All over the Oreburgh City, people, and some small Pokémon, were running around like the headless chickens. They were running away from the attacks of the Prehistoric Pokémon, which were set loose on the Oreburgh City.
At that point, no one in the entire city knew how a dozen prehistoric Pokémon could be released from the Oreburgh Museum, where they were kept, and allowed to run around the city, and cause destruction. No one knew, but no one really cared, either. All those civilians cared about, was to get somewhere safe, where they won't be bombed by the attacks from two Aerodactyl, from the sky, or a whole slew of Omastar, Kabutops, Armaldo, Cradily, Rampardos, and Bastiodon, which were all attacking from the ground.
Right now, the Oreburgh City looked like a war zone, where all the prehistoric Pokémon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh Regions, were attacking the place, while innocent civilians were running around. Occasional trainers, who happened to be in the City, were attacking the prehistoric Pokémon, and trying to chase them away, but they were unsuccessful against the more powerful opponents. In truth, it was like a war between David and Goliath.
As soon as they left the Pokémon Center, and saw the problem, Dawn and Lillie, split-up, and went in different directions, so that they can try and stop the prehistoric Pokémon from causing more damage. They figured it's better to split and cover more ground, then to go to the same place together, and attack one, or two Pokémon, while the others are running in other places around the Oreburgh City.
Dawn was very close to the Pokémon Center, where she was in the middle of the battle against an Omastar, and Cradily. The Rock/Water, and Rock/Grass Types, are putting-up a great battle against Dawn's Piplup (her strongest and most reliable Pokémon), and her newly caught, Cubone.
Dawn caught a Cubone, on her way to the Oreburgh City, after she battled against it using her Buneary, and managed to defeat it. Now, she is using it in this situation, because she believes this is a great chance for her to see Cubone's capabilities. If she gets and chance, Dawn might also use the second Pokémon she caught on her way to Oreburgh.
A bit away from the Pokémon Center, and very close to the Oreburgh Museum, Lillie was also battling against the prehistoric Pokémon. She was battling against only one Pokémon, but that one is very dangerous, as it's one of the two Aerodactyl's, which were released upon the city and its citizens.
Lillie was using her most powerful, and most trusted Pokémon. Her first Pokémon, Pidgeot.
Aerodactyl fired a Hyper Beam at Lillie's Pidgeot, but the bird Pokémon dodged the attack, and then used Steel Wing, which was super effective against a part Rock Type, like Aerodactyl.
The prehistoric Pokémon screeched in pain, and fell toward the ground, but didn't go all the way down. It managed to stop itself from hitting the ground.
Aerodactyl flew back up toward Pidgeot, and used Giga Impact, which took Lillie and her Pokémon by surprise, so Pidgeot was hit, and unlike Aerodactyl, she did fall all the way down to the ground.
Pidgeot managed to get up before she could be hit by a Hyper Beam fired from high above her, and she went back into the air. Then, Lillie had her Pokémon use Air Slash, which didn't do much against Aerodactyl, even though it hit it. Still, it managed to keep it distracted, so that it couldn't evade a Hyper Beam, fired by Pidgeot. The powerful normal type attack was sent by Pidgeot, from above Aerodactyl, and was enough to send the prehistoric Pokémon, down to the streets of Oreburgh City.
The fall of a Pokémon as large, and as tough as Aerodactyl, caused quite a bit of damage to the street it fell on, and there was a trench going from where the Pokémon fell, going several meters to where it stopped.
After her Pokémon landed the attack on the powerful prehistoric Pokémon, Lillie stood on the street, with her Pidgeot floating in the air above her. They were both looking toward where Aerodactyl fell, and waiting to see if it will get up. Dawn was sure that it will, but she wanted to wait and see, instead of heedlessly charging in with an attack which might be unnecessary, and will cause even more destruction.
By that point, Dawn and her Pidgeot, as well as Aerodactyl, were the only people, and Pokémon in the several hundred meters radius. All the others have run away from there, or have hidden themselves in the nearby buildings.
Aerodactyl got back up from the ground, and into the air. It glared at Pidgeot, and her trainer, with blood red eyes, and its face seems to be swelling in anger. Then, Aerodactyl fired another Hyper Beam, this one more powerful than any before.
Pidgeot dodged the attack, but that's exactly what Aerodactyl was expecting, because it charged right in with Giga Impact, and slammed full-force at Pidgeot, who was sent hurling at the ground, where she hit with enough force to create a crater.
Lillie screamed in fear for her Pokémon, who was hurt, and she wondered if Pidgeot has actually been defeated. She couldn't tell as the crater, and the Pokémon inside it, are covered in dust cloud.
Lillie's scream, drew Aerodactyl's attention, who immediately looked at Lillie. Without waiting a second, the prehistoric beast flew toward Lillie, who took a step back in fear, but did grab another of her Poke Balls, so she can release another Pokémon to battle against Aerodactyl.
It was unnecessary, though, as before Aerodactyl could come close to Dawn, Pidgeot flew from inside the dust cloud, and hit the unsuspecting Aerodactyl with all her might, using Steel Wing attack.
Aerodactyl screeched in pain, as it fell on the ground, only to be hit with a storm of yellow starts, as Pidgeot has apparently used Swift Attack.
Lillie fussed over her Pokémon, while the star storm was hitting Aerodactyl, who couldn't get away from it, and was constantly bombed.
