Skye left the compound and climbed into Tucker's car a couple of days later. She had a backpack with her.
"Hey," Skye said with a smile as she put the backpack in the back seat and did up her seat belt.
"Hi," Tucker said with a smile waiting for her seatbelt to be on before he started to drive towards Rockefeller Center to go ice skating. Skye got the idea when Tony had taken Morgan to go ice skating.
"How have your last few days been?" Tucker asked,
"Okay. Busy. Cleaning," Skye said.
"The compound doing some major cleaning?" Tucker asked.
"Um. No. Me doing extra chores," Skye said.
"You got in trouble for something?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah," Skye said.
"What did you do?" Tucker asked.
"You are not allowed to be upset with me," Skye said.
"I'm allowed to feel however I feel," Tucker said before he let out a breath. "Did you use?"
"Yeah," Skye said.
He reached across and took her hand and squeezed it for a moment, "what happened?"
Skye told him everything that happened in Asgard. And about the things that happened in Asgard the first time as he didn't know about that situation.
Tucker listened as he drove. When she was done and he was at a light he looked over at her. "I'm not angry with you. I get you were in a hard place."
"Okay," Skye said. "Thank you. I guess I can forgive you for not telling me Lizzy came to you to ask what happened with the Norton's."
Tucker sighed, "How did you find out?"
"She came to ask me. I didn't tell her. It's up to the Norton's to tell her," Skye said.
"She really wants to know," Tucker said.
"I know. I feel bad but I can't be the one who ruins her view of them. Apparently, Mrs. Norton has broken down crying more than once because of the situation. I wonder if it really because she feels bad or if she misses her baby," Skye said
"Could be both," Tucker said as he pulled up and parked.
They both got out, grabbed their bags, and went to go inside. Tucker showed their tickets before they went in and found a place to sit and put their ice skates on.
They got onto the ice, interlaced their fingers, and started to skate around the ice.
Skye smiled at him.
"What?" Tucker asked.
"Just happy," Skye said.
Tucker smiled, pulled her in closer, and kissed her.
Skye kissed him back before they continued to skate.
After they skated for a couple of hours they got off the ice and changed back into their boots before going and finding some hot chocolate and a place to sit and warm up.
"You got your university applications in right?" Skye asked
"Oh yeah. I finished them before Christmas," Tucker said.
"Good. You applied to more than just NYU right?" Skye asked.
"Yes. Applied to three universities and a community college as a backup. If I don't get into university I can go to community college for a year to build up my application for NYU next year," Tucker said.
"Good," Skye said.
"Do you know what you plan to do for university?" Tucker asked.
"Not where I'm going no. But studying law and political science," Skye said.
"What do you want to do? I can't believe I don't know this," Tucker said.
"I want to work my way up and get into Congress to help change laws for the foster care system," Skye said.
Tucker smiled. "That's my girl."
Skye smiled.
"Have you been able to keep up with school without the structure?" Tucker asked.
"Yes. Have had a lot of help but yes," Skye said. "Bruce and Tony have been really on me to make sure I'm doing it. As much if not more so than my dads. I mean Tony knows my future goals so I think he wants to make sure I get there. Bruce was a surprise, when he started to ask me about it and insisted on helping me if I needed it."
Tucker smiled, "Good. I'm glad you have the help."
Once they had warmed up and finished their drinks they started to walk around the shops in the area. They went into a jewelry shop and Skye looked at the earrings.
"Needing new earrings?" Tucker asked.
"Need? No," Skye said with a chuckle. "Not looking for me anyway. Morgan got her ears pierced for Christmas and she has to keep the ones that she has in until they heal but I asked Pepper if it was okay when she can change them if I can take her to get earrings. So I'm just looking to see if this place has the high-quality ones."
Tucker smiled, "you really treat her like your little sister."
Skye shrugged and smiled, "I don't know. She is basically my cousin. And currently, the closest thing I have to a little sister."
"Do you know what the gender of your baby sibling is yet?" Tucker asked
"No. Too soon. And I don't know if I'm going to get told before the baby is born anyway," Skye said.
"Fair enough. Do you have a preference for what you would like?" Tucker asked.
