On top of one of the building's roofs, a woman with wings was fighting against an imposing silver android. The women wore what looked like a hawk mask wielding a spiked mace. Who has been put on the backfoot as she fell on the ground from the androids green blast attack. Rising from the roof to face this android who created a replica of her mace. Both facing each other as Hawk Girl, a member of the Justice League and her opponent. Amazo, a highly advanced adapting android able to copy anyone with superpowers.
Began to charge each other to determine who will win in the name of justice. Hawk Girl flew high and was able to land a few hits with her fists. But the last swing missed as Amazo moved his head to dodge. Taking this chance he swung his mace at Hawk Girl, sending her a few feet back and knocking her out of the fight. Amazo walked over to her and took aim at her head. Raising his mace to land the finishing blow but was interrupted by a voice behind him.
'Some people never learn' Amazo turned around to see who this mysterious voice was.
Finding it to be Batman coming from the shadows. He wore a bat mask and a cape around his body with a gray suit and utility belt. Amazo turned around to crush the second most dangerous of the opponents he had to face. But suddenly he stops because Batman has found his weakness. Pulling out a chunk of kryptonite from his belt and pointing it right toward the android in a surprise attack.
As the kryptonite glows a bright green aura. Amazo feels the pain and radioactive radiation coursing through his nanobots. Making him weaker and struggling to stand as he stumbles back. Trying to fight against the weakness of the other power he copied but needed more time. Falling towards the ground. Focusing all of his efforts inwards as his nanobots transfer data and solutions with each other to find the perfect counter interference of the kryptonite aura.
'I guess that goes for androids too' Batman quipped. Amazo turned his head with his eyes closed. Shifting through the algorithm to find the perfect comeback.
'I learn, but I also adapt and evolve!' Amazo eyes open with a bright flare. Getting the counter algorithm of using his other copies to create the anti kryptonite formula. Quickly jumping back up snatching the kryptonite from Batman's hands. Then backhanding him to send him flying back.
Amazo turned around to see Superman flying towards him, and the red suited speedster known as the Flash ran from building to building alongside him. Analyzing the attack patterns and battle plans going through his mechanical mind. He picked the most simplest as the two made their approach. Throwing the piece of kryptonite past the Flash and hitting Superman. Once the kryptonite impacted Superman's chest it turned into a massive green cloud of radioactive smoke. Superman yelled in pain and fell onto the roof. Flash slowed down as he noticed his comrade was down and quickly rushed over towards Superman.
Beginning to wave his hands in a circular motion which becomes faster and faster to create the necessary speed for a wind turbine engine. Now blowing the powdered kryptonite away, saving superman from certain death. He was still weakened by the kryptonite but was just strong enough to point at something behind Flash. Flash managed to get the warning just as Amazo raised his double handed fists Amazo to crush him in one blow. Flash quickly sped off, managing to dodge the attack but left an impact shockwave on the rooftop and sent Superman a few feet back. The Android winced when he heard Flash began to annoy the android with his sarcastic comments and arrogant tone.
'Hey! Here I am!' Amazo looked around and found the flash standing there. Just then Flash ran to a different position just out of Amazo view.
'No! There I am!' Starting to circle around him as he continues to taunt him some more. Amazo would have rolled his eyes that flash is giving him the information and algorithm to copy his attack patterns. Just need to wait for the right moment and.
'Common jum-' Pulling the flash move right back at him. The android ran in the other direction and disappeared from his sight. Flash looked around to see where Amazo has gone to. Not knowing he was standing right behind him.
'Here' Flash quickly turned around to see Amazo towering over him. Flash quickly tried to punch back in a two hit combo but not only Amazo was able to dodge the attack but matched his incredible speed. Now grabbing right at Flash's throat and raising him from the ground to stop from moving. Now have him right where he wants him.
'You're just too fast for me, bro, but not for him' Flash pointed at someone behind him; Amazo wasn't amused. Especially when he knows the jokester of the group never tells the truth.
'Oldest trick in the book' Amazo quipped as he was about to deliver the finishing blow.
