Ch 119 The Guardian of the Skies Pt 2
"Rayquaza…" Helena spoke the Name of Hoenn's Third Legendary Pokemon.
The Sky High Pokemon roars, causing the air to vibrate and the other two Legendary Pokemon to gaze upwards at him.
Brendan and Sceptile look at the young Professor, "Professor Potter, why has Rayquaza appeared now?" He asked the Pokemon Professor to explain what was happening.
With another Legendary Pokemon appearing out of nowhere bound to have People start asking question. However, those who are very well aware of Hoenn's History know why the Dragon/Flying-type was here.
"Long Ago, back when Hoenn was still anew. Both Groudon and Kyogre were fighting much like now, the original People of Hoenn, Draconid people prayed to be saved from their Battle." Helena explains the Legend of Hoenn to the young trainer. "It is said in a bright Rainbow light, the Dragon Lord descended from the Sky in response to their prayers." The Ability User said to the young trainer.
"The Dragon Lord the Legend spoke about is Rayquaza," Steven continued, being present when Wyscan and Professor Dark made the discovery many Years back. "And the Rainbow Light that was a part of the Legend must be referring to-"
"Mega Evolution," Brendan said, using Mega Evolution countless times to know what the Rainbow light Steven was referring to.
Whenever someone and their Pokemon Partners use Mega Evolution. A Rainbow light will appear, representing the Bond between both Pokemon and their trainer. However, one thing still eludes Brendan. "If you say that Rayquaza can Mega Evolve, won't that mean that a Key Stone is needed for him to do it?" He asked,
Everyone and their Pokemon looked at the young trainer before thinking more about the idea. "He's right," Jackie said, knowing something about Mega Evolution. "Through my time as a Pokemon Ranger, I know that every trainer I've encountered possesses a Key Stone while their Pokemon hold a Mega Stone." The blonde Pokemon Ranger said,
"There are a lot of questions about how Rayquaza can be Mega Evolved. However, that question should be asked when both Groudon and Kyogre cease their Battle." N said, having more important things in mind than wondering what caused the Sky High Pokemon to Mega Evolve long ago.
Primal Groudon roars, seeing the mediator between him and his oldest Rival appear before them. In retaliation, the Continent Pokemon opened his mouth and released a powerful Solar Beam at the Duel-type Pokemon.
Rayquaza roared, retaliating against Groudon's Solar Beam by using Hyper Beam to counter his Attack.
The two Beams collided, causing a massive explosion to occur above the Ocean Waters. During the brief moment, Kyogre took the chance to give a hit on his Rival.
The Water-type Pokemon dove down beneath the Waters, swimming faster to gain some momentum.
Leaping from the Water, Kyogre appeared, his mouth opened and ready to release his Origin Pulse once more. His Special Attack was released, causing a backlash of Energy throughout the Area.
The backlash from the Sea Basin Pokemon's Attack caused more Ice Spikes to appear on the Ocean as well as more Ice Floats.
"Yes, you're right N," Steven said, agreeing with his Future Brother-in-Law. "Alright everyone regardless of who showed up, we still have a Battle to end." The Hoenn Champion stated,
"Even with Kyogre and Rayquaza aiding us, it's our duty as People of the Hoenn Region to protect the Region," Steven stated, wanting to do everything to save their Home. "Let's get going, everyone!"
"Hai!" Everyone and the Pokemon cheered, ready to enter the Battle.
Groudon roared, using every single one of his Attacks against the two Legendary Pokemon. He used Precipice Blades to entrap his Rival in a Barrier.
The Continent Pokemon then used Fire Blast against the Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon.
Rayquaza maneuvers through the air, dodging the Fire Blast. He flew upwards to the sky, evading the Flames, however in doing so he was farther away from the Battle than he needed to be.
As for Kyogre, he was trapped within the Barrier that stretches from the Bottom of the Sea Floor to the peak of the Sky.
The Sea Basin Pokemon searches around the Prison Groudon made to contain him. He cried out, trying to free himself from the makeshift Prison.
With two of Groudon's greatest Foes preoccupied, the Legendary Pokemon continued his advancement. He steps forward, creating another Landmass in his wake.