"I want a healthy sibling," Skye said.
"I don't doubt that. But the way you said that," Tucker said.
"I hope it's a boy," Skye said. "But keep that to yourself."
"I won't tell anyone. But is there a reason you'd prefer a brother?" Tucker asked.
"It's stupid a little selfish,' Skye said.
"Good. For once you are thinking of yourself," Tucker said.
Skye chuckled, "Loki asked me if I ever put my own feelings first after I told him I would try to forgive Orri for him."
"You don't Skye. I know you don't," Tucker said. "So tell me the reason."
"I want to be the only daughter," she mumbled.
"Ah," Tucker said. "You worried about being replaced?"
"My heart knows that would never happen but my brain. . . " Skye said.
Tucker put his arms around her from behind and kissed her head. "You tell your brain to stop being mean to you."
Skye chuckled. "You do it."
Tucker tilted his head and whispered in her ear. "Brain. Be nice to Skye."
Skye giggled.
Tucker smiled.
"Come on silly. Let's keep looking," Skye said.
When they were done they went out to the car, got in, and headed back to her place.
They were driving when a car came out of nowhere and hit the back of Tucker's car, because the roads were a little slick from the snow the car spun in a circle a few times. Skye screamed and Tucker did his best to keep the car controlled until it crashed head-on into a guardrail.
Once the car stopped Tucker looked over at Skye. "Are you hurt?"
"I – I don't think so," she said as she undid her seatbelt and went to open her door but her door was stuck.
Tucker tried his door too but it was also stuck.
"Shit," Tucker said.
Skye took a breath realizing it was time for her to do something, "Tucker are you hurt?"
"No, I'm fine," Tucker said.
"Close your eyes and cover your face," she said as she undid her seatbelt.
Tucker did so and Skye used her strength to break the windshield.
"Shit," Tucker said.
"My strength is good for something," she said as she carefully climbed out and made sure Tucker climbed out behind her as they heard sirens. "Someone must have called 911 already."
Tucker pulled her into a hug.
Skye hugged him.
"Are you okay?" He asked worry in his voice.
"Yes," Skye said. "It wasn't your fault. That other car came out of nowhere."
"I know," Tucker said.
An ambulance, fire department, and the police showed up. Out of the police car came Officer Robbins.
"Oh you have to be fucking kidding me," she said to Tucker
Tucker looked, "Skyler. You Let me handle this. I was driving. Don't make this worse than it has to be."
Skye took a breath but nodded.
Office Robbins came over with a paramedic.
"Either of you hurt?" the paramedic asked.
Skye shook her head.
"We are okay," Tucker said.
The paramedic went off to help the others.
"What happened," Officer Robbins asked.
"I was driving down the street and the other car came out of nowhere. I didn't have time to swerve before it hit the back end on the driver's side. We spun in a circle a couple of times before the car smashed into the guardrail," Tucker said.
Officer Robbins looked at Skye, "Your hand is bleeding Miss Rogers."
Skye looked down at her hand.
"Can we get a paramedic over here," Officer Robbins said.
"I- I didn't know," Skye said.
"Adrenaline it's normal," Officer Robbins said.
The paramedic came back over and took a look at her hand before cleaning it and starting to bandage it up.
"The windshield broke in the crash?" Officer Robbins asked noting the car.
"No," Tucker said looking at Skye.
"You broke it with your hand?" Officer Robbins asked.
Skye didn't respond.
"Skye," Tucker said softly.
Skye bit her tongue to keep from telling Tucker that he had basically told her to keep her mouth shut
Tucker gave her a disapproving look.
"Yes, I broke it with my hand," Skye answered. "We could not get our doors opened."
"Okay. However you got out all that matters is you two are okay," Officer Robbins said. "Miss Rogers you need to call your parents."
"Why only me?" Skye asked
"I know Tucker is emancipated," Officer Robbins said.
"Yeah. He did because he's not just some lost cause like you used to say," Skye mumbled.
Tucker took a breath. "Skye. Call your dad."
"I don't have my phone," Skye snipped.
Tucker took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to her.