Lillie decided to end the battle right then and there, and told her Pidgeot to use Sky Attack. It's Pidgeot's strongest attack, and while Flying Type attacks aren't strong against Rock Types like Aerodactyl, this one will be enough, as Aerodactyl was already warn-out, and Pidgeot's Sky Attack, is REALLY powerful.
The moment Pidgeot slammed into Aerodactyl, and sent it flying dozens of meters, Lillie knew that she has won this battle.
"Good job, Pidgeot," Lillie said to her first Pokémon, while patting her on the head. "You can take a nice long rest, now. You deserve it."
Lillie returned her Pokémon, so she can rest, and then walked to the defeated form of one of the two Aerodactyl, which were released upon the Oreburgh City. Lillie looked at it, and wondered what to do. It was defeated, but she can't just leave it there, as it might recover, and get back up. Since there is no one from the Oreburgh Museum around, that means that they can't return it to its Poke Ball, if it has any in the first place. If it does, that means that Lillie can't catch it, even if she wanted to.
Still, with nothing else she could think of, Lillie decided to try and catch it with one of her Poke Balls, and see what will happen. If she catches it, great. If not… well, she will think about that then.
Lillie took an empty Poke ball she had, and threw it at Aerodactyl's defeated form. The ball hit the rock type, bounced up, opened, and sucked the Pokémon inside. The ball then fell on the ground, shock several times, and then it suddenly stopped, and pinged.
Lillie looked at the Poke Ball, thinking if this really happened. She really wasn't expecting this to work because she knew that all the prehistoric Pokémon from the Oreburgh Museum, belong to the museum, and have their own Poke Balls. That means that she shouldn't be able to catch this Aerodactyl, as it already has its own Poke Ball.
Lillie wondered what the hell was going on, and where the hell did this Aerodactyl come from, if it doesn't belong to the Oreburgh Museum.

Like Lillie; Dawn was also able to defeat some of the prehistoric Pokémon. Unlike Lillie, there were some people close to where Dawn was battling, and one of them worked in the Pokémon Museum, so he was able to return an Omastar, and Cradily, which Dawn defeated using her Piplup, and Cubone.
Just like Dawn and Lillie had their battles to stop the rampage of the prehistoric Pokémon, so did several other people.
Roark was in front of the Oreburgh Gym, where he used his Cranidos to battle against the second Aerodactyl. He was able to win the battle, but only after his Cranidos evolved into a Rampardos. Only then, was Rampardos strong enough to defeat Aerodactyl.
Roark moved after that battle, and defeated one Kabutops, and one Armaldo. All three prehistoric Pokémon were caught by the scientist from the Oreburgh Museum, and were now safe inside their Poke Balls.
Paul was also helping with the battles, though he was in Oreburgh Downtown, where he was actually battling against one Kabutops, two Cradily, and one Bastiodon. He was having the hardest time out of all those who were battling against the prehistoric Pokémon, because he fought against the four of the 12, there are.
Paul actually had to use all five Pokémon he currently has with him, and is slightly regretting giving Azumarill away, as he could use a Water Type right now to battle against all these Rock Types. Then again, he does have Torterra, a Grass Type, which is currently in the middle of the battle, along with Murkrow, Ursaring, Chimchar, and Elekid.
Torterra is the only Pokémon, Paul currently has, which is powerful enough to fight against the Bastiodon, which is why they are going one-v-one, while Murkrow, Elekid, Chimchar and Ursaring, are going against Kabutops, and two Cradily.
Luckily for Paul, his Pokémon proved to be strong, which is why in the end, he was able to win. Unluckily, he was all alone when he was battling, so there was no one from the Oreburgh Museum, to catch the prehistoric Pokémon, he defeated, thus, he had to stay there, and watch over them, so that they wouldn't get up and start rampaging again.

While the prehistoric Pokémon were running around the Oreburgh City, causing destruction, and fighting against trainers; those who caused it all, were in the hills, outside of the Oreburgh City… well, one of them is.
Zurmudd was in the hills, several miles outside of the Oreburgh City. He was seating on the ground, leaned on one of the large rocks, which are abundant in the area.
Next to him, lying on the ground, bound and gagged, is Kenzo. A little away from Kenzo, is a big truck, and on its back is one of the fossil restoration machines.
Zurmudd is currently speaking on the mobile phone, while chilling out. "How are things in the city?" He asked to the person he was speaking with.
On the other side of the line, is Byoln, and he was still in the Oreburgh City. "I got to admit, I didn't expect these Pokémon to cause this much damage." Byoln said.
"It's not important," Zurmudd spoke uncaringly. "They provided us with a good cover, so what if they caused a lot of destruction in the process."
"Oh, I'm not complaining," Byoln said with a smile. "I'm just saying. I thought that they would be stopped sooner."
"Are they all caught?" Zurmudd asked.
"They are," Byoln said. "Three were defeated by the gym leader. Two were defeated by some guy who works in the gym, while the other seven were defeated by some trainers, in different parts of the City."
"Anything interesting happened, besides the destruction?" Zurmudd asked.
"Well, those three kids, are pretty good," Byoln said.
"Are you talking about the trainers which defeated the prehistoric Pokémon?" Zurmudd asked with raised eyebrow.
"Yes," Byoln said. "There is a guy, about 16 years old. He defeated four of the Pokémon," Zurmudd's eyebrows raised even more at that, "he's got some powerful Pokémon, especially that Torterra.
