Sorry for skipping last week. I thought I was over my illness. I wasn't. But I'm better now.
Disclaimer: I don't own Hetalia.
AmeAus: Baking Time
Alfred opened the apartment door and stopped. After a full day of work, he was pleasantly surprised to slam into a wall of smell. He breathed in as he savoured the scent of cookies baking. He closed the door and went to the kitchen. Roderich was in there, as expected, and there was a cooling rack filled with cookies.
"Smells good," Alfred said.
Roderich jumped and whirled around. He huffed.
"Could you refrain from doing that?" he demanded.
"Sorry," Alfred said, hands raised in surrender.
They'd only been living together for a month, so they were still getting used to each other's presence. And as Roderich often complained, Alfred had a habit of being loud whenever he wasn't near Roderich, but when he was close to Roderich he was silent, which made it startling when he would suddenly say something.
"This looks great," Alfred said, reaching out to one of the cookies.
"It just came out of the oven," Roderich said. While saying this, he added another batch to the oven.
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Alfred took a cookie, and he winced for a moment at the heat. He popped it in his mouth and his eyes widened. "Wow, this is really good!"
Roderich had a satisfied smile on his face.
"People have actually stormed me for those biscuits," Roderich said. He frowned as Alfred took another one. "And they're supposed to last for the holidays."
"You're going to have to make some more," Alfred said around cookie crumbs.
I have this cookie recipe that I've been baking since I was seven. And people familiar with those cookies have, in fact, charged at me in order to get them. I always double the recipe because it doesn't last long otherwise.
And a lot of people like to bake cookies this time of year, so I thought it was fitting.