However, with one step forward came an unexpected change for the Legendary Pokemon.
"Metagross! Flash Cannon!"
"Reshiram, use Dragon Pulse!"
Metagross flew in the air, his X started to glow, "Meta!" A Silver Beam hurls straight for Primal Groudon.
Following suit, Reshiram with N on his back released a powerful Dragon Pulse. Both the Flash Cannon and Dragon Pulse combined into a more powerful Attack.
The Combo Move collided with Groudon, knocking him back and destroying the Landmass he created.
Reshiram hovered above the Ocean with N sitting on his back along with Brendan. "That was a great Combo Move you did with Steven, Mr. Potter," Brendan spoke, impressed by the Teamwork between the two.
Steven was riding on Mega Latios. Hovering beside the Dragon of Truth. He chuckles, smiling at his Protégée. "Thank you for the compliment, Brendan. However, it's a Team effort."
"It's just a coincidence that our Partner's Attack combined to make an even more Powerful Attack." N restated, his gaze shifted to his Future Brother-in-Law, giving a smug expression despite the situation.
Steven couldn't help but chuckle in response to the green-haired Ability User's snarky comment. "Still being the overprotective Brother over Ellie, huh, N?" He gave a look to N.
N merely retains his smug expression, turning his Head back forward. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Steven."
The Hoenn Champion sighs in response, knowing that N was lighting up the mood with their ongoing playful conflict. "You really are stubborn, even in times like this, eh, N?" Steven asked with a chuckle.
Helena riding on Mega Latias gave a questionable expression at the two Men seemingly joking around like before. "I swear, you two always find a way to fight no matter what situation you find yourselves in." The black-haired Woman sighed,
Latias and Gardevoir looked at each other, shrugging their shoulders at the two.
Jackie and Mantine hovered beside Helena and Mega Latias. "I know we haven't gotten together much due to my Job as a Pokemon Ranger." The blonde Man commented, "But those two…have they been like this?" He asked,
"You have no idea," Helena said, turning to her Partner who was using Psychic to stay afloat in the air. "Gardevoir, I know that this has been our first battle since you Evolved. However, let's make this count not just for us but also for everyone back home at the Lab." The young Ability User said, doing whatever she could to protect their Home.
"Gardevoir," The Embrace Pokemon nodded, understanding what they were going to do.
As soon as the group got near Primal Groudon, they began to proceed with the Plan to stop the Legendary Pokemon.
"Alright, Metagross use Steel Beam on Groudon!" Steven ordered his Partner, taking the lead in their Attack.
"Meta!" The Iron Leg Pokemon nodded, flying forward as his X began to glow Silver aura. He then releases a Metallic-colored beam and hurls it towards the legendary Pokemon, colliding with him around his chest.
Primal Groudon was knocked off balance and off guard by the sudden Attack. He then caught himself on the Landmass he had created, his eyes drawn over to the incoming Pokemon and their trainers approaching him.
He roared, about to retaliate against the group. However, just when Groudon was about to Attack, Rayquaza took the opportunity to strike when the iron was hot.
The Dragon/Flying-type dove down from the Skies and rammed into Primal Groudon before he could Attack.
"Rayquaza has pinned down Groudon to the ground! Wow, that's a sentence I never thought I would say." Jackie commented, surprised at what a sentence that was.
Everyone just stared at Jackie, all raising a brow at the Pokemon Ranger. Jackie chuckled it off before moving on from what he said, "A-Anyways, you guys help Rayquaza with Groudon. I'll do my best freeing Kyogre." The blonde Pokemon Ranger stated, looking down at the Pokemon he was riding.
"Mantine, let's do our part!" Jackie said to the Duel-type Pokemon,
Mantine nodded, making a hard left towards the Sea Basin Pokemon to free him from his Prison.
With Jackie heading off to free Kyogre, Steven, N, Brendan, and Helena were left to assist Rayquaza. While the Continent Pokemon was engaged in a Battle with Rayquaza, the group quickly headed towards the back of the Battle.