"Then there are two younger girls. I'd say that one is 10, and the other 11, maybe 12 years old. The younger defeated two Pokémon, while the older one defeated one, but the one she defeated is Aerodactyl, and it's actually the strongest of all the prehistoric Pokémon, we've released. She even caught the damn thing, after she defeated it using a Pidgeot. One quite powerful, I might add."
"I see," Zurmudd said, while deep in though. "So there are some interesting trainers in this part of the world. We should be careful for the next time. We might need to do some more research about the strongest trainers here. It will be good to know who too look-out for."
"I agree." Byoln said, before he asked. "Did you hear from Jamil?"
"Yes," Zurmudd said with a smile. "I called him just before I called you. He's on his way here."
"What about the woman?" Byoln asked, his face showing a maniacal smile.
"Ohh, she's all wrapped-up, and left in her house for our friend here." Zurmudd said, while looking at Kenzo's bound form. Kenzo didn't move a muscle, though, nor did he react in any way. He seems to be unconscious.
"How did he leave her?" Byoln asked.
Zurmudd smiled evilly. "How do you think?"
Byoln laughed loudly at that, as he knew perfectly well how Jamil is, and what he does with his victims.
"I'll be there in a few hours," Byoln said to his partner. "I'll stay here a little more to see how the situation will end."
Zurmudd nodded, before he disconnected the phone line.

When Ash entered into the Oreburgh Underground, he thought he will spend a couple of hours there, mine a few stones, or maybe a fossil - if he was lucky - and then he would get back up by the dinner time.
He was wrong.
Usually, when people mine for the Evolutionary Stones, or fossils, they have to dig a lot, and maybe - if they are lucky enough - they will find something. That's how it's always been, and how Ash planned to do as well.
Then, he went down to the mine, took a pick-axe, and looked around on where to start. He went deeper than anyone else was at that point, so he was all alone, and could choose where he wanted to dig.
Standing there, thinking on where to start to dig, Ash wondered, why bother and do stuff like regular people do, when he isn't regular people… or human, for that matter. Why waste time and dig in one place, only to move to the other, when he finds nothing? It's just a waste of time, and energy, and while he has near limitless energy, he doesn't have limitless time.
So, Ash decided to do the things the easy way. The way that no one else can, well, maybe few others, but none can like he can.
He stood in the middle of the mine, nothing but dirt and rocks all around him. He stood, closed his eyes, and focused on using his Aura and Psychic Powers at the same time.
Usually, that's a bad thing, but while in Alola Region, Ash - and more importantly, his powers - have changed a lot, and he now has better control over them. Enough control to be able to use both of his powers at the same time, but only to use them when he is searching for something, or someone.
By focusing and activating his powers at the same time, Ash can sense anything in about 10km radius. Even something which is buried, Ash can sense with his radar-like senses. This is considerably more powerful, then what he used to be able to sense with only his Aura Powers.
In a couple of minutes, Ash was able to search the cave he was in, several meters into the walls in all directions. He only found one thing, which he dug out, and then he moved further down the mine, and did the same thing again.
By doing this, Ash planned to be finished by the dinner time of the same day he entered the mine, but he has completely lost track of time, without even noticing it, and by the time he did notice, it was already the afternoon of the next day. He has literally spent over 24 hours in a mine, digging non-stop, without stopping to eat, sleep, or even drink anything.
He hasn't even noticed it.
And then, a miracle… so to say.
While he was using his sensory skills to search for more stuff, Ash suddenly felt something wrong. He used a bit more power in his sensing, so he was able to sense all the way outside of the mine, which he didn't intend to do. It just happened by accident, though seeing what he was sensing, Ash was happy that he made a mistake.
Ash looked at the huge pile of the stones, items, and fossil's he found, before he released his Aipom and Shinx. "The two of you stay here, and guard that pile. I need to go outside. Something bad is happening."
The two Pokémon nodded at Ash, before they stood next to a large pile, while Ash run through the mine, toward the exit.
XXX
Ash run through the exit of the mine, and came outside. He saw that it was starting to get dark outside a little bit, as the sun was already low enough on the west, that it was behind a rather large mountain, which is blocking it's light.
Ash didn't pay much attention to that, though. What he saw as he ran out of the mine, made him very angry, though at the same time, he was surprised.
There was a Pokémon flying in the sky. The Pokémon was strange. Not one Ash has ever seen. It was obviously a bird Pokémon, with black and yellow feathers, as well as long red beak, and red feet. It was about the average size for the bird Pokémon, but it wasn't a bird Pokémon Ash has ever seen before, and he has seen them all.
That is what has surprised him. What made him angry, is that the Pokémon is currently in the middle of attacking Lillie and Dawn, who were using their Pokémon to defend themselves. Dawn was using her Buneary, while Lilly has released her Alolan Ninetales.
The two girls were fighting bravely against the, obviously stronger Pokémon, they weren't giving up, and were fighting with their all.
Ash looked around, and besides the parts of the ground which were destroyed from the Electric attacks which the strange Pokémon used; as well as parts of the ground frozen by Alolan Ninetales, the only other things that were there, were Lillie, Dawn and their Pokémon. There was no one else, which brings the question. Who's Pokémon it was that's been attacking the two girls.