Skye took it and called her dad and then Papa when her dad didn't answer. "No answer from either of my parents."
"Who would be the next point of contact?" Officer Robbins asked.
"Virginia Potts," Skye said.
"Try her," Officer Robbins said.
Skye did so and Tony answered her phone
"Hello Pepper Potts phone, Tony speaking," Tony said.
"Uncle Tony. It's Skye, from Tucker's phone. There was an accident. We are both okay but Officer Robbins has asked me to call someone. I tried Dad and Papa but they are at the movies and likely phones off," Skye said.
"Where are you?" Tony asked. "And you're sure you're not hurt?"
"Yeah. I've got a cut on my hand from where I broke the windshield so we could get out. But it's not too serious. I don't think," Skye said and told him where they crashed. "Oh, and the accident wasn't Tucker's fault."
"I don't care about that. As long as you are both okay," Tony said. "I'm on my way," he said before he told Pepper what was going on and left. He pulled up half an hour later. Skye was sitting on a stretcher with a blanket around her. Tucker was standing next to her.
Tony went over and saw the paramedic. "Tony Stark I'm her uncle. Is she really okay?"
"I'm about to take a look to make sure the bleeding has stopped," the paramedic said.
Tony nodded and looked at Tucker. "you are not hurt? And don't try to hide if you are."
"No I'm fine," Tucker said. "I swear it."
"Okay," Tony said.
The paramedic unbandaged Skye's hand and took a look. "Looks good. She tells me she heals faster than average?"
"She does, she is Captain America's daughter. She has the same abilities speed healing being one of them," Tony said.
"Okay," the paramedic said. "Explains where the strength that broke the windshield came from too."
Skye smiled and nodded.
Tony looked around, "Where is Officer Robbins?"
Tucker nodded over to him. He was walking over to them.
"Thank you for coming. I needed an adult to release to Miss. Rogers too," Officer Robbins said. "She is free to go if she is cleared by the paramedic."
"What about him?" Tony asked. "He is emancipated yes but he is still important to my family."
As he spoke an officer came over with both their backpacks.
Both took their backpacks
"He is free to go," Officer Robbins said before looking at Tucker, "Your car is being taken into evidence," he said before he handed him a receipt. "I will call you once your car can be moved to a shop or wherever you want it. But I do believe what you said happen, happened. I don't think this was your fault. The other driver was intoxicated. And Miss Rogers. I have never once referred to either of you as a lost cause."
Tony let out a breath and closed his eyes. What had the girl said?
"Sorry," Skye mumbled.
"Skyler, you can do better than that," Tony said.
"I'm sorry," Skye said properly.
"Skyler, I know you and I have had our differences. But never once have I thought you were not a good kid. I know you have not had an easy childhood. And I'm happy that both of you have come out of it on the other side," Officer Robbins said.
"Yes, Officer. Thank you," Skye said
"You got your applications in on time?" Officer Robbins asked Tucker.
"Just in time. Thank you," Tucker said.
Skye looked between Tucker and the officer.
"He wrote me a letter to help show that the police are not worried about me causing problems anymore," Tucker said.
"You never told me that!" Skye said.
"Why do you think that is?" Tucker asked a little annoyed.
Skye bit her lip.
"Let's go you two. Tucker, I will take you home," Tony said. "Thank you, Officer Robbins. Her father might have some questions when he finds out."
"That's fine he has my number he can call," Officer Robbins said.
Skye got off the stretcher and the three of them went to Tony's car and started for Tucker's.
"What did you say, Skyler?" Tony asked.
"I mumbled that Tucker wasn't a lost cause like he had called him in the past. Or I guess thought he had said," Skye said.
Tony shook his head.
"And that is after I told her to let me handle it," Tucker said.
"Well, I didn't know you two had made nice!" Skye said.
"Because you have a mad hate for him. You think I wanted to deal with your bitching about the guy who was helping me?" Tucker asked
"I'm sorry. He might never have said we were lost causes but he most definitely manipulated us to admitting to things we did," Skye said snarkily.
"Because we had done them, Skyler," Tucker said.
"Oh stop calling me Skyler," Skye said.