Brenden took notice of where they were heading, "Steven, why are we going behind Groudon and Rayquaza?" The young Pokemon trainer asked the Champion.
Steven turns his Head, hearing his Protégé's question. "The reason why we're going behind the two is because if were to Battle Groudon right here then the fleeing Pokemon will get caught in the crossfire." The Hoenn Champion explains, wanting to play this smartly.
"Also we don't want Jackie, Mantine, nor Jackie to get caught in any stray Attacks," Helena added, "It's best to be safe than regret it later,"
The Pokemon all agree with the logic, even N agrees with his Future Brother-in-Law. "I see, that does sound reasonable, Steven," Brendan said, learning a lot despite the situation.
"In any case, we're reaching at the Landmass Groudon created." N pointed to the Rocks below them. "At this point, the Rocks would've cooled down thanks to the Rainfall and the Tides crashing into the hot Rocks."
Reshiram nodded, about to land on the recently created Land. After a few moments, the group landed on the cool Earth, getting a foothold on the newly formed Rocks.
"Huh, I expected the Rocks to be a little hot," Brendan said, looking down to inspect the Rocks. "It's cooler than I expected it to be." He added,
"Sceptile," The Forest Pokemon agrees with his Partner, patting his foot on the Rocks.
"Normally when Magma spews from the Ocean. It takes many years for a new Landmass to cool down. However, with how small the Landmass is, it's much quicker." Steven explained the reason why the new Landmass was not that hot.
Brendan nodded, understanding a bit more about how the Region was created. "Huh, then Hoenn's Landmass must've taken much longer to cool since it's bigger than the Landmass he made just now." The brown-haired trainer said, looking back at the narrow new Land.
"Meta," Metagross called for his Partner, his Head pointed to the ongoing Battle between two Legendries.
Steven reached out, petting his Partner on the Head. "Alright everyone, this is where we take our stand in our defensive line between Groudon and Hoenn." The Steel blue-haired Man stated, staring at the Battle.
"Our goal is simple: either retrieve or destroy the Red Orb from Groudon or destroy it." Steven reiterated what their goals are.
"Right, remember where to focus your Attacks," Helena said, addressing everyone on what to do in their Battle. "The area where the Red Orb is located is in Groudon's Head. Focus our Attacks there and we will win this Battle."
Brenden nodded, stepping forward with his Mega Bracelet prostrated before him. "Then let's give him everything we got!" He turns to Sceptile who understands what he is trying to say. "Are you ready to do this?"
Sceptile smirks, flexing his arm as he places his Claws on the other. "Scep!" He exclaims, ready to Battle.
"Then…" Brendan raised his Mega Bracelet in the air, tapping the Key Stone within it. "Sceptile, Mega Evolve!" He cried out as a Rainbow light emitted from the Bracelet,
In response to Brendan's Mega Ring's activation, Sceptile's Sceptilite reacted to it. A Rainbow light shines from the Grass-type's Mega Stone,
The light from Brendan's Mega Bracelet and Sceptile's Mega Stone connected, "SCEPTILE!" The Forrest Pokemon cried out in the air, his Body was engulfed by a bright white light.
Sceptile's Body began to grow a bit, his tail grew longer and took the shape of a Pine Tree. His leaf appendages grew as well with the top being a red hue, his Head grew two medium-sized crests.
The light soon disbursed, revealing Mega Sceptile roaring to the sky.
Steven pulled off his Mega Pin from his jacket, "Key Stone, give our Bond form." He pecks his Key Stone before pointing it over to his Partner, "Metagross, Mega Evolve!" He cried out, a Rainbow light similar to Brendan shines brightly.
Like before, Metagross's Mega Stone reacted to his Partner's Key Stone. Like many times before, Metagross's Body began to shift into his Mega Evolved form.
"Meta!" The light disbursed, revealing his Mega Evolved form,
Helena placed her hands on the Pendant around her neck; she never had any reason to use her Key Stone before. One reason is that her Pokemon weren't qualified for Mega Evolution or hadn't Evolved to the Last stage of their Evolution Line yet.