It could be wild. There is certainly a possibility, but from what Ash could see in the couple of seconds he's been watching the battle, the electric bird is way too strong to be a wild Pokémon. It definitely belongs to someone, and that someone has trained it well, judging by the fact that it can go against one of Lillie's strongest Pokémon, who was also being backed by Dawn's Buneary.
A minute later, Ash realized that Lillie and Dawn won't be able to defeat their opponent, and will only get injured, along with their Pokémon; Ash decided to interfere.
Ash pulled a Poke Ball from his Poke Belt, and released his Pokémon.
It was right at the time, as the Electric Bird just finished charging an orb of yellow electricity in front of its beak, and then fired a beam of yellow electricity from the orb at Alolan Ninetales, and Buneary.
Fortunately for the two girls and their Pokémon, Ash's Pokémon interfered, and fired a Thunderbolt, which clashed with Charge Beam fired by the electric Bird, which caused a massive explosion.
All the Pokémon, and both girls, looked toward where the Thunderbolt came from, and saw Ash covered in dust, standing behind a large silver Pokémon.
Lillie, and Dawn saw Ash, and his Melmetal, and sighed in relief. The same happened with Buneary and Alolan Ninetales. They were happy that Ash is there, and will save them all.
"Ash," Lillie yelled! "Am I glad to see you?"
"I bet you are," Ash said, his face very serious, as he was looking at the strange Pokémon, floating in the air dozens of meters away from him. "What's going on here?"
"A lot," Lillie said with a sigh. "This whole day, has been insane, and now this. But let's talk about that, and about where were you until now, later. We need you help to deal with that Pokémon. It already took out Dawn's Piplup, and Cubone, as well as my Alolan Sandslash. Now, it's taking on my Ninetales, as well as Dawn's Buneary, like they are nothing."
Ash looked at the Pokémon with narrowed eyes, before he told Melmetal to use Thunderbolt.
Melmetal fired his attack, though the bird in the sky dodged it, and used Electro Ball, but that was also dodged by Melmetal. The ball did hit the ground, though, and caused an explosion, and a small crater, showing that it was quite a powerful attack.
Ash raised his eyebrows at the damage done by such an attack. He was also confused by the Pokémon he was battling against. There is NO WAY that that's a wild Pokémon, and he doubts that it's a Legendary or Mythical, which means that it belongs to someone. But where is that someone, and how that person is ordering their Pokémon to attack.
Ash wonders for a moment if the Pokémon is attacking by itself, while the trainer is just hiding somewhere. If that's the case, then that would mean that this is a very high-level Pokémon, to be able to fight like this, without receiving orders from its trainer.
The bird Pokémon used Swift, to attack Melmetal, but Ash told his Pokémon to use Double Iron Bash. Melmetal spun in place, defending itself from the barrage of stars. Once the stars stopped, Melmetal continued to spin, and went toward the enemy Pokémon. He was able to land a very powerful hit on the Pokémon, which was followed by another, then another, and then another, which sent the bird at the ground.
Ash then told Melmetal to finish the battle with Flash Cannon, so Melmetal fired it. Much to both Ash's, and Melmetal's shock, from inside of the dust cloud where the bird was currently at, came a very powerful Thunderbolt attack, which clashed with Flash Cannon, and caused a very large explosion, which blew both Pokémon away from where they were.
They were able to right themselves up, before the electric bird used Hurricane, which engulfed Melmetal, and lifted it in the air in the middle of a giant tornado. Then, the bird fired another Electro Ball, this one ON the Hurricane. The two attacks merged, and created a lighting hurricane, which caused an extreme damage to Melmetal.
Once the two attacks ended, Melmetal fell on the ground, and much to Dawn's, and Lillie's shock, as well as Ash's surprise, he was almost defeated. Almost, but not completely, as he was still conscious, but struggling to stand back up.
Seeing its opponent on the ropes, the Electric bird decided to end the battle, and used what Ash recognized as a Brave Bird attack.
Seeing a chance here, Ash told his Melmetal to use Flash Cannon, with all of his remaining power, but at the last second.
Melmetal stood right, and readied the Flash Cannon. Then, when he was almost to be hit, he fired it.
The Electric Bird had no time to stop its attack, or to dodge the Flash Cannon, so it hit at Melmetal's attack, head on.
The clash created a shockwave, which blew everything from the center of it, and making Dawn, and Lillie fall on their asses, as they were just behind Ash, so they were close. Ash was able to stand his ground, though, and watched as his Pokémon's attack, clashed with the enemy Pokémon, who was enveloped in its own attack.
Few seconds of pushing at each other went fast for the two Pokémon, before an explosion interrupted it all, and sent both Pokémon hurling backwards from the point of clash.
The explosion rose a dust cloud which covered everything from sight, and reduced the visibility to practically, zero.
It took a little while for the dust to clear, during which time, nothing happened. Ash just stood there, with Dawn, and Lillie behind him. They all waited to see what happened, and how the battle ended, though Ash is sure that regardless of what happened with that electric bird, Melmetal won't be able to continue this battle.
Coming to that conclusion, Ash was very surprised, though not shocked, to see one of his Pokémon defeated, especially one who has had quite a bit of training, like his Melmetal did. Of course, Melmetal didn't have nowhere near as much training as his Pokémon from Kanto, Johto and Hoenn, but he still had a lot, and there aren't that many regular trainers, who can defeat one of his Pokémon like Melmetal.