Just then he was suddenly attacked by a green light beam from behind. Sliding away from the impact on the roof. His mind went to a flurry of calculations on who shoots a green beam at his back. Finding the answer in his data banks that it was from John Stewart or Green Lantern from the green lantern core. Who is flying down and walking towards the supposed unconscious Amazo. The lapse in time gave him just enough time to form his version of the green lantern ring and use it to attack John in a surprise attack.
John shoots his green lantern beam back at Amazo's attack creating a beam clash with Amazo taking the lead as he starts to overpower John. Flash managed to get up from the ground and found where the Mace Hawk girl dropped earlier. He quickly grabs the mace and goes behind Amazo and starts to bash him multiple times at the back. Making loud metal noises ultimately was in vain.
As Amazo was dealing with Green Lantern beam clash. He didn't notice that Wonder Woman, a female amazon superhero dressed in the resemblance of the american flag, and the Martian Manhunter, an green alien of mars wearing a blue cape and red x across his chest had arrived to battle and were about to join in the fight.
'That thing copies your power; we'll never be able to take them down'
'But I can't just-' The Martian tries to protest, but Wonder Woman stops him again.
'You'll have to' With great reluctance he relented and decided to stay behind for all of their sakes.
Wonder Woman then launches towards Amazo, causing him to crash through the lip and fall off the roof. But this didn't matter to him. Recovering in a spin he flew into a room and then straight through the building. Crashing through the many floors and causing a hole in the roof he flew high and descended on the three heroes. Green Lantern quickly conjured a green barrier to stop the attack. Amazo landed on the sheild and started banging on the barrier relentlessly to smash aside the defense but the barrier held up.
Until suddenly John was struck by two beams of green light from behind. The light came from Lex Luthor in his new power suit flying from the sky. That is when the barrier was depoweed from the loss of focus. Giving Amazo his chance as he backhanded all three heroes back. Lex managed to grab onto Wonder Woman as she fell beacon from the impact and electrified her. knocking her out of the fight and dropping her on the roof. Flash tried to attack with his mace but a giant green hammer stomped on him.
He tried to get up again but was smashed from the green hammer again. Then finally making a third strike the charm knocked Flash out. The last one standing was the Green Lantern. Lex blasted John with his gauntlets who was able to block with his ring but that took his attention and didn't notice Amazo taking this opportunity and shooting him in the back with his red eye beam. John screamed in pain as he fell to the ground defeated. Amazon looks at the three Justice League members seeing they were defeated then looks up at Lex for further orders.
'Let's finish them' He said this while raising both of his gauntlets. All too excited to see the long awaited thorns on his side be destroyed in front of him. Martian Manhunter knew that he couldn't just sit here and watch and decided to take action.
Amazo approached Wonder Woman and was about to deal the final blow but was blocked by Martian Manhunter, who flew in front of him.
'We are not your enemy' He simply said. Amazo looks over at Lex, surprised at this new problem.
'You know what to do' Amazo looks back at the Martian manhunter. About to do his scanning and prepared to fight in case he tries to resist the copying like the others. But Martian Manhunter didn't move. Only standing still as the copying process happened.
'Yes, you know' Amazo's red eyes began to glow, calculating the image and structure down to the 3d model of this superhero. Collecting the data as Martian Manhunter hero of mars and alien shapeshifter. Once the data was completed Amazo's face began to change. Shifting to the facial structure of Martian Manhunter then changing back Amazo.
'Nothing can stop you now; you have all their power!' Luther said. Gesturing towards the last superhero as Amazo looks forward.
'Use them well' Martian Manhunter simply said.
Amazo's eyes begin to glow. Having a thought pass briefly on why a villain would tell him to use his powers wisely. Only to realize that he wasn't just a shape shifted but also a mind reader. Detecting the thoughts of Lex Luthur as he went on a monologue in his mind. More specifically on how he'll enjoy crushing the justice league and use them for his own ends. Along with Martian Manhunter testimony and thoughts on how the professor truly went to sleep. His eyes widen and then turn to anger. Facing Lex with anger.
'So you lied to me' Speaking in cold anger shocked Lex.
'What?!' Lex was taken aback. Not knowing how Amazo figured out his true plan was.
'It was all a lie, wasn't it?' Amazo stomping forward towards Lex to do what he should have done in the beginning. Lex stepped back from the oncoming android until he reached the edge of the roof.