This is her and Gardevoir's First try at doing so. Helena looks at her Partner, wanting to know if she's ready. "Gardevoir, this is our First time doing Mega Evolution. Are you ready to do this?" Helena asked her Partner.
"Gardevoir," The Embrace Pokemon nodded, ready to do whatever it took to protect their Home.
Helena closed her eyes and then opened them. "Alright then," She pressed the Key Stone within her Mega Pendant, and a bright Rainbow light emitted from the Stone. "Gardevoir, Mega Evolve!" She held her hand out to her Partner and called out to her,
Gardevoir had her arms wide open, her Gardevoirite began to glow in response to Helena's call. A light similar to Metagross and Sceptile engulfs the Duel-type Pokemon,
Gardevoir began to grow slightly taller, her Crest on her chest split into two, her long flowing dress became a Ball gown, the two Crests on her Head grew slightly, curving and her forearms turned white, buffing a bit.
The light disburses, revealing the Mega Evolution Symbol before releasing a powerful Psychic wave throughout the area, "Gardevoir!" The Mega Evolved Pokemon cried out, ready to Battle against the Legendary Pokemon.
Helena witnessed her First Pokemon and Partner achieve something only a select few Pokemon trainers and their Partners can achieve.
Both she and Gardevoir were filled with all sorts of emotions, from excitement, joy, and a sense of accomplishment. "Gardevoir," Helena called out with a satisfied expression on her face,
The Embrace Pokemon turns around, hearing her Partner called. "We did it, you've Megs Evolved!" Helena cheered, happy to see her getting stronger.
"Gardevoir," The Fairy/Psychic-type gracefully accepted Helena's cheers, feeling the same emotions as she is.
N smiled at his Sister's accomplishment, "Well done, Sister. Truly your Bond with Gardevoir is stronger than you initially thought." The green-haired trainer stated, feeling proud of her.
Reshiram nodded, giving an approving look at his Partner's Sister.
"Yeah, good job, Professor!" Brendan smiled at the young Professor as Sceptile gave a thumbs up.
Steven's response to this was expected; giving a loving expression to his Fiancée. Never once did he doubt her and Gardevoir's ability to use Mega Evolution. "I knew you two can do it, I never once doubted you, Ellie, Gardevoir." The Steel-blue haired Champion smiled at Helena.
Metagross seconded what Steven said, "Meta," He was proud to see Gardevoir reaching the level he was on. Ever since he met her as Kirlia, he could sense that she had potential.
"Gardevoir," Gardevoir accepted Metagross's compliments of her, placing her hand on her chest and inclined her Head towards him.
Helena smiled before turning to the Battle between Primal Groudon and Rayquaza.
Rayquaza wrapped his Body around the Continent Pokemon as he tried to break free from the Sky High Pokemon's grip by punching.
The Duel-type Legendary Pokemon flips around, slamming his fellow Legendary Pokemon into the Ocean,
Rayquaza roared, releasing Groudon from his grip. He looks down, expecting the Ground/Fire-type Pokemon to be down for the count.
However, that ceased to be the case. Erupting from the Ocean's Waters, large stone Spikes pierced Rayquaza, injuring him.
The Sky High Pokemon roared in pain, falling into the Ocean from Groudon's Precipice Blades.
Rising from the Ocean, Primal Groudon came out unscathed by the toss. Groudon roared in the air.
Out of nowhere, multiple Attacks hurl straight for Primal Groudon, The Attacks gained the Legendary Pokemon's attention,
Primal Groudon turns around, seeing Reshiram, Mega Metagross, Mega Latios, and Latias heading for them.
"Reshiram, use Fusion Flare once more!" N said, turning to the two Pokemon Siblings. "Latios, Latias, use Outrage together at Groudon!" The former King of Team Plasma ordered both Legendary Pokemon.
Both Mega Latios and Latias nodded, flying forward as they spun around each other. Their Mouths were opened, emitting a blue light,
In a flash, the two Mega Evolved Pokemon released a double Dragon Rage at Groudon. The Dragon Rage hurls toward him, however, Groudon retaliates by using Eruption to deflect the Attack.