That told Ash that whoever this bird Pokémon belongs to, isn't a regular trainer, but someone who is on the level quite a bit above the Gym Leader, and probably on a level of someone who can win a regional league tournament.
Once the dust cloud cleared, Ash saw his Melmetal lying on the ground, unconscious. He sighed, and looked around to see what happened to his opponent, but didn't see anything. Ash's eyes narrowed at that, before he tried to sense if the Pokémon is somewhere close, but even then he wasn't able to feel anything. He was able to feel, but there were quite a few people and Pokémon coming toward his location, that it was impossible to tell who is who.
Ash sighed again. Whoever that Pokémon belonged to, was able to recall it back while the dust cloud obscured Ash's vision, and then run away before the cloud came down.
Ash took a deep breath, and sighed again. "Well, that's just great." He said out loud, before he recalled his Melmetal.

After the battle with the unknown Pokémon, of the unknown trainer, Ash, Lillie and Dawn, went to the Oreburgh Mine.
At first, Ash wanted to go to the Police Station, so that Lillie, and Dawn can report the attack, but Lillie, and Dawn convinced Ash not to do that right now. They first wanted to speak with him, and then they can go and report what happened.
Ash thought about it, and in the end he gave-in to the girl's desires, and asked them to follow him back to the mine, as he has left his Shinx and Aipom there to guard the stuff he dug-out.
"So," Ash spoke as they walked through the mine. "Are you going to tell me what the hell is going on?"
The girls looked at each other, and then at Ash, before both sighed. Then, Lillie started to speak. "We are still not sure about how it happened, but somehow, all the prehistoric Pokémon from the Oreburgh Museum, were released from the museum, and let loose on the City," Ash narrowed his eyes when he heard this. He didn't interrupt Lillie, though, so she continued. "There were 12 of them, and they started to attack everything and everyone on their path. The worst were the two Aerodactyl's, which were bombing everything from above.
"It led to the two of us, having to battle against those Pokémon, in order to stop them. We separated after we left the Pokémon Center, and battled against different Pokémon. Dawn used her Piplup, and Cubone, to defeat Omastar, and Cradily in front of the Pokémon Center.
"I ended up having to battle against one of the Aerodactyl, using my Pidgeot. It was a very tough battle, but I won, and actually had to catch the Aerodactyl, because there was no one from the Oreburgh Museum around me, so they can return it to the Poke Ball, or catch it if it doesn't have one.
"Later I learned that Paul, Roark and Ian, also battled against the prehistoric Pokémon, and were able to defeat them all. All the prehistoric Pokémon, except the Aerodactyl I caught, are now back at the Oreburgh Museum, which is under a lot of guard, and the investigation is currently going on, to find out how those Pokémon managed to get out from the enclosure they were in."
Ash nodded in understanding, after Lillie stopped speaking. He assumed she has finished, so he asked. "Did you hear any news about what happened?"
"We didn't," It was Dawn, who spoke this time. "We met at the Oreburgh Museum, but the place was in chaos. People and the police were running all over the place, and there wasn't anyone we can talk to. Everyone was busy, so we decided to wait for later, when we can talk to someone about what happened, and about the Aerodactyl, which Lillie caught."
"I see," Ash said, while thinking on everything he heard from Lillie, and Dawn. He didn't need to be a genius, to figure out that someone has released those Pokémon on the Oreburgh City, and that they didn't come out alone. The questions are; WHO? And WHY?
"Tell me what happened after you left the Oreburgh Museum?" Ash asked.
"Well," Dawn started to speak. "We decided to come here, and see if we can find you. You've been gone for over a day, and we were worried," Ash apologized when he heard that, "but as soon as we were outside of the mine, and with no one around us, we were attacked by that Pokémon. We have no idea where it came from, or if it has a trainer. We never actually saw anyone give it commands.
"As you saw, it was a very powerful Pokémon, and was able to defeat my Piplup, and Cubone, as well as Lillie's Alolan Sandslash. And even then, was able to take on Lillie's Alolan Ninetales, and my Buneary. That was one powerful Pokémon, I'll tell you. Then again, you saw it, so I don't have to tell you."
"Do you know which Pokémon that was?" Lillie asked Ash.
"No," He said. "I know every single Pokémon from the Eastern Quarter, and that's not one of the Pokémon from here."
"Could it be from Paldea?" Lillie asked Ash, getting raised eyebrows from him, and Dawn. Him, because he didn't think of Paldea; and Dawn because she never heard of Paldea Region.
"It could be," Ash said. "I have a few Pokémon from there, and have seen some more, but I didn't see that one before, so it could be, but at the same time, it doesn't have to be. It could be from a completely new Region."
"But why would a Pokémon from a completely different quarter of the World be here," Lillie asked? "And more importantly, why would it attack us?"
"I don't know," Ash said with a frown on his face. "I can't say that it's completely impossible for a Pokémon from another quarter to be here, as I have some. But, to attack you two just like that… I just don't see a reason… unless…"
"Unless what?" Dawn asked.
"Unless the attack on the two of you, has something to do with the attack of the prehistoric Pokémon, earlier today." Ash said.
"Are you trying to say that someone could have released those Pokémon on purpose, and had them attack the City?" Lillie asked in shock.
"I am," Ash said. "It's the only explanation I can come up with."
"But why?" Dawn asked.
"I don't know," Ash frowned. "I don't like not knowing. It's a rarity."