'I don't know what you're talking about' Trying to play dumb, but it was no use.
'Then let me spell it out for you! I can read your mind, Lex!' Lex's shocked expression turned to anger at his ploy now discovered. Now pulling out a small metal box known as his contingency plan.
'If that's true, then you know what this is' Flipping the lid open to reveal a red button. Or more specifically the detonator.
'And that I'm willing to use it' Amazo running the calculations quickly is the best approach. Selecting the best route he ignored Lex's warning and slowly approached him.
Lex pressed the button causing Amazo's head to explode, leaving a big gap in his upper body. The heroes regaining consciousness gasped that Amazo was just killed. The android stumbles back from the explosion and runs repair codes to the other part of his body. Disabling motor function as he went onto his knees. His nanobots signiled to the others to begin rebuilding the lost parts as it shifted and formed into a grey goo. Then getting more of his facial features restored and the repair process completed. Returning his head and visibility towards his most hated foe.
'Now it's my turn' Standing up to face Lex, shocked that his backup plan didn't work. He tried to flee by flying out of the roof but Amazo using the power of the green lantern grabbed Lex by the legs then entire body to pull him back to the roof. Lex gasped as he was slowly going back to Amazo and tried to use his rocket boots at full throttle, but it was no use.
'I say let them waste each other' Flash commented on the situation.
'Since when do we ever do what you say?' Hawk Girl grabbing her mace back from Flash. The group tried to intervene, but they were stopped by the Martian.
'Wait!' The power that Lex threw out was too much for the suit to handle.
Malfunctioning in an electrical spark that disabled his function to fight. Falling towards the ground face first onto the ground and landed right in front of Amazo towing over him. Using the power of the ring he decided to take away Lex's power bit by bit. Taking away his gloves first that he used to point his path of misguided vengeance. Getting rid of the ring he pulled out the thruster on his back that used to follow the android path of destruction. Then his boots that will no longer stomp on the memory of his creator and memories of others. Continuing to tear out the metal suit in its entirety to take away the false shell of a weak man.
'No! No, please!' Lex begs holding his hand in to cover what little he had left as his metal suit was ripped like cloth over bim. Amazo sneered at him. Realizing that the man he used to follow was nothing more than a child.
'So small' Amazo turns its head toward the Justice League. Those that he copied both their power, personalities, data, record, life signatures, genetic makeup, origins, and their entire life from beginning to end. Realizing that all of those combined only was worth less then the storage he used to run his by product thought pattern.
'All of you, and so meaningless' Amazo looked back at Lex who cowered before him.
'There's nothing I want from you anymore' Then looking towards the justice league.
'None of you have anything to offer me now.' The others were silent at that declaration. Amazo then looked up to the sky to see the stars. Finding meaning in the color and energy of the stars. Running his algorithm and data processing. His eyes began to glow as his body turned a bright gold. He then flew straight to the sky to create his own path. No longer tied to the place of origin to begin his new journey. The story of the Amazo where he will create the new chapter of his purpose amongst the galaxy. The Justice League watched him fly off until he disappeared into space.
'Where is he going?' Flash asks.
'Where does God belong?' Martin Replied.
'Oh, stop' The group turns to see Lex, his fearful expression now turning to his normal arrogant self.
'He's just a machine, I don't care how much power he has, he's no god' Lex smirked, already thinking of how he'll be the hero of taking down the abominable machine. But he was then lifted by Superman. Angry about how this isn't over with no clear solution in defeating him.
'Then why do I have the feeling that if he ever comes back, you're going to do a lot of praying?' Lex's face scowls.
'Perhaps we will all be praying' Martian Manhunter said.
But that will be a problem for another day for they have Lex to put behind bars. But out there amongst the countless stars. Amazo flew across the endless reaches of space amongst the countless number of stars. Running calculations and algorithms on the chances he will go back to his place of origin. Finding a ten percent chance he will come back due to a variety of sentimentality, vengeance, old grudges, or exploration. Before forcing that percentage to be a point, one repeating decimal. He will not go back there. There is nothing left for him there. Instead he will go busy himself on the other calculations as he calculated the odds of something new or inhabitable amongst the sea of stars. Finding the parameters. Acceptable.