"Stop making it so I'm pissed enough with you to call you it," Tucker said.
Skye huffed.
Tony said nothing letting the two of them argue it out.
"Skye. I asked you to not say anything because I know you. You would have gone at him trying to protect me. I knew the accident was not my fault. I didn't need you to protect me. I didn't mean you couldn't talk when asked a question. Which you didn't do without me having to prod you to do so. You were trying to piss him off. When he hadn't done anything," Tucker said.
"You told me to keep my mouth shut I was doing what you told me to," Skye mumbled.
Tucker took a breath as Tony pulled into the parking lot of his place. "When you need your car fixed. If it's fixable. You let me know and I know someone who can do so and give you a good deal because you are a friend," Tony said.
"Thank you, Tony. Skyler, can you step out of the car? I want to say something to you, not in front of your uncle," Tucker said.
Skye sighed and got out when the car was stopped.
Tucker got out and took Skye's arm and led her a few feet away. "Skyler. I am angry with you. You need to learn to stop pushing when there is no reason to. I know you do not like Officer Robbins. And I can not make you. But I did not tell you to shut up. I told you to let me handle it and not make it worse. You made things awkward when it didn't have to be."
Skye didn't say anything.
"You have nothing to say?" Tucker asked
"Anytime I say anything tonight you get pissed so nope," Skye said.
"Skye," Tucker said.
"You didn't tell me about Lizzy coming and talking to you. You didn't tell me about going to Officer Robbins for a reference letter. What else have you neglected to tell me? You seeing someone else?" Skye asked.
"What the hell are you talking about? I didn't tell you about Lizzy fine yeah that was a mistake. I already told you why I didn't tell you about Officer Robbins. And how exactly does that lead you to think I'm cheating on you?" Tucker asked.
"You are keeping secrets! We don't keep secrets!" Skye said.
"And if I hadn't asked questions would you have told me about using again?" Tucker asked.
Skye looked down. He was right
Tucker gently gripped her chin with two fingers and forced her to look him in the eyes, "Skye. I love you. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Lizzy. But tonight I asked you to not make things worse and you did. I wasn't asking you for something unfair or unreasonable but you did what I asked you not to," Tucker said.
"I'm sorry," Skye said tears forming in her eyes.
"Next time you'll cooperate when I ask you to?" Tucker asked
"Yes. Promise," Skye said
"Skye. Keep that promise or you are going to see a side of me you never have," Tucker said.
"O- Oh?" Skye asked.
"I'll explain what I mean when I'm less angry with you," Tucker said.
"Okay," Skye said.
Tucker kissed her temple before walking her back to the car and opening the door for her.
Skye kissed him before she got into the car.
"Thank you again, Tony," Tucker said before he closed the door.
Skye did up her seatbelt and Tony started the drive home.
After they drove in silence for a few minutes Skye let out a breath, "Just say it," Skye said.
"Tucker covered everything I was thinking," Tony said.
Skye let out a breath, "he has never been like that with me before."
"Yeah. Well, you probably have never done something like that with him before," Tony said. "Do I want to know what he said outside the car?"
"Mostly just lectured me more," Skye said.
Tony nodded. He wasn't going to push it.
As they drove Skye's phone rang.
Skye answered it. "Hi, Dad. I'm okay. I'm with Tony."
"Speaker please," Steve said.
Skye put it on speaker.
"Tony, she isn't hurt?" Steve asked.
"Cut on her hand from where she broke the windshield. Checked out by paramedics and bandaged up but otherwise, she seems and was deemed by the professionals that she is okay," Tony said.
"And Tucker?" Steve asked.
"He was not hurt, angry with your daughter though," Tony said.
"Oh? Skye, why is he angry with you?" Steve asked
"When the police showed up it was Officer Robbins. Tucker told me to let him handle it and not make it worse," Skye said.
"What did you say?" Steve asked.
"I might have commented on Tucker getting emancipated because he's not a lost cause like he had said in the past," Skye said.
"Which he has never said," Tony said.
"Of course, he hasn't," Steve said sounding a little annoyed. "Skyler. I understand you and this officer have had issues. But I don't think you need to be reminded you got into a lot of legal trouble. He was doing his job."