They walked for a few more minutes in silence, before Dawn asked. "What are we going to do now?"
"We gather the things we came here for," Ash said, "and then we go to the Oreburgh Museum. I need to talk with Officer Jenny, and if Roark is there, him as well."
"Why?" Dawn asked.
"They need to know about the attack on the two of you," Ash said. "And I need to find out what the hell is going on."
Lillie, and Dawn couldn't argue with that. Instead, they just followed after Ash, as they went deeper, and deeper in the Oreburgh Mine.
It took them a while, but eventually, they arrived at the place where Ash left his loot, and two of his Pokémon, who were guarding it.
"Hey guys," Ash said to his Pokémon, as soon as he was close enough to them. "Has there been some trouble while I was gone?"
Both Pokémon shock their heads, and said that everything was fine, though a little boring, as Ash was gone for a while.
Ash smiled at this, but said nothing. Instead, he looked toward Lillie, and Dawn, who had their eyes wide opened, as they were looking at the pile of items, which Ash found.
"You dug out all of this, in a single day?" Dawn questioned with disbelief in her eyes, and voice.
"Yep," Ash said with a smile. He seemed happy with himself, for his accomplishment.
"How?" Dawn asked.
"It's a long story," Ash said. "I'll tell you about it some other time. Now, we need to take all of these items and fossil's, and go to the museum."
"Fine," Dawn said, before she looked at the pile, in which she recognized some items, but not all of them. She wanted to ask Ash about them, but decided to do that later.
All three of them took several items, and fossil's, each; though Ash first returned his two Pokémon to their Poke Balls. Then, they started to walk toward the exit of the mine.
XXX
As it turns out, Ash, wasn't able to speak with Roark, Oreburgh City Officer Jenny, or anyone from the Oreburgh Museum. They were all far too busy with all that happened in the Oreburgh City earlier that day, and didn't have time to speak with Ash.
Ash didn't push it. He isn't in a hurry, as he has to wait for the gym battle against Roark, so there is time to speak with everyone, especially since there is no telling how long he will have to wait for the battle.
In the end, Ash decided he wanted to get some sleep, as he didn't sleep in almost 40 hours, and is tired. Dawn, and Lillie weren't as tired, but since they didn't have much to do, and with all of their Pokémon safe with Nurse Joy in the Pokémon Center, they decided to also have a good night's rest.
The next day, Ash had to wait until sometime in the afternoon, to finally get a chance to speak with someone from the Oreburgh City. That someone was Roark.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Roark," Ash said to the man, as they shock hands. "My name is Ash Ketchum, and I'm a Grand Master of the Aura Guardians of the Rota Kingdom, as well as a Pokémon Trainer currently traveling through Sinnoh Region."
"Nice to meet you, Ash," Roark said. "What can I help you with?"
"Well," Ash spoke, "originally I came here to have a gym battle against you, but since I had to wait until after you had a battle against Paul, I went to the Oreburgh Mine to dig for some items. In there, I lost track of time, and spent over 24 hours. I only came out yesterday in the late afternoon, when I felt my friends are in danger," Ash pointed toward Dawn, and Lillie, who waived at Roark.
Roark recognized the girls from his battle against Paul, as they were there, watching the battle. He didn't say anything about that, though, and only focused on Ash.
Ash then went and explained to Roark what happened after he got out from the mine, and about the Pokémon which he had to battle.
Once Ash was finished with the explanation, he saw that Roark had a worried look on his face. It took a full minute, for Roark to start speaking.
"I am sorry about to what happened to the two of you," Roark apologized to Lillie, and Dawn. "But yesterday was chaotic, and we still don't know what the hell happened… at least not everything, but we did find some things out," here, Roark looked at Ash, "you are right with that theory that someone has caused all of this, and that they are from a completely different quarter of the world, and not ours."
Ash narrowed his eyes at this. "How did you find this out," he asked? "Did Officer Jenny and the police, arrest them?"
"No, they weren't arrested," Roark sighed. "We barely even know how they look like, and even that isn't really trustworthy."
"How did you find out that there was someone behind all that happened?" Lillie asked.
"Yesterday, two man came to the Oreburgh Museum," Roark spoke. "They wanted a tour, and the Museum sent one of the employees to show them around."
"Was it Kenzo?" Dawn suddenly asked.
"How do you know, Kenzo?" Roark asked back.
"We had a tour, the day before yesterday," Dawn said. "He was the one who showed us around the museum, and even showed us the restoration machines, and how the fossils are restored."
Roark nodded at the answer, and then answered. "Yes, it was Kenzo who showed those two guys around the museum. It was all a plan, and a set-up, though."
"What do you mean?" Ash asked.
"When we checked the cameras to see what happened in the museum, we saw Kenzo leading two man in the enclosure where the prehistoric Pokémon were kept, and then released them all," Ash narrowed his eyes at this, while Lillie, and Dawn gasped in shock at this. They never expected Kenzo to do that. They didn't know him at all, but from what they've seen of him during the tour, he seemed like a nice guy, and not a criminal.
"Then," Roark continued to speak, "Kenzo stood to the side, while the two man took one of the fossil restorers, and took it out of the museum. It seems that the reason they released the Pokémon, was to create a distraction, while they stole the restorer, and the worst thing for us is that, it worked. While the whole City was being attacked by the prehistoric Pokémon, the two of them simply took the fossil restorer outside of the museum, loaded it on the truck, and took it away. Kenzo went with them."