It succeeded, protecting Primal Groudon from the Dragon Rage. However, Reshiram's Fusion Flare broke through the Magma and collided with Groudon.
The smoke soon disbursed, and even though it was a powerful Attack, Groudon was still standing. He roared, glaring at those who dared to Attack him, he roared at them, giving N and the other his full attention.
N smiled, seeing his Partner's Attack land, "Good job you three, now that Groudon is paying attention to us, the others can do their part." The green-haired trainer stated, "But do not stop Attacking, there's a chance that Groudon might change his sights if we're just leading him on." The former King of Team Plasma said to the Legendary Dragons.
The trio nodded, continuing to give everything just to have Primal Groudon's attention towards them.
On the new Landmass, Steven, Helena, Brendan, Gardevoir, Metagross, and Sceptile were watching as N leading their Aireal Team in gaining Groudon's Attention.
"Seems like the plan is going well," Brendan said, speaking to his Partner beside him.
"Sceptile," The now Grass/Dragon-type Pokemon nodded, agreeing with his Partner.
Groudon circled around, following N and the Dragons in the Sky. Once he turned to his side, Steven immediately went into the second phase of their plan. "Okay, Metagross, N has turned Groudon around. Now's our turn," He held his hand out, aiming for Groudon.
"Metagross, use Flash Cannon on Groudon!" Steven ordered his Partner,
"Meta!" Metagross honed his Energy through his arms, creating a white-colored orb around his arms. The Iron Leg Pokemon released a bight Beam at the Legendary Pokemon.
Helena follows suit after her Fiancé's actions, she turns to Gardevoir. "Gardevoir, use consecutive Shadow Balls!" The black-haired Woman held her hand towards the Opponent.
"Gard…" Gardevoir held her arms at her center before releasing a horde of Shadow Balls, following Metagross's Attack.
Brendan smiled, raising his fist in the air. "Alright, Sceptile, it's our turn!" The young Pokemon trainer exclaims. "Use Dragon Pulse!" He cried out, energetic at their Teamwork.
"Sceptile!" The Mega Evolved Duel-type Pokemon cried out, leaping in the air as his tail launched in a purplish aura resembling a Dragon's Head.
All three Attack hurls straight for Groudon, all collied with him when he was turned around.
Primal Groudon roared in pain from all three powerful Attacks,
Brendan smiled, punching the air in celebration of their Attacks being successful. "Yeah, we got him! This is going to be a piece of cake!" The young trainer said, not seeing the full picture yet.
Once the Attacks landed from Steven's group, N and the Dragon-types flew in to repeat their strategy once more. "Alright, let's do this again. Latias, Latios, use Dragon Rage once more! Reshiram, Fusion Flare-"
Reshiram and the Siblings halted their advancement, sensing something was going to happen. "Reshiram, what is it? What did you three sense?" N asked, using his Ability to speak with the three.
The Dragons spoke to N, explaining what was happening soon. His eyes widen, hearing what they have to say. "Oh no…" The green-haired trainer turns downward, yelling at the top of his lungs. "EVERYONE! GROUDON IS ABOUT TO DO A POWERFUL ATTACK!" He warns everyone the best he can.
Gardevoir continued using Shadow Ball when she heard something above her. Looking up, she saw her Partner's Brother trying to say something to them. "Gardevoir!" The Fairy/Psychic-type called for everyone's attention in response to N's warning.
"Gardevoir? What is it?" Helena asked her Partner, following where Gardevoir was motioning to.
Her eyes saw her Adopted Brother trying to say something to them from the air. Helena looked up, trying to decipher what he was saying. "What are you-"
Brendan and Steven were also trying to decipher what the former Team Plasma Leader was saying. The Hoenn Champion then caught on, realizing something was about to happen when the Legendary Pokemon stopped their Attack.
Instinctively Steven grabs hold of his Pokeball as Groudon raises his Head and opens his mouth. "Registeel-"
In a split second Groudon releases a powerful Overheat that spreads throughout the area. The Overheat burned away the Ice Floats, burning the surface of the Oceans, and damaging any Pokemon in the area.