"Yeah. Tucker pointed that out too," Skye said softly.
"Yeah that young man is not happy with Skye at the moment," Tony said.
"Oh? He has said so?" Steve asked.
"Yeah," Skye said leaning her head on the window.
"Yeah. He did the lecturing so I don't have to," Tony said.
"Has he ever lectured you before Skye?" Steve asked.
"Nope," Skye said eyes filling with tears again.
"You okay?" Steve asked her softly.
"No," Skye said.
"I'm sorry Peanut. I'm sure Tucker will calm down," Steve said.
"He has never been this angry with me," Skye said as the tears fell.
"Hey," Tony said looking over at her at a light, "You don't think I have ever been angry with Pepper or that she has never been angry with me? Because I can tell you both are true. But we have always worked it out. If you and Tucker are supposed to be together you will work it out."
Skye nodded.
"Skye. We will be home in about twenty minutes," Steve said.
"That's about when we will get home too," Tony said.
"Okay," Steve said.
The call was ended and Tony drove the rest of the way home.
When they got home, Skye went inside and Pepper started to fuss over her "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay. Just a cut that is already healing," Skye said holding up her hand.
Pepper hugged her.
Skye hugged Pepper.
Steve and Bucky came into the room and Pepper nodded to them.
Skye looked at them and went and she was wrapped in a hug from both of them.
Skye broke down sobbing. And the hug was tightened.
"Hey, it's going to be okay," Steve said.
"He is so angry," Skye sobbed out.
"Did he break up with you?" Bucky asked.
Skye shook her head.
"Well then I think you two will be okay," Bucky said.
Skye calmed down a little.
"I want Dr. Banner to look at your hand," Steve said.
"Dad it's fine," Skye said.
"Humor me," Steve said
"Okay," Skye said.
"I think he is down in his lab," Pepper said.
Skye went down. "Hi, Dr. Banner."
"Hey, Skye. What's up? Oh, what happened to your hand?" Dr. Banner asked.
"Tucker and I were in a car accident. We are both okay. I cut my hand when I broke the windshield so we could get out. The paramedic at the scene looked at it and bandaged it up. Said it was okay. But my dad told me to get you to check it out too," Skye said.
"Come sit," Dr. Banner said.
Skye went and sat and held her hand out.
Bruce took the bandage off and took a look. "How did the accident happen?"
"Someone came out of nowhere and hit the side of the car. It was in the back so it caused the car to spin a couple of times and ran right into a guardrail," Skye said.
"And neither of you ended up seriously injured?" Bruce asked surprised.
"No. This isn't even directly from the accident," Skye said. "And Tucker was not hurt at all. Both of us were checked out by the paramedics. Told we might have some soreness in the next couple of days but overall we are fine," Skye said.
"Okay," Bruce said. "Yes, this looks fine. Don't need the bandage anymore either."
"Okay. Thank you, Dr. Banner," Skye said as she got up.
"No problem. If you start feeling any pain you let me know," Dr. Banner said.
"Of course," Skye said.
"And I know the cost of medical care can be crazy. If Tucker turns out to be more injured than he seems I can treat him. As long as it's not surgical," Bruce said.
"Okay. I'll let him know. Thank you," Skye said before she left and went upstairs she sent a text to Tucker letting him know what Dr. Banner had said and got back a short response.
Skye went to her room and started her bath. There was a knock on her door.
"Yeah?" she called out.
Steve went in, "Dr. Banner give you the all clear?"
"Yeah. Don't even need the bandage anymore," Skye said.
"Good," Steve said kissing her head. "I'll let you get to your bath."
"Thanks, Dad," Skye said before Steve left the room.
Once her bath was ready and filled with bubbles she climbed in and closed her eyes trying to relax.
Steve went out to his and Bucky's bedroom where Bucky was sitting on the bed reading.
"She's okay?" Bucky asked.
"Yes," Steve said as he started to get ready for bed
Bucky watched him.
Steve noticed and smirked making his way over to the bed and leaned down and kissed his husband.
Bucky kissed him back putting his book down and pulling Steve down onto the bed.