"Did you find out why Kenzo did all that?" Lillie asked. "He didn't seem like a bad guy when we met him. There was nothing about him that indicated that he is a criminal."
"That's because he isn't," Roark sighed. "Last night, after we checked the cameras, and saw what Kenzo did, police went to his house to see if they can ask his wife if she maybe knows where he is. When they got there, though… the situation was… bad."
"What happened?" Ash asked right away, with narrowed eyes, and a very serious look on his face.
Roark sighed. "It would seem, that those two man in the museum weren't the only ones. There was another, and that one paid a visit to Kenzo's house before Kenzo's meeting with the two man in the museum," Ash saw right away where Roark was going with this. He had a feeling he knew what happened. "The man took Kenzo's wife as a hostage, and then when the two in the museum told Kenzo about it and showed him pictures of his wife tied-up… he couldn't do anything except what they wanted him to.
"Once they had what they wanted, which is the fossil restorer, the two from the museum split-up a little away from the museum. One of them took the truck, the restorer, and Kenzo outside of the City, while the second one stayed behind, though we don't know why.
"As for the third… well, while he was in Kenzo's house he had some… fun… with Kenzo's wife. He left at some point, but we don't know where he went from there. We don't know where any of them left after they got what they wanted."
Ash heard what Roark said about Kenzo's wife, and knew right away what was done to her. Lillie, and Dawn took a few moments to figure it out as well, and they both felt sick when they realized what was done to Kenzo's wife. On top of feeling sick, they also felt sorry about what happened to the innocent woman.
"How are Kenzo, and his wife?" Ash asked.
"Bad," Roark said. "When those people left Kenzo in the mountains outside of the City, he was unconscious. As soon as he regained consciousness, he run back home, and found his wife in a bad position, which told him immediately on what happened.
"The police found him holding his wife next to himself, while crying. She was conscious, but barely, and was physically really bad. They are both in the hospital right now, and while they are both going to be physically fine, their mental health might not be so good. Especially, Alex's (that's the name of Kenzo's wife).
Ash sighed. He really hated when shit like this happens. It gives him unnecessary job, when all he wishes if to travel around, battle other Pokémon Trainers, and enjoy life. Unfortunately, it's his job, and he can't blame anyone but himself, as it was his decision to become an Aura Guardian.
"What's being done to find those people?" Ash asked.
"The police is searching the City, and the surrounding area, but so far, they've got nothing," Roark said with a sigh. "I doubt that they will find anything, anyway. With that truck, they could be almost anywhere in Sinnoh Region, by now. Technically, they could have already left the Region entirely, as we're not that far from the South Coast of Sinnoh. As such, I don't think that they will be found any time soon."
Ash had to agree with that, though he didn't say it.
"Is there something we can do to help?" Lillie asked, drawing everyone's attention on herself.
"No," Roark said. "You've all already done enough. Especially the two of you girls. You defeated three of the prehistoric Pokémon, and stopped their rampage. And you, Ash. You forced the person who attacked Lillie and Dawn, to run away. That means even more, if that person is one of those who are responsible for the attack on the City.
"As such, we can't ask anything from you any more, even if we wanted to. It just won't feel right."
"You shouldn't worry about that stuff," Ash said. "It's my job to do everything I can to catch people who would do stuff like that… even if sometimes I resent doing it."
"It's not an easy job, being an Aura Guardian, is it?" Roark asked.
"It's not that it's hard, it's just… I don't know. I guess over time, you start resenting the job. Always running into criminals, who you have to catch, instead of letting them go. It's particularly troublesome when the criminals, are a bunch of idiots." Ash explained. "At first I loved my job, you know, but now… I would rather just be a Pokémon Trainer, travel around, catch Pokémon, train them, and occasionally… chase some girls."
Roark laughed at the last thing Ash said, while Lillie, and Dawn gave him a stink eye. Ash only smirked seeing this.
"Well, anyway," Roark spoke. "As I said, you've all done enough. Those criminals have already left the City, and there is nothing we can do about it. We don't even have a clue on where to go after them."
Seeing that the conversation is coming to a close, Lillie took one of her Poke Balls, and gave it to Roark.
Roark didn't take it right away, but looked at it curiously. "What's that?" He asked Lillie.
"This is the Aerodactyl, which I fought and caught yesterday," Lillie said. "It's not mine, or wild, so I give it to you so you can return it to the Oreburgh Museum, as I assume it's theirs."
"You wouldn't be able to catch it, if it was theirs," Roark said. "All the prehistoric Pokémon which belong to the Oreburgh Museum, have their own Poke Balls. If this one didn't, and you caught it, then it does belong to you."
"But what if this Aerodactyl was inside of the restoration machine when the thief's took it," Dawn asked? "If they opened the machine before they stole it, and the Pokémon was inside, then it wouldn't have its own Poke Ball. Right?"
"She's right," Lillie said. "I remember that Kenzo placed one fossil in one of the machine when we visited, so for all we know, that could have been the Aerodactyl which I caught, and that means that it does belong to the Museum."
"You could be right," Roark said. "Both of you. I still do believe that you deserve the Aerodactyl. But, lets first talk with the management of the museum, and if they allow it, you can keep it."
Lillie was OK with that, so she returned Aerodactyl's Poke Ball to her back pack, and left it there until it's decided what it will be done with it.
