay this had to be a dream then.

I then heard a voice coming from the kitchen and saw a woman…well she looked like Penelope Cruz. If I was in the game, she must have been the character's mother. I supposed that she was from Spain and I was probably thinking of her because she was one of the only Spanish actresses that I knew. She then looked at me like she was expecting.

"Good morning, Lucia." She stated. "Oh already in your uniform and everything. The school contacted me and said that you're supposed to wait a little longer."

I then looked down at myself. She called me Lucia and I was kind of afraid to see it, but it seemed like it was true. I was wearing a white blouse, purple tie and purple skirt. I wasn't just in the game. I was my character.

So this is kind of like some stories that I've written before but I've done anything with Pokemon. What is Lucia going to do in the Pokemon world and how will she deal with being a girl? Even though the game takes place in Scarlet, I went with the uniform from Violet because I like it better. Lucia is played Lucy Hale. Please don't forget to review.