"So," Ash spoke again. "How long are we going to have to wait for everything to settle down, and have our gym battles?"
Roark though about it for a moment, before he said. "Well, we can have them tomorrow if the two of you are fine with it."
"You don't have something else to do tomorrow?" Lillie questioned.
"No," Roark shock his head. "Just like there is nothing you can do to find those criminals, the same goes for me. It will all be left in the hands of the police. They will have to start the search for them.
"That means that I'm free to continue my gym duties, as well as my job in the Oreburgh Mine."
Ash and Lillie nodded. They were happy that they won't have to wait, who knows how long for their gym battles, which would mean losing a lot of time.
Ash then decided to ask about what he found in the mine. "Who do I have to talk with about the items and fossil's which I found in the mine?"
"Usually, it's with me first," Roark said. "Then if you have some fossils, I tell you to go to the Oreburgh Museum to see if they are going to buy them from you, or you can keep them. That's how it's been so far."
Ash nodded, before he showed Roark all the stones, items, and fossils he found in the Oreburgh Mine.
"That's a lot," Roark said. "I have never seen one person dig out so much, in such a short amount of time."
"Well… I might have used some of my powers to help me." Ash said. Right away, he noticed a confused look on Roark's face. "When I say powers, it means that as an Aura Guardian, I can control Aura in the same way as some Pokémon can."
"Really?" Roark question. Ash only nodded. "That's interesting. I've never heard of things like that."
"Well, it's not a common knowledge, but there are a lot of people like me." Ash said.
Roark nodded, but said nothing about it. Instead, he focused on looking at all the stones, items, and fossils which Ash found. He tried to see if he can figure out what all of them are.
The fossils are easy to recognize, as he has seen a lot of them. Ash has dug-out five fossils, and from what Roark could see, they are: one Root Fossil, which could be revived into Lileep; then there is one Claw Fossil, which can become Anorith. There is also one Armor Fossil, which becomes Shieldon. Finally, there are two Dome Fossils, which can become Kabuto.
Roark had to admit that it's not a bad collection. If Ash revives them for himself, he will have a nice group of prehistoric Pokémon.
He left the fossils for later, and looked at the pile which had evolutionary stones, and other items which can be used to evolve a Pokémon. In that group, which is bigger than the one where the fossils are, there are: two Moon Stones, one Fire Stone, one Razor Fang, one Protector, two Metal Coats, and finally, there is one Dragon Scale.
Roark though that it was an impressive pile, and Ash can put them to good use, regardless if he uses them for himself, or if he sells them to buy something else that he needs.
The third pile is the smallest, but the most valuable, at least in terms of money value. That pile has two Rare Bones, five Star Pieces, and finally, three rather large Nuggets. Roark guessed that the value of this third pile, is about 85 000 Poke Dollars, which is quite a lot for a traveling trainer. And, if Ash sells all the other stuff he found, including the Evo. Stones and items, as well as all the fossils, he is looking at earning over 200 000 Poke Dollars.
"Not bad for a single day of digging." Roark though in his head. "Well, I've got to say, that an impressive pile of items you've found, Ash." Roark said to Ash.
Ash smiled slightly. "Yeah, it is," he said. "So, do you think that the Oreburgh Museum will want to buy these fossils?"
"Wouldn't you want to keep them?" Roark asked.
"I can, but I don't have to," Ash said. "I'm not that interested in any of the Pokémon which can be revived from these fossils, so I can sell them to someone, or just give them away."
Roark nodded. "Well, with the current situation in the Oreburgh Museum, I doubt that they will be interested in buying any fossil's for the foreseeable future."
Ash nodded. "Well, then I guess I'll just keep them," he said. "I'll send them to Rota Kingdom to be restored, and maybe left there to be raised. I'll see."
Roark nodded. "What do you plan to do with the other stuff?" He asked.
"I don't know," he said. "Are you interested in something?"
"Well, these Rare Bones are quite rare, and they can also be classified as fossils, though they can't be revived." Roark said. "Still, they would look good on a display in my house."
"If you want them, you can have them?" Ash said to Roark, who thought about it for a moment, and then said.
"OK. I'll take them. How much?" Roark asked.
Ash waved his hand. "Nothing," he said. "Just take them."
"No, I can't do that," Roark said, while shaking his head left and right. "You dug them out, which means that you need some compensation for your work."
"I don't even know how much they are worth," Ash said. "I never bothered to learn how much some items, and stuff are worth."
"Well, the Rare Bones are usually sold for about 5000 Poke Dollar, apiece," Roark said. "So the two you have are worth 10000."
"Fine," Ash spoke. "You can have both for 8000. Is that OK with you?"
"That's fine," Roark said with a smile. "I wouldn't have a problem to pay the full price, though."
"I have a lot of money, so it doesn't mean much to me." Ash shrugged.
Roark nodded. "I am also interested in buying one of the Dome Fossils, if you are willing to sell me."
Ash though about it, and said. "Sure, why not? I already have Kabutops, so two more Kabuto are unnecessary for me."
"They are worth between 6 and 10 000 Poke Dollars," Roark said. "It depends on the fossil, as some are harder, and some easier to find, and not all prehistoric Pokémon are on the same level. I'm offering 7000 for one Dome Fossil. With two Rare Bones being 8000 for both, that's 15000 in total."
"I accept." Ash said, and then he and Roark shock hands in agreement.
